قَدْIndeedسَمِعَAllah has heardٱللَّهُAllah has heardقَوْلَ(the) speechٱلَّتِى(of one) whoتُجَٰدِلُكَdisputes with youفِىconcerningزَوْجِهَاher husbandوَتَشْتَكِىٓand she directs her complaintإِلَىtoٱللَّهِAllahوَٱللَّهُAnd Allahيَسْمَعُhearsتَحَاوُرَكُمَآ(the) dialogue of both of youإِنَّIndeedٱللَّهَAllahسَمِيعٌۢ(is) All-HearerبَصِيرٌAll-Seer1
ٱلَّذِينَThose whoيُظَٰهِرُونَpronounce ziharمِنكُمamong youمِّن[from]نِّسَآئِهِم(to) their wivesمَّاnotهُنَّtheyأُمَّهَٰتِهِمْ(are) their mothersإِنْNotأُمَّهَٰتُهُمْ(are) their mothersإِلَّاexceptٱلَّٰٓـِٔىthose whoوَلَدْنَهُمْgave them birthوَإِنَّهُمْAnd indeed, theyلَيَقُولُونَsurely sayمُنكَرًاan evilمِّنَ[of]ٱلْقَوْلِ[the] wordوَزُورًاand a lieوَإِنَّBut indeedٱللَّهَAllahلَعَفُوٌّ(is) surely, Oft-PardoningغَفُورٌOft-Forgiving2
وَٱلَّذِينَAnd those whoيُظَٰهِرُونَpronounce ziharمِن[from]نِّسَآئِهِمْ(to) their wivesثُمَّthenيَعُودُونَgo backلِمَاon whatقَالُوا۟they saidفَتَحْرِيرُthen freeingرَقَبَةٍ(of) a slaveمِّنbeforeقَبْلِbeforeأَن[that]يَتَمَآسَّاthey touch each otherذَٰلِكُمْThatتُوعَظُونَyou are admonishedبِهِۦto itوَٱللَّهُAnd Allahبِمَاof whatتَعْمَلُونَyou doخَبِيرٌ(is) All-Aware3
فَمَنThen whoeverلَّمْ(does) notيَجِدْfindفَصِيَامُthen fastingشَهْرَيْنِ(for) two monthsمُتَتَابِعَيْنِconsecutivelyمِنbeforeقَبْلِbeforeأَن[that]يَتَمَآسَّاthey both touch each otherفَمَنBut (he) whoلَّمْnotيَسْتَطِعْis ableفَإِطْعَامُthen (the) feedingسِتِّينَ(of) sixtyمِسْكِينًاneedy one(s)ذَٰلِكَThat لِتُؤْمِنُوا۟so that you may believeبِٱللَّهِin Allahوَرَسُولِهِۦand His Messengerوَتِلْكَand theseحُدُودُ(are the) limitsٱللَّهِ(of) Allahوَلِلْكَٰفِرِينَand for the disbelieversعَذَابٌ(is) a punishmentأَلِيمٌpainful4
إِنَّIndeedٱلَّذِينَthose whoيُحَآدُّونَopposeٱللَّهَAllahوَرَسُولَهُۥand His Messengerكُبِتُوا۟(will) be disgracedكَمَاasكُبِتَwere disgracedٱلَّذِينَthoseمِنbefore themقَبْلِهِمْbefore themوَقَدْAnd certainlyأَنزَلْنَآWe have sent downءَايَٰتٍۢVersesبَيِّنَٰتٍclearوَلِلْكَٰفِرِينَAnd for the disbelieversعَذَابٌ(is) a punishmentمُّهِينٌhumiliating5
يَوْمَ(On the) Dayيَبْعَثُهُمُ(when) Allah will raise themٱللَّهُ(when) Allah will raise themجَمِيعًاallفَيُنَبِّئُهُمand inform themبِمَاof whatعَمِلُوٓا۟they didأَحْصَىٰهُAllah has recorded itٱللَّهُAllah has recorded itوَنَسُوهُwhile they forgot itوَٱللَّهُAnd Allahعَلَىٰ(is) overكُلِّallشَىْءٍthingsشَهِيدٌa Witness6
أَلَمْDo notتَرَyou seeأَنَّthatٱللَّهَAllahيَعْلَمُknowsمَاwhateverفِى(is) inٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِthe heavensوَمَاand whateverفِى(is) inٱلْأَرْضِthe earthمَاNotيَكُونُthere isمِنanyنَّجْوَىٰsecret counselثَلَٰثَةٍ(of) threeإِلَّاbutهُوَHe (is)رَابِعُهُمْ(the) fourth of themوَلَاand notخَمْسَةٍfiveإِلَّاbutهُوَHe (is)سَادِسُهُمْ(the) sixth of themوَلَآand notأَدْنَىٰlessمِنthanذَٰلِكَthatوَلَآand notأَكْثَرَmoreإِلَّاbutهُوَHeمَعَهُمْ(is) with themأَيْنَwhereverمَاwhereverكَانُوا۟they areثُمَّThenيُنَبِّئُهُمHe will inform themبِمَاof whatعَمِلُوا۟they didيَوْمَ(on the) Dayٱلْقِيَٰمَةِ(of) the ResurrectionإِنَّIndeedٱللَّهَAllahبِكُلِّof everyشَىْءٍthingعَلِيمٌ(is) All-Knower7
أَلَمْDo notتَرَyou seeإِلَى[to]ٱلَّذِينَthose whoنُهُوا۟were forbiddenعَنِfromٱلنَّجْوَىٰsecret counselsثُمَّthenيَعُودُونَthey returnلِمَاto whatنُهُوا۟they were forbiddenعَنْهُfrom [it]وَيَتَنَٰجَوْنَand they hold secret counselsبِٱلْإِثْمِfor sinوَٱلْعُدْوَٰنِand aggressionوَمَعْصِيَتِand disobedienceٱلرَّسُولِ(to) the MessengerوَإِذَاAnd whenجَآءُوكَthey come to youحَيَّوْكَthey greet youبِمَاwith whatلَمْnotيُحَيِّكَgreets youبِهِtherewithٱللَّهُAllahوَيَقُولُونَand they sayفِىٓamongأَنفُسِهِمْthemselvesلَوْلَاWhy (does) notيُعَذِّبُنَاAllah punish usٱللَّهُAllah punish usبِمَاfor whatنَقُولُwe sayحَسْبُهُمْSufficient (for) themجَهَنَّمُ(is) Hellيَصْلَوْنَهَاthey will burn in itفَبِئْسَand worst isٱلْمَصِيرُthe destination8
يَٰٓأَيُّهَاO you who believeٱلَّذِينَO you who believeءَامَنُوٓا۟O you who believeإِذَاWhenتَنَٰجَيْتُمْyou hold secret counselفَلَاthen (do) notتَتَنَٰجَوْا۟hold secret counselبِٱلْإِثْمِfor sinوَٱلْعُدْوَٰنِand aggressionوَمَعْصِيَتِand disobedienceٱلرَّسُولِ(to) the Messengerوَتَنَٰجَوْا۟but hold secret counselبِٱلْبِرِّfor righteousnessوَٱلتَّقْوَىٰand pietyوَٱتَّقُوا۟And fearٱللَّهَAllahٱلَّذِىٓthe One Whoإِلَيْهِto Himتُحْشَرُونَyou will be gathered9
إِنَّمَاOnlyٱلنَّجْوَىٰthe secret counselsمِنَ(are) fromٱلشَّيْطَٰنِthe Shaitaanلِيَحْزُنَthat he may grieveٱلَّذِينَthose whoءَامَنُوا۟believeوَلَيْسَbut notبِضَآرِّهِمْhe (can) harm themشَيْـًٔا(in) anythingإِلَّاexceptبِإِذْنِby Allah's permissionٱللَّهِby Allah's permissionوَعَلَىAnd uponٱللَّهِAllahفَلْيَتَوَكَّلِlet put (their) trustٱلْمُؤْمِنُونَthe believers10
يَٰٓأَيُّهَاO you who believeٱلَّذِينَO you who believeءَامَنُوٓا۟O you who believeإِذَاWhenقِيلَit is saidلَكُمْto youتَفَسَّحُوا۟Make roomفِىinٱلْمَجَٰلِسِthe assembliesفَٱفْسَحُوا۟then make roomيَفْسَحِAllah will make roomٱللَّهُAllah will make roomلَكُمْfor youوَإِذَاAnd whenقِيلَit is saidٱنشُزُوا۟Rise upفَٱنشُزُوا۟then rise upيَرْفَعِAllah will raiseٱللَّهُAllah will raiseٱلَّذِينَthose whoءَامَنُوا۟believeمِنكُمْamong youوَٱلَّذِينَand those whoأُوتُوا۟were givenٱلْعِلْمَthe knowledgeدَرَجَٰتٍ(in) degreesوَٱللَّهُAnd Allahبِمَاof whatتَعْمَلُونَyou doخَبِيرٌ(is) All-Aware11
يَٰٓأَيُّهَاO you who believeٱلَّذِينَO you who believeءَامَنُوٓا۟O you who believeإِذَاWhenنَٰجَيْتُمُyou privately consultٱلرَّسُولَthe Messengerفَقَدِّمُوا۟then offerبَيْنَbeforeيَدَىْbeforeنَجْوَىٰكُمْyour private consultationصَدَقَةًcharityذَٰلِكَThatخَيْرٌ(is) betterلَّكُمْfor youوَأَطْهَرُand purerفَإِنBut ifلَّمْnotتَجِدُوا۟you findفَإِنَّthen indeedٱللَّهَAllahغَفُورٌ(is) Oft-ForgivingرَّحِيمٌMost Merciful12
ءَأَشْفَقْتُمْAre you afraidأَنtoتُقَدِّمُوا۟offerبَيْنَbeforeيَدَىْbeforeنَجْوَىٰكُمْyour private consultationصَدَقَٰتٍcharitiesفَإِذْThen whenلَمْyou do notتَفْعَلُوا۟you do notوَتَابَand Allah has forgivenٱللَّهُand Allah has forgivenعَلَيْكُمْyouفَأَقِيمُوا۟then establishٱلصَّلَوٰةَthe prayerوَءَاتُوا۟and giveٱلزَّكَوٰةَthe zakahوَأَطِيعُوا۟and obeyٱللَّهَAllahوَرَسُولَهُۥand His MessengerوَٱللَّهُAnd Allahخَبِيرٌۢ(is) All-Awareبِمَاof whatتَعْمَلُونَyou do13
أَلَمْDo notتَرَyou seeإِلَى[to]ٱلَّذِينَthose whoتَوَلَّوْا۟take as alliesقَوْمًاa peopleغَضِبَwrathٱللَّهُ(of) Allahعَلَيْهِم(is) upon themمَّاThey (are) notهُمThey (are) notمِّنكُمْof youوَلَاand notمِنْهُمْof themوَيَحْلِفُونَand they swearعَلَىtoٱلْكَذِبِthe lieوَهُمْwhile theyيَعْلَمُونَknow14
أَعَدَّAllah has preparedٱللَّهُAllah has preparedلَهُمْfor themعَذَابًاa punishmentشَدِيدًاsevereإِنَّهُمْIndeed, [they]سَآءَevil isمَاwhatكَانُوا۟they used toيَعْمَلُونَdo15
ٱتَّخَذُوٓا۟They have takenأَيْمَٰنَهُمْtheir oathsجُنَّةً(as) a coverفَصَدُّوا۟so they hinderعَنfromسَبِيلِ(the) way of Allahٱللَّهِ(the) way of Allahفَلَهُمْso for themعَذَابٌ(is) a punishmentمُّهِينٌhumiliating16
لَّنNeverتُغْنِىَwill availعَنْهُمْthemأَمْوَٰلُهُمْtheir wealthوَلَآand notأَوْلَٰدُهُمtheir childrenمِّنَagainstٱللَّهِAllahشَيْـًٔا(in) anythingأُو۟لَٰٓئِكَThoseأَصْحَٰبُ(will be) companionsٱلنَّارِ(of) the Fireهُمْtheyفِيهَاin itخَٰلِدُونَwill abide forever17
يَوْمَ(On the) DayيَبْعَثُهُمُAllah will raise themٱللَّهُAllah will raise themجَمِيعًاallفَيَحْلِفُونَthen they will swearلَهُۥto Himكَمَاasيَحْلِفُونَthey swearلَكُمْto youوَيَحْسَبُونَAnd they thinkأَنَّهُمْthat theyعَلَىٰ(are) onشَىْءٍsomethingأَلَآNo doubtإِنَّهُمْIndeed, theyهُمُ[they]ٱلْكَٰذِبُونَ(are) the liars18
ٱسْتَحْوَذَHas overcomeعَلَيْهِمُthemٱلشَّيْطَٰنُthe Shaitaanفَأَنسَىٰهُمْso he made them forgetذِكْرَ(the) remembranceٱللَّهِ(of) Allahأُو۟لَٰٓئِكَThoseحِزْبُ(are the) partyٱلشَّيْطَٰنِ(of) the ShaitaanأَلَآNo doubtإِنَّIndeedحِزْبَ(the) partyٱلشَّيْطَٰنِ(of) the Shaitaanهُمُtheyٱلْخَٰسِرُونَ(will be) the losers19
إِنَّIndeedٱلَّذِينَthose whoيُحَآدُّونَopposeٱللَّهَAllahوَرَسُولَهُۥٓand His Messengerأُو۟لَٰٓئِكَthoseفِى(will be) amongٱلْأَذَلِّينَthe most humiliated20
كَتَبَAllah has decreedٱللَّهُAllah has decreedلَأَغْلِبَنَّSurely, I will overcomeأَنَاIوَرُسُلِىٓand My MessengersإِنَّIndeedٱللَّهَAllahقَوِىٌّ(is) All-StrongعَزِيزٌAll-Mighty21
لَّاYou will not findتَجِدُYou will not findقَوْمًاa peopleيُؤْمِنُونَwho believeبِٱللَّهِin Allahوَٱلْيَوْمِand the Dayٱلْءَاخِرِthe Lastيُوَآدُّونَlovingمَنْ(those) whoحَآدَّopposeٱللَّهَAllahوَرَسُولَهُۥand His Messengerوَلَوْeven ifكَانُوٓا۟they wereءَابَآءَهُمْtheir fathersأَوْorأَبْنَآءَهُمْtheir sonsأَوْorإِخْوَٰنَهُمْtheir brothersأَوْorعَشِيرَتَهُمْtheir kindredأُو۟لَٰٓئِكَThose كَتَبَHe has decreedفِىwithinقُلُوبِهِمُtheir heartsٱلْإِيمَٰنَfaithوَأَيَّدَهُمand supported themبِرُوحٍwith a spiritمِّنْهُfrom HimوَيُدْخِلُهُمْAnd He will admit themجَنَّٰتٍ(to) Gardensتَجْرِىflowمِنfromتَحْتِهَاunderneath itٱلْأَنْهَٰرُthe riversخَٰلِدِينَwill abide foreverفِيهَاin itرَضِىَAllah is pleasedٱللَّهُAllah is pleasedعَنْهُمْwith themوَرَضُوا۟and they are pleasedعَنْهُwith Himأُو۟لَٰٓئِكَThoseحِزْبُ(are the) partyٱللَّهِ(of) AllahأَلَآNo doubtإِنَّIndeedحِزْبَ(the) partyٱللَّهِ(of) Allahهُمُtheyٱلْمُفْلِحُونَ(are) the successful ones22

هُوَHeٱلَّذِىٓ(is) the One Whoأَخْرَجَexpelledٱلَّذِينَthose whoكَفَرُوا۟disbelievedمِنْfromأَهْلِ(the) Peopleٱلْكِتَٰبِ(of) the Scriptureمِنfromدِيَٰرِهِمْtheir homesلِأَوَّلِat (the) firstٱلْحَشْرِgatheringمَاNotظَنَنتُمْyou thinkأَنthatيَخْرُجُوا۟they would leaveوَظَنُّوٓا۟and they thoughtأَنَّهُمthat [they]مَّانِعَتُهُمْwould defend themحُصُونُهُمtheir fortressesمِّنَagainstٱللَّهِAllahفَأَتَىٰهُمُBut came to themٱللَّهُAllahمِنْfromحَيْثُwhereلَمْnotيَحْتَسِبُوا۟they expectedوَقَذَفَand He castفِىintoقُلُوبِهِمُtheir heartsٱلرُّعْبَ[the] terrorيُخْرِبُونَthey destroyedبُيُوتَهُمtheir housesبِأَيْدِيهِمْwith their handsوَأَيْدِىand the handsٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ(of) the believersفَٱعْتَبِرُوا۟So take a lessonيَٰٓأُو۟لِىO those endowedٱلْأَبْصَٰرِ(with) insight2
وَلَوْلَآAnd if notأَن[that]كَتَبَ(had) decreedٱللَّهُAllahعَلَيْهِمُfor themٱلْجَلَآءَthe exileلَعَذَّبَهُمْcertainly He (would) have punished themفِىinٱلدُّنْيَاthe worldوَلَهُمْand for themفِىinٱلْءَاخِرَةِthe Hereafterعَذَابُ(is) a punishmentٱلنَّارِ(of) the Fire3
ذَٰلِكَThatبِأَنَّهُمْ(is) because [they]شَآقُّوا۟they opposedٱللَّهَAllahوَرَسُولَهُۥand His MessengerوَمَنAnd whoeverيُشَآقِّopposesٱللَّهَAllahفَإِنَّthen indeedٱللَّهَAllahشَدِيدُ(is) severeٱلْعِقَابِ(in) penalty4
مَاWhateverقَطَعْتُمyou cut downمِّنofلِّينَةٍ(the) palm-treesأَوْorتَرَكْتُمُوهَاyou left themقَآئِمَةًstandingعَلَىٰٓonأُصُولِهَاtheir rootsفَبِإِذْنِit (was) by the permissionٱللَّهِ(of) Allahوَلِيُخْزِىَand that He may disgraceٱلْفَٰسِقِينَthe defiantly disobedient5
وَمَآAnd whatأَفَآءَ(was) restoredٱللَّهُ(by) AllahعَلَىٰtoرَسُولِهِۦHis Messengerمِنْهُمْfrom themفَمَآthen notأَوْجَفْتُمْyou made expeditionعَلَيْهِfor itمِنْofخَيْلٍhorsesوَلَاand notرِكَابٍcamelsوَلَٰكِنَّbutٱللَّهَAllahيُسَلِّطُgives powerرُسُلَهُۥ(to) His MessengersعَلَىٰoverمَنwhomيَشَآءُHe willsوَٱللَّهُAnd Allahعَلَىٰ(is) onكُلِّeveryشَىْءٍthingقَدِيرٌAll-Powerful6
مَّآWhatأَفَآءَ(was) restoredٱللَّهُ(by) AllahعَلَىٰtoرَسُولِهِۦHis Messengerمِنْfromأَهْلِ(the) peopleٱلْقُرَىٰ(of) the townsفَلِلَّهِ(it is) for Allahوَلِلرَّسُولِand His Messengerوَلِذِىand for thoseٱلْقُرْبَىٰ(of) the kindredوَٱلْيَتَٰمَىٰand the orphansوَٱلْمَسَٰكِينِand the needyوَٱبْنِandٱلسَّبِيلِthe wayfarerكَىْthatلَاnotيَكُونَit becomesدُولَةًۢa (perpetual) circulationبَيْنَbetweenٱلْأَغْنِيَآءِthe richمِنكُمْamong youوَمَآAnd whateverءَاتَىٰكُمُgives youٱلرَّسُولُthe Messengerفَخُذُوهُtake itوَمَاand whateverنَهَىٰكُمْhe forbids youعَنْهُfrom itفَٱنتَهُوا۟refrainوَٱتَّقُوا۟And fearٱللَّهَAllahإِنَّIndeedٱللَّهَAllahشَدِيدُ(is) severeٱلْعِقَابِ(in) penalty7
لِلْفُقَرَآءِFor the poorٱلْمُهَٰجِرِينَemigrantsٱلَّذِينَthose whoأُخْرِجُوا۟were expelledمِنfromدِيَٰرِهِمْtheir homesوَأَمْوَٰلِهِمْand their propertiesيَبْتَغُونَseekingفَضْلًاbountyمِّنَfromٱللَّهِAllahوَرِضْوَٰنًاand pleasureوَيَنصُرُونَand helpingٱللَّهَAllahوَرَسُولَهُۥٓand His Messengerأُو۟لَٰٓئِكَThoseهُمُtheyٱلصَّٰدِقُونَ(are) the truthful8
وَٱلَّذِينَAnd those whoتَبَوَّءُوsettledٱلدَّارَ(in) the homeوَٱلْإِيمَٰنَand (accepted) faithمِنfromقَبْلِهِمْbefore themيُحِبُّونَloveمَنْ(those) whoهَاجَرَemigratedإِلَيْهِمْto themوَلَاand notيَجِدُونَthey findفِىinصُدُورِهِمْtheir breastsحَاجَةًany wantمِّمَّآof whatأُوتُوا۟they were givenوَيُؤْثِرُونَbut preferعَلَىٰٓoverأَنفُسِهِمْthemselvesوَلَوْeven thoughكَانَwasبِهِمْwith themخَصَاصَةٌpovertyوَمَنAnd whoeverيُوقَis savedشُحَّ(from) stinginessنَفْسِهِۦ(of) his soulفَأُو۟لَٰٓئِكَthen thoseهُمُ[they]ٱلْمُفْلِحُونَ(are) the successful ones9
وَٱلَّذِينَAnd those whoجَآءُوcameمِنۢfromبَعْدِهِمْafter themيَقُولُونَthey sayرَبَّنَاOur Lordٱغْفِرْforgiveلَنَاusوَلِإِخْوَٰنِنَاand our brothersٱلَّذِينَwhoسَبَقُونَاpreceded usبِٱلْإِيمَٰنِin faithوَلَاand (do) notتَجْعَلْputفِىinقُلُوبِنَاour heartsغِلًّاany rancorلِّلَّذِينَtowards those whoءَامَنُوا۟believedرَبَّنَآOur Lordإِنَّكَindeed Youرَءُوفٌ(are) Full of KindnessرَّحِيمٌMost Merciful10
أَلَمْDo notتَرَyou seeإِلَى[to]ٱلَّذِينَthose whoنَافَقُوا۟(were) hypocritesيَقُولُونَsayingلِإِخْوَٰنِهِمُto their brothersٱلَّذِينَthose whoكَفَرُوا۟disbelievedمِنْamongأَهْلِthe Peopleٱلْكِتَٰبِ(of) the ScriptureلَئِنْIfأُخْرِجْتُمْyou are expelledلَنَخْرُجَنَّsurely we will leaveمَعَكُمْwith youوَلَاand notنُطِيعُwe will obeyفِيكُمْconcerning youأَحَدًاanyoneأَبَدًاeverوَإِنand ifقُوتِلْتُمْyou are foughtلَنَنصُرَنَّكُمْcertainly we will help youوَٱللَّهُAnd Allahيَشْهَدُbears witnessإِنَّهُمْthat theyلَكَٰذِبُونَ(are) surely liars11
لَئِنْIfأُخْرِجُوا۟they are expelledلَاnotيَخْرُجُونَthey will leaveمَعَهُمْwith themوَلَئِنand ifقُوتِلُوا۟they are foughtلَاnotيَنصُرُونَهُمْthey will help themوَلَئِنAnd ifنَّصَرُوهُمْthey help themلَيُوَلُّنَّcertainly they will turnٱلْأَدْبَٰرَ(their) backsثُمَّthenلَاnotيُنصَرُونَthey will be helped12
لَأَنتُمْCertainly youأَشَدُّ(are) more intenseرَهْبَةً(in) fearفِىinصُدُورِهِمtheir breastsمِّنَthanٱللَّهِAllahذَٰلِكَThatبِأَنَّهُمْ(is) because theyقَوْمٌ(are) a peopleلَّا(who do) notيَفْقَهُونَunderstand13
لَاNotيُقَٰتِلُونَكُمْwill they fight youجَمِيعًاallإِلَّاexceptفِىinقُرًىtownsمُّحَصَّنَةٍfortifiedأَوْorمِنfromوَرَآءِbehindجُدُرٍۢwallsبَأْسُهُمTheir violenceبَيْنَهُمْamong themselvesشَدِيدٌ(is) severeتَحْسَبُهُمْYou think theyجَمِيعًا(are) unitedوَقُلُوبُهُمْbut their heartsشَتَّىٰ(are) dividedذَٰلِكَThatبِأَنَّهُمْ(is) because theyقَوْمٌ(are) a peopleلَّاnotيَعْقِلُونَthey reason14
كَمَثَلِLike (the) exampleٱلَّذِينَ(of) thoseمِنfromقَبْلِهِمْbefore themقَرِيبًاshortlyذَاقُوا۟they tastedوَبَالَ(the) evil resultأَمْرِهِمْ(of) their affairوَلَهُمْand for themعَذَابٌ(is) a punishmentأَلِيمٌpainful15
كَمَثَلِLike (the) exampleٱلشَّيْطَٰنِ(of) the Shaitaanإِذْwhenقَالَhe saysلِلْإِنسَٰنِto manٱكْفُرْDisbelieveفَلَمَّاBut whenكَفَرَhe disbelievesقَالَhe saysإِنِّىIndeed, I amبَرِىٓءٌdisassociatedمِّنكَfrom youإِنِّىٓIndeed, [I]أَخَافُI fearٱللَّهَAllahرَبَّ(the) Lordٱلْعَٰلَمِينَ(of) the worlds16
فَكَانَSo will beعَٰقِبَتَهُمَآ(the) end of both of themأَنَّهُمَاthat theyفِى(will be) inٱلنَّارِthe Fireخَٰلِدَيْنِabiding foreverفِيهَاthereinوَذَٰلِكَAnd thatجَزَٰٓؤُا۟(is the) recompenseٱلظَّٰلِمِينَ(of) the wrongdoers17
يَٰٓأَيُّهَاOٱلَّذِينَyou (who)ءَامَنُوا۟believeٱتَّقُوا۟FearٱللَّهَAllahوَلْتَنظُرْand let lookنَفْسٌevery soulمَّاwhatقَدَّمَتْit has sent forthلِغَدٍfor tomorrowوَٱتَّقُوا۟and fearٱللَّهَAllahإِنَّIndeedٱللَّهَAllahخَبِيرٌۢ(is) All-Awareبِمَاof whatتَعْمَلُونَyou do18
وَلَاAnd (do) notتَكُونُوا۟beكَٱلَّذِينَlike those whoنَسُوا۟forgotٱللَّهَAllahفَأَنسَىٰهُمْso He made them forgetأَنفُسَهُمْthemselvesأُو۟لَٰٓئِكَThoseهُمُ[they]ٱلْفَٰسِقُونَ(are) the defiantly disobedient19
لَاNotيَسْتَوِىٓequalأَصْحَٰبُ(are the) companionsٱلنَّارِ(of) the Fireوَأَصْحَٰبُand (the) companionsٱلْجَنَّةِ(of) Paradiseأَصْحَٰبُ(The) companionsٱلْجَنَّةِ(of) Paradiseهُمُtheyٱلْفَآئِزُونَ(are) the achievers20
لَوْIfأَنزَلْنَاWe (had) sent downهَٰذَاthisٱلْقُرْءَانَQuranعَلَىٰonجَبَلٍa mountainلَّرَأَيْتَهُۥsurely you (would) have seen itخَٰشِعًاhumbledمُّتَصَدِّعًاbreaking asunderمِّنْfromخَشْيَةِ(the) fearٱللَّهِ(of) AllahوَتِلْكَAnd theseٱلْأَمْثَٰلُexamplesنَضْرِبُهَاWe present themلِلنَّاسِto the peopleلَعَلَّهُمْso that they mayيَتَفَكَّرُونَgive thought21
هُوَHeٱللَّهُ(is) Allahٱلَّذِىthe One Whoلَآ(there is) noإِلَٰهَgodإِلَّاbutهُوَHeعَٰلِمُ(the) All-Knowerٱلْغَيْبِ(of) the unseenوَٱلشَّهَٰدَةِand the witnessedهُوَHeٱلرَّحْمَٰنُ(is) the Most Graciousٱلرَّحِيمُthe Most Merciful22
هُوَHeٱللَّهُ(is) Allahٱلَّذِىthe One Whoلَآ(there is) noإِلَٰهَgodإِلَّاbutهُوَHeٱلْمَلِكُthe Sovereignٱلْقُدُّوسُthe Holy Oneٱلسَّلَٰمُthe Giver of Peaceٱلْمُؤْمِنُthe Giver of Securityٱلْمُهَيْمِنُthe Guardianٱلْعَزِيزُthe All-Mightyٱلْجَبَّارُthe Irresistibleٱلْمُتَكَبِّرُthe SupremeسُبْحَٰنَGlory (be to)ٱللَّهِAllahعَمَّاfrom whatيُشْرِكُونَthey associate (with Him)23
هُوَHeٱللَّهُ(is) Allahٱلْخَٰلِقُthe Creatorٱلْبَارِئُthe Inventorٱلْمُصَوِّرُthe FashionerلَهُFor Himٱلْأَسْمَآءُ(are) the namesٱلْحُسْنَىٰthe beautifulيُسَبِّحُGlorifiesلَهُۥHimمَاwhateverفِى(is) inٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِthe heavensوَٱلْأَرْضِand the earthوَهُوَAnd Heٱلْعَزِيزُ(is) the All-Mightyٱلْحَكِيمُthe All-Wise24

يَٰٓأَيُّهَاO youٱلَّذِينَwhoءَامَنُوا۟believeلَا(Do) notتَتَّخِذُوا۟takeعَدُوِّىMy enemiesوَعَدُوَّكُمْand your enemiesأَوْلِيَآءَ(as) alliesتُلْقُونَofferingإِلَيْهِمthemبِٱلْمَوَدَّةِloveوَقَدْwhileكَفَرُوا۟they have disbelievedبِمَاin whatجَآءَكُمcame to youمِّنَofٱلْحَقِّthe truthيُخْرِجُونَdriving outٱلرَّسُولَthe Messengerوَإِيَّاكُمْand yourselvesأَنbecauseتُؤْمِنُوا۟you believeبِٱللَّهِin Allahرَبِّكُمْyour LordإِنIfكُنتُمْyouخَرَجْتُمْcome forthجِهَٰدًا(to) striveفِىinسَبِيلِىMy wayوَٱبْتِغَآءَand (to) seekمَرْضَاتِىMy PleasureتُسِرُّونَYou confideإِلَيْهِمto themبِٱلْمَوَدَّةِloveوَأَنَاbut I Amأَعْلَمُmost knowingبِمَآof whatأَخْفَيْتُمْyou concealوَمَآand whatأَعْلَنتُمْyou declareوَمَنAnd whoeverيَفْعَلْهُdoes itمِنكُمْamong youفَقَدْthen certainlyضَلَّhe has strayedسَوَآءَ(from the) straightٱلسَّبِيلِpath1
إِنIfيَثْقَفُوكُمْthey gain dominance over youيَكُونُوا۟they would beلَكُمْto youأَعْدَآءًenemiesوَيَبْسُطُوٓا۟and extendإِلَيْكُمْagainst youأَيْدِيَهُمْtheir handsوَأَلْسِنَتَهُمand their tonguesبِٱلسُّوٓءِwith evilوَوَدُّوا۟and they desireلَوْthatتَكْفُرُونَyou would disbelieve2
لَنNeverتَنفَعَكُمْwill benefit youأَرْحَامُكُمْyour relativesوَلَآand notأَوْلَٰدُكُمْyour childrenيَوْمَ(on the) Dayٱلْقِيَٰمَةِ(of) the ResurrectionيَفْصِلُHe will judgeبَيْنَكُمْbetween youوَٱللَّهُAnd Allahبِمَاof whatتَعْمَلُونَyou doبَصِيرٌ(is) All-Seer3
قَدْIndeedكَانَتْ(there) isلَكُمْfor youأُسْوَةٌan exampleحَسَنَةٌgoodفِىٓinإِبْرَٰهِيمَIbrahimوَٱلَّذِينَand thoseمَعَهُۥٓwith himإِذْwhenقَالُوا۟they saidلِقَوْمِهِمْto their peopleإِنَّاIndeed, weبُرَءَٰٓؤُا۟(are) disassociatedمِنكُمْfrom youوَمِمَّاand from whatتَعْبُدُونَyou worshipمِنfromدُونِbesidesٱللَّهِAllahكَفَرْنَاWe have deniedبِكُمْyouوَبَدَاand has appearedبَيْنَنَاbetween usوَبَيْنَكُمُand between youٱلْعَدَٰوَةُenmityوَٱلْبَغْضَآءُand hatredأَبَدًاforeverحَتَّىٰuntilتُؤْمِنُوا۟you believeبِٱللَّهِin AllahوَحْدَهُۥٓAloneإِلَّاExceptقَوْلَ(the) sayingإِبْرَٰهِيمَ(of) Ibrahimلِأَبِيهِto his fatherلَأَسْتَغْفِرَنَّSurely I ask forgivenessلَكَfor youوَمَآbut notأَمْلِكُI have powerلَكَfor youمِنَfromٱللَّهِAllahمِنofشَىْءٍanythingرَّبَّنَاOur Lordعَلَيْكَupon Youتَوَكَّلْنَاwe put our trustوَإِلَيْكَand to Youأَنَبْنَاwe turnوَإِلَيْكَand to Youٱلْمَصِيرُ(is) the final return4
رَبَّنَاOur Lordلَا(do) notتَجْعَلْنَاmake usفِتْنَةًa trialلِّلَّذِينَfor those whoكَفَرُوا۟disbelieveوَٱغْفِرْand forgiveلَنَاusرَبَّنَآour LordإِنَّكَIndeed Youأَنتَ[You]ٱلْعَزِيزُ(are) the All-Mightyٱلْحَكِيمُthe All-Wise5
لَقَدْCertainlyكَانَ(there) isلَكُمْfor youفِيهِمْin themأُسْوَةٌan exampleحَسَنَةٌgoodلِّمَنfor (he) whoكَانَisيَرْجُوا۟hopefulٱللَّهَ(in) Allahوَٱلْيَوْمَand the Dayٱلْءَاخِرَthe LastوَمَنAnd whoeverيَتَوَلَّturns awayفَإِنَّthen indeedٱللَّهَAllahهُوَHeٱلْغَنِىُّ(is) Free of needٱلْحَمِيدُthe Praiseworthy6
عَسَىPerhapsٱللَّهُAllahأَن[that]يَجْعَلَwill putبَيْنَكُمْbetween youوَبَيْنَand betweenٱلَّذِينَthose (to) whomعَادَيْتُمyou have been enemiesمِّنْهُمamong themمَّوَدَّةًloveوَٱللَّهُAnd Allahقَدِيرٌ(is) All-PowerfulوَٱللَّهُAnd Allahغَفُورٌ(is) Oft-ForgivingرَّحِيمٌMost Merciful7
لَّاNotيَنْهَىٰكُمُ(does) forbid youٱللَّهُAllahعَنِfromٱلَّذِينَthose whoلَمْ(do) notيُقَٰتِلُوكُمْfight youفِىinٱلدِّينِthe religionوَلَمْand (do) notيُخْرِجُوكُمdrive you outمِّنofدِيَٰرِكُمْyour homesأَنthatتَبَرُّوهُمْyou deal kindlyوَتُقْسِطُوٓا۟and deal justlyإِلَيْهِمْwith themإِنَّIndeedٱللَّهَAllahيُحِبُّlovesٱلْمُقْسِطِينَthose who act justly8
إِنَّمَاOnlyيَنْهَىٰكُمُforbids youٱللَّهُAllahعَنِfromٱلَّذِينَthose whoقَٰتَلُوكُمْfight youفِىinٱلدِّينِthe religionوَأَخْرَجُوكُمand drive you outمِّنofدِيَٰرِكُمْyour homesوَظَٰهَرُوا۟and supportعَلَىٰٓinإِخْرَاجِكُمْyour expulsionأَنthatتَوَلَّوْهُمْyou make them alliesوَمَنAnd whoeverيَتَوَلَّهُمْmakes them alliesفَأُو۟لَٰٓئِكَthen thoseهُمُ[they]ٱلظَّٰلِمُونَ(are) the wrongdoers9
يَٰٓأَيُّهَاO youٱلَّذِينَwhoءَامَنُوٓا۟believeإِذَاWhenجَآءَكُمُcome to youٱلْمُؤْمِنَٰتُthe believing womenمُهَٰجِرَٰتٍ(as) emigrantsفَٱمْتَحِنُوهُنَّthen examine themٱللَّهُAllahأَعْلَمُ(is) most knowingبِإِيمَٰنِهِنَّof their faithفَإِنْAnd ifعَلِمْتُمُوهُنَّyou know themمُؤْمِنَٰتٍ(to be) believersفَلَاthen (do) notتَرْجِعُوهُنَّreturn themإِلَىtoٱلْكُفَّارِthe disbelieversلَاNotهُنَّtheyحِلٌّ(are) lawfulلَّهُمْfor themوَلَاand notهُمْtheyيَحِلُّونَare lawfulلَهُنَّfor themوَءَاتُوهُمBut give themمَّآwhatأَنفَقُوا۟they have spentوَلَاAnd notجُنَاحَany blameعَلَيْكُمْupon youأَنifتَنكِحُوهُنَّyou marry themإِذَآwhenءَاتَيْتُمُوهُنَّyou have given themأُجُورَهُنَّtheir (bridal) duesوَلَاAnd (do) notتُمْسِكُوا۟holdبِعِصَمِto marriage bondsٱلْكَوَافِرِ(with) disbelieving womenوَسْـَٔلُوا۟but ask (for)مَآwhatأَنفَقْتُمْyou have spentوَلْيَسْـَٔلُوا۟and let them askمَآwhatأَنفَقُوا۟they have spentذَٰلِكُمْThatحُكْمُ(is the) Judgmentٱللَّهِ(of) AllahيَحْكُمُHe judgesبَيْنَكُمْbetween youوَٱللَّهُAnd Allahعَلِيمٌ(is) All-KnowingحَكِيمٌAll-Wise10
وَإِنAnd ifفَاتَكُمْhave gone from youشَىْءٌanyمِّنْofأَزْوَٰجِكُمْyour wivesإِلَىtoٱلْكُفَّارِthe disbelieversفَعَاقَبْتُمْthen your turn comesفَـَٔاتُوا۟then giveٱلَّذِينَ(to) those whoذَهَبَتْhave goneأَزْوَٰجُهُمtheir wivesمِّثْلَ(the) likeمَآ(of) whatأَنفَقُوا۟they had spentوَٱتَّقُوا۟And fearٱللَّهَAllahٱلَّذِىٓ(in) Whomأَنتُمyouبِهِۦ[in Him]مُؤْمِنُونَ(are) believers11
يَٰٓأَيُّهَاOٱلنَّبِىُّProphetإِذَاWhenجَآءَكَcome to youٱلْمُؤْمِنَٰتُthe believing womenيُبَايِعْنَكَpledging to youعَلَىٰٓ[on]أَنthatلَّاnotيُشْرِكْنَthey will associateبِٱللَّهِwith Allahشَيْـًٔاanythingوَلَاand notيَسْرِقْنَthey will stealوَلَاand notيَزْنِينَthey will commit adulteryوَلَاand notيَقْتُلْنَthey will killأَوْلَٰدَهُنَّtheir childrenوَلَاand notيَأْتِينَthey bringبِبُهْتَٰنٍslanderيَفْتَرِينَهُۥthey invent itبَيْنَbetweenأَيْدِيهِنَّtheir handsوَأَرْجُلِهِنَّand their feetوَلَاand notيَعْصِينَكَthey will disobey youفِىinمَعْرُوفٍ(the) rightفَبَايِعْهُنَّthen accept their pledgeوَٱسْتَغْفِرْand ask forgivenessلَهُنَّfor themٱللَّهَ(from) AllahإِنَّIndeedٱللَّهَAllahغَفُورٌ(is) Oft-ForgivingرَّحِيمٌMost Merciful12
يَٰٓأَيُّهَاO youٱلَّذِينَwhoءَامَنُوا۟believeلَا(Do) notتَتَوَلَّوْا۟make alliesقَوْمًا(of) a peopleغَضِبَ(The) wrathٱللَّهُ(of) Allahعَلَيْهِمْ(is) upon themقَدْIndeedيَئِسُوا۟they despairمِنَofٱلْءَاخِرَةِthe Hereafterكَمَاasيَئِسَdespairٱلْكُفَّارُthe disbelieversمِنْofأَصْحَٰبِ(the) companionsٱلْقُبُورِ(of) the graves13

سَبَّحَGlorifiesلِلَّهِAllahمَاwhateverفِى(is) inٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِthe heavensوَمَاand whateverفِى(is) inٱلْأَرْضِthe earthوَهُوَAnd Heٱلْعَزِيزُ(is) the All-Mightyٱلْحَكِيمُthe All-Wise1
يَٰٓأَيُّهَاOٱلَّذِينَ(you) whoءَامَنُوا۟believeلِمَWhyتَقُولُونَ(do) you sayمَاwhatلَاnotتَفْعَلُونَyou do2
كَبُرَGreat isمَقْتًاhatredعِندَwithٱللَّهِAllahأَنthatتَقُولُوا۟you sayمَاwhatلَاnotتَفْعَلُونَyou do3
إِنَّIndeedٱللَّهَAllahيُحِبُّlovesٱلَّذِينَthose whoيُقَٰتِلُونَfightفِىinسَبِيلِهِۦHis Wayصَفًّا(in) a rowكَأَنَّهُمas if theyبُنْيَٰنٌ(were) a structureمَّرْصُوصٌjoined firmly4
وَإِذْAnd whenقَالَsaidمُوسَىٰMusaلِقَوْمِهِۦto his peopleيَٰقَوْمِO my peopleلِمَWhyتُؤْذُونَنِىdo you hurt meوَقَدwhile certainlyتَّعْلَمُونَyou knowأَنِّىthat I amرَسُولُ(the) Messengerٱللَّهِ(of) Allahإِلَيْكُمْto youفَلَمَّاThen whenزَاغُوٓا۟they deviatedأَزَاغَ(was caused to) deviateٱللَّهُ(by) Allahقُلُوبَهُمْtheir heartsوَٱللَّهُAnd Allahلَا(does) notيَهْدِىguideٱلْقَوْمَthe peopleٱلْفَٰسِقِينَthe defiantly disobedient5
وَإِذْAnd whenقَالَsaidعِيسَىIsaٱبْنُsonمَرْيَمَ(of) MaryamيَٰبَنِىٓO Childrenإِسْرَٰٓءِيلَ(of) IsraelإِنِّىIndeed, I amرَسُولُ(the) Messengerٱللَّهِ(of) Allahإِلَيْكُمto youمُّصَدِّقًاconfirmingلِّمَاthat whichبَيْنَ(was) betweenيَدَىَّmy handsمِنَofٱلتَّوْرَىٰةِthe Tauratوَمُبَشِّرًۢاand bringing glad tidingsبِرَسُولٍ(of) a Messengerيَأْتِىto comeمِنۢfromبَعْدِىafter meٱسْمُهُۥٓwhose name (will be)أَحْمَدُAhmadفَلَمَّاBut whenجَآءَهُمhe came to themبِٱلْبَيِّنَٰتِwith clear proofsقَالُوا۟they saidهَٰذَاThisسِحْرٌ(is) a magicمُّبِينٌclear6
وَمَنْAnd whoأَظْلَمُ(is) more wrongمِمَّنِthan (one) whoٱفْتَرَىٰinventsعَلَىuponٱللَّهِAllahٱلْكَذِبَthe lieوَهُوَwhile heيُدْعَىٰٓis invitedإِلَىtoٱلْإِسْلَٰمِIslamوَٱللَّهُAnd Allahلَا(does) notيَهْدِىguideٱلْقَوْمَthe peopleٱلظَّٰلِمِينَ[the] wrongdoers7
يُرِيدُونَThey intendلِيُطْفِـُٔوا۟to put outنُورَ(the) lightٱللَّهِ(of) Allahبِأَفْوَٰهِهِمْwith their mouthsوَٱللَّهُbut Allahمُتِمُّwill perfectنُورِهِۦHis Lightوَلَوْalthoughكَرِهَdislikeٱلْكَٰفِرُونَthe disbelievers8
هُوَHeٱلَّذِىٓ(is) the One WhoأَرْسَلَsentرَسُولَهُۥHis Messengerبِٱلْهُدَىٰwith guidanceوَدِينِand (the) religionٱلْحَقِّ(of) the truthلِيُظْهِرَهُۥto make it prevailعَلَىoverٱلدِّينِthe religionكُلِّهِۦall of themوَلَوْalthoughكَرِهَdislike (it)ٱلْمُشْرِكُونَthe polytheists9
يَٰٓأَيُّهَاOٱلَّذِينَ(you) whoءَامَنُوا۟believeهَلْShallأَدُلُّكُمْI guide youعَلَىٰtoتِجَٰرَةٍa transactionتُنجِيكُم(that) will save youمِّنْfromعَذَابٍa punishmentأَلِيمٍpainful10
تُؤْمِنُونَBelieveبِٱللَّهِin Allahوَرَسُولِهِۦand His Messengerوَتُجَٰهِدُونَand striveفِىinسَبِيلِ(the) wayٱللَّهِ(of) Allahبِأَمْوَٰلِكُمْwith your wealthوَأَنفُسِكُمْand your livesذَٰلِكُمْThatخَيْرٌ(is) betterلَّكُمْfor youإِنifكُنتُمْyouتَعْلَمُونَknow11
يَغْفِرْHe will forgiveلَكُمْfor youذُنُوبَكُمْyour sinsوَيُدْخِلْكُمْand admit youجَنَّٰتٍ(in) Gardensتَجْرِىflowمِنfromتَحْتِهَاunderneath itٱلْأَنْهَٰرُthe riversوَمَسَٰكِنَand dwellingsطَيِّبَةًpleasantفِىinجَنَّٰتِGardensعَدْنٍ(of) EternityذَٰلِكَThatٱلْفَوْزُ(is) the successٱلْعَظِيمُthe great12
وَأُخْرَىٰAnd anotherتُحِبُّونَهَاthat you love نَصْرٌa helpمِّنَfromٱللَّهِAllahوَفَتْحٌand a victoryقَرِيبٌnearوَبَشِّرِand give glad tidingsٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ(to) the believers13
يَٰٓأَيُّهَاO youٱلَّذِينَwhoءَامَنُوا۟believeكُونُوٓا۟Beأَنصَارَhelpersٱللَّهِ(of) AllahكَمَاasقَالَsaidعِيسَىIsaٱبْنُsonمَرْيَمَ(of) Maryamلِلْحَوَارِيِّۦنَto the disciplesمَنْWhoأَنصَارِىٓ(are) my helpersإِلَىforٱللَّهِAllahقَالَSaidٱلْحَوَارِيُّونَthe disciplesنَحْنُWeأَنصَارُ(are) the helpersٱللَّهِ(of) AllahفَـَٔامَنَتThen believedطَّآئِفَةٌa groupمِّنۢofبَنِىٓChildrenإِسْرَٰٓءِيلَ(of) Israelوَكَفَرَتand disbelievedطَّآئِفَةٌa groupفَأَيَّدْنَاSo We supportedٱلَّذِينَthose whoءَامَنُوا۟believedعَلَىٰagainstعَدُوِّهِمْtheir enemyفَأَصْبَحُوا۟and they becameظَٰهِرِينَdominant14

هُوَHeٱلَّذِى(is) the One Whoبَعَثَsentفِىamongٱلْأُمِّيِّۦنَthe unletteredرَسُولًاa Messengerمِّنْهُمْfrom themselvesيَتْلُوا۟recitingعَلَيْهِمْto themءَايَٰتِهِۦHis Versesوَيُزَكِّيهِمْand purifying themوَيُعَلِّمُهُمُand teaching themٱلْكِتَٰبَthe Bookوَٱلْحِكْمَةَand the wisdomوَإِنalthoughكَانُوا۟they wereمِنfromقَبْلُbeforeلَفِىsurely inضَلَٰلٍan errorمُّبِينٍclear2
وَءَاخَرِينَAnd othersمِنْهُمْamong themلَمَّاwho have not yetيَلْحَقُوا۟joinedبِهِمْthemوَهُوَand Heٱلْعَزِيزُ(is) the All-Mightyٱلْحَكِيمُthe All-Wise3
ذَٰلِكَThatفَضْلُ(is the) Bountyٱللَّهِ(of) AllahيُؤْتِيهِHe gives itمَن(to) whomيَشَآءُHe willsوَٱللَّهُAnd Allahذُو(is the) Possessorٱلْفَضْلِ(of) Bountyٱلْعَظِيمِthe Great4
مَثَلُ(The) likenessٱلَّذِينَ(of) those whoحُمِّلُوا۟were entrustedٱلتَّوْرَىٰةَ(with) the Tauratثُمَّthenلَمْnotيَحْمِلُوهَاthey bore itكَمَثَلِ(is) likeٱلْحِمَارِthe donkeyيَحْمِلُwho carriesأَسْفَارًۢاbooksبِئْسَWretched isمَثَلُ(the) exampleٱلْقَوْمِ(of) the peopleٱلَّذِينَwhoكَذَّبُوا۟denyبِـَٔايَٰتِ(the) Signsٱللَّهِ(of) AllahوَٱللَّهُAnd Allahلَا(does) notيَهْدِىguideٱلْقَوْمَthe peopleٱلظَّٰلِمِينَthe wrongdoers5
قُلْSayيَٰٓأَيُّهَاOٱلَّذِينَyou (who)هَادُوٓا۟(are) JewsإِنIfزَعَمْتُمْyou claimأَنَّكُمْthat youأَوْلِيَآءُ(are) alliesلِلَّهِof Allahمِنfromدُونِexcludingٱلنَّاسِthe peopleفَتَمَنَّوُا۟then wishٱلْمَوْتَ(for) the deathإِنifكُنتُمْyou areصَٰدِقِينَtruthful6
وَلَاBut notيَتَمَنَّوْنَهُۥٓthey will wish for itأَبَدًۢاeverبِمَاfor whatقَدَّمَتْ(have) sent forthأَيْدِيهِمْtheir handsوَٱللَّهُAnd Allahعَلِيمٌۢ(is) All-Knowingبِٱلظَّٰلِمِينَof the wrongdoers7
قُلْSayإِنَّIndeedٱلْمَوْتَthe deathٱلَّذِىwhichتَفِرُّونَyou fleeمِنْهُfrom itفَإِنَّهُۥthen surely itمُلَٰقِيكُمْ(will) meet youثُمَّThenتُرَدُّونَyou will be sent backإِلَىٰtoعَٰلِمِ(the) All-Knowerٱلْغَيْبِ(of) the unseenوَٱلشَّهَٰدَةِand the witnessedفَيُنَبِّئُكُمand He will inform youبِمَا[of] whatكُنتُمْyou used toتَعْمَلُونَdo8
يَٰٓأَيُّهَاOٱلَّذِينَ(you) whoءَامَنُوٓا۟believeإِذَاWhenنُودِىَ(the) call is madeلِلصَّلَوٰةِfor (the) prayerمِنonيَوْمِ(the) dayٱلْجُمُعَةِ(of) Fridayفَٱسْعَوْا۟then hastenإِلَىٰtoذِكْرِ(the) remembranceٱللَّهِ(of) Allahوَذَرُوا۟and leaveٱلْبَيْعَthe businessذَٰلِكُمْThatخَيْرٌ(is) betterلَّكُمْfor youإِنifكُنتُمْyouتَعْلَمُونَknow9
فَإِذَاThen whenقُضِيَتِis concludedٱلصَّلَوٰةُthe prayerفَٱنتَشِرُوا۟then disperseفِىinٱلْأَرْضِthe landوَٱبْتَغُوا۟and seekمِنfromفَضْلِ(the) Bountyٱللَّهِ(of) Allahوَٱذْكُرُوا۟and rememberٱللَّهَAllahكَثِيرًاmuchلَّعَلَّكُمْso that you mayتُفْلِحُونَsucceed10
وَإِذَاAnd whenرَأَوْا۟they sawتِجَٰرَةًa transactionأَوْorلَهْوًاa sportٱنفَضُّوٓا۟they rushedإِلَيْهَاto itوَتَرَكُوكَand left youقَآئِمًاstandingقُلْSayمَاWhatعِندَ(is) withٱللَّهِAllahخَيْرٌ(is) betterمِّنَthanٱللَّهْوِthe sportوَمِنَand fromٱلتِّجَٰرَةِ(any) transactionوَٱللَّهُAnd Allahخَيْرُ(is the) Bestٱلرَّٰزِقِينَ(of) the Providers11

إِذَاWhenجَآءَكَcome to youٱلْمُنَٰفِقُونَthe hypocritesقَالُوا۟they sayنَشْهَدُWe testifyإِنَّكَthat youلَرَسُولُ(are) surely (the) Messengerٱللَّهِ(of) AllahوَٱللَّهُAnd Allahيَعْلَمُknowsإِنَّكَthat youلَرَسُولُهُۥ(are) surely His Messengerوَٱللَّهُand Allahيَشْهَدُtestifiesإِنَّthatٱلْمُنَٰفِقِينَthe hypocritesلَكَٰذِبُونَ(are) surely liars1
ٱتَّخَذُوٓا۟They takeأَيْمَٰنَهُمْtheir oathsجُنَّةً(as) a coverفَصَدُّوا۟so they turn awayعَنfromسَبِيلِ(the) Wayٱللَّهِ(of) AllahإِنَّهُمْIndeed, [they]سَآءَevil isمَاwhatكَانُوا۟they used toيَعْمَلُونَdo2
ذَٰلِكَThatبِأَنَّهُمْ(is) becauseءَامَنُوا۟they believedثُمَّthenكَفَرُوا۟they disbelievedفَطُبِعَso were sealedعَلَىٰ[upon]قُلُوبِهِمْtheir heartsفَهُمْso theyلَا(do) notيَفْقَهُونَunderstand3
وَإِذَاAnd whenرَأَيْتَهُمْyou see themتُعْجِبُكَpleases youأَجْسَامُهُمْtheir bodiesوَإِنand ifيَقُولُوا۟they speakتَسْمَعْyou listenلِقَوْلِهِمْto their speechكَأَنَّهُمْas if they (were)خُشُبٌpieces of woodمُّسَنَّدَةٌpropped upيَحْسَبُونَThey thinkكُلَّeveryصَيْحَةٍshoutعَلَيْهِمْ(is) against themهُمُTheyٱلْعَدُوُّ(are) the enemyفَٱحْذَرْهُمْso beware of themقَٰتَلَهُمُMay destroy themٱللَّهُAllahأَنَّىٰHowيُؤْفَكُونَare they deluded4
وَإِذَاAnd whenقِيلَit is saidلَهُمْto themتَعَالَوْا۟Comeيَسْتَغْفِرْwill ask forgivenessلَكُمْfor youرَسُولُ(the) Messengerٱللَّهِ(of) Allahلَوَّوْا۟They turn asideرُءُوسَهُمْtheir headsوَرَأَيْتَهُمْand you see themيَصُدُّونَturning awayوَهُمwhile theyمُّسْتَكْبِرُونَ(are) arrogant5
سَوَآءٌ(It) is sameعَلَيْهِمْfor themأَسْتَغْفَرْتَwhether you ask forgivenessلَهُمْfor themأَمْorلَمْ(do) notتَسْتَغْفِرْask forgivenessلَهُمْfor themلَنNeverيَغْفِرَwill forgiveٱللَّهُAllahلَهُمْ[to] themإِنَّIndeedٱللَّهَAllahلَا(does) notيَهْدِىguideٱلْقَوْمَthe peopleٱلْفَٰسِقِينَthe defiantly disobedient6
هُمُTheyٱلَّذِينَ(are) those whoيَقُولُونَsayلَا(Do) notتُنفِقُوا۟spendعَلَىٰonمَنْ(those) whoعِندَ(are) withرَسُولِ(the) Messengerٱللَّهِ(of) Allahحَتَّىٰuntilيَنفَضُّوا۟they disbandوَلِلَّهِAnd for Allahخَزَآئِنُ(are the) treasuresٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ(of) the heavensوَٱلْأَرْضِand the earthوَلَٰكِنَّbutٱلْمُنَٰفِقِينَthe hypocritesلَا(do) notيَفْقَهُونَunderstand7
يَقُولُونَThey sayلَئِنIfرَّجَعْنَآwe returnإِلَىtoٱلْمَدِينَةِAl-Madinahلَيُخْرِجَنَّsurely, will expelٱلْأَعَزُّthe more honorableمِنْهَاfrom itٱلْأَذَلَّthe more humbleوَلِلَّهِBut for Allahٱلْعِزَّةُ(is) the honorوَلِرَسُولِهِۦand for His Messengerوَلِلْمُؤْمِنِينَand for the believersوَلَٰكِنَّbutٱلْمُنَٰفِقِينَthe hypocritesلَا(do) notيَعْلَمُونَknow8
يَٰٓأَيُّهَاOٱلَّذِينَyou (who)ءَامَنُوا۟believeلَا(Let) notتُلْهِكُمْdivert youأَمْوَٰلُكُمْyour wealthوَلَآand notأَوْلَٰدُكُمْyour childrenعَنfromذِكْرِ(the) remembranceٱللَّهِ(of) AllahوَمَنAnd whoeverيَفْعَلْdoesذَٰلِكَthatفَأُو۟لَٰٓئِكَthen thoseهُمُ[they]ٱلْخَٰسِرُونَ(are) the losers9
وَأَنفِقُوا۟And spendمِنfromمَّاwhatرَزَقْنَٰكُمWe have provided youمِّنfromقَبْلِbeforeأَن[that]يَأْتِىَcomesأَحَدَكُمُ(to) one of youٱلْمَوْتُthe deathفَيَقُولَand he saysرَبِّMy LordلَوْلَآWhy notأَخَّرْتَنِىٓYou delay meإِلَىٰٓforأَجَلٍa termقَرِيبٍnearفَأَصَّدَّقَso I would give charityوَأَكُنand beمِّنَamongٱلصَّٰلِحِينَthe righteous10
وَلَنBut neverيُؤَخِّرَwill (be) delayedٱللَّهُ(by) Allahنَفْسًاa soulإِذَاwhenجَآءَhas comeأَجَلُهَاits termوَٱللَّهُAnd Allahخَبِيرٌۢ(is) All-Awareبِمَاof whatتَعْمَلُونَyou do11

يُسَبِّحُGlorifiesلِلَّهِ[to] Allahمَاwhateverفِى(is) inٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِthe heavensوَمَاand whateverفِى(is) inٱلْأَرْضِthe earthلَهُFor Himٱلْمُلْكُ(is the) dominionوَلَهُand for Himٱلْحَمْدُ(is) the praiseوَهُوَAnd Heعَلَىٰ(is) onكُلِّeveryشَىْءٍthingقَدِيرٌAll-Powerful1
هُوَHeٱلَّذِى(is) the One Whoخَلَقَكُمْcreated youفَمِنكُمْand among youكَافِرٌ(is) a disbelieverوَمِنكُمand among youمُّؤْمِنٌ(is) a believerوَٱللَّهُAnd Allahبِمَاof whatتَعْمَلُونَyou doبَصِيرٌ(is) All-Seer2
خَلَقَHe createdٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِthe heavensوَٱلْأَرْضَand the earthبِٱلْحَقِّwith truthوَصَوَّرَكُمْand He formed youفَأَحْسَنَand made goodصُوَرَكُمْyour formsوَإِلَيْهِand to Himٱلْمَصِيرُ(is) the final return3
يَعْلَمُHe knowsمَاwhatفِى(is) inٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِthe heavensوَٱلْأَرْضِand the earthوَيَعْلَمُand He knowsمَاwhatتُسِرُّونَyou concealوَمَاand whatتُعْلِنُونَyou declareوَٱللَّهُAnd Allahعَلِيمٌۢ(is) All-Knowingبِذَاتِof whatٱلصُّدُورِ(is in) the breasts4
أَلَمْHas notيَأْتِكُمْcome to youنَبَؤُا۟(the) newsٱلَّذِينَ(of) those whoكَفَرُوا۟disbelievedمِنfromقَبْلُbeforeفَذَاقُوا۟So they tastedوَبَالَ(the bad) consequenceأَمْرِهِمْ(of) their affairوَلَهُمْand for themعَذَابٌ(is) a punishmentأَلِيمٌpainful5
ذَٰلِكَThatبِأَنَّهُۥ(is) becauseكَانَتhadتَّأْتِيهِمْcome to themرُسُلُهُمtheir Messengersبِٱلْبَيِّنَٰتِwith clear proofsفَقَالُوٓا۟but they saidأَبَشَرٌShall human beingsيَهْدُونَنَاguide usفَكَفَرُوا۟So they disbelievedوَتَوَلَّوا۟and turned awayوَّٱسْتَغْنَىAnd can do without themٱللَّهُAllahوَٱللَّهُAnd Allahغَنِىٌّ(is) Self-sufficientحَمِيدٌPraiseworthy6
زَعَمَClaimٱلَّذِينَthose whoكَفَرُوٓا۟disbelieveأَنthatلَّنneverيُبْعَثُوا۟will they be raisedقُلْSayبَلَىٰYesوَرَبِّىby my Lordلَتُبْعَثُنَّsurely you will be raisedثُمَّthenلَتُنَبَّؤُنَّsurely you will be informedبِمَاof whatعَمِلْتُمْyou didوَذَٰلِكَAnd thatعَلَىforٱللَّهِAllahيَسِيرٌ(is) easy7
فَـَٔامِنُوا۟So believeبِٱللَّهِin Allahوَرَسُولِهِۦand His Messengerوَٱلنُّورِand the LightٱلَّذِىٓwhichأَنزَلْنَاWe have sent downوَٱللَّهُAnd Allahبِمَاof whatتَعْمَلُونَyou doخَبِيرٌ(is) All-Aware8
يَوْمَ(The) DayيَجْمَعُكُمْHe will assemble youلِيَوْمِfor (the) Dayٱلْجَمْعِ(of) the Assemblyذَٰلِكَthatيَوْمُ(will be the) Dayٱلتَّغَابُنِ(of) mutual loss and gainوَمَنAnd whoeverيُؤْمِنۢbelievesبِٱللَّهِin Allahوَيَعْمَلْand doesصَٰلِحًاrighteous deedsيُكَفِّرْHe will removeعَنْهُfrom himسَيِّـَٔاتِهِۦhis evil deedsوَيُدْخِلْهُand He will admit himجَنَّٰتٍ(to) Gardensتَجْرِىflowمِنfromتَحْتِهَاunderneath itٱلْأَنْهَٰرُthe riversخَٰلِدِينَabidingفِيهَآthereinأَبَدًاforeverذَٰلِكَThatٱلْفَوْزُ(is) the successٱلْعَظِيمُthe great9
وَٱلَّذِينَBut those whoكَفَرُوا۟disbelievedوَكَذَّبُوا۟and deniedبِـَٔايَٰتِنَآ[in] Our Versesأُو۟لَٰٓئِكَthoseأَصْحَٰبُ(are the) companionsٱلنَّارِ(of) the Fireخَٰلِدِينَabiding foreverفِيهَاthereinوَبِئْسَAnd wretched isٱلْمَصِيرُthe destination10
مَآNotأَصَابَstrikesمِنanyمُّصِيبَةٍdisasterإِلَّاexceptبِإِذْنِby (the) permissionٱللَّهِ(of) AllahوَمَنAnd whoeverيُؤْمِنۢbelievesبِٱللَّهِin AllahيَهْدِHe guidesقَلْبَهُۥhis heartوَٱللَّهُAnd Allahبِكُلِّof everyشَىْءٍthingعَلِيمٌ(is) All-Knowing11
وَأَطِيعُوا۟So obeyٱللَّهَAllahوَأَطِيعُوا۟and obeyٱلرَّسُولَthe Messengerفَإِنbut ifتَوَلَّيْتُمْyou turn awayفَإِنَّمَاthen onlyعَلَىٰuponرَسُولِنَاOur Messengerٱلْبَلَٰغُ(is) the conveyanceٱلْمُبِينُclear12
ٱللَّهُAllahلَآ(there is) noإِلَٰهَgodإِلَّاexceptهُوَHimوَعَلَىAnd uponٱللَّهِAllahفَلْيَتَوَكَّلِlet put (their) trustٱلْمُؤْمِنُونَthe believers13
يَٰٓأَيُّهَاOٱلَّذِينَ(you) whoءَامَنُوٓا۟believeإِنَّIndeedمِنْfromأَزْوَٰجِكُمْyour spousesوَأَوْلَٰدِكُمْand your childrenعَدُوًّا(are) enemiesلَّكُمْto youفَٱحْذَرُوهُمْso beware of themوَإِنBut ifتَعْفُوا۟you pardonوَتَصْفَحُوا۟and overlookوَتَغْفِرُوا۟and forgiveفَإِنَّthen indeedٱللَّهَAllahغَفُورٌ(is) Oft-ForgivingرَّحِيمٌMost Merciful14
إِنَّمَآOnlyأَمْوَٰلُكُمْyour wealthوَأَوْلَٰدُكُمْand your childrenفِتْنَةٌ(are) a trialوَٱللَّهُand Allah عِندَهُۥٓwith Himأَجْرٌ(is) a rewardعَظِيمٌgreat15
فَٱتَّقُوا۟So fearٱللَّهَAllahمَاwhatٱسْتَطَعْتُمْyou are ableوَٱسْمَعُوا۟and listenوَأَطِيعُوا۟and obeyوَأَنفِقُوا۟and spendخَيْرًا(it is) betterلِّأَنفُسِكُمْfor yourselvesوَمَنAnd whoeverيُوقَis savedشُحَّ(from the) greedinessنَفْسِهِۦ(of) his soulفَأُو۟لَٰٓئِكَthen thoseهُمُ[they]ٱلْمُفْلِحُونَ(are) the successful ones16
إِنIfتُقْرِضُوا۟you loanٱللَّهَ(to) Allahقَرْضًاa loanحَسَنًاgoodlyيُضَٰعِفْهُHe will multiply itلَكُمْfor youوَيَغْفِرْand will forgiveلَكُمْyouوَٱللَّهُAnd Allahشَكُورٌ(is) Most AppreciativeحَلِيمٌMost Forbearing17
عَٰلِمُ(The) Knowerٱلْغَيْبِ(of) the unseenوَٱلشَّهَٰدَةِand the witnessedٱلْعَزِيزُthe All-Mightyٱلْحَكِيمُthe All-Wise18

يَٰٓأَيُّهَاOٱلنَّبِىُّProphetإِذَاWhenطَلَّقْتُمُyou divorceٱلنِّسَآءَ[the] womenفَطَلِّقُوهُنَّthen divorce themلِعِدَّتِهِنَّfor their waiting periodوَأَحْصُوا۟and keep countٱلْعِدَّةَ(of) the waiting periodوَٱتَّقُوا۟and fearٱللَّهَAllahرَبَّكُمْyour Lordلَا(Do) notتُخْرِجُوهُنَّexpel themمِنۢfromبُيُوتِهِنَّtheir housesوَلَاand notيَخْرُجْنَthey should leaveإِلَّآexceptأَنthatيَأْتِينَthey commitبِفَٰحِشَةٍan immoralityمُّبَيِّنَةٍclearوَتِلْكَAnd theseحُدُودُ(are the) limitsٱللَّهِ(of) AllahوَمَنAnd whoeverيَتَعَدَّtransgressesحُدُودَ(the) limitsٱللَّهِ(of) Allahفَقَدْthen certainlyظَلَمَhe has wrongedنَفْسَهُۥhimselfلَاNotتَدْرِىyou knowلَعَلَّPerhapsٱللَّهَAllahيُحْدِثُwill bring aboutبَعْدَafterذَٰلِكَthatأَمْرًاa matter1
فَإِذَاThen whenبَلَغْنَthey have reachedأَجَلَهُنَّtheir termفَأَمْسِكُوهُنَّthen retain themبِمَعْرُوفٍwith kindnessأَوْorفَارِقُوهُنَّpart with themبِمَعْرُوفٍwith kindnessوَأَشْهِدُوا۟And take witnessذَوَىْtwo menعَدْلٍjustمِّنكُمْamong youوَأَقِيمُوا۟and establishٱلشَّهَٰدَةَthe testimonyلِلَّهِfor AllahذَٰلِكُمْThatيُوعَظُis instructedبِهِۦwith itمَنwhoeverكَانَ[is]يُؤْمِنُbelievesبِٱللَّهِin Allahوَٱلْيَوْمِand the Dayٱلْءَاخِرِthe LastوَمَنAnd whoeverيَتَّقِfearsٱللَّهَAllahيَجْعَلHe will makeلَّهُۥfor himمَخْرَجًاa way out2
وَيَرْزُقْهُAnd He will provide for himمِنْfromحَيْثُwhereلَاnotيَحْتَسِبُhe thinksوَمَنAnd whoeverيَتَوَكَّلْputs his trustعَلَىuponٱللَّهِAllahفَهُوَthen Heحَسْبُهُۥٓ(is) sufficient for himإِنَّIndeedٱللَّهَAllahبَٰلِغُ(will) accomplishأَمْرِهِۦHis purposeقَدْIndeedجَعَلَhas setٱللَّهُAllahلِكُلِّfor everyشَىْءٍthingقَدْرًاa measure3
وَٱلَّٰٓـِٔىAnd those whoيَئِسْنَhave despairedمِنَofٱلْمَحِيضِthe menstruationمِنamongنِّسَآئِكُمْyour womenإِنِifٱرْتَبْتُمْyou doubtفَعِدَّتُهُنَّthen their waiting periodثَلَٰثَةُ(is) threeأَشْهُرٍmonthsوَٱلَّٰٓـِٔىand the ones whoلَمْnotيَحِضْنَ[they] menstruatedوَأُو۟لَٰتُAnd those who (are)ٱلْأَحْمَالِpregnantأَجَلُهُنَّtheir termأَنuntilيَضَعْنَthey deliverحَمْلَهُنَّtheir burdensوَمَنAnd whoeverيَتَّقِfearsٱللَّهَAllahيَجْعَلHe will makeلَّهُۥfor himمِنْofأَمْرِهِۦhis affairيُسْرًاease4
ذَٰلِكَThatأَمْرُ(is the) Commandٱللَّهِ(of) Allahأَنزَلَهُۥٓwhich He has sent downإِلَيْكُمْto youوَمَنand whoeverيَتَّقِfearsٱللَّهَAllahيُكَفِّرْHe will removeعَنْهُfrom himسَيِّـَٔاتِهِۦhis evil deedsوَيُعْظِمْand make greatلَهُۥٓfor himأَجْرًا(his) reward5
أَسْكِنُوهُنَّLodge themمِنْfromحَيْثُwhereسَكَنتُمyou dwellمِّن(out) ofوُجْدِكُمْyour meansوَلَاand (do) notتُضَآرُّوهُنَّharm themلِتُضَيِّقُوا۟to distressعَلَيْهِنَّ[on] themوَإِنAnd ifكُنَّthey areأُو۟لَٰتِthose (who are)حَمْلٍpregnantفَأَنفِقُوا۟then spendعَلَيْهِنَّon themحَتَّىٰuntilيَضَعْنَthey deliverحَمْلَهُنَّtheir burdenفَإِنْThen ifأَرْضَعْنَthey suckleلَكُمْfor youفَـَٔاتُوهُنَّthen give themأُجُورَهُنَّtheir paymentوَأْتَمِرُوا۟and consultبَيْنَكُمamong yourselvesبِمَعْرُوفٍwith kindnessوَإِنbut ifتَعَاسَرْتُمْyou disagreeفَسَتُرْضِعُthen may suckleلَهُۥٓfor himأُخْرَىٰanother (women)6
لِيُنفِقْLet spendذُوownerسَعَةٍ(of) ample meansمِّنfromسَعَتِهِۦhis ample meansوَمَنand (he) whoقُدِرَis restrictedعَلَيْهِon himرِزْقُهُۥhis provisionفَلْيُنفِقْlet him spendمِمَّآfrom whatءَاتَىٰهُhe has been givenٱللَّهُ(by) AllahلَاDoes notيُكَلِّفُburdenٱللَّهُAllahنَفْسًاany soulإِلَّاexceptمَآ(with) whatءَاتَىٰهَاHe has given itسَيَجْعَلُWill bring aboutٱللَّهُAllahبَعْدَafterعُسْرٍhardshipيُسْرًاease7
وَكَأَيِّنAnd how manyمِّنofقَرْيَةٍa townعَتَتْrebelledعَنْagainstأَمْرِ(the) Commandرَبِّهَا(of) its Lordوَرُسُلِهِۦand His Messengersفَحَاسَبْنَٰهَاso We took it to accountحِسَابًاan accountشَدِيدًاsevereوَعَذَّبْنَٰهَاand We punished itعَذَابًاa punishmentنُّكْرًاterrible8
فَذَاقَتْSo it tastedوَبَالَ(the bad) consequenceأَمْرِهَا(of) its affairوَكَانَand wasعَٰقِبَةُ(the) endأَمْرِهَا(of) its affairخُسْرًاloss9
أَعَدَّHas preparedٱللَّهُAllahلَهُمْfor themعَذَابًاa punishmentشَدِيدًاsevereفَٱتَّقُوا۟So fearٱللَّهَAllahيَٰٓأُو۟لِىO menٱلْأَلْبَٰبِ(of) understandingٱلَّذِينَthose whoءَامَنُوا۟have believedقَدْIndeedأَنزَلَHas sent downٱللَّهُAllahإِلَيْكُمْto youذِكْرًاa Message10
رَّسُولًاA Messengerيَتْلُوا۟recitingعَلَيْكُمْto youءَايَٰتِ(the) Versesٱللَّهِ(of) Allahمُبَيِّنَٰتٍclearلِّيُخْرِجَthat he may bring outٱلَّذِينَthose whoءَامَنُوا۟believeوَعَمِلُوا۟and doٱلصَّٰلِحَٰتِrighteous deedsمِنَfromٱلظُّلُمَٰتِthe darkness[es]إِلَىtowardsٱلنُّورِthe lightوَمَنAnd whoeverيُؤْمِنۢbelievesبِٱللَّهِin Allahوَيَعْمَلْand doesصَٰلِحًاrighteous deedsيُدْخِلْهُHe will admit himجَنَّٰتٍ(into) Gardensتَجْرِىflowمِنfromتَحْتِهَاunderneath itٱلْأَنْهَٰرُthe riversخَٰلِدِينَabidingفِيهَآthereinأَبَدًاforeverقَدْIndeedأَحْسَنَHas been (granted) goodٱللَّهُ(by) Allahلَهُۥfor himرِزْقًاprovision11
ٱللَّهُAllahٱلَّذِى(is) He Whoخَلَقَcreatedسَبْعَsevenسَمَٰوَٰتٍheavensوَمِنَand ofٱلْأَرْضِthe earthمِثْلَهُنَّ(the) like of themيَتَنَزَّلُDescendsٱلْأَمْرُthe commandبَيْنَهُنَّbetween themلِتَعْلَمُوٓا۟that you may knowأَنَّthatٱللَّهَAllahعَلَىٰ(is) onكُلِّeveryشَىْءٍthingقَدِيرٌAll-PowerfulوَأَنَّAnd thatٱللَّهَAllahقَدْindeedأَحَاطَencompassesبِكُلِّallشَىْءٍthingsعِلْمًۢا(in) knowledge12

يَٰٓأَيُّهَاOٱلنَّبِىُّProphetلِمَWhy (do)تُحَرِّمُyou prohibitمَآwhatأَحَلَّhas made lawfulٱللَّهُAllahلَكَfor youتَبْتَغِىseekingمَرْضَاتَ(to) pleaseأَزْوَٰجِكَyour wivesوَٱللَّهُAnd Allahغَفُورٌ(is) Oft-ForgivingرَّحِيمٌMost Merciful1
قَدْIndeedفَرَضَhas ordainedٱللَّهُAllahلَكُمْfor youتَحِلَّةَ(the) dissolutionأَيْمَٰنِكُمْ(of) your oathsوَٱللَّهُAnd Allahمَوْلَىٰكُمْ(is) your Protectorوَهُوَand Heٱلْعَلِيمُ(is) the All-Knowerٱلْحَكِيمُthe All-Wise2
وَإِذْAnd whenأَسَرَّconfidedٱلنَّبِىُّthe Prophetإِلَىٰtoبَعْضِoneأَزْوَٰجِهِۦ(of) his wivesحَدِيثًاa statementفَلَمَّاand whenنَبَّأَتْshe informedبِهِۦabout itوَأَظْهَرَهُand made it apparentٱللَّهُAllahعَلَيْهِto himعَرَّفَhe made knownبَعْضَهُۥa part of itوَأَعْرَضَand avoidedعَنۢ[of]بَعْضٍa partفَلَمَّاThen whenنَبَّأَهَاhe informed herبِهِۦabout itقَالَتْshe saidمَنْWhoأَنۢبَأَكَinformed youهَٰذَاthisقَالَHe saidنَبَّأَنِىَHas informed meٱلْعَلِيمُthe All-Knowerٱلْخَبِيرُthe All-Aware3
إِنIfتَتُوبَآyou both turnإِلَىtoٱللَّهِAllahفَقَدْso indeedصَغَتْ(are) inclinedقُلُوبُكُمَاyour heartsوَإِنbut ifتَظَٰهَرَاyou backup each otherعَلَيْهِagainst himفَإِنَّthen indeedٱللَّهَAllahهُوَHeمَوْلَىٰهُ(is) his Protectorوَجِبْرِيلُand Jibreelوَصَٰلِحُand (the) righteousٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَbelieversوَٱلْمَلَٰٓئِكَةُand the Angelsبَعْدَafterذَٰلِكَthatظَهِيرٌ(are his) assistants4
عَسَىٰPerhapsرَبُّهُۥٓhis Lordإِنifطَلَّقَكُنَّhe divorced youأَن[that]يُبْدِلَهُۥٓHe will substitute for himأَزْوَٰجًاwivesخَيْرًاbetterمِّنكُنَّthan youمُسْلِمَٰتٍsubmissiveمُّؤْمِنَٰتٍfaithfulقَٰنِتَٰتٍobedientتَٰٓئِبَٰتٍrepentantعَٰبِدَٰتٍwho worshipسَٰٓئِحَٰتٍwho fastثَيِّبَٰتٍpreviously marriedوَأَبْكَارًاand virgins5
يَٰٓأَيُّهَاOٱلَّذِينَ(you) whoءَامَنُوا۟believeقُوٓا۟Protectأَنفُسَكُمْyourselvesوَأَهْلِيكُمْand your familiesنَارًا(from) a Fireوَقُودُهَاwhose fuelٱلنَّاسُ(is) peopleوَٱلْحِجَارَةُand stonesعَلَيْهَاover itمَلَٰٓئِكَةٌ(are) Angelsغِلَاظٌsternشِدَادٌsevereلَّاnotيَعْصُونَthey disobeyٱللَّهَAllahمَآ(in) whatأَمَرَهُمْHe Commands themوَيَفْعَلُونَbut they doمَاwhatيُؤْمَرُونَthey are commanded6
يَٰٓأَيُّهَاOٱلَّذِينَ(you) whoكَفَرُوا۟disbelieveلَا(Do) notتَعْتَذِرُوا۟make excusesٱلْيَوْمَtodayإِنَّمَاOnlyتُجْزَوْنَyou will be recompensedمَا(for) whatكُنتُمْyou used toتَعْمَلُونَdo7
يَٰٓأَيُّهَاOٱلَّذِينَ(you) who believeءَامَنُوا۟believeتُوبُوٓا۟TurnإِلَىtoٱللَّهِAllahتَوْبَةً(in) repentanceنَّصُوحًاsincereعَسَىٰPerhapsرَبُّكُمْyour Lordأَنwillيُكَفِّرَremoveعَنكُمْfrom youسَيِّـَٔاتِكُمْyour evil deedsوَيُدْخِلَكُمْand admit youجَنَّٰتٍ(into) Gardensتَجْرِىflowمِنfromتَحْتِهَاunderneath itٱلْأَنْهَٰرُthe riversيَوْمَ(on the) Dayلَاnotيُخْزِىwill be disgracedٱللَّهُ(by) Allahٱلنَّبِىَّthe Prophetوَٱلَّذِينَand those whoءَامَنُوا۟believedمَعَهُۥwith himنُورُهُمْTheir lightيَسْعَىٰwill runبَيْنَbeforeأَيْدِيهِمْtheir handsوَبِأَيْمَٰنِهِمْand on their rightيَقُولُونَthey will sayرَبَّنَآOur LordأَتْمِمْPerfectلَنَاfor usنُورَنَاour lightوَٱغْفِرْand grant forgivenessلَنَآto usإِنَّكَIndeed, Youعَلَىٰ(are) overكُلِّeveryشَىْءٍthingقَدِيرٌAll-Powerful8
يَٰٓأَيُّهَاOٱلنَّبِىُّProphetجَٰهِدِStriveٱلْكُفَّارَ(against) the disbelieversوَٱلْمُنَٰفِقِينَand the hypocritesوَٱغْلُظْand be sternعَلَيْهِمْwith themوَمَأْوَىٰهُمْAnd their abodeجَهَنَّمُ(is) Hellوَبِئْسَand wretched isٱلْمَصِيرُthe destination9
ضَرَبَPresentsٱللَّهُAllahمَثَلًاan exampleلِّلَّذِينَfor those whoكَفَرُوا۟disbelieved ٱمْرَأَتَ(the) wifeنُوحٍ(of) Nuhوَٱمْرَأَتَ(and the) wifeلُوطٍ(of) LutكَانَتَاThey wereتَحْتَunderعَبْدَيْنِtwo [slaves]مِنْofعِبَادِنَاOur slavesصَٰلِحَيْنِrighteousفَخَانَتَاهُمَاbut they both betrayed themفَلَمْso notيُغْنِيَاthey availedعَنْهُمَاboth of themمِنَfromٱللَّهِAllahشَيْـًٔا(in) anythingوَقِيلَand it was saidٱدْخُلَاEnterٱلنَّارَthe Fireمَعَwithٱلدَّٰخِلِينَthose who enter10
وَضَرَبَAnd presentsٱللَّهُAllahمَثَلًاan exampleلِّلَّذِينَfor those whoءَامَنُوا۟believed ٱمْرَأَتَ(the) wifeفِرْعَوْنَ(of) Firaunإِذْwhenقَالَتْshe saidرَبِّMy LordٱبْنِBuildلِىfor meعِندَكَnear Youبَيْتًاa houseفِىinٱلْجَنَّةِParadiseوَنَجِّنِىand save meمِنfromفِرْعَوْنَFiraunوَعَمَلِهِۦand his deedsوَنَجِّنِىand save meمِنَfromٱلْقَوْمِthe peopleٱلظَّٰلِمِينَthe wrongdoers11
وَمَرْيَمَAnd Maryamٱبْنَتَ(the) daughterعِمْرَٰنَ(of) Imranٱلَّتِىٓwhoأَحْصَنَتْguardedفَرْجَهَاher chastityفَنَفَخْنَاso We breathedفِيهِinto itمِنofرُّوحِنَاOur SpiritوَصَدَّقَتْAnd she believedبِكَلِمَٰتِ(in the) Wordsرَبِّهَا(of) her Lordوَكُتُبِهِۦand His Booksوَكَانَتْand she wasمِنَofٱلْقَٰنِتِينَthe devoutly obedient12
