لَّا(Does) notيُحِبُّloveٱللَّهُAllahٱلْجَهْرَthe public mentionبِٱلسُّوٓءِof [the] evilمِنَ[of]ٱلْقَوْلِ[the] wordsإِلَّاexceptمَن(by the one) whoظُلِمَhas been wrongedوَكَانَAnd isٱللَّهُAllahسَمِيعًاAll-HearingعَلِيمًاAll-Knowing148
إِنIfتُبْدُوا۟you discloseخَيْرًاa goodأَوْorتُخْفُوهُyou conceal itأَوْorتَعْفُوا۟pardonعَن[of]سُوٓءٍan evilفَإِنَّthen indeedٱللَّهَAllahكَانَisعَفُوًّاOft-PardoningقَدِيرًاAll-Powerful149
إِنَّIndeedٱلَّذِينَthose whoيَكْفُرُونَdisbelieveبِٱللَّهِin Allahوَرُسُلِهِۦand His Messengersوَيُرِيدُونَand they wishأَنthatيُفَرِّقُوا۟they differentiateبَيْنَbetweenٱللَّهِAllahوَرُسُلِهِۦand His Messengersوَيَقُولُونَand they sayنُؤْمِنُWe believeبِبَعْضٍin someوَنَكْفُرُand we disbelieveبِبَعْضٍin othersوَيُرِيدُونَAnd they wishأَنthatيَتَّخِذُوا۟they takeبَيْنَbetweenذَٰلِكَthatسَبِيلًاa way150
أُو۟لَٰٓئِكَThose هُمُtheyٱلْكَٰفِرُونَ(are) the disbelieversحَقًّاtrulyوَأَعْتَدْنَاAnd We have preparedلِلْكَٰفِرِينَfor the disbelieversعَذَابًاa punishmentمُّهِينًاhumiliating151
وَٱلَّذِينَAnd those whoءَامَنُوا۟believeبِٱللَّهِin Allahوَرُسُلِهِۦand His Messengersوَلَمْand notيُفَرِّقُوا۟they differentiateبَيْنَbetweenأَحَدٍ(any) oneمِّنْهُمْof themأُو۟لَٰٓئِكَthose سَوْفَsoonيُؤْتِيهِمْHe will give themأُجُورَهُمْtheir rewardوَكَانَAnd isٱللَّهُAllahغَفُورًاOft-ForgivingرَّحِيمًاMost Merciful152
يَسْـَٔلُكَAsk youأَهْلُ(the) Peopleٱلْكِتَٰبِ(of) the Bookأَنthatتُنَزِّلَyou bring downعَلَيْهِمْto themكِتَٰبًاa bookمِّنَfromٱلسَّمَآءِthe heavenفَقَدْThen indeedسَأَلُوا۟they (had) askedمُوسَىٰٓMusaأَكْبَرَgreaterمِنthanذَٰلِكَthatفَقَالُوٓا۟for they saidأَرِنَاShow usٱللَّهَAllahجَهْرَةًmanifestlyفَأَخَذَتْهُمُso struck themٱلصَّٰعِقَةُthe thunderboltبِظُلْمِهِمْfor their wrongdoingثُمَّThenٱتَّخَذُوا۟they tookٱلْعِجْلَthe calf (for worship)مِنۢfromبَعْدِafterمَا[what]جَآءَتْهُمُcame to themٱلْبَيِّنَٰتُthe clear proofsفَعَفَوْنَاthen We forgave themعَنforذَٰلِكَthatوَءَاتَيْنَاAnd We gaveمُوسَىٰMusaسُلْطَٰنًاan authorityمُّبِينًاclear153
وَرَفَعْنَاAnd We raisedفَوْقَهُمُover themٱلطُّورَthe mountبِمِيثَٰقِهِمْfor their covenantوَقُلْنَاand We saidلَهُمُto themٱدْخُلُوا۟Enterٱلْبَابَthe gateسُجَّدًاprostratingوَقُلْنَاAnd We saidلَهُمْto themلَا(Do) notتَعْدُوا۟transgressفِىinٱلسَّبْتِthe SabbathوَأَخَذْنَاAnd We tookمِنْهُمfrom themمِّيثَٰقًاa covenantغَلِيظًاsolemn154
فَبِمَاThen because ofنَقْضِهِمtheir breakingمِّيثَٰقَهُمْ(of) their covenantوَكُفْرِهِمand their disbeliefبِـَٔايَٰتِin (the) Signsٱللَّهِ(of) Allahوَقَتْلِهِمُand their killingٱلْأَنۢبِيَآءَ(of) the Prophetsبِغَيْرِwithoutحَقٍّany rightوَقَوْلِهِمْand their sayingقُلُوبُنَاOur heartsغُلْفٌۢ(are) wrappedبَلْNayطَبَعَ(has) set a sealٱللَّهُAllahعَلَيْهَاon their (hearts)بِكُفْرِهِمْfor their disbeliefفَلَاso notيُؤْمِنُونَthey believeإِلَّاexceptقَلِيلًاa few155
وَبِكُفْرِهِمْAnd for their disbeliefوَقَوْلِهِمْand their sayingعَلَىٰagainstمَرْيَمَMaryamبُهْتَٰنًاa slanderعَظِيمًاgreat156
وَقَوْلِهِمْAnd for their sayingإِنَّاIndeed, weقَتَلْنَاkilledٱلْمَسِيحَthe MessiahعِيسَىIsaٱبْنَsonمَرْيَمَ(of) Maryamرَسُولَ(the) Messengerٱللَّهِ(of) AllahوَمَاAnd notقَتَلُوهُthey killed himوَمَاand notصَلَبُوهُthey crucified himوَلَٰكِنbutشُبِّهَit was made to appear (so)لَهُمْto themوَإِنَّAnd indeedٱلَّذِينَthose whoٱخْتَلَفُوا۟differفِيهِin itلَفِى(are) surely inشَكٍّdoubtمِّنْهُabout itمَاNotلَهُمfor themبِهِۦabout itمِنْ[of]عِلْمٍ(any) knowledgeإِلَّاexceptٱتِّبَاعَ(the) followingٱلظَّنِّ(of) assumptionوَمَاAnd notقَتَلُوهُthey killed himيَقِينًۢاcertainly157
بَلNayرَّفَعَهُhe was raisedٱللَّهُ(by) Allahإِلَيْهِtowards HimوَكَانَAnd isٱللَّهُAllahعَزِيزًاAll-MightyحَكِيمًاAll-Wise158
وَإِنAnd (there is) notمِّنْfromأَهْلِ(the) Peopleٱلْكِتَٰبِ(of) the Bookإِلَّاbutلَيُؤْمِنَنَّsurely he believesبِهِۦin himقَبْلَbeforeمَوْتِهِۦhis deathوَيَوْمَAnd (on the) Dayٱلْقِيَٰمَةِ(of) the Resurrectionيَكُونُhe will beعَلَيْهِمْagainst themشَهِيدًاa witness159
فَبِظُلْمٍThen for (the) wrongdoingمِّنَofٱلَّذِينَthose whoهَادُوا۟were JewsحَرَّمْنَاWe made unlawfulعَلَيْهِمْfor themطَيِّبَٰتٍgood thingsأُحِلَّتْwhich had been lawfulلَهُمْfor themوَبِصَدِّهِمْand for their hinderingعَنfromسَبِيلِ(the) wayٱللَّهِ(of) Allah كَثِيرًاmany160
وَأَخْذِهِمُAnd for their takingٱلرِّبَوٰا۟(of) [the] usuryوَقَدْwhile certainlyنُهُوا۟they were forbiddenعَنْهُfrom itوَأَكْلِهِمْand (for) their consumingأَمْوَٰلَwealthٱلنَّاسِ(of) the peopleبِٱلْبَٰطِلِwrongfullyوَأَعْتَدْنَاAnd We have preparedلِلْكَٰفِرِينَfor the disbelieversمِنْهُمْamong themعَذَابًاa punishmentأَلِيمًاpainful161
لَّٰكِنِButٱلرَّٰسِخُونَthe ones who are firmفِىinٱلْعِلْمِthe knowledgeمِنْهُمْamong themوَٱلْمُؤْمِنُونَand the believersيُؤْمِنُونَbelieveبِمَآin whatأُنزِلَ(is) revealedإِلَيْكَto youوَمَآand whatأُنزِلَwas revealedمِنfromقَبْلِكَbefore youوَٱلْمُقِيمِينَAnd the ones who establishٱلصَّلَوٰةَthe prayerوَٱلْمُؤْتُونَand the ones who giveٱلزَّكَوٰةَthe zakahوَٱلْمُؤْمِنُونَand the ones who believeبِٱللَّهِin Allahوَٱلْيَوْمِand the Dayٱلْءَاخِرِthe Last أُو۟لَٰٓئِكَthoseسَنُؤْتِيهِمْWe will give themأَجْرًاa rewardعَظِيمًاgreat162
إِنَّآIndeed, Weأَوْحَيْنَآhave revealedإِلَيْكَto youكَمَآasأَوْحَيْنَآWe revealedإِلَىٰtoنُوحٍNuhوَٱلنَّبِيِّۦنَand the Prophetsمِنۢfromبَعْدِهِۦafter himوَأَوْحَيْنَآand We revealedإِلَىٰٓtoإِبْرَٰهِيمَIbrahimوَإِسْمَٰعِيلَand Ishmaelوَإِسْحَٰقَand Isaacوَيَعْقُوبَand Yaqubوَٱلْأَسْبَاطِand the tribesوَعِيسَىٰand Isaوَأَيُّوبَand Ayyubوَيُونُسَand Yunusوَهَٰرُونَand Harunوَسُلَيْمَٰنَand Sulaimanوَءَاتَيْنَاand We gaveدَاوُۥدَ(to) Dawoodزَبُورًاthe Zaboor163
وَرُسُلًاAnd MessengersقَدْsurelyقَصَصْنَٰهُمْWe (have) mentioned themعَلَيْكَto youمِنfromقَبْلُbeforeوَرُسُلًاand MessengersلَّمْnotنَقْصُصْهُمْWe (have) mentioned themعَلَيْكَto youوَكَلَّمَAnd spokeٱللَّهُAllahمُوسَىٰ(to) Musaتَكْلِيمًا(in a) conversation164
رُّسُلًاMessengersمُّبَشِّرِينَbearers of glad tidingsوَمُنذِرِينَand warnersلِئَلَّاso that notيَكُونَthere isلِلنَّاسِfor mankindعَلَىagainstٱللَّهِAllahحُجَّةٌۢany argumentبَعْدَafterٱلرُّسُلِthe MessengersوَكَانَAnd isٱللَّهُAllahعَزِيزًاAll-MightyحَكِيمًاAll-Wise165
لَّٰكِنِButٱللَّهُAllahيَشْهَدُbears witnessبِمَآto whatأَنزَلَHe (has) revealedإِلَيْكَto youأَنزَلَهُۥHe has sent it downبِعِلْمِهِۦwith His Knowledgeوَٱلْمَلَٰٓئِكَةُand the Angelsيَشْهَدُونَbear witnessوَكَفَىٰAnd is sufficientبِٱللَّهِAllahشَهِيدًا(as) a Witness166
إِنَّIndeedٱلَّذِينَthose whoكَفَرُوا۟disbelieveوَصَدُّوا۟and hinderعَنfromسَبِيلِ(the) wayٱللَّهِ(of) Allahقَدْsurelyضَلُّوا۟they have strayedضَلَٰلًۢاstrayingبَعِيدًاfar away167
إِنَّIndeedٱلَّذِينَthose whoكَفَرُوا۟disbelievedوَظَلَمُوا۟and did wrongلَمْnotيَكُنِwillٱللَّهُAllahلِيَغْفِرَ[to] forgiveلَهُمْthemوَلَاand notلِيَهْدِيَهُمْHe will guide themطَرِيقًا(to) a way168
إِلَّاExceptطَرِيقَ(the) wayجَهَنَّمَ(to) Hellخَٰلِدِينَabidingفِيهَآin itأَبَدًاforeverوَكَانَAnd isذَٰلِكَthatعَلَىforٱللَّهِAllahيَسِيرًاeasy169
يَٰٓأَيُّهَاOٱلنَّاسُmankindقَدْSurelyجَآءَكُمُhas come to youٱلرَّسُولُthe Messengerبِٱلْحَقِّwith the truthمِنfromرَّبِّكُمْyour Lordفَـَٔامِنُوا۟so believeخَيْرًا(it is) betterلَّكُمْfor youوَإِنBut ifتَكْفُرُوا۟you disbelieveفَإِنَّthen indeedلِلَّهِto Allah (belongs)مَاwhateverفِى(is) inٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِthe heavensوَٱلْأَرْضِand the earthوَكَانَAnd isٱللَّهُAllahعَلِيمًاAll-KnowingحَكِيمًاAll-Wise170
يَٰٓأَهْلَO Peopleٱلْكِتَٰبِ(of) the Bookلَا(Do) notتَغْلُوا۟commit excessفِىinدِينِكُمْyour religionوَلَاand (do) notتَقُولُوا۟sayعَلَىaboutٱللَّهِAllahإِلَّاexceptٱلْحَقَّthe truthإِنَّمَاOnlyٱلْمَسِيحُthe MessiahعِيسَىIsaٱبْنُsonمَرْيَمَ(of) Maryamرَسُولُ(was) a Messengerٱللَّهِ(of) Allahوَكَلِمَتُهُۥٓand His wordأَلْقَىٰهَآwhich He conveyedإِلَىٰtoمَرْيَمَMaryamوَرُوحٌand a spiritمِّنْهُfrom Himفَـَٔامِنُوا۟So believeبِٱللَّهِin Allahوَرُسُلِهِۦand His MessengersوَلَاAnd (do) notتَقُولُوا۟sayثَلَٰثَةٌThreeٱنتَهُوا۟desistخَيْرًا(it is) betterلَّكُمْfor youإِنَّمَاOnlyٱللَّهُAllahإِلَٰهٌ(is) GodوَٰحِدٌOneسُبْحَٰنَهُۥٓGlory be to HimأَنThatيَكُونَHe (should) haveلَهُۥfor Himوَلَدٌa sonلَّهُۥTo Him (belongs)مَاwhateverفِى(is) inٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِthe heavensوَمَاand whateverفِى(is) inٱلْأَرْضِthe earthوَكَفَىٰAnd is sufficientبِٱللَّهِAllahوَكِيلًا(as) a Disposer of affairs171
لَّنNeverيَسْتَنكِفَwill disdainٱلْمَسِيحُthe Messiahأَنtoيَكُونَbeعَبْدًاa slaveلِّلَّهِof Allahوَلَاand notٱلْمَلَٰٓئِكَةُthe Angelsٱلْمُقَرَّبُونَthe ones who are near (to Allah)وَمَنAnd whoeverيَسْتَنكِفْdisdainsعَنْfromعِبَادَتِهِۦHis worshipوَيَسْتَكْبِرْand is arrogantفَسَيَحْشُرُهُمْthen He will gather themإِلَيْهِtowards Himجَمِيعًاall together172
فَأَمَّاThen as forٱلَّذِينَthose whoءَامَنُوا۟believedوَعَمِلُوا۟and didٱلصَّٰلِحَٰتِthe righteous deedsفَيُوَفِّيهِمْthen He will give them in fullأُجُورَهُمْtheir rewardوَيَزِيدُهُمand give them moreمِّنfromفَضْلِهِۦHis BountyوَأَمَّاAnd as forٱلَّذِينَthose whoٱسْتَنكَفُوا۟disdainedوَٱسْتَكْبَرُوا۟and were arrogantفَيُعَذِّبُهُمْthen He will punish themعَذَابًا(with) a punishmentأَلِيمًاpainfulوَلَاand notيَجِدُونَwill they findلَهُمfor themselvesمِّنfromدُونِbesidesٱللَّهِAllahوَلِيًّاany protectorوَلَاand notنَصِيرًاany helper173
يَٰٓأَيُّهَاOٱلنَّاسُmankindقَدْSurelyجَآءَكُمhas come to youبُرْهَٰنٌa convincing proofمِّنfromرَّبِّكُمْyour Lordوَأَنزَلْنَآand We (have) sent downإِلَيْكُمْto youنُورًاa lightمُّبِينًاclear174
فَأَمَّاSo as forٱلَّذِينَthose whoءَامَنُوا۟believedبِٱللَّهِin Allahوَٱعْتَصَمُوا۟and held fastبِهِۦto Himفَسَيُدْخِلُهُمْthen He will admit themفِىinرَحْمَةٍMercyمِّنْهُfrom Himselfوَفَضْلٍand Bountyوَيَهْدِيهِمْand will guide themإِلَيْهِto Himselfصِرَٰطًا(on) a wayمُّسْتَقِيمًاstraight175
يَسْتَفْتُونَكَThey seek your rulingقُلِSayٱللَّهُAllahيُفْتِيكُمْgives you a rulingفِىconcerningٱلْكَلَٰلَةِthe Kalalaإِنِifٱمْرُؤٌا۟a manهَلَكَdiedلَيْسَ(and) notلَهُۥhe hasوَلَدٌa childوَلَهُۥٓand he hasأُخْتٌa sisterفَلَهَاthen for herنِصْفُ(is) a halfمَا(of) whatتَرَكَhe leftوَهُوَAnd heيَرِثُهَآwill inherit from herإِنifلَّمْnotيَكُنisلَّهَاfor herوَلَدٌa childفَإِنBut ifكَانَتَاthere wereٱثْنَتَيْنِtwo femalesفَلَهُمَاthen for themٱلثُّلُثَانِtwo thirdsمِمَّاof whatتَرَكَhe leftوَإِنBut ifكَانُوٓا۟they wereإِخْوَةًbrothers and sistersرِّجَالًاmenوَنِسَآءًand womenفَلِلذَّكَرِthen the male will haveمِثْلُlikeحَظِّshareٱلْأُنثَيَيْنِ(of) the two femalesيُبَيِّنُmakes clearٱللَّهُAllahلَكُمْto youأَنlestتَضِلُّوا۟you go astrayوَٱللَّهُAnd Allahبِكُلِّof everyشَىْءٍthingعَلِيمٌۢ(is) All-Knower176

يَٰٓأَيُّهَاOٱلَّذِينَyou (who)ءَامَنُوا۟believeلَا(Do) notتُحِلُّوا۟violateشَعَٰٓئِرَ(the) ritesٱللَّهِ(of) Allahوَلَاand notٱلشَّهْرَthe monthٱلْحَرَامَthe sacredوَلَاand notٱلْهَدْىَthe sacrificial animalsوَلَاand notٱلْقَلَٰٓئِدَthe garlandedوَلَآand notءَآمِّينَ(those) comingٱلْبَيْتَ(to) the Houseٱلْحَرَامَthe SacredيَبْتَغُونَseekingفَضْلًاBountyمِّنofرَّبِّهِمْtheir Lordوَرِضْوَٰنًاand good pleasureوَإِذَاAnd whenحَلَلْتُمْyou come out of Ihramفَٱصْطَادُوا۟then (you may) huntوَلَاAnd let notيَجْرِمَنَّكُمْincite youشَنَـَٔانُ(the) hatredقَوْمٍ(for) a peopleأَنasصَدُّوكُمْthey stopped youعَنِfromٱلْمَسْجِدِAl-MasjidٱلْحَرَامِAl-Haraamأَنthatتَعْتَدُوا۟you commit transgressionوَتَعَاوَنُوا۟And help one anotherعَلَىinٱلْبِرِّ[the] righteousnessوَٱلتَّقْوَىٰand [the] pietyوَلَاbut (do) notتَعَاوَنُوا۟help one anotherعَلَىinٱلْإِثْمِ[the] sinوَٱلْعُدْوَٰنِand [the] transgressionوَٱتَّقُوا۟And fearٱللَّهَAllahإِنَّindeedٱللَّهَAllahشَدِيدُ(is) severeٱلْعِقَابِ(in) [the] punishment2
حُرِّمَتْAre made unlawfulعَلَيْكُمُon youٱلْمَيْتَةُthe dead animalsوَٱلدَّمُand the bloodوَلَحْمُand fleshٱلْخِنزِيرِ(of) the swineوَمَآand whatأُهِلَّhas been dedicatedلِغَيْرِto other thanٱللَّهِAllahبِهِۦ[on it]وَٱلْمُنْخَنِقَةُand that which is strangled (to death)وَٱلْمَوْقُوذَةُand that which is hit fatallyوَٱلْمُتَرَدِّيَةُand that which has a fatal fallوَٱلنَّطِيحَةُand that which is gored by hornsوَمَآand that whichأَكَلَate (it)ٱلسَّبُعُthe wild animalإِلَّاexceptمَاwhatذَكَّيْتُمْyou slaughteredوَمَاand whatذُبِحَis sacrificedعَلَىonٱلنُّصُبِthe stone altarsوَأَنand thatتَسْتَقْسِمُوا۟you seek divisionبِٱلْأَزْلَٰمِby divining arrows ذَٰلِكُمْthatفِسْقٌ(is) grave disobedienceٱلْيَوْمَThis dayيَئِسَ(have) despairedٱلَّذِينَthose whoكَفَرُوا۟disbelievedمِنofدِينِكُمْyour religionفَلَاso (do) notتَخْشَوْهُمْfear themوَٱخْشَوْنِbut fear MeٱلْيَوْمَThis dayأَكْمَلْتُI have perfectedلَكُمْfor youدِينَكُمْyour religionوَأَتْمَمْتُand I have completedعَلَيْكُمْupon youنِعْمَتِىMy Favorوَرَضِيتُand I have approvedلَكُمُfor youٱلْإِسْلَٰمَ[the] Islamدِينًا(as) a religionفَمَنِBut whoeverٱضْطُرَّ(is) forcedفِىbyمَخْمَصَةٍhungerغَيْرَ(and) notمُتَجَانِفٍincliningلِّإِثْمٍto sinفَإِنَّthen indeedٱللَّهَAllahغَفُورٌ(is) Oft-ForgivingرَّحِيمٌMost Merciful3
يَسْـَٔلُونَكَThey ask youمَاذَآwhatأُحِلَّ(is) made lawfulلَهُمْfor themقُلْSayأُحِلَّAre made lawfulلَكُمُfor youٱلطَّيِّبَٰتُthe good thingsوَمَاand whatعَلَّمْتُمyou have taughtمِّنَofٱلْجَوَارِحِ(your) hunting animalsمُكَلِّبِينَones who train animals to huntتُعَلِّمُونَهُنَّyou teach themمِمَّاof whatعَلَّمَكُمُhas taught youٱللَّهُAllahفَكُلُوا۟So eatمِمَّآof whatأَمْسَكْنَthey catchعَلَيْكُمْfor youوَٱذْكُرُوا۟but mentionٱسْمَ(the) nameٱللَّهِ(of) Allahعَلَيْهِon itوَٱتَّقُوا۟and fearٱللَّهَAllahإِنَّIndeedٱللَّهَAllahسَرِيعُis swiftٱلْحِسَابِ(in taking) account4
ٱلْيَوْمَThis dayأُحِلَّare made lawfulلَكُمُfor youٱلطَّيِّبَٰتُthe good thingsوَطَعَامُand (the) foodٱلَّذِينَ(of) those whoأُوتُوا۟were givenٱلْكِتَٰبَthe Bookحِلٌّ(is) lawfulلَّكُمْfor youوَطَعَامُكُمْand your foodحِلٌّ(is) lawfulلَّهُمْfor themوَٱلْمُحْصَنَٰتُAnd the chaste womenمِنَfromٱلْمُؤْمِنَٰتِthe believersوَٱلْمُحْصَنَٰتُand the chaste womenمِنَfromٱلَّذِينَthose whoأُوتُوا۟were givenٱلْكِتَٰبَthe Bookمِنfromقَبْلِكُمْbefore youإِذَآwhenءَاتَيْتُمُوهُنَّyou have given themأُجُورَهُنَّtheir bridal dueمُحْصِنِينَbeing chasteغَيْرَnotمُسَٰفِحِينَbeing lewdوَلَاand notمُتَّخِذِىٓones (who are) takingأَخْدَانٍsecret loversوَمَنAnd whoeverيَكْفُرْdeniesبِٱلْإِيمَٰنِthe faith فَقَدْthen surelyحَبِطَ(are) wastedعَمَلُهُۥhis deedsوَهُوَand heفِىinٱلْءَاخِرَةِthe Hereafterمِنَ(will be) amongٱلْخَٰسِرِينَthe losers5
يَٰٓأَيُّهَاO youٱلَّذِينَwhoءَامَنُوٓا۟believeإِذَاWhenقُمْتُمْyou stand upإِلَىforٱلصَّلَوٰةِthe prayerفَٱغْسِلُوا۟then washوُجُوهَكُمْyour facesوَأَيْدِيَكُمْand your handsإِلَىtillٱلْمَرَافِقِthe elbowsوَٱمْسَحُوا۟and wipeبِرُءُوسِكُمْyour headsوَأَرْجُلَكُمْand your feetإِلَىtillٱلْكَعْبَيْنِthe anklesوَإِنBut ifكُنتُمْyou areجُنُبًا(in) a state of ceremonial impurityفَٱطَّهَّرُوا۟then purify yourselvesوَإِنBut ifكُنتُمyou areمَّرْضَىٰٓillأَوْorعَلَىٰonسَفَرٍa journeyأَوْorجَآءَhas comeأَحَدٌanyoneمِّنكُمof youمِّنَfromٱلْغَآئِطِthe toiletأَوْorلَٰمَسْتُمُhas (had) contactٱلنِّسَآءَ(with) the womenفَلَمْand notتَجِدُوا۟you findمَآءًwaterفَتَيَمَّمُوا۟then do tayyammumصَعِيدًا(with) earthطَيِّبًاcleanفَٱمْسَحُوا۟then wipeبِوُجُوهِكُمْyour facesوَأَيْدِيكُمand your handsمِّنْهُwith itمَاDoes notيُرِيدُintendٱللَّهُAllahلِيَجْعَلَto makeعَلَيْكُمfor youمِّنْanyحَرَجٍdifficultyوَلَٰكِنbutيُرِيدُHe intendsلِيُطَهِّرَكُمْto purify youوَلِيُتِمَّand to completeنِعْمَتَهُۥHis Favorعَلَيْكُمْupon youلَعَلَّكُمْso that you mayتَشْكُرُونَ(be) grateful6
وَٱذْكُرُوا۟And rememberنِعْمَةَ(the) Favorٱللَّهِ(of) Allahعَلَيْكُمْupon youوَمِيثَٰقَهُand His covenantٱلَّذِىwhichوَاثَقَكُمHe bound youبِهِۦٓwith [it]إِذْwhenقُلْتُمْyou saidسَمِعْنَاWe heardوَأَطَعْنَاand we obeyedوَٱتَّقُوا۟and fearٱللَّهَAllahإِنَّIndeedٱللَّهَAllahعَلِيمٌۢ(is) All-Knowerبِذَاتِof whatٱلصُّدُورِ(is in) the breasts7
يَٰٓأَيُّهَاO youٱلَّذِينَwhoءَامَنُوا۟believeكُونُوا۟Beقَوَّٰمِينَsteadfastلِلَّهِfor Allahشُهَدَآءَ(as) witnessesبِٱلْقِسْطِin justiceوَلَاand let notيَجْرِمَنَّكُمْprevent youشَنَـَٔانُhatredقَوْمٍ(of) a peopleعَلَىٰٓ[upon]أَلَّاthat notتَعْدِلُوا۟you do justiceٱعْدِلُوا۟Be justهُوَitأَقْرَبُ(is) nearerلِلتَّقْوَىٰto [the] pietyوَٱتَّقُوا۟And fearٱللَّهَAllahإِنَّindeedٱللَّهَAllahخَبِيرٌۢ(is) All-Awareبِمَاof whatتَعْمَلُونَyou do8
وَعَدَHas promisedٱللَّهُAllahٱلَّذِينَthose whoءَامَنُوا۟believeوَعَمِلُوا۟and doٱلصَّٰلِحَٰتِthe righteous deeds لَهُمfor themمَّغْفِرَةٌ(is) forgivenessوَأَجْرٌand a rewardعَظِيمٌgreat9
وَٱلَّذِينَAnd those whoكَفَرُوا۟disbelieveوَكَذَّبُوا۟and denyبِـَٔايَٰتِنَآOur Signs أُو۟لَٰٓئِكَthoseأَصْحَٰبُ(are the) companionsٱلْجَحِيمِ(of) the Hellfire10
يَٰٓأَيُّهَاO youٱلَّذِينَwhoءَامَنُوا۟believeٱذْكُرُوا۟Rememberنِعْمَتَ(the) Favorٱللَّهِ(of) Allahعَلَيْكُمْupon youإِذْwhenهَمَّdeterminedقَوْمٌa peopleأَنthatيَبْسُطُوٓا۟they stretchإِلَيْكُمْtowards youأَيْدِيَهُمْtheir handsفَكَفَّbut He restrainedأَيْدِيَهُمْtheir handsعَنكُمْfrom youوَٱتَّقُوا۟And fearٱللَّهَAllahوَعَلَىAnd uponٱللَّهِAllahفَلْيَتَوَكَّلِso let put the trustٱلْمُؤْمِنُونَthe believers11
وَلَقَدْAnd certainlyأَخَذَtookٱللَّهُAllahمِيثَٰقَa Covenantبَنِىٓ(from the) Childrenإِسْرَٰٓءِيلَ(of) Israelوَبَعَثْنَاand We appointedمِنْهُمُamong themٱثْنَىْtwoعَشَرَ(and) tenنَقِيبًاleadersوَقَالَAnd saidٱللَّهُAllahإِنِّىIndeed, I (am)مَعَكُمْwith youلَئِنْifأَقَمْتُمُyou establishٱلصَّلَوٰةَthe prayerوَءَاتَيْتُمُand giveٱلزَّكَوٰةَthe zakahوَءَامَنتُمand you believeبِرُسُلِىin My Messengersوَعَزَّرْتُمُوهُمْand you assist themوَأَقْرَضْتُمُand you loanٱللَّهَ(to) Allahقَرْضًاa loanحَسَنًاgoodlyلَّأُكَفِّرَنَّsurely I will removeعَنكُمْfrom youسَيِّـَٔاتِكُمْyour evil deedsوَلَأُدْخِلَنَّكُمْand I will surely admit youجَنَّٰتٍ(to) gardensتَجْرِىflowمِنfromتَحْتِهَاunderneath themٱلْأَنْهَٰرُthe riversفَمَنBut whoeverكَفَرَdisbelievedبَعْدَafterذَٰلِكَthatمِنكُمْamong youفَقَدْthen certainlyضَلَّhe strayedسَوَآءَ(from) the wayٱلسَّبِيلِthe right12
فَبِمَاSo forنَقْضِهِمtheir breakingمِّيثَٰقَهُمْ(of) their covenantلَعَنَّٰهُمْWe cursed themوَجَعَلْنَاand We madeقُلُوبَهُمْtheir heartsقَٰسِيَةًhardيُحَرِّفُونَThey distortٱلْكَلِمَthe wordsعَنfromمَّوَاضِعِهِۦtheir placesوَنَسُوا۟and forgotحَظًّاa partمِّمَّاof whatذُكِّرُوا۟they were remindedبِهِۦof [it]وَلَاAnd notتَزَالُwill you ceaseتَطَّلِعُto discoverعَلَىٰofخَآئِنَةٍtreacheryمِّنْهُمْfrom themإِلَّاexceptقَلِيلًاa fewمِّنْهُمْof themفَٱعْفُBut forgiveعَنْهُمْthemوَٱصْفَحْand overlookإِنَّIndeedٱللَّهَAllahيُحِبُّlovesٱلْمُحْسِنِينَthe good-doers13
وَمِنَAnd fromٱلَّذِينَthose whoقَالُوٓا۟saidإِنَّاIndeed weنَصَٰرَىٰٓ(are) ChristiansأَخَذْنَاWe tookمِيثَٰقَهُمْtheir covenantفَنَسُوا۟but they forgotحَظًّاa partمِّمَّاof whatذُكِّرُوا۟they were remindedبِهِۦof [it]فَأَغْرَيْنَاSo We arousedبَيْنَهُمُbetween themٱلْعَدَاوَةَ[the] enmityوَٱلْبَغْضَآءَand [the] hatredإِلَىٰtillيَوْمِ(the) Dayٱلْقِيَٰمَةِ(of) the ResurrectionوَسَوْفَAnd soonيُنَبِّئُهُمُwill inform themٱللَّهُAllahبِمَاof whatكَانُوا۟they used toيَصْنَعُونَdo14
يَٰٓأَهْلَO Peopleٱلْكِتَٰبِ(of) the BookقَدْSurelyجَآءَكُمْhas come to youرَسُولُنَاOur Messengerيُبَيِّنُmaking clearلَكُمْto youكَثِيرًاmuchمِّمَّاof whatكُنتُمْyou used toتُخْفُونَconcealمِنَofٱلْكِتَٰبِthe Scriptureوَيَعْفُوا۟and overlookingعَنofكَثِيرٍmuchقَدْSurelyجَآءَكُمhas come to youمِّنَfromٱللَّهِAllahنُورٌa lightوَكِتَٰبٌand a Bookمُّبِينٌclear15
يَهْدِىGuidesبِهِwith itٱللَّهُAllahمَنِ(those) whoٱتَّبَعَseekرِضْوَٰنَهُۥHis pleasureسُبُلَ(to the) waysٱلسَّلَٰمِ(of) the peaceوَيُخْرِجُهُمand brings them outمِّنَfromٱلظُّلُمَٰتِthe darknessessإِلَىtoٱلنُّورِthe lightبِإِذْنِهِۦby His permissionوَيَهْدِيهِمْand guides themإِلَىٰtoصِرَٰطٍ(the) wayمُّسْتَقِيمٍ(the) straight16
لَّقَدْCertainlyكَفَرَdisbelieved ٱلَّذِينَthose whoقَالُوٓا۟saidإِنَّIndeedٱللَّهَAllahهُوَHeٱلْمَسِيحُ(is) the Messiahٱبْنُsonمَرْيَمَ(of) MaryamقُلْSayفَمَنThen whoيَمْلِكُhas powerمِنَagainstٱللَّهِAllahشَيْـًٔا(in) anythingإِنْifأَرَادَHe intendsأَنtoيُهْلِكَdestroyٱلْمَسِيحَthe Messiahٱبْنَsonمَرْيَمَ(of) Maryamوَأُمَّهُۥand his motherوَمَنand whoeverفِى(is) inٱلْأَرْضِthe earthجَمِيعًاallوَلِلَّهِAnd for Allahمُلْكُ(is the) dominionٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ(of) the heavensوَٱلْأَرْضِand the earthوَمَاand whatبَيْنَهُمَا(is) between both of themيَخْلُقُHe createsمَاwhatيَشَآءُHe willsوَٱللَّهُand Allahعَلَىٰ(is) onكُلِّeveryشَىْءٍthingقَدِيرٌAll-Powerful17
وَقَالَتِAnd saidٱلْيَهُودُthe Jewsوَٱلنَّصَٰرَىٰand the ChristiansنَحْنُWe (are)أَبْنَٰٓؤُا۟(the) childrenٱللَّهِ(of) Allahوَأَحِبَّٰٓؤُهُۥand His belovedقُلْSayفَلِمَThen whyيُعَذِّبُكُم(does He) punish youبِذُنُوبِكُمfor your sinsبَلْNayأَنتُمyou (are)بَشَرٌhuman beingsمِّمَّنْfrom among (those)خَلَقَHe createdيَغْفِرُHe forgivesلِمَن[for] whomيَشَآءُHe willsوَيُعَذِّبُand punishesمَنwhomيَشَآءُHe willsوَلِلَّهِAnd for Allahمُلْكُ(is the) dominionٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ(of) the heavensوَٱلْأَرْضِand the earthوَمَاand whateverبَيْنَهُمَا(is) between themوَإِلَيْهِand to Himٱلْمَصِيرُ(is) the final return18
يَٰٓأَهْلَO Peopleٱلْكِتَٰبِ(of) the BookقَدْSurelyجَآءَكُمْhas come to youرَسُولُنَاOur Messengerيُبَيِّنُhe makes clearلَكُمْto youعَلَىٰ[on]فَتْرَةٍ(after) an interval (of cessation)مِّنَofٱلرُّسُلِthe Messengersأَنlestتَقُولُوا۟you sayمَاNotجَآءَنَا(has) come to usمِنۢanyبَشِيرٍbearer of glad tidingsوَلَاand notنَذِيرٍa warnerفَقَدْBut surelyجَآءَكُمhas come to youبَشِيرٌa bearer of glad tidingsوَنَذِيرٌand a warnerوَٱللَّهُAnd Allahعَلَىٰ(is) onكُلِّeveryشَىْءٍthingقَدِيرٌAll-Powerful19
وَإِذْAnd whenقَالَsaidمُوسَىٰMusaلِقَوْمِهِۦto his peopleيَٰقَوْمِO my peopleٱذْكُرُوا۟rememberنِعْمَةَ(the) Favorٱللَّهِ(of) Allahعَلَيْكُمْupon youإِذْwhenجَعَلَHe placedفِيكُمْamong youأَنۢبِيَآءَProphetsوَجَعَلَكُمand made youمُّلُوكًاkingsوَءَاتَىٰكُمand He gave youمَّاwhatلَمْnotيُؤْتِHe (had) givenأَحَدًا(to) anyoneمِّنَfromٱلْعَٰلَمِينَthe worlds20
يَٰقَوْمِO my peopleٱدْخُلُوا۟Enterٱلْأَرْضَthe landٱلْمُقَدَّسَةَthe Holyٱلَّتِىwhichكَتَبَ(has been) ordainedٱللَّهُ(by) Allahلَكُمْfor youوَلَاand (do) notتَرْتَدُّوا۟turnعَلَىٰٓonأَدْبَارِكُمْyour backsفَتَنقَلِبُوا۟then you will turn backخَٰسِرِينَ(as) losers21
قَالُوا۟They saidيَٰمُوسَىٰٓO MusaإِنَّIndeedفِيهَاin itقَوْمًا(are) peopleجَبَّارِينَ(of) tyrannical strengthوَإِنَّاand indeed, weلَنneverنَّدْخُلَهَاwill enter itحَتَّىٰuntilيَخْرُجُوا۟they leaveمِنْهَاfrom itفَإِنand ifيَخْرُجُوا۟they leaveمِنْهَا[from] itفَإِنَّاthen certainly we (will)دَٰخِلُونَenter (it)22
قَالَSaidرَجُلَانِtwo menمِنَfromٱلَّذِينَthose whoيَخَافُونَfeared (Allah)أَنْعَمَ(had) favoredٱللَّهُAllahعَلَيْهِمَا[on] both of themٱدْخُلُوا۟Enterعَلَيْهِمُupon themٱلْبَابَ(through) the gateفَإِذَاthen whenدَخَلْتُمُوهُyou have entered itفَإِنَّكُمْthen indeed, you (will be)غَٰلِبُونَvictoriousوَعَلَىAnd uponٱللَّهِAllahفَتَوَكَّلُوٓا۟then put your trustإِنifكُنتُمyou areمُّؤْمِنِينَbelievers23
قَالُوا۟They saidيَٰمُوسَىٰٓO MusaإِنَّاIndeed, weلَنneverنَّدْخُلَهَآwill enter itأَبَدًاeverمَّاforدَامُوا۟as long as they areفِيهَاin itفَٱذْهَبْSo goأَنتَyouوَرَبُّكَand your Lordفَقَٰتِلَآand you both fightإِنَّاIndeed, weهَٰهُنَاare [here]قَٰعِدُونَsitting24
قَالَHe saidرَبِّO my LordإِنِّىIndeed, Iلَآ(do) notأَمْلِكُ(have) powerإِلَّاexceptنَفْسِى(over) myselfوَأَخِىand my brotherفَٱفْرُقْso (make a) separationبَيْنَنَاbetween usوَبَيْنَand betweenٱلْقَوْمِthe peopleٱلْفَٰسِقِينَ(the) defiantly disobedient25
قَالَ(Allah) saidفَإِنَّهَاThen indeed itمُحَرَّمَةٌ(will be) forbiddenعَلَيْهِمْto themأَرْبَعِينَ(for) fortyسَنَةًyearsيَتِيهُونَthey will wanderفِىinٱلْأَرْضِthe earthفَلَاSo (do) notتَأْسَgrieveعَلَىoverٱلْقَوْمِthe peopleٱلْفَٰسِقِينَthe defiantly disobedient26
وَٱتْلُAnd reciteعَلَيْهِمْto themنَبَأَthe storyٱبْنَىْ(of) two sonsءَادَمَ(of) Adamبِٱلْحَقِّin truthإِذْwhenقَرَّبَاboth offeredقُرْبَانًاa sacrificeفَتُقُبِّلَand it was acceptedمِنْfromأَحَدِهِمَاone of themوَلَمْand notيُتَقَبَّلْwas acceptedمِنَfromٱلْءَاخَرِthe otherقَالَSaid (the latter)لَأَقْتُلَنَّكَSurely I will kill youقَالَSaid (the former)إِنَّمَاOnlyيَتَقَبَّلُacceptsٱللَّهُ(does) Allahمِنَfromٱلْمُتَّقِينَthe God fearing27
لَئِنۢIfبَسَطتَyou stretchإِلَىَّtowards meيَدَكَyour handلِتَقْتُلَنِىto kill meمَآnotأَنَاwill Iبِبَاسِطٍstretchيَدِىَmy handإِلَيْكَtowards youلِأَقْتُلَكَto kill youإِنِّىٓindeed IأَخَافُfearٱللَّهَAllahرَبَّ(the) Lordٱلْعَٰلَمِينَ(of) the worlds28
إِنِّىٓIndeed, Iأُرِيدُwishأَنthatتَبُوٓأَyou be ladenبِإِثْمِىwith my sinوَإِثْمِكَand your sinفَتَكُونَso you will beمِنْamongأَصْحَٰبِ(the) companionsٱلنَّارِ(of) the Fireوَذَٰلِكَand thatجَزَٰٓؤُا۟(is the) recompenseٱلظَّٰلِمِينَ(of) the wrong-doers29
فَطَوَّعَتْThen promptedلَهُۥto himنَفْسُهُۥhis soulقَتْلَ(to) killأَخِيهِhis brotherفَقَتَلَهُۥso he killed himفَأَصْبَحَand becameمِنَofٱلْخَٰسِرِينَthe losers30
فَبَعَثَThen (was) sentٱللَّهُ(by) Allahغُرَابًاa crowيَبْحَثُit (was) scratchingفِىinٱلْأَرْضِthe earthلِيُرِيَهُۥto show himكَيْفَhowيُوَٰرِىto hideسَوْءَةَ(the) dead bodyأَخِيهِ(of) his brotherقَالَHe saidيَٰوَيْلَتَىٰٓWoe to meأَعَجَزْتُAm I unableأَنْthatأَكُونَI can beمِثْلَlikeهَٰذَاthisٱلْغُرَابِ[the] crowفَأُوَٰرِىَand hideسَوْءَةَ(the) dead bodyأَخِى(of) my brotherفَأَصْبَحَThen he becameمِنَofٱلنَّٰدِمِينَthe regretful31
مِنْFromأَجْلِtimeذَٰلِكَthatكَتَبْنَاWe ordainedعَلَىٰonبَنِىٓ(the) Childrenإِسْرَٰٓءِيلَ(of) Israelأَنَّهُۥthat heمَنwhoقَتَلَkillsنَفْسًۢاa soulبِغَيْرِother thanنَفْسٍ(for) a soulأَوْorفَسَادٍ(for) spreading corruptionفِىinٱلْأَرْضِthe earthفَكَأَنَّمَاthen (it) is as ifقَتَلَhe has killedٱلنَّاسَmankindجَمِيعًاallوَمَنْand whoeverأَحْيَاهَاsaves itفَكَأَنَّمَآthen (it) is as ifأَحْيَاhe has savedٱلنَّاسَmankindجَمِيعًاallوَلَقَدْAnd surelyجَآءَتْهُمْcame to themرُسُلُنَاOur Messengersبِٱلْبَيِّنَٰتِwith clear Signsثُمَّyetإِنَّindeedكَثِيرًاmanyمِّنْهُمof themبَعْدَafterذَٰلِكَthatفِىinٱلْأَرْضِthe earthلَمُسْرِفُونَ(are) surely those who commit excesses32
إِنَّمَاOnlyجَزَٰٓؤُا۟(the) recompenseٱلَّذِينَ(for) those whoيُحَارِبُونَwage warٱللَّهَ(against) Allahوَرَسُولَهُۥand His Messengerوَيَسْعَوْنَand striveفِىinٱلْأَرْضِthe earthفَسَادًاspreading corruptionأَن(is) thatيُقَتَّلُوٓا۟they be killedأَوْorيُصَلَّبُوٓا۟they be crucifiedأَوْorتُقَطَّعَbe cut offأَيْدِيهِمْtheir handsوَأَرْجُلُهُمand their feetمِّنْofخِلَٰفٍopposite sidesأَوْorيُنفَوْا۟they be exiledمِنَfromٱلْأَرْضِthe landذَٰلِكَThatلَهُمْ(is) for themخِزْىٌdisgraceفِىinٱلدُّنْيَاthe worldوَلَهُمْand for themفِىinٱلْءَاخِرَةِthe Hereafterعَذَابٌ(is) a punishmentعَظِيمٌgreat33
إِلَّاExceptٱلَّذِينَthose whoتَابُوا۟repentمِنfromقَبْلِbeforeأَنthatتَقْدِرُوا۟you overpowerعَلَيْهِمْ[over] themفَٱعْلَمُوٓا۟then knowأَنَّthatٱللَّهَAllahغَفُورٌ(is) Oft-ForgivingرَّحِيمٌMost Merciful34
يَٰٓأَيُّهَاO youٱلَّذِينَwhoءَامَنُوا۟believeٱتَّقُوا۟FearٱللَّهَAllahوَٱبْتَغُوٓا۟and seekإِلَيْهِtowards Himٱلْوَسِيلَةَthe meansوَجَٰهِدُوا۟and strive hardفِىinسَبِيلِهِۦHis wayلَعَلَّكُمْso that you mayتُفْلِحُونَsucceed35
إِنَّIndeedٱلَّذِينَthose whoكَفَرُوا۟disbelieveلَوْifأَنَّthatلَهُمfor themمَّا(is) whatفِى(is) inٱلْأَرْضِthe earthجَمِيعًاallوَمِثْلَهُۥand the like of itمَعَهُۥwith itلِيَفْتَدُوا۟to ransom themselvesبِهِۦwith itمِنْfromعَذَابِ(the) punishmentيَوْمِ(of the) Dayٱلْقِيَٰمَةِ(of) the Resurrectionمَاnotتُقُبِّلَwill be acceptedمِنْهُمْfrom themوَلَهُمْand for themعَذَابٌ(is) a punishmentأَلِيمٌpainful36
يُرِيدُونَThey will wishأَنthatيَخْرُجُوا۟they come outمِنَofٱلنَّارِthe Fireوَمَاbut notهُمtheyبِخَٰرِجِينَwill come outمِنْهَاof itوَلَهُمْAnd for themعَذَابٌ(is) a punishmentمُّقِيمٌlasting37
وَٱلسَّارِقُAnd (for) the male thiefوَٱلسَّارِقَةُand the female thief فَٱقْطَعُوٓا۟[then] cut offأَيْدِيَهُمَاtheir handsجَزَآءًۢ(as) a recompenseبِمَاfor whatكَسَبَاthey earnedنَكَٰلًا(as) an exemplary (punishment)مِّنَfromٱللَّهِAllahوَٱللَّهُAnd Allahعَزِيزٌ(is) All-MightyحَكِيمٌAll-Wise38
فَمَنBut whoeverتَابَrepentedمِنۢfromبَعْدِafterظُلْمِهِۦhis wrongdoingوَأَصْلَحَand reformsفَإِنَّthen indeedٱللَّهَAllahيَتُوبُwill turn in forgivenessعَلَيْهِto himإِنَّIndeedٱللَّهَAllahغَفُورٌ(is) Oft-ForgivingرَّحِيمٌMost Merciful39
أَلَمْDo notتَعْلَمْyou knowأَنَّthatٱللَّهَAllahلَهُۥto Him (belongs)مُلْكُ(the) dominionٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ(of) the heavensوَٱلْأَرْضِand the earthيُعَذِّبُHe punishesمَنwhomيَشَآءُHe willsوَيَغْفِرُand He forgivesلِمَن[to] whomيَشَآءُHe willsوَٱللَّهُAnd Allahعَلَىٰ(is) onكُلِّeveryشَىْءٍthingقَدِيرٌAll-Powerful40
يَٰٓأَيُّهَاOٱلرَّسُولُMessengerلَاLet notيَحْزُنكَgrieve youٱلَّذِينَthose whoيُسَٰرِعُونَhastenفِىin (to)ٱلْكُفْرِ[the] disbelief مِنَofٱلَّذِينَthose whoقَالُوٓا۟saidءَامَنَّاWe believeبِأَفْوَٰهِهِمْwith their mouthsوَلَمْand notتُؤْمِنbelieveقُلُوبُهُمْtheir heartsوَمِنَand fromٱلَّذِينَthose whoهَادُوا۟(are) JewsسَمَّٰعُونَThey (are) listenersلِلْكَذِبِto falsehoodسَمَّٰعُونَ(and) listenersلِقَوْمٍfor peopleءَاخَرِينَotherلَمْ(who have) notيَأْتُوكَcome to youيُحَرِّفُونَThey distortٱلْكَلِمَthe wordsمِنۢfromبَعْدِafterمَوَاضِعِهِۦtheir contextيَقُولُونَsayingإِنْIfأُوتِيتُمْyou are givenهَٰذَاthisفَخُذُوهُ[so] take itوَإِنbut ifلَّمْnotتُؤْتَوْهُyou are given itفَٱحْذَرُوا۟then bewareوَمَنAnd (for) whomيُرِدِintendsٱللَّهُAllahفِتْنَتَهُۥhis trialفَلَنthen neverتَمْلِكَwill you have powerلَهُۥfor himمِنَagainstٱللَّهِAllahشَيْـًٔاanythingأُو۟لَٰٓئِكَThoseٱلَّذِينَ(are) the onesلَمْneverيُرِدِwill intendٱللَّهُAllahأَنthatيُطَهِّرَHe purifiesقُلُوبَهُمْtheir heartsلَهُمْFor themفِىinٱلدُّنْيَاthe worldخِزْىٌ(is) disgraceوَلَهُمْand for themفِىinٱلْءَاخِرَةِthe Hereafterعَذَابٌ(is) a punishmentعَظِيمٌgreat41
سَمَّٰعُونَListenersلِلْكَذِبِto [the] falsehoodأَكَّٰلُونَdevourersلِلسُّحْتِof the forbiddenفَإِنSo ifجَآءُوكَthey come to youفَٱحْكُمthen judgeبَيْنَهُمْbetween themأَوْorأَعْرِضْturn awayعَنْهُمْfrom themوَإِنAnd ifتُعْرِضْyou turn awayعَنْهُمْfrom themفَلَنthen neverيَضُرُّوكَwill they harm youشَيْـًٔا(in) anythingوَإِنْAnd ifحَكَمْتَyou judgeفَٱحْكُمthen judgeبَيْنَهُمbetween themبِٱلْقِسْطِwith [the] justiceإِنَّIndeedٱللَّهَAllahيُحِبُّlovesٱلْمُقْسِطِينَthe ones who are just42
وَكَيْفَBut how canيُحَكِّمُونَكَthey appoint you a judgeوَعِندَهُمُwhile they (have) with themٱلتَّوْرَىٰةُthe Tauratفِيهَاin itحُكْمُ(is the) Commandٱللَّهِ(of) AllahثُمَّThenيَتَوَلَّوْنَthey turn awayمِنۢfromبَعْدِafterذَٰلِكَthatوَمَآand notأُو۟لَٰٓئِكَthoseبِٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ(are) the believers43
إِنَّآIndeedأَنزَلْنَاWe revealedٱلتَّوْرَىٰةَthe Tauratفِيهَاin itهُدًى(was) Guidanceوَنُورٌand lightيَحْكُمُjudgedبِهَاby itٱلنَّبِيُّونَthe Prophetsٱلَّذِينَthose whoأَسْلَمُوا۟had submitted (to Allah)لِلَّذِينَfor those whoهَادُوا۟were Jewsوَٱلرَّبَّٰنِيُّونَand the Rabbisوَٱلْأَحْبَارُand the scholarsبِمَاwith whatٱسْتُحْفِظُوا۟they were entrustedمِنofكِتَٰبِ(the) Bookٱللَّهِ(of) Allahوَكَانُوا۟and they wereعَلَيْهِto itشُهَدَآءَwitnessesفَلَاSo (do) notتَخْشَوُا۟fearٱلنَّاسَthe peopleوَٱخْشَوْنِbut fear Meوَلَاand (do) notتَشْتَرُوا۟sellبِـَٔايَٰتِىMy Versesثَمَنًا(for) a priceقَلِيلًاlittleوَمَنAnd whoeverلَّمْ(does) notيَحْكُمjudgeبِمَآby whatأَنزَلَhas revealedٱللَّهُAllahفَأُو۟لَٰٓئِكَthen thoseهُمُ[they]ٱلْكَٰفِرُونَ(are) the disbelievers44
وَكَتَبْنَاAnd We ordainedعَلَيْهِمْfor themفِيهَآin itأَنَّthat ٱلنَّفْسَthe lifeبِٱلنَّفْسِfor the lifeوَٱلْعَيْنَand the eyeبِٱلْعَيْنِfor the eyeوَٱلْأَنفَand the noseبِٱلْأَنفِfor the noseوَٱلْأُذُنَand the earبِٱلْأُذُنِfor the earوَٱلسِّنَّand the toothبِٱلسِّنِّfor the toothوَٱلْجُرُوحَand (for) woundsقِصَاصٌ(is) retributionفَمَنBut whoeverتَصَدَّقَgives charityبِهِۦwith itفَهُوَthen it isكَفَّارَةٌan expiationلَّهُۥfor himوَمَنAnd whoeverلَّمْ(does) notيَحْكُمjudgeبِمَآby whatأَنزَلَhas revealedٱللَّهُAllahفَأُو۟لَٰٓئِكَthen thoseهُمُ[they]ٱلظَّٰلِمُونَ(are) the wrongdoers45
وَقَفَّيْنَاAnd We sentعَلَىٰٓonءَاثَٰرِهِمtheir footstepsبِعِيسَىIsaٱبْنِsonمَرْيَمَ(of) Maryamمُصَدِّقًاconfirmingلِّمَاwhatبَيْنَ(was) betweenيَدَيْهِhis handsمِنَofٱلتَّوْرَىٰةِthe Tauratوَءَاتَيْنَٰهُand We gave himٱلْإِنجِيلَthe Injeelفِيهِin itهُدًى(was) Guidanceوَنُورٌand lightوَمُصَدِّقًاand confirmingلِّمَاwhatبَيْنَ(was) betweenيَدَيْهِhis handsمِنَofٱلتَّوْرَىٰةِthe Tauratوَهُدًىand a Guidanceوَمَوْعِظَةًand an admonitionلِّلْمُتَّقِينَfor the God conscious46
وَلْيَحْكُمْAnd let judgeأَهْلُ(the) Peopleٱلْإِنجِيلِ(of) the Injeelبِمَآby whatأَنزَلَhas revealedٱللَّهُAllahفِيهِin itوَمَنAnd whoeverلَّمْ(does) notيَحْكُمjudgeبِمَآby whatأَنزَلَhas revealedٱللَّهُAllahفَأُو۟لَٰٓئِكَthen thoseهُمُ[they] (are)ٱلْفَٰسِقُونَthe defiantly disobedient47
وَأَنزَلْنَآAnd We revealedإِلَيْكَto youٱلْكِتَٰبَthe Bookبِٱلْحَقِّin [the] truthمُصَدِّقًاconfirmingلِّمَاwhatبَيْنَ(was) beforeيَدَيْهِhis handsمِنَofٱلْكِتَٰبِthe Bookوَمُهَيْمِنًاand a guardianعَلَيْهِover itفَٱحْكُمSo judgeبَيْنَهُمbetween themبِمَآby whatأَنزَلَhas revealedٱللَّهُAllahوَلَاand (do) notتَتَّبِعْfollowأَهْوَآءَهُمْtheir vain desiresعَمَّاwhenجَآءَكَhas come to youمِنَofٱلْحَقِّthe truthلِكُلٍّFor eachجَعَلْنَاWe have madeمِنكُمْfor youشِرْعَةًa lawوَمِنْهَاجًاand a clear wayوَلَوْAnd ifشَآءَ(had) willedٱللَّهُAllahلَجَعَلَكُمْHe (would have) made youأُمَّةًa communityوَٰحِدَةًoneوَلَٰكِن[and] butلِّيَبْلُوَكُمْto test youفِىinمَآwhatءَاتَىٰكُمْHe (has) given youفَٱسْتَبِقُوا۟so raceٱلْخَيْرَٰتِ(to) the goodإِلَىToٱللَّهِAllahمَرْجِعُكُمْyou will returnجَمِيعًاallفَيُنَبِّئُكُمthen He will inform youبِمَاof whatكُنتُمْyou wereفِيهِconcerning itتَخْتَلِفُونَdiffering48
وَأَنِAnd thatٱحْكُمyou judgeبَيْنَهُمbetween themبِمَآby whatأَنزَلَ(has) revealedٱللَّهُAllahوَلَاand (do) notتَتَّبِعْfollowأَهْوَآءَهُمْtheir vain desiresوَٱحْذَرْهُمْand beware of themأَنlestيَفْتِنُوكَthey tempt you awayعَنۢfromبَعْضِsomeمَآ(of) whatأَنزَلَhas revealedٱللَّهُAllahإِلَيْكَto youفَإِنAnd ifتَوَلَّوْا۟they turn awayفَٱعْلَمْthen know thatأَنَّمَاonlyيُرِيدُintendsٱللَّهُAllahأَنtoيُصِيبَهُمafflict themبِبَعْضِfor someذُنُوبِهِمْ(of) their sinsوَإِنَّAnd indeedكَثِيرًاmanyمِّنَofٱلنَّاسِthe peopleلَفَٰسِقُونَ(are) defiantly disobedient49
أَفَحُكْمَIs it then the judgmentٱلْجَٰهِلِيَّةِ(of the time of) ignoranceيَبْغُونَthey seekوَمَنْAnd who (is)أَحْسَنُbetterمِنَthanٱللَّهِAllahحُكْمًا(in) judgmentلِّقَوْمٍfor a peopleيُوقِنُونَ(who) firmly believe50
يَٰٓأَيُّهَاO youٱلَّذِينَwhoءَامَنُوا۟believeلَا(Do) notتَتَّخِذُوا۟takeٱلْيَهُودَthe Jewsوَٱلنَّصَٰرَىٰٓand the Christiansأَوْلِيَآءَ(as) alliesبَعْضُهُمْSome of themأَوْلِيَآءُ(are) alliesبَعْضٍ(to) othersوَمَنAnd whoeverيَتَوَلَّهُمtakes them as alliesمِّنكُمْamong youفَإِنَّهُۥthen indeed, heمِنْهُمْ(is) of themإِنَّIndeedٱللَّهَAllahلَا(does) notيَهْدِىguideٱلْقَوْمَthe peopleٱلظَّٰلِمِينَthe wrongdoing51
فَتَرَىAnd you seeٱلَّذِينَthose فِىinقُلُوبِهِمtheir heartsمَّرَضٌ(is) a diseaseيُسَٰرِعُونَthey hastenفِيهِمْto themيَقُولُونَsayingنَخْشَىٰٓWe fearأَنthatتُصِيبَنَا(may) strike usدَآئِرَةٌa misfortuneفَعَسَىBut perhapsٱللَّهُAllahأَن[that]يَأْتِىَwill bringبِٱلْفَتْحِthe victoryأَوْorأَمْرٍa decisionمِّنْfromعِندِهِۦ(of) Himفَيُصْبِحُوا۟Then they will becomeعَلَىٰforمَآwhatأَسَرُّوا۟they had concealedفِىٓwithinأَنفُسِهِمْthemselvesنَٰدِمِينَregretful52
وَيَقُولُAnd will sayٱلَّذِينَthose whoءَامَنُوٓا۟believeأَهَٰٓؤُلَآءِAre theseٱلَّذِينَthose whoأَقْسَمُوا۟sworeبِٱللَّهِby Allahجَهْدَstrongestأَيْمَٰنِهِمْ(of) their oathsإِنَّهُمْindeed, theyلَمَعَكُمْ(were) with youحَبِطَتْBecame worthlessأَعْمَٰلُهُمْtheir deedsفَأَصْبَحُوا۟and they becameخَٰسِرِينَ(the) losers53
يَٰٓأَيُّهَاO youٱلَّذِينَwhoءَامَنُوا۟believeمَنWhoeverيَرْتَدَّturns backمِنكُمْamong youعَنfromدِينِهِۦhis religionفَسَوْفَthen soonيَأْتِى(will be) broughtٱللَّهُ(by) Allahبِقَوْمٍa peopleيُحِبُّهُمْwhom He lovesوَيُحِبُّونَهُۥٓand they love Himأَذِلَّةٍhumbleعَلَىtowardsٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَthe believersأَعِزَّةٍ(and) sternعَلَىtowardsٱلْكَٰفِرِينَthe disbelieversيُجَٰهِدُونَstrivingفِىinسَبِيلِ(the) wayٱللَّهِ(of) Allahوَلَاand notيَخَافُونَfearingلَوْمَةَthe blameلَآئِمٍ(of) a criticذَٰلِكَThatفَضْلُ(is the) Graceٱللَّهِ(of) AllahيُؤْتِيهِHe grantsمَنwhomيَشَآءُHe willsوَٱللَّهُAnd Allahوَٰسِعٌ(is) All-EncompassingعَلِيمٌAll-Knowing54
إِنَّمَاOnlyوَلِيُّكُمُyour allyٱللَّهُ(is) Allahوَرَسُولُهُۥand His Messengerوَٱلَّذِينَand those whoءَامَنُوا۟believeٱلَّذِينَand those whoيُقِيمُونَestablishٱلصَّلَوٰةَthe prayerوَيُؤْتُونَand giveٱلزَّكَوٰةَzakahوَهُمْand theyرَٰكِعُونَ(are) those who bow down55
وَمَنAnd whoeverيَتَوَلَّtakes as an allyٱللَّهَAllahوَرَسُولَهُۥand His Messengerوَٱلَّذِينَand those whoءَامَنُوا۟believeفَإِنَّthen indeedحِزْبَ(the) partyٱللَّهِ(of) Allah هُمُtheyٱلْغَٰلِبُونَ(are) the victorious56
يَٰٓأَيُّهَاO youٱلَّذِينَwhoءَامَنُوا۟believeلَا(Do) notتَتَّخِذُوا۟takeٱلَّذِينَthose whoٱتَّخَذُوا۟takeدِينَكُمْyour religionهُزُوًا(in) ridiculeوَلَعِبًاand funمِّنَfromٱلَّذِينَthose whoأُوتُوا۟are givenٱلْكِتَٰبَthe Bookمِنfromقَبْلِكُمْbefore youوَٱلْكُفَّارَand the disbelieversأَوْلِيَآءَ(as) alliesوَٱتَّقُوا۟And fearٱللَّهَAllahإِنifكُنتُمyou areمُّؤْمِنِينَbelievers57
وَإِذَاAnd whenنَادَيْتُمْyou make a callإِلَىforٱلصَّلَوٰةِthe prayerٱتَّخَذُوهَاthey take itهُزُوًا(in) ridiculeوَلَعِبًاand funذَٰلِكَThatبِأَنَّهُمْ(is) because theyقَوْمٌ(are) a peopleلَّا(who do) notيَعْقِلُونَunderstand58
قُلْSayيَٰٓأَهْلَO Peopleٱلْكِتَٰبِ(of) the BookهَلْDoتَنقِمُونَyou resentمِنَّآ[of] usإِلَّآexceptأَنْthatءَامَنَّاwe believeبِٱللَّهِin Allahوَمَآand whatأُنزِلَhas been revealedإِلَيْنَاto usوَمَآand whatأُنزِلَwas revealedمِنfromقَبْلُbeforeوَأَنَّand thatأَكْثَرَكُمْmost of youفَٰسِقُونَ(are) defiantly disobedient59
قُلْSayهَلْShallأُنَبِّئُكُمI inform youبِشَرٍّ(of) worseمِّنthanذَٰلِكَthatمَثُوبَةً(as) recompenseعِندَfromٱللَّهِAllahمَنWhomلَّعَنَهُhas (been) cursedٱللَّهُ(by) Allahوَغَضِبَand He became angryعَلَيْهِwith himوَجَعَلَand madeمِنْهُمُof themٱلْقِرَدَةَ[the] apesوَٱلْخَنَازِيرَand [the] swinesوَعَبَدَand (who) worshippedٱلطَّٰغُوتَthe false deitiesأُو۟لَٰٓئِكَThoseشَرٌّ(are) worseمَّكَانًا(in) positionوَأَضَلُّand farthest astrayعَنfromسَوَآءِ(the) evenٱلسَّبِيلِway60
وَإِذَاAnd whenجَآءُوكُمْthey come to youقَالُوٓا۟they sayءَامَنَّاWe believeوَقَدBut certainlyدَّخَلُوا۟they enteredبِٱلْكُفْرِwith disbeliefوَهُمْand theyقَدْcertainlyخَرَجُوا۟went outبِهِۦwith itوَٱللَّهُAnd Allahأَعْلَمُknows bestبِمَا[of] whatكَانُوا۟they wereيَكْتُمُونَhiding61
وَتَرَىٰAnd you seeكَثِيرًاmanyمِّنْهُمْof themيُسَٰرِعُونَhasteningفِىintoٱلْإِثْمِ[the] sinوَٱلْعُدْوَٰنِand [the] transgressionوَأَكْلِهِمُand eatingٱلسُّحْتَthe forbiddenلَبِئْسَSurely evilمَا(is) whatكَانُوا۟they wereيَعْمَلُونَdoing62
لَوْلَاWhy (do) notيَنْهَىٰهُمُforbid themٱلرَّبَّٰنِيُّونَthe Rabbisوَٱلْأَحْبَارُand the religious scholarsعَنfromقَوْلِهِمُtheir sayingٱلْإِثْمَthe sinfulوَأَكْلِهِمُand their eatingٱلسُّحْتَ(of) the forbiddenلَبِئْسَSurely, evilمَا(is) whatكَانُوا۟they used toيَصْنَعُونَdo63
وَقَالَتِAnd saidٱلْيَهُودُthe JewsيَدُThe Handٱللَّهِ(of) Allahمَغْلُولَةٌ(is) chainedغُلَّتْAre chainedأَيْدِيهِمْtheir handsوَلُعِنُوا۟and they have been cursedبِمَاfor whatقَالُوا۟they saidبَلْNayيَدَاهُHis Handsمَبْسُوطَتَانِ(are) stretched outيُنفِقُHe spendsكَيْفَhowيَشَآءُHe willsوَلَيَزِيدَنَّAnd surely increaseكَثِيرًاmanyمِّنْهُمof themمَّآwhatأُنزِلَhas been revealedإِلَيْكَto youمِنfromرَّبِّكَyour Lordطُغْيَٰنًا(in) rebellionوَكُفْرًاand disbeliefوَأَلْقَيْنَاAnd We have castبَيْنَهُمُamong themٱلْعَدَٰوَةَ[the] enmityوَٱلْبَغْضَآءَand [the] hatredإِلَىٰtillيَوْمِ(the) Dayٱلْقِيَٰمَةِ(of) the ResurrectionكُلَّمَآEvery timeأَوْقَدُوا۟they kindledنَارًا(the) fireلِّلْحَرْبِof [the] warأَطْفَأَهَاit (was) extinguishedٱللَّهُ(by) AllahوَيَسْعَوْنَAnd they striveفِىinٱلْأَرْضِthe earthفَسَادًاspreading corruptionوَٱللَّهُAnd Allahلَا(does) notيُحِبُّloveٱلْمُفْسِدِينَthe corrupters64
وَلَوْAnd ifأَنَّthatأَهْلَ(the) Peopleٱلْكِتَٰبِ(of) the Bookءَامَنُوا۟(had) believedوَٱتَّقَوْا۟and feared (Allah)لَكَفَّرْنَاsurely We (would have) removedعَنْهُمْfrom themسَيِّـَٔاتِهِمْtheir evil (deeds)وَلَأَدْخَلْنَٰهُمْand surely We (would have) admitted themجَنَّٰتِ(to) Gardensٱلنَّعِيمِ(of) Bliss65
وَلَوْAnd ifأَنَّهُمْthat theyأَقَامُوا۟had stood firmlyٱلتَّوْرَىٰةَ(by) the Tauratوَٱلْإِنجِيلَand the Injeelوَمَآand whatأُنزِلَwas revealedإِلَيْهِمto themمِّنfromرَّبِّهِمْtheir Lordلَأَكَلُوا۟surely they (would have) eatenمِنfromفَوْقِهِمْabove themوَمِنand fromتَحْتِbeneathأَرْجُلِهِمtheir feetمِّنْهُمْAmong themأُمَّةٌ(is) a communityمُّقْتَصِدَةٌmoderateوَكَثِيرٌbut manyمِّنْهُمْof them سَآءَevilمَا(is) whatيَعْمَلُونَthey do66
يَٰٓأَيُّهَاOٱلرَّسُولُMessengerبَلِّغْConveyمَآwhatأُنزِلَhas been revealedإِلَيْكَto youمِنfromرَّبِّكَyour Lordوَإِنand ifلَّمْnotتَفْعَلْyou doفَمَاthen notبَلَّغْتَyou (have) conveyedرِسَالَتَهُۥHis MessageوَٱللَّهُAnd Allahيَعْصِمُكَwill protect youمِنَfromٱلنَّاسِthe peopleإِنَّIndeedٱللَّهَAllahلَا(does) notيَهْدِىguideٱلْقَوْمَthe peopleٱلْكَٰفِرِينَthe disbelieving67
قُلْSayيَٰٓأَهْلَO Peopleٱلْكِتَٰبِ(of) the BookلَسْتُمْYou are notعَلَىٰonشَىْءٍanythingحَتَّىٰuntilتُقِيمُوا۟you stand firmlyٱلتَّوْرَىٰةَ(by) the Tauratوَٱلْإِنجِيلَand the Injeelوَمَآand whatأُنزِلَhas been revealedإِلَيْكُمto youمِّنfromرَّبِّكُمْyour LordوَلَيَزِيدَنَّAnd surely increaseكَثِيرًاmanyمِّنْهُمof themمَّآwhatأُنزِلَhas been revealedإِلَيْكَto youمِنfromرَّبِّكَyour Lordطُغْيَٰنًا(in) rebellionوَكُفْرًاand disbeliefفَلَاSo (do) notتَأْسَgrieveعَلَىoverٱلْقَوْمِthe peopleٱلْكَٰفِرِينَthe disbelieving68
إِنَّIndeedٱلَّذِينَthose whoءَامَنُوا۟believedوَٱلَّذِينَand those whoهَادُوا۟became Jewsوَٱلصَّٰبِـُٔونَand the Sabiansوَٱلنَّصَٰرَىٰand the Christiansمَنْwhoeverءَامَنَbelievedبِٱللَّهِin Allahوَٱلْيَوْمِand the Dayٱلْءَاخِرِthe Lastوَعَمِلَand didصَٰلِحًاgood deedsفَلَاthen noخَوْفٌfearعَلَيْهِمْon themوَلَاand notهُمْtheyيَحْزَنُونَwill grieve69
لَقَدْCertainlyأَخَذْنَاWe tookمِيثَٰقَa Covenantبَنِىٓ(from the) Childrenإِسْرَٰٓءِيلَ(of) Israelوَأَرْسَلْنَآand We sentإِلَيْهِمْto themرُسُلًاMessengersكُلَّمَاWheneverجَآءَهُمْcame to themرَسُولٌۢany Messengerبِمَاwith whatلَاnotتَهْوَىٰٓdesiredأَنفُسُهُمْtheir soulsفَرِيقًاa groupكَذَّبُوا۟they deniedوَفَرِيقًاand a groupيَقْتُلُونَthey kill70
وَحَسِبُوٓا۟And they thoughtأَلَّاthat notتَكُونَwill be (for them)فِتْنَةٌa trialفَعَمُوا۟so they became blindوَصَمُّوا۟and they became deafثُمَّThenتَابَturnedٱللَّهُAllahعَلَيْهِمْto themثُمَّthen (again)عَمُوا۟they became blindوَصَمُّوا۟and they became deafكَثِيرٌmanyمِّنْهُمْof themوَٱللَّهُAnd Allahبَصِيرٌۢ(is) All-Seerبِمَاof whatيَعْمَلُونَthey do71
لَقَدْCertainlyكَفَرَdisbelievedٱلَّذِينَthose whoقَالُوٓا۟sayإِنَّIndeedٱللَّهَAllah هُوَHeٱلْمَسِيحُ(is) the Messiahٱبْنُsonمَرْيَمَ(of) MaryamوَقَالَWhile saidٱلْمَسِيحُthe MessiahيَٰبَنِىٓO Childrenإِسْرَٰٓءِيلَ(of) Israelٱعْبُدُوا۟WorshipٱللَّهَAllahرَبِّىmy Lordوَرَبَّكُمْand your LordإِنَّهُۥIndeed, heمَنwhoيُشْرِكْassociates partnersبِٱللَّهِwith Allahفَقَدْthen surelyحَرَّمَ(has) forbiddenٱللَّهُAllahعَلَيْهِfor himٱلْجَنَّةَParadiseوَمَأْوَىٰهُand his abodeٱلنَّارُ(will be) the FireوَمَاAnd notلِلظَّٰلِمِينَfor the wrongdoersمِنْanyأَنصَارٍhelpers72
لَّقَدْCertainlyكَفَرَdisbelievedٱلَّذِينَthose whoقَالُوٓا۟sayإِنَّIndeedٱللَّهَAllahثَالِثُ(is the) thirdثَلَٰثَةٍ(of) threeوَمَاAnd (there is) noمِنْ[of]إِلَٰهٍgodإِلَّآexceptإِلَٰهٌ(the) Godوَٰحِدٌ(the) OneوَإِنAnd ifلَّمْnotيَنتَهُوا۟they desistعَمَّاfrom whatيَقُولُونَthey are sayingلَيَمَسَّنَّsurely will afflictٱلَّذِينَthose whoكَفَرُوا۟disbelievedمِنْهُمْamong themعَذَابٌa punishmentأَلِيمٌpainful73
أَفَلَاSo will notيَتُوبُونَthey turn in repentanceإِلَىtoٱللَّهِAllahوَيَسْتَغْفِرُونَهُۥand seek His forgivenessوَٱللَّهُAnd Allahغَفُورٌ(is) Oft-ForgivingرَّحِيمٌMost Merciful74
مَّاNotٱلْمَسِيحُ(is) the Messiahٱبْنُsonمَرْيَمَ(of) Maryamإِلَّاbutرَسُولٌa Messengerقَدْcertainlyخَلَتْhad passedمِنfromقَبْلِهِbefore himٱلرُّسُلُthe MessengersوَأُمُّهُۥAnd his motherصِدِّيقَةٌ(was) truthfulكَانَاThey both used toيَأْكُلَانِeatٱلطَّعَامَ[the] foodٱنظُرْSeeكَيْفَhowنُبَيِّنُWe make clearلَهُمُto themٱلْءَايَٰتِthe Signsثُمَّthenٱنظُرْseeأَنَّىٰhowيُؤْفَكُونَthey are deluded75
قُلْSayأَتَعْبُدُونَDo you worshipمِنfromدُونِbesidesٱللَّهِAllahمَاwhatلَاnotيَمْلِكُhas powerلَكُمْto (cause) youضَرًّاany harmوَلَاand notنَفْعًاany benefitوَٱللَّهُwhile AllahهُوَHeٱلسَّمِيعُ(is) the All-Hearingٱلْعَلِيمُthe All-Knowing76
قُلْSayيَٰٓأَهْلَO Peopleٱلْكِتَٰبِ(of) the Bookلَا(Do) notتَغْلُوا۟exceedفِىinدِينِكُمْyour religionغَيْرَother thanٱلْحَقِّthe truthوَلَاand (do) notتَتَّبِعُوٓا۟followأَهْوَآءَ(vain) desiresقَوْمٍ(of) a peopleقَدْcertainlyضَلُّوا۟who went astrayمِنfromقَبْلُbeforeوَأَضَلُّوا۟and they misledكَثِيرًاmanyوَضَلُّوا۟and they have strayedعَنfromسَوَآءِ(the) rightٱلسَّبِيلِ[the] way77
لُعِنَWere cursedٱلَّذِينَthose whoكَفَرُوا۟disbelievedمِنۢfromبَنِىٓ(the) Childrenإِسْرَٰٓءِيلَ(of) Israelعَلَىٰbyلِسَانِ(the) tongueدَاوُۥدَ(of) Dawoodوَعِيسَىand Isaٱبْنِsonمَرْيَمَ(of) Maryamذَٰلِكَthat (was)بِمَاbecauseعَصَوا۟they disobeyedوَّكَانُوا۟and they wereيَعْتَدُونَtransgressing78
كَانُوا۟They had beenلَاnotيَتَنَاهَوْنَforbidding each otherعَنfromمُّنكَرٍwrongdoingفَعَلُوهُthey did [it]لَبِئْسَSurely, evilمَا(was) whatكَانُوا۟they wereيَفْعَلُونَdoing79
تَرَىٰYou seeكَثِيرًاmanyمِّنْهُمْof themيَتَوَلَّوْنَtaking as alliesٱلَّذِينَthose whoكَفَرُوا۟disbelievedلَبِئْسَSurely evilمَا(is) whatقَدَّمَتْsent forthلَهُمْfor themأَنفُسُهُمْtheir soulsأَنthatسَخِطَbecame angryٱللَّهُAllahعَلَيْهِمْwith themوَفِىand inٱلْعَذَابِthe punishmentهُمْtheyخَٰلِدُونَ(will) abide forever80
وَلَوْAnd ifكَانُوا۟they hadيُؤْمِنُونَbelievedبِٱللَّهِin Allahوَٱلنَّبِىِّand the Prophetوَمَآand whatأُنزِلَhas been revealedإِلَيْهِto himمَاnotٱتَّخَذُوهُمْthey (would have) taken themأَوْلِيَآءَ(as) alliesوَلَٰكِنَّ[and] butكَثِيرًاmanyمِّنْهُمْof themفَٰسِقُونَ(are) defiantly disobedient81
