قَالَHe saidأَلَمْDid notأَقُلI sayلَّكَto youإِنَّكَthat youلَنneverتَسْتَطِيعَwill be ableمَعِىَwith meصَبْرًا(to have) patience75
قَالَHe saidإِنIfسَأَلْتُكَI ask youعَنaboutشَىْءٍۢanythingبَعْدَهَاafter itفَلَاthen (do) notتُصَٰحِبْنِىkeep me as a companionقَدْVerilyبَلَغْتَyou have reachedمِنfrom meلَّدُنِّىfrom meعُذْرًاan excuse76
فَٱنطَلَقَاSo they set outحَتَّىٰٓuntilإِذَآwhenأَتَيَآthey cameأَهْلَ(to the) peopleقَرْيَةٍ(of) a townٱسْتَطْعَمَآthey asked for foodأَهْلَهَا(from) its peopleفَأَبَوْا۟but they refusedأَنtoيُضَيِّفُوهُمَاoffer them hospitalityفَوَجَدَاThen they foundفِيهَاin itجِدَارًاa wallيُرِيدُ(that) want(ed)أَنtoيَنقَضَّcollapseفَأَقَامَهُۥso he set it straightقَالَHe saidلَوْIfشِئْتَyou wishedلَتَّخَذْتَsurely you (could) have takenعَلَيْهِfor itأَجْرًاa payment77
قَالَHe saidهَٰذَاThisفِرَاقُ(is) partingبَيْنِىbetween meوَبَيْنِكَand between youسَأُنَبِّئُكَI will inform youبِتَأْوِيلِof (the) interpretationمَا(of) whatلَمْnotتَسْتَطِعyou were ableعَّلَيْهِon itصَبْرًا(to have) patience78
أَمَّاAs forٱلسَّفِينَةُthe shipفَكَانَتْit wasلِمَسَٰكِينَof (the) poor peopleيَعْمَلُونَworkingفِىinٱلْبَحْرِthe seaفَأَرَدتُّSo I intendedأَنْthatأَعِيبَهَاI cause defect (in) itوَكَانَ(as there) wasوَرَآءَهُمafter themمَّلِكٌa kingيَأْخُذُwho seizedكُلَّeveryسَفِينَةٍshipغَصْبًا(by) force79
وَأَمَّاAnd as forٱلْغُلَٰمُthe boyفَكَانَhis parents wereأَبَوَاهُhis parents wereمُؤْمِنَيْنِbelieversفَخَشِينَآand we fearedأَنthatيُرْهِقَهُمَاhe would overburden themطُغْيَٰنًا(by) transgressionوَكُفْرًاand disbelief80
فَأَرَدْنَآSo we intendedأَنthatيُبْدِلَهُمَاwould change for themرَبُّهُمَاtheir Lordخَيْرًاa betterمِّنْهُthan himزَكَوٰةً(in) purityوَأَقْرَبَand nearerرُحْمًا(in) affection81
وَأَمَّاAnd as forٱلْجِدَارُthe wallفَكَانَit wasلِغُلَٰمَيْنِfor two orphan boysيَتِيمَيْنِfor two orphan boysفِىinٱلْمَدِينَةِthe townوَكَانَand wasتَحْتَهُۥunderneath itكَنزٌa treasureلَّهُمَاfor themوَكَانَand wasأَبُوهُمَاtheir fatherصَٰلِحًاrighteousفَأَرَادَSo intendedرَبُّكَyour Lordأَنthatيَبْلُغَآthey reachأَشُدَّهُمَاtheir maturityوَيَسْتَخْرِجَاand bring forthكَنزَهُمَاtheir treasureرَحْمَةً(as) a mercyمِّنfromرَّبِّكَyour LordوَمَاAnd notفَعَلْتُهُۥI did itعَنْonأَمْرِىmy (own) accordذَٰلِكَThatتَأْوِيلُ(is the) interpretationمَا(of) whatلَمْnotتَسْطِعyou were ableعَّلَيْهِon itصَبْرًا(to have) patience82
وَيَسْـَٔلُونَكَAnd they ask youعَنaboutذِىDhul-qarnainٱلْقَرْنَيْنِDhul-qarnainقُلْSayسَأَتْلُوا۟I will reciteعَلَيْكُمto youمِّنْهُabout himذِكْرًاa remembrance83
إِنَّاIndeed, Weمَكَّنَّا[We] establishedلَهُۥ[for] himفِىinٱلْأَرْضِthe earthوَءَاتَيْنَٰهُand We gave himمِنofكُلِّeveryشَىْءٍthingسَبَبًاa means84
حَتَّىٰٓUntilإِذَاwhenبَلَغَhe reachedمَغْرِبَ(the) setting placeٱلشَّمْسِ(of) the sunوَجَدَهَاhe found itتَغْرُبُsettingفِىinعَيْنٍa springحَمِئَةٍ(of) dark mudوَوَجَدَand he foundعِندَهَاnear itقَوْمًاa communityقُلْنَاWe saidيَٰذَاO Dhul-qarnainٱلْقَرْنَيْنِO Dhul-qarnainإِمَّآEitherأَن[that]تُعَذِّبَyou punishوَإِمَّآorأَن[that]تَتَّخِذَyou takeفِيهِمْ[in] themحُسْنًا(with) goodness86
قَالَHe saidأَمَّاAs forمَن(one) whoظَلَمَwrongsفَسَوْفَthen soonنُعَذِّبُهُۥwe will punish himثُمَّThenيُرَدُّhe will be returnedإِلَىٰtoرَبِّهِۦhis Lordفَيُعَذِّبُهُۥand He will punish himعَذَابًا(with) a punishmentنُّكْرًاterrible87
وَأَمَّاBut as forمَنْ(one) whoءَامَنَbelievesوَعَمِلَand doesصَٰلِحًاrighteous (deeds)فَلَهُۥthen for himجَزَآءً(is) a rewardٱلْحُسْنَىٰgoodوَسَنَقُولُAnd we will speakلَهُۥto himمِنْfromأَمْرِنَاour commandيُسْرًا(with) ease88
حَتَّىٰٓUntilإِذَاwhenبَلَغَhe reachedمَطْلِعَ(the) rising placeٱلشَّمْسِ(of) the sunوَجَدَهَاand he found itتَطْلُعُrisingعَلَىٰonقَوْمٍa communityلَّمْnotنَجْعَلWe madeلَّهُمfor themمِّنagainst itدُونِهَاagainst itسِتْرًاany shelter90
كَذَٰلِكَThusوَقَدْAnd verilyأَحَطْنَاWe encompassedبِمَاof whatلَدَيْهِ(was) with himخُبْرًا(of the) information91
حَتَّىٰٓUntilإِذَاwhenبَلَغَhe reachedبَيْنَbetweenٱلسَّدَّيْنِthe two mountainsوَجَدَhe foundمِنbesides themدُونِهِمَاbesides themقَوْمًاa communityلَّاnotيَكَادُونَwho would almostيَفْقَهُونَunderstandقَوْلًا(his) speech93
قَالُوا۟They saidيَٰذَاO Dhul-qarnainٱلْقَرْنَيْنِO Dhul-qarnainإِنَّIndeedيَأْجُوجَYajujوَمَأْجُوجَand Majujمُفْسِدُونَ(are) corruptersفِىinٱلْأَرْضِthe landفَهَلْSo mayنَجْعَلُwe makeلَكَfor youخَرْجًاan expenditureعَلَىٰٓ[on]أَنthatتَجْعَلَyou makeبَيْنَنَاbetween usوَبَيْنَهُمْand between themسَدًّاa barrier94
قَالَHe saidمَاWhatمَكَّنِّىhas established meفِيهِ[in it]رَبِّىmy Lordخَيْرٌ(is) betterفَأَعِينُونِىbut assist meبِقُوَّةٍwith strengthأَجْعَلْI will makeبَيْنَكُمْbetween youوَبَيْنَهُمْand between themرَدْمًاa barrier95
ءَاتُونِىBring meزُبَرَsheetsٱلْحَدِيدِ(of) ironحَتَّىٰٓuntilإِذَاwhenسَاوَىٰhe (had) leveledبَيْنَbetweenٱلصَّدَفَيْنِthe two cliffsقَالَhe saidٱنفُخُوا۟Blowحَتَّىٰٓuntilإِذَاwhenجَعَلَهُۥhe made itنَارًاfireقَالَhe saidءَاتُونِىٓBring meأُفْرِغْI pourعَلَيْهِover itقِطْرًاmolten copper96
فَمَاSo notٱسْطَٰعُوٓا۟they were ableأَنtoيَظْهَرُوهُscale itوَمَاand notٱسْتَطَٰعُوا۟they were ableلَهُۥin itنَقْبًا(to do) any penetration97
قَالَHe saidهَٰذَاThisرَحْمَةٌ(is) a mercyمِّنfromرَّبِّىmy LordفَإِذَاBut whenجَآءَcomesوَعْدُ(the) Promiseرَبِّى(of) my LordجَعَلَهُۥHe will make itدَكَّآءَlevelوَكَانَAnd isوَعْدُ(the) Promiseرَبِّى(of) my Lordحَقًّاtrue98
وَتَرَكْنَاAnd We (will) leaveبَعْضَهُمْsome of themيَوْمَئِذٍ(on) that Dayيَمُوجُto surgeفِىoverبَعْضٍothersوَنُفِخَand (will be) blownفِىinٱلصُّورِthe trumpetفَجَمَعْنَٰهُمْthen We (will) gather themجَمْعًاall together99
وَعَرَضْنَاAnd We (will) presentجَهَنَّمَHellيَوْمَئِذٍ(on) that Dayلِّلْكَٰفِرِينَto the disbelieversعَرْضًا(on) display100
ٱلَّذِينَThoseكَانَتْhad beenأَعْيُنُهُمْtheir eyesفِىwithinغِطَآءٍa coverعَنfromذِكْرِىMy remembranceوَكَانُوا۟and wereلَاnotيَسْتَطِيعُونَableسَمْعًا(to) hear101
أَفَحَسِبَDo then thinkٱلَّذِينَthose whoكَفَرُوٓا۟disbelieveأَنthatيَتَّخِذُوا۟they (can) takeعِبَادِىMy servantsمِنbesides Meدُونِىٓbesides Meأَوْلِيَآءَ(as) protectorsإِنَّآIndeed, We أَعْتَدْنَاWe have preparedجَهَنَّمَHellلِلْكَٰفِرِينَfor the disbelieversنُزُلًا(as) a lodging102
قُلْSayهَلْShallنُنَبِّئُكُمWe inform youبِٱلْأَخْسَرِينَof the greatest losersأَعْمَٰلًا(as to their) deeds103
ٱلَّذِينَThose ضَلَّis lostسَعْيُهُمْtheir effortفِىinٱلْحَيَوٰةِthe lifeٱلدُّنْيَا(of) the worldوَهُمْwhile theyيَحْسَبُونَthinkأَنَّهُمْthat theyيُحْسِنُونَ(were) acquiring goodصُنْعًا(in) work104
أُو۟لَٰٓئِكَThoseٱلَّذِينَ(are) the ones whoكَفَرُوا۟disbelieveبِـَٔايَٰتِin the Versesرَبِّهِمْ(of) their Lordوَلِقَآئِهِۦand the meeting (with) HimفَحَبِطَتْSo (are) vainأَعْمَٰلُهُمْtheir deedsفَلَاso notنُقِيمُWe will assignلَهُمْfor themيَوْمَ(on) the Dayٱلْقِيَٰمَةِ(of) the Resurrectionوَزْنًاany weight105
ذَٰلِكَThatجَزَآؤُهُمْ(is) their recompense جَهَنَّمُHell بِمَاbecauseكَفَرُوا۟they disbelievedوَٱتَّخَذُوٓا۟and tookءَايَٰتِىMy Versesوَرُسُلِىand My Messengersهُزُوًا(in) ridicule106
إِنَّIndeedٱلَّذِينَthose whoءَامَنُوا۟believedوَعَمِلُوا۟and didٱلصَّٰلِحَٰتِrighteous deedsكَانَتْfor them will beلَهُمْfor them will beجَنَّٰتُGardensٱلْفِرْدَوْسِ(of) the Paradiseنُزُلًا(as) a lodging107
خَٰلِدِينَAbiding foreverفِيهَاin itلَاNotيَبْغُونَthey will desireعَنْهَاfrom itحِوَلًاany transfer108
قُلSayلَّوْIfكَانَwereٱلْبَحْرُthe seaمِدَادًاinkلِّكَلِمَٰتِfor (the) Wordsرَبِّى(of) my Lordلَنَفِدَsurely (would be) exhaustedٱلْبَحْرُthe seaقَبْلَbeforeأَن[that]تَنفَدَ(were) exhaustedكَلِمَٰتُ(the) Wordsرَبِّى(of) my Lordوَلَوْeven ifجِئْنَاWe broughtبِمِثْلِهِۦ(the) like (of) itمَدَدًا(as) a supplement109
قُلْSayإِنَّمَآOnlyأَنَاIبَشَرٌ(am) a manمِّثْلُكُمْlike youيُوحَىٰٓHas been revealedإِلَىَّto meأَنَّمَآthatإِلَٰهُكُمْyour Godإِلَٰهٌ(is) GodوَٰحِدٌOneفَمَنSo whoeverكَانَisيَرْجُوا۟hopingلِقَآءَ(for the) meetingرَبِّهِۦ(with) his Lordفَلْيَعْمَلْlet him doعَمَلًاdeedsصَٰلِحًاrighteousوَلَاand notيُشْرِكْassociateبِعِبَادَةِin (the) worshipرَبِّهِۦٓ(of) his Lordأَحَدًۢاanyone110

وَإِنِّىAnd indeed, Iخِفْتُ[I] fearٱلْمَوَٰلِىَthe successorsمِنafter meوَرَآءِىafter meوَكَانَتِand isٱمْرَأَتِىmy wifeعَاقِرًاbarrenفَهَبْSo giveلِى[to] meمِنfromلَّدُنكَYourselfوَلِيًّاan heir5
يَرِثُنِىWho will inherit meوَيَرِثُand inheritمِنْfromءَالِ(the) familyيَعْقُوبَ(of) YaqubوَٱجْعَلْهُAnd make himرَبِّmy Lordرَضِيًّاpleasing6
يَٰزَكَرِيَّآO ZakariyaإِنَّاIndeed, Weنُبَشِّرُكَ[We] give you glad tidingsبِغُلَٰمٍof a boyٱسْمُهُۥhis nameيَحْيَىٰ(will be) YahyaلَمْnotنَجْعَلWe (have) assignedلَّهُۥ[for] itمِنbeforeقَبْلُbeforeسَمِيًّا(this) name7
قَالَHe saidرَبِّMy LordأَنَّىٰHowيَكُونُcanلِىI haveغُلَٰمٌa boyوَكَانَتِwhile isٱمْرَأَتِىmy wifeعَاقِرًاbarrenوَقَدْand indeedبَلَغْتُI have reachedمِنَofٱلْكِبَرِthe old ageعِتِيًّاextreme8
قَالَHe saidكَذَٰلِكَThusقَالَsaidرَبُّكَyour Lordهُوَ'Itعَلَىَّ(is) easy for Meهَيِّنٌ(is) easy for Meوَقَدْand certainlyخَلَقْتُكَI (have) created youمِنbeforeقَبْلُbeforeوَلَمْwhile notتَكُyou wereشَيْـًٔاanything.'9
قَالَHe saidرَبِّMy LordٱجْعَلMakeلِّىٓfor meءَايَةًa signقَالَHe saidءَايَتُكَYour signأَلَّا(is) that notتُكَلِّمَyou will speakٱلنَّاسَ(to) the peopleثَلَٰثَ(for) threeلَيَالٍnightsسَوِيًّاsound10
فَخَرَجَThen he came outعَلَىٰtoقَوْمِهِۦhis peopleمِنَfromٱلْمِحْرَابِthe prayer chamberفَأَوْحَىٰٓand he signaledإِلَيْهِمْto themأَنtoسَبِّحُوا۟glorify (Allah)بُكْرَةً(in) the morningوَعَشِيًّاand (in) the evening11
يَٰيَحْيَىٰO YahyaخُذِHoldٱلْكِتَٰبَthe Scriptureبِقُوَّةٍwith strengthوَءَاتَيْنَٰهُAnd We gave himٱلْحُكْمَ[the] wisdomصَبِيًّا(when he was) a child12
وَبَرًّۢاAnd dutifulبِوَٰلِدَيْهِto his parentsوَلَمْand notيَكُنhe wasجَبَّارًاa tyrantعَصِيًّاdisobedient14
وَسَلَٰمٌAnd peace beعَلَيْهِupon himيَوْمَ(the) dayوُلِدَhe was bornوَيَوْمَand (the) dayيَمُوتُhe diesوَيَوْمَand (the) dayيُبْعَثُhe will be raisedحَيًّاalive15
وَٱذْكُرْAnd mentionفِىinٱلْكِتَٰبِthe BookمَرْيَمَMaryamإِذِwhenٱنتَبَذَتْshe withdrewمِنْfromأَهْلِهَاher familyمَكَانًا(to) a placeشَرْقِيًّاeastern16
فَٱتَّخَذَتْThen she tookمِنfrom themدُونِهِمْfrom themحِجَابًاa screenفَأَرْسَلْنَآThen We sentإِلَيْهَاto herرُوحَنَاOur Spiritفَتَمَثَّلَthen he assumed for her the likenessلَهَاthen he assumed for her the likenessبَشَرًا(of) a manسَوِيًّاwell-proportioned17
قَالَتْShe saidإِنِّىٓIndeed, Iأَعُوذُ[I] seek refugeبِٱلرَّحْمَٰنِwith the Most Graciousمِنكَfrom youإِنifكُنتَyou areتَقِيًّاGod fearing18
قَالَHe saidإِنَّمَآOnlyأَنَاI amرَسُولُa Messengerرَبِّكِ(from) your Lordلِأَهَبَthat I (may) bestowلَكِon youغُلَٰمًاa sonزَكِيًّاpure19
قَالَتْShe saidأَنَّىٰHowيَكُونُcan beلِىfor meغُلَٰمٌa sonوَلَمْwhen notيَمْسَسْنِىhas touched meبَشَرٌa manوَلَمْand notأَكُI amبَغِيًّاunchaste20
قَالَHe saidكَذَٰلِكِThusقَالَsaidرَبُّكِyour Lordهُوَ'Itعَلَىَّ(is) for Meهَيِّنٌeasyوَلِنَجْعَلَهُۥٓand so that We will make himءَايَةًa signلِّلنَّاسِfor the mankindوَرَحْمَةًand a Mercyمِّنَّاfrom UsوَكَانَAnd (it) isأَمْرًاa matterمَّقْضِيًّاdecreed.'21
فَحَمَلَتْهُSo she conceived himفَٱنتَبَذَتْand she withdrewبِهِۦwith himمَكَانًا(to) a placeقَصِيًّاremote22
فَأَجَآءَهَاThen drove herٱلْمَخَاضُthe pains of childbirthإِلَىٰtoجِذْعِ(the) trunkٱلنَّخْلَةِ(of) the date-palmقَالَتْShe saidيَٰلَيْتَنِىO! I wishمِتُّI (had) diedقَبْلَbeforeهَٰذَاthisوَكُنتُand I wasنَسْيًا(in) oblivionمَّنسِيًّاforgotten23
فَنَادَىٰهَاSo cried to herمِنfromتَحْتِهَآbeneath herأَلَّاThat (do) notتَحْزَنِىgrieveقَدْverilyجَعَلَ(has) placedرَبُّكِyour Lordتَحْتَكِbeneath youسَرِيًّاa stream24
وَهُزِّىٓAnd shakeإِلَيْكِtowards youبِجِذْعِ(the) trunkٱلنَّخْلَةِ(of) the date-palmتُسَٰقِطْit will dropعَلَيْكِupon youرُطَبًاfresh datesجَنِيًّاripe25
فَكُلِىSo eatوَٱشْرَبِىand drinkوَقَرِّىand coolعَيْنًا(your) eyesفَإِمَّاAnd ifتَرَيِنَّyou seeمِنَfromٱلْبَشَرِhuman beingأَحَدًاanyoneفَقُولِىٓthen sayإِنِّىIndeed, Iنَذَرْتُ[I] have vowedلِلرَّحْمَٰنِto the Most Graciousصَوْمًاa fastفَلَنْso notأُكَلِّمَI will speakٱلْيَوْمَtodayإِنسِيًّا(to any) human being26
فَأَتَتْThen she cameبِهِۦwith himقَوْمَهَا(to) her peopleتَحْمِلُهُۥcarrying himقَالُوا۟They saidيَٰمَرْيَمُO MaryamلَقَدْCertainlyجِئْتِyou (have) broughtشَيْـًٔاan amazing thingفَرِيًّاan amazing thing27
يَٰٓأُخْتَO sisterهَٰرُونَ(of) HarunمَاNotكَانَwasأَبُوكِyour fatherٱمْرَأَan evil manسَوْءٍan evil manوَمَاand notكَانَتْwasأُمُّكِyour motherبَغِيًّاunchaste28
فَأَشَارَتْThen she pointedإِلَيْهِto himقَالُوا۟They saidكَيْفَHowنُكَلِّمُ(can) we speakمَن(to one) whoكَانَisفِىinٱلْمَهْدِthe cradleصَبِيًّاa child29
قَالَHe saidإِنِّىIndeed, I amعَبْدُa slaveٱللَّهِ(of) AllahءَاتَىٰنِىَHe gave meٱلْكِتَٰبَthe Scriptureوَجَعَلَنِىand made meنَبِيًّاa Prophet30
وَجَعَلَنِىAnd He (has) made meمُبَارَكًاblessedأَيْنَwhereverمَاwhereverكُنتُI amوَأَوْصَٰنِىand has enjoined (on) meبِٱلصَّلَوٰةِ[of] the prayerوَٱلزَّكَوٰةِand zakahمَاas long as I amدُمْتُas long as I amحَيًّاalive31
وَبَرًّۢاAnd dutifulبِوَٰلِدَتِىto my motherوَلَمْand notيَجْعَلْنِىHe (has) made meجَبَّارًاinsolentشَقِيًّاunblessed32
وَٱلسَّلَٰمُAnd peace (be)عَلَىَّon meيَوْمَ(the) dayوُلِدتُّI was bornوَيَوْمَand (the) dayأَمُوتُI will dieوَيَوْمَand (the) DayأُبْعَثُI will be raisedحَيًّاalive33
ذَٰلِكَThatعِيسَى(was) Isaٱبْنُ(the) sonمَرْيَمَ(of) Maryamقَوْلَa statementٱلْحَقِّ(of) truthٱلَّذِىthat whichفِيهِabout itيَمْتَرُونَthey dispute34
مَاNotكَانَ(it) isلِلَّهِfor AllahأَنthatيَتَّخِذَHe should takeمِنany sonوَلَدٍany sonسُبْحَٰنَهُۥٓGlory be to HimإِذَاWhenقَضَىٰٓHe decreesأَمْرًاa matterفَإِنَّمَاthen onlyيَقُولُHe saysلَهُۥto itكُنBeفَيَكُونُand it is35
وَإِنَّAnd indeedٱللَّهَAllahرَبِّى(is) my Lordوَرَبُّكُمْand your Lordفَٱعْبُدُوهُso worship HimهَٰذَاThisصِرَٰطٌ(is) a pathمُّسْتَقِيمٌstraight36
فَٱخْتَلَفَBut differedٱلْأَحْزَابُthe sectsمِنۢfrom among themبَيْنِهِمْfrom among themفَوَيْلٌso woeلِّلَّذِينَto those whoكَفَرُوا۟disbelieveمِنfromمَّشْهَدِ(the) witnessingيَوْمٍ(of) a Dayعَظِيمٍgreat37
أَسْمِعْHow they will hearبِهِمْHow they will hearوَأَبْصِرْand how (they will) seeيَوْمَ(the) Dayيَأْتُونَنَاthey will come to Usلَٰكِنِbutٱلظَّٰلِمُونَthe wrongdoersٱلْيَوْمَtodayفِى(are) inضَلَٰلٍerrorمُّبِينٍclear38
وَأَنذِرْهُمْAnd warn themيَوْمَ(of the) Dayٱلْحَسْرَةِ(of) the Regretإِذْwhenقُضِىَhas been decidedٱلْأَمْرُthe matterوَهُمْAnd theyفِى(are) inغَفْلَةٍheedlessnessوَهُمْand theyلَا(do) notيُؤْمِنُونَbelieve39
إِنَّاIndeed, Weنَحْنُ[We]نَرِثُ[We] will inheritٱلْأَرْضَthe earthوَمَنْand whoeverعَلَيْهَا(is) on itوَإِلَيْنَاand to Usيُرْجَعُونَthey will be returned40
وَٱذْكُرْAnd mentionفِىinٱلْكِتَٰبِthe BookإِبْرَٰهِيمَIbrahimإِنَّهُۥIndeed, heكَانَwasصِدِّيقًاa man of truthنَّبِيًّاa Prophet41
إِذْWhenقَالَhe saidلِأَبِيهِto his fatherيَٰٓأَبَتِO my fatherلِمَWhyتَعْبُدُ(do) you worshipمَاthat whichلَاnotيَسْمَعُhearsوَلَاand notيُبْصِرُseesوَلَاand notيُغْنِىbenefitsعَنكَ[to] youشَيْـًٔا(in) anything42
يَٰٓأَبَتِO my fatherإِنِّىIndeed, [I]قَدْverilyجَآءَنِى(has) come to meمِنَofٱلْعِلْمِthe knowledgeمَاwhatلَمْnotيَأْتِكَcame to youفَٱتَّبِعْنِىٓso follow meأَهْدِكَI will guide youصِرَٰطًا(to) the pathسَوِيًّاeven43
يَٰٓأَبَتِO my fatherلَا(Do) notتَعْبُدِworshipٱلشَّيْطَٰنَthe ShaitaanإِنَّIndeedٱلشَّيْطَٰنَthe Shaitaanكَانَisلِلرَّحْمَٰنِto the Most Graciousعَصِيًّاdisobedient44
يَٰٓأَبَتِO my fatherإِنِّىٓIndeed, Iأَخَافُ[I] fearأَنthatيَمَسَّكَwill touch youعَذَابٌa punishmentمِّنَfromٱلرَّحْمَٰنِthe Most Graciousفَتَكُونَso you would beلِلشَّيْطَٰنِto the Shaitaanوَلِيًّاa friend45
قَالَHe saidأَرَاغِبٌDo you hateأَنتَDo you hateعَنْ(from)ءَالِهَتِىmy godsيَٰٓإِبْرَٰهِيمُO IbrahimلَئِنSurely, ifلَّمْnotتَنتَهِyou desistلَأَرْجُمَنَّكَsurely, I will stone youوَٱهْجُرْنِىso leave meمَلِيًّا(for) a prolonged time46
قَالَHe saidسَلَٰمٌPeace (be)عَلَيْكَon youسَأَسْتَغْفِرُI will ask forgivenessلَكَfor youرَبِّىٓ(from) my LordإِنَّهُۥIndeed, Heكَانَisبِىto meحَفِيًّاEver Gracious47
وَأَعْتَزِلُكُمْAnd I will leave youوَمَاand whatتَدْعُونَyou invokeمِنbesidesدُونِbesidesٱللَّهِAllahوَأَدْعُوا۟and I will invokeرَبِّىmy LordعَسَىٰٓMay beأَلَّآthat notأَكُونَI will beبِدُعَآءِin invocationرَبِّى(to) my Lordشَقِيًّاunblessed48
فَلَمَّاSo whenٱعْتَزَلَهُمْhe left themوَمَاand whatيَعْبُدُونَthey worshippedمِنbesides Allahدُونِbesides Allahٱللَّهِbesides Allahوَهَبْنَا[and] We bestowedلَهُۥٓ[to] himإِسْحَٰقَIsaacوَيَعْقُوبَand Yaqubوَكُلًّاand each (of them)جَعَلْنَاWe madeنَبِيًّاa Prophet49
وَوَهَبْنَاAnd We bestowedلَهُمto themمِّنofرَّحْمَتِنَاOur Mercyوَجَعَلْنَاand We madeلَهُمْfor themلِسَانَa truthful mentionصِدْقٍa truthful mentionعَلِيًّاhigh50
وَٱذْكُرْAnd mentionفِىinٱلْكِتَٰبِthe BookمُوسَىٰٓMusaإِنَّهُۥIndeed, heكَانَwasمُخْلَصًاchosenوَكَانَand wasرَسُولًاa Messengerنَّبِيًّاa Prophet51
وَنَٰدَيْنَٰهُAnd We called himمِنfromجَانِبِ(the) sideٱلطُّورِ(of) the Mountٱلْأَيْمَنِthe rightوَقَرَّبْنَٰهُand brought him nearنَجِيًّا(for) conversation52
وَوَهَبْنَاAnd We bestowedلَهُۥ[to] himمِنfromرَّحْمَتِنَآOur Mercyأَخَاهُhis brotherهَٰرُونَHarunنَبِيًّاa Prophet53
وَٱذْكُرْAnd mentionفِىinٱلْكِتَٰبِthe BookإِسْمَٰعِيلَIshmaelإِنَّهُۥIndeed, heكَانَwasصَادِقَtrueٱلْوَعْدِ(to his) promiseوَكَانَand wasرَسُولًاa Messenger نَّبِيًّاa Prophet54
وَكَانَAnd he usedيَأْمُرُ(to) enjoinأَهْلَهُۥ(on) his peopleبِٱلصَّلَوٰةِthe prayerوَٱلزَّكَوٰةِand zakahوَكَانَand wasعِندَnearرَبِّهِۦhis Lordمَرْضِيًّاpleasing55
وَٱذْكُرْAnd mentionفِىinٱلْكِتَٰبِthe BookإِدْرِيسَIdrisإِنَّهُۥIndeed, heكَانَwasصِدِّيقًاtruthfulنَّبِيًّاa Prophet56
أُو۟لَٰٓئِكَThoseٱلَّذِينَ(were) the ones whomأَنْعَمَAllah bestowed favorٱللَّهُAllah bestowed favorعَلَيْهِمupon themمِّنَfrom (among)ٱلنَّبِيِّۦنَthe Prophetsمِنofذُرِّيَّةِ(the) offspringءَادَمَ(of) Adamوَمِمَّنْand of thoseحَمَلْنَاWe carriedمَعَwithنُوحٍNuhوَمِنand ofذُرِّيَّةِ(the) offspringإِبْرَٰهِيمَ(of) Ibrahimوَإِسْرَٰٓءِيلَand Israelوَمِمَّنْand of (those) whomهَدَيْنَاWe guidedوَٱجْتَبَيْنَآand We choseإِذَاWhenتُتْلَىٰwere recitedعَلَيْهِمْto themءَايَٰتُ(the) Versesٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ(of) the Most Graciousخَرُّوا۟they fellسُجَّدًاprostratingوَبُكِيًّاand weeping58
فَخَلَفَThen succeededمِنۢafter themبَعْدِهِمْafter themخَلْفٌsuccessorsأَضَاعُوا۟who neglectedٱلصَّلَوٰةَthe prayerوَٱتَّبَعُوا۟and they followedٱلشَّهَوَٰتِthe lustsفَسَوْفَso soonيَلْقَوْنَthey will meetغَيًّاevil59
إِلَّاExceptمَن(one) whoتَابَrepentedوَءَامَنَand believedوَعَمِلَand didصَٰلِحًاgood (deeds)فَأُو۟لَٰٓئِكَThen thoseيَدْخُلُونَwill enterٱلْجَنَّةَParadiseوَلَاand notيُظْلَمُونَthey will be wrongedشَيْـًٔا(in) anything60
جَنَّٰتِGardensعَدْنٍ(of) Edenٱلَّتِىwhichوَعَدَpromisedٱلرَّحْمَٰنُthe Most Graciousعِبَادَهُۥ(to) His slavesبِٱلْغَيْبِin the unseenإِنَّهُۥIndeed, [it]كَانَisوَعْدُهُۥHis promiseمَأْتِيًّاsure to come61
لَّاNotيَسْمَعُونَthey will hearفِيهَاthereinلَغْوًاvain talkإِلَّاbutسَلَٰمًاpeaceوَلَهُمْAnd for themرِزْقُهُمْ(is) their provisionفِيهَاthereinبُكْرَةًmorningوَعَشِيًّاand evening62
تِلْكَThisٱلْجَنَّةُ(is) ParadiseٱلَّتِىwhichنُورِثُWe give (as) inheritanceمِنْ[of] (to)عِبَادِنَاOur slavesمَن(the one) whoكَانَisتَقِيًّاrighteous63
وَمَاAnd notنَتَنَزَّلُwe descendإِلَّاexceptبِأَمْرِby (the) Commandرَبِّكَ(of) your LordلَهُۥTo Him (belongs)مَاwhatبَيْنَ(is) before usأَيْدِينَا(is) before usوَمَاand whatخَلْفَنَا(is) behind usوَمَاand whatبَيْنَ(is) betweenذَٰلِكَthatوَمَاAnd notكَانَisرَبُّكَyour Lordنَسِيًّاforgetful64
رَّبُّLordٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ(of) the heavensوَٱلْأَرْضِand the earthوَمَاand whateverبَيْنَهُمَا(is) between both of themفَٱعْبُدْهُso worship Himوَٱصْطَبِرْand be constantلِعِبَٰدَتِهِۦin His worshipهَلْDoتَعْلَمُyou knowلَهُۥfor Himسَمِيًّاany similarity65
وَيَقُولُAnd saysٱلْإِنسَٰنُ[the] manأَءِذَاWhat! WhenمَاWhat! WhenمِتُّI am deadلَسَوْفَsurely willأُخْرَجُI be brought forthحَيًّاalive66
أَوَلَاDoes notيَذْكُرُrememberٱلْإِنسَٰنُ[the] manأَنَّاthat WeخَلَقْنَٰهُWe created himمِنbeforeقَبْلُbeforeوَلَمْwhile notيَكُhe wasشَيْـًٔاanything67
فَوَرَبِّكَSo by your Lordلَنَحْشُرَنَّهُمْsurely, We will gather themوَٱلشَّيَٰطِينَand the devilsثُمَّthenلَنُحْضِرَنَّهُمْsurely, We will bring themحَوْلَaroundجَهَنَّمَHellجِثِيًّاbent (on) knees68
ثُمَّThenلَنَنزِعَنَّsurely, We will drag outمِنfromكُلِّeveryشِيعَةٍsectأَيُّهُمْthose of themأَشَدُّ(who were) worstعَلَىagainstٱلرَّحْمَٰنِthe Most Graciousعِتِيًّا(in) rebellion69
ثُمَّThenلَنَحْنُsurely, Weأَعْلَمُknow bestبِٱلَّذِينَ[of] those whoهُمْ[they]أَوْلَىٰ(are) most worthyبِهَاthereinصِلِيًّا(of) being burnt70
وَإِنAnd (there is) notمِّنكُمْ(any) of youإِلَّاbutوَارِدُهَا(will be) passing over itكَانَ(This) isعَلَىٰuponرَبِّكَyour Lordحَتْمًاan inevitabilityمَّقْضِيًّاdecreed71
ثُمَّThenنُنَجِّىWe will deliverٱلَّذِينَthose whoٱتَّقَوا۟feared (Allah)وَّنَذَرُand We will leaveٱلظَّٰلِمِينَthe wrongdoersفِيهَاthereinجِثِيًّاbent (on) knees72
وَإِذَاAnd whenتُتْلَىٰare recitedعَلَيْهِمْto themءَايَٰتُنَاOur Versesبَيِّنَٰتٍclearقَالَsayٱلَّذِينَthose whoكَفَرُوا۟disbelievedلِلَّذِينَto those whoءَامَنُوٓا۟believedأَىُّWhichٱلْفَرِيقَيْنِ(of) the two groupsخَيْرٌ(is) betterمَّقَامًا(in) positionوَأَحْسَنُand bestنَدِيًّا(in) assembly73
وَكَمْAnd how manyأَهْلَكْنَاWe destroyedقَبْلَهُمbefore themمِّنofقَرْنٍa generation هُمْtheyأَحْسَنُ(were) betterأَثَٰثًا(in) possessionsوَرِءْيًاand appearance74
قُلْSayمَنWhoeverكَانَisفِىinٱلضَّلَٰلَةِ[the] errorفَلْيَمْدُدْthen surely will extendلَهُfor himٱلرَّحْمَٰنُthe Most Graciousمَدًّاan extensionحَتَّىٰٓuntilإِذَاwhenرَأَوْا۟they seeمَاwhatيُوعَدُونَthey were promisedإِمَّاeitherٱلْعَذَابَthe punishmentوَإِمَّاorٱلسَّاعَةَthe Hourفَسَيَعْلَمُونَthen they will knowمَنْwhoهُوَ[he]شَرٌّ(is) worstمَّكَانًا(in) positionوَأَضْعَفُand weakerجُندًا(in) forces75
وَيَزِيدُAnd Allah increasesٱللَّهُAnd Allah increasesٱلَّذِينَthose whoٱهْتَدَوْا۟accept guidanceهُدًى(in) guidanceوَٱلْبَٰقِيَٰتُAnd the everlastingٱلصَّٰلِحَٰتُgood deedsخَيْرٌ(are) betterعِندَnearرَبِّكَyour Lordثَوَابًا(for) rewardوَخَيْرٌand betterمَّرَدًّا(for) return76
أَفَرَءَيْتَThen, have you seenٱلَّذِىhe whoكَفَرَdisbelievedبِـَٔايَٰتِنَاin Our Versesوَقَالَand saidلَأُوتَيَنَّSurely, I will be givenمَالًاwealthوَوَلَدًاand children77
أَطَّلَعَHas he lookedٱلْغَيْبَ(into) the unseenأَمِorٱتَّخَذَhas he takenعِندَfromٱلرَّحْمَٰنِthe Most Graciousعَهْدًاa promise78
كَلَّاNayسَنَكْتُبُWe will recordمَاwhatيَقُولُhe saysوَنَمُدُّand We will extendلَهُۥfor himمِنَfromٱلْعَذَابِthe punishmentمَدًّاextensively79
وَنَرِثُهُۥAnd We will inherit (from) himمَاwhatيَقُولُhe saysوَيَأْتِينَاand he will come to Usفَرْدًاalone80
وَٱتَّخَذُوا۟And they have takenمِنbesides Allahدُونِbesides Allahٱللَّهِbesides Allahءَالِهَةًgodsلِّيَكُونُوا۟that they may beلَهُمْfor themعِزًّاan honor81
كَلَّاNayسَيَكْفُرُونَthey will denyبِعِبَادَتِهِمْtheir worship (of them)وَيَكُونُونَand they will beعَلَيْهِمْagainst themضِدًّاopponents82
أَلَمْDo notتَرَyou seeأَنَّآthat Weأَرْسَلْنَا[We] have sentٱلشَّيَٰطِينَthe devilsعَلَىuponٱلْكَٰفِرِينَthe disbelieversتَؤُزُّهُمْinciting themأَزًّا(with) incitement83
فَلَاSo (do) notتَعْجَلْmake hasteعَلَيْهِمْagainst themإِنَّمَاOnlyنَعُدُّWe countلَهُمْfor themعَدًّاa number84
يَوْمَ(The) DayنَحْشُرُWe will gatherٱلْمُتَّقِينَthe righteousإِلَىtoٱلرَّحْمَٰنِthe Most Graciousوَفْدًا(as) a delegation85
لَّاNotيَمْلِكُونَthey will have the powerٱلشَّفَٰعَةَ(of) the intercessionإِلَّاexceptمَنِ(he) whoٱتَّخَذَhas takenعِندَfromٱلرَّحْمَٰنِthe Most Graciousعَهْدًاa covenant87
تَكَادُAlmostٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتُthe heavensيَتَفَطَّرْنَget tornمِنْهُtherefromوَتَنشَقُّand splits asunderٱلْأَرْضُthe earthوَتَخِرُّand collapseٱلْجِبَالُthe mountainهَدًّا(in) devastation90
وَمَاAnd notيَنۢبَغِىis appropriateلِلرَّحْمَٰنِfor the Most GraciousأَنthatيَتَّخِذَHe should takeوَلَدًاa son92
إِنNotكُلُّallمَنwhoفِى(are) inٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِthe heavensوَٱلْأَرْضِand the earthإِلَّآbutءَاتِى(will) comeٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ(to) the Most Graciousعَبْدًا(as) a slave93
وَكُلُّهُمْAnd all of themءَاتِيهِ(will) come (to) Himيَوْمَ(on the) Dayٱلْقِيَٰمَةِ(of) the Resurrectionفَرْدًاalone95
إِنَّIndeedٱلَّذِينَthose whoءَامَنُوا۟believedوَعَمِلُوا۟and didٱلصَّٰلِحَٰتِgood deedsسَيَجْعَلُwill bestowلَهُمُfor themٱلرَّحْمَٰنُthe Most Graciousوُدًّاaffection96
فَإِنَّمَاSo, onlyيَسَّرْنَٰهُWe (have) made it easyبِلِسَانِكَin your tongueلِتُبَشِّرَthat you may give glad tidingsبِهِwith itٱلْمُتَّقِينَ(to) the righteousوَتُنذِرَand warnبِهِۦwith itقَوْمًاa peopleلُّدًّاhostile97
وَكَمْAnd how manyأَهْلَكْنَاWe (have) destroyedقَبْلَهُمbefore themمِّنofقَرْنٍa generationهَلْCanتُحِسُّyou perceiveمِنْهُمof themمِّنْanyأَحَدٍoneأَوْorتَسْمَعُhearلَهُمْfrom themرِكْزًۢاa sound98

مَآNotأَنزَلْنَاWe (have) sent downعَلَيْكَto youٱلْقُرْءَانَthe Quranلِتَشْقَىٰٓthat you be distressed2
تَنزِيلًاA revelationمِّمَّنْfrom (He) Whoخَلَقَcreatedٱلْأَرْضَthe earthوَٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِand the heavensٱلْعُلَى[the] high4
لَهُۥTo Him (belongs)مَاwhateverفِى(is) inٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِthe heavensوَمَاand whateverفِى(is) inٱلْأَرْضِthe earthوَمَاand whateverبَيْنَهُمَا(is) between themوَمَاand whateverتَحْتَ(is) underٱلثَّرَىٰthe soil6
وَإِنAnd ifتَجْهَرْyou speak aloudبِٱلْقَوْلِthe wordفَإِنَّهُۥthen indeed, Heيَعْلَمُknowsٱلسِّرَّthe secretوَأَخْفَىand the more hidden7
ٱللَّهُAllah لَآ(there is) noإِلَٰهَgodإِلَّاexceptهُوَHimلَهُTo Him (belong)ٱلْأَسْمَآءُthe Namesٱلْحُسْنَىٰthe Most Beautiful8
إِذْWhenرَءَاhe sawنَارًاa fireفَقَالَthen he saidلِأَهْلِهِto his familyٱمْكُثُوٓا۟Stay hereإِنِّىٓindeed, Iءَانَسْتُ[I] perceivedنَارًاa fireلَّعَلِّىٓperhaps I (can)ءَاتِيكُمbring youمِّنْهَاtherefromبِقَبَسٍa burning brandأَوْorأَجِدُI findعَلَىatٱلنَّارِthe fireهُدًىguidance10
إِنِّىٓIndeed, [I]أَنَاI Amرَبُّكَyour Lordفَٱخْلَعْso removeنَعْلَيْكَyour shoesإِنَّكَIndeed, youبِٱلْوَادِ(are) in the valleyٱلْمُقَدَّسِthe sacredطُوًى(of) Tuwa12
إِنَّنِىٓIndeed, [I]أَنَاI AmٱللَّهُAllahلَآ(There is) noإِلَٰهَgodإِلَّآbutأَنَاIفَٱعْبُدْنِىso worship Meوَأَقِمِand establishٱلصَّلَوٰةَthe prayerلِذِكْرِىٓfor My remembrance14
إِنَّIndeedٱلسَّاعَةَthe Hourءَاتِيَةٌ(will be) comingأَكَادُI almostأُخْفِيهَا[I] hide itلِتُجْزَىٰthat may be recompensedكُلُّeveryنَفْسٍۢsoulبِمَاfor whatتَسْعَىٰit strives15
فَلَاSo (do) notيَصُدَّنَّكَ(let) avert youعَنْهَاfrom itمَن(one) whoلَّا(does) notيُؤْمِنُbelieveبِهَاin itوَٱتَّبَعَand followsهَوَىٰهُhis desiresفَتَرْدَىٰlest you perish16
قَالَHe saidهِىَItعَصَاىَ(is) my staffأَتَوَكَّؤُا۟I leanعَلَيْهَاupon itوَأَهُشُّand I bring down leavesبِهَاwith itعَلَىٰforغَنَمِىmy sheepوَلِىَand for meفِيهَاin itمَـَٔارِبُ(are) usesأُخْرَىٰother18
قَالَHe saidخُذْهَاSeize itوَلَاand (do) notتَخَفْfearسَنُعِيدُهَاWe will return itسِيرَتَهَا(to) its stateٱلْأُولَىٰthe former21
وَٱضْمُمْAnd draw nearيَدَكَyour handإِلَىٰtoجَنَاحِكَyour sideتَخْرُجْit will come outبَيْضَآءَwhiteمِنْwithout anyغَيْرِwithout anyسُوٓءٍdiseaseءَايَةً(as) a signأُخْرَىٰanother22
وَلَقَدْAnd indeedمَنَنَّاWe conferred a favorعَلَيْكَon youمَرَّةًanother timeأُخْرَىٰٓanother time37
أَنِThatٱقْذِفِيهِcast himفِىinٱلتَّابُوتِthe chestفَٱقْذِفِيهِthen cast itفِىinٱلْيَمِّthe riverفَلْيُلْقِهِthen let cast itٱلْيَمُّthe riverبِٱلسَّاحِلِon the bankيَأْخُذْهُwill take himعَدُوٌّan enemyلِّىto Meوَعَدُوٌّand an enemyلَّهُۥto himوَأَلْقَيْتُAnd I castعَلَيْكَover youمَحَبَّةًloveمِّنِّىfrom Meوَلِتُصْنَعَand that you may be brought upعَلَىٰunderعَيْنِىٓMy eye39
إِذْWhenتَمْشِىٓwas goingأُخْتُكَyour sisterفَتَقُولُand she saidهَلْShallأَدُلُّكُمْI show youعَلَىٰ[to]مَن(one) whoيَكْفُلُهُۥwill nurse and rear himفَرَجَعْنَٰكَSo We returned youإِلَىٰٓtoأُمِّكَyour motherكَىْthatتَقَرَّmay be cooledعَيْنُهَاher eyesوَلَاand notتَحْزَنَshe grievesوَقَتَلْتَAnd you killedنَفْسًاa manفَنَجَّيْنَٰكَbut We saved youمِنَfromٱلْغَمِّthe distressوَفَتَنَّٰكَand We tried youفُتُونًا(with) a trialفَلَبِثْتَThen you remainedسِنِينَ(some) yearsفِىٓwithأَهْلِ(the) peopleمَدْيَنَ(of) MadyanثُمَّThenجِئْتَyou cameعَلَىٰatقَدَرٍthe decreed (time)يَٰمُوسَىٰO Musa40
ٱذْهَبْGoأَنتَyouوَأَخُوكَand your brotherبِـَٔايَٰتِىwith My Signsوَلَاand (do) notتَنِيَاslackenفِىinذِكْرِىMy remembrance42
فَقُولَاAnd speakلَهُۥto himقَوْلًاa wordلَّيِّنًاgentleلَّعَلَّهُۥperhaps heيَتَذَكَّرُmay take heedأَوْorيَخْشَىٰfear44
قَالَاThey saidرَبَّنَآOur LordإِنَّنَاIndeed, weنَخَافُfearأَنthatيَفْرُطَhe will hastenعَلَيْنَآagainst usأَوْorأَنthatيَطْغَىٰhe will transgress45
قَالَHe saidلَا(Do) notتَخَافَآfearإِنَّنِىIndeed, I Amمَعَكُمَآwith you bothأَسْمَعُI hearوَأَرَىٰand I see46
فَأْتِيَاهُSo go to himفَقُولَآand sayإِنَّاIndeed, weرَسُولَاboth (are) Messengersرَبِّكَ(of) your Lordفَأَرْسِلْso sendمَعَنَاwith usبَنِىٓ(the) Children of Israelإِسْرَٰٓءِيلَ(the) Children of Israelوَلَاand (do) notتُعَذِّبْهُمْtorment themقَدْVerilyجِئْنَٰكَwe came to youبِـَٔايَةٍwith a Signمِّنfromرَّبِّكَyour LordوَٱلسَّلَٰمُAnd peaceعَلَىٰonمَنِ(one) whoٱتَّبَعَfollowsٱلْهُدَىٰٓthe Guidance47
إِنَّاIndeed, weقَدْverilyأُوحِىَit has been revealedإِلَيْنَآto usأَنَّthatٱلْعَذَابَthe punishmentعَلَىٰ(will be) onمَن(one) whoكَذَّبَdeniesوَتَوَلَّىٰand turns away48
قَالَHe saidرَبُّنَاOur Lordٱلَّذِىٓ(is) the One Whoأَعْطَىٰgaveكُلَّ(to) everyشَىْءٍthingخَلْقَهُۥits formثُمَّthenهَدَىٰHe guided (it)50
قَالَHe saidفَمَاThen whatبَالُ(is the) caseٱلْقُرُونِ(of) the generationsٱلْأُولَىٰ(of) the former51
قَالَHe saidعِلْمُهَاIts knowledgeعِندَ(is) withرَبِّىmy Lordفِىinكِتَٰبٍa RecordلَّاNotيَضِلُّerrsرَبِّىmy Lordوَلَاand notيَنسَىforgets52
ٱلَّذِىThe One Whoجَعَلَmadeلَكُمُfor youٱلْأَرْضَthe earthمَهْدًا(as) a bedوَسَلَكَand insertedلَكُمْfor youفِيهَاthereinسُبُلًاwaysوَأَنزَلَand sent downمِنَfromٱلسَّمَآءِthe skyمَآءًwaterفَأَخْرَجْنَاthen We (have) brought forthبِهِۦٓwith itأَزْوَٰجًاpairsمِّنofنَّبَاتٍplantsشَتَّىٰdiverse53
كُلُوا۟Eatوَٱرْعَوْا۟and pastureأَنْعَٰمَكُمْyour cattleإِنَّIndeedفِىinذَٰلِكَthatلَءَايَٰتٍsurely (are) Signsلِّأُو۟لِىfor possessorsٱلنُّهَىٰ(of) intelligence54
مِنْهَاFrom itخَلَقْنَٰكُمْWe created youوَفِيهَاand in itنُعِيدُكُمْWe will return youوَمِنْهَاand from itنُخْرِجُكُمْWe will bring you outتَارَةًtimeأُخْرَىٰanother55
وَلَقَدْAnd verilyأَرَيْنَٰهُWe showed himءَايَٰتِنَاOur Signsكُلَّهَاall of themفَكَذَّبَbut he deniedوَأَبَىٰand refused56
قَالَHe saidأَجِئْتَنَاHave you come to usلِتُخْرِجَنَاto drive us outمِنْofأَرْضِنَاour landبِسِحْرِكَwith your magicيَٰمُوسَىٰO Musa57
فَلَنَأْتِيَنَّكَThen we will surely produce for youبِسِحْرٍmagicمِّثْلِهِۦlike itفَٱجْعَلْSo makeبَيْنَنَاbetween usوَبَيْنَكَand between youمَوْعِدًاan appointmentلَّاnotنُخْلِفُهُۥwe will fail itنَحْنُ[we]وَلَآand notأَنتَyouمَكَانًا(in) a placeسُوًىeven58
قَالَHe saidمَوْعِدُكُمْYour appointmentيَوْمُ(is on the) dayٱلزِّينَةِ(of) the festivalوَأَنand thatيُحْشَرَwill be assembledٱلنَّاسُthe peopleضُحًى(at) forenoon59
فَتَوَلَّىٰThen went awayفِرْعَوْنُFiraunفَجَمَعَand put togetherكَيْدَهُۥhis planثُمَّthenأَتَىٰcame60
قَالَSaidلَهُمto themمُّوسَىٰMusaوَيْلَكُمْWoe to youلَا(Do) notتَفْتَرُوا۟inventعَلَىagainstٱللَّهِAllahكَذِبًاa lieفَيُسْحِتَكُمlest He will destroy youبِعَذَابٍwith a punishmentوَقَدْAnd verilyخَابَhe failedمَنِwhoٱفْتَرَىٰinvented61
فَتَنَٰزَعُوٓا۟Then they disputedأَمْرَهُم(in) their affairبَيْنَهُمْamong themوَأَسَرُّوا۟and they kept secretٱلنَّجْوَىٰthe private conversation62
قَالُوٓا۟They saidإِنْIndeedهَٰذَٰنِthese twoلَسَٰحِرَٰنِ[two] magiciansيُرِيدَانِthey intendأَنthatيُخْرِجَاكُمthey drive you outمِّنْofأَرْضِكُمyour landبِسِحْرِهِمَاwith their magicوَيَذْهَبَاand do awayبِطَرِيقَتِكُمُwith your wayٱلْمُثْلَىٰthe exemplary63
فَأَجْمِعُوا۟So put togetherكَيْدَكُمْyour planثُمَّthenٱئْتُوا۟comeصَفًّا(in) a lineوَقَدْAnd verilyأَفْلَحَ(will be) successfulٱلْيَوْمَtodayمَنِwhoٱسْتَعْلَىٰovercomes64
قَالُوا۟They saidيَٰمُوسَىٰٓO MusaإِمَّآEitherأَن[that]تُلْقِىَyou throwوَإِمَّآorأَن[that]نَّكُونَwe will beأَوَّلَthe firstمَنْwhoأَلْقَىٰthrows65
قَالَHe saidبَلْNayأَلْقُوا۟you throwفَإِذَاThen beholdحِبَالُهُمْTheir ropesوَعِصِيُّهُمْand their staffsيُخَيَّلُseemedإِلَيْهِto himمِنbyسِحْرِهِمْtheir magicأَنَّهَاthat theyتَسْعَىٰ(were) moving66
وَأَلْقِAnd throwمَاwhatفِى(is) inيَمِينِكَyour right handتَلْقَفْit will swallow upمَاwhatصَنَعُوٓا۟they have madeإِنَّمَاOnlyصَنَعُوا۟they (have) madeكَيْدُa trickسَٰحِرٍ(of) a magicianوَلَاand notيُفْلِحُwill be successfulٱلسَّاحِرُthe magicianحَيْثُwhereverأَتَىٰhe comes69
فَأُلْقِىَSo were thrown downٱلسَّحَرَةُthe magiciansسُجَّدًاprostratingقَالُوٓا۟They saidءَامَنَّاWe believeبِرَبِّin (the) Lordهَٰرُونَ(of) Harunوَمُوسَىٰand Musa70
قَالَHe saidءَامَنتُمْYou believeلَهُۥ[to] himقَبْلَbeforeأَنْ[that]ءَاذَنَI gave permissionلَكُمْto youإِنَّهُۥIndeed, heلَكَبِيرُكُمُ(is) your chiefٱلَّذِىthe one whoعَلَّمَكُمُtaught youٱلسِّحْرَthe magicفَلَأُقَطِّعَنَّSo surely I will cut offأَيْدِيَكُمْyour handsوَأَرْجُلَكُمand your feetمِّنْofخِلَٰفٍopposite sidesوَلَأُصَلِّبَنَّكُمْand surely I will crucify youفِىonجُذُوعِ(the) trunksٱلنَّخْلِ(of) date-palmsوَلَتَعْلَمُنَّand surely you will knowأَيُّنَآwhich of usأَشَدُّ(is) more severeعَذَابًا(in) punishmentوَأَبْقَىٰand more lasting71
قَالُوا۟They saidلَنNeverنُّؤْثِرَكَwe will prefer youعَلَىٰoverمَاwhatجَآءَنَاhas come to usمِنَofٱلْبَيِّنَٰتِthe clear proofsوَٱلَّذِىand the One Whoفَطَرَنَاcreated usفَٱقْضِSo decreeمَآwhateverأَنتَyouقَاضٍ(are) decreeingإِنَّمَاOnlyتَقْضِىyou can decreeهَٰذِهِ(for) thisٱلْحَيَوٰةَlifeٱلدُّنْيَآ(of) the world72
إِنَّآIndeed, [we]ءَامَنَّاwe believeبِرَبِّنَاin our Lordلِيَغْفِرَthat He may forgiveلَنَاfor usخَطَٰيَٰنَاour sinsوَمَآand whatأَكْرَهْتَنَاyou compelled usعَلَيْهِon itمِنَofٱلسِّحْرِthe magicوَٱللَّهُAnd Allahخَيْرٌ(is) Bestوَأَبْقَىٰٓand Ever Lasting73
إِنَّهُۥIndeed, heمَنwhoيَأْتِcomesرَبَّهُۥ(to) his Lordمُجْرِمًا(as) a criminalفَإِنَّthen indeedلَهُۥfor himجَهَنَّمَ(is) HellلَاNotيَمُوتُhe will dieفِيهَاin itوَلَاand notيَحْيَىٰlive74
وَمَنBut whoeverيَأْتِهِۦcomes to Himمُؤْمِنًا(as) a believerقَدْverilyعَمِلَhe has doneٱلصَّٰلِحَٰتِthe righteous deedsفَأُو۟لَٰٓئِكَthen thoseلَهُمُfor themٱلدَّرَجَٰتُ(will be) the ranksٱلْعُلَىٰ[the] high75
جَنَّٰتُGardensعَدْنٍ(of) Edenتَجْرِىflowsمِنfromتَحْتِهَاunderneath themٱلْأَنْهَٰرُthe riversخَٰلِدِينَabiding foreverفِيهَاin itوَذَٰلِكَAnd thatجَزَآءُ(is) the rewardمَن(for him) whoتَزَكَّىٰpurifies himself76
وَلَقَدْAnd verilyأَوْحَيْنَآWe inspiredإِلَىٰtoمُوسَىٰٓMusaأَنْthatأَسْرِTravel by nightبِعِبَادِىwith My slavesفَٱضْرِبْand strikeلَهُمْfor themطَرِيقًاa pathفِىinٱلْبَحْرِthe seaيَبَسًاdryلَّاnotتَخَٰفُfearingدَرَكًاto be overtakenوَلَاand notتَخْشَىٰbeing afraid77
فَأَتْبَعَهُمْThen followed themفِرْعَوْنُFiraunبِجُنُودِهِۦwith his forcesفَغَشِيَهُمbut covered themمِّنَfromٱلْيَمِّthe seaمَاwhatغَشِيَهُمْcovered them78
يَٰبَنِىٓO Children of IsraelإِسْرَٰٓءِيلَO Children of IsraelقَدْVerilyأَنجَيْنَٰكُمWe delivered youمِّنْfromعَدُوِّكُمْyour enemyوَوَٰعَدْنَٰكُمْand We made a covenant with youجَانِبَon (the) sideٱلطُّورِ(of) the Mountٱلْأَيْمَنَthe rightوَنَزَّلْنَاand We sent downعَلَيْكُمُto youٱلْمَنَّthe Mannaوَٱلسَّلْوَىٰand the quails80
كُلُوا۟Eatمِنofطَيِّبَٰتِ(the) good thingsمَاwhichرَزَقْنَٰكُمْWe have provided youوَلَاand (do) notتَطْغَوْا۟transgressفِيهِthereinفَيَحِلَّlest should descendعَلَيْكُمْupon youغَضَبِىMy AngerوَمَنAnd whoeverيَحْلِلْon whom descendsعَلَيْهِon whom descendsغَضَبِىMy Angerفَقَدْindeedهَوَىٰhe (has) perished81
وَإِنِّىBut indeed, I Amلَغَفَّارٌthe Perpetual Forgiverلِّمَنof whoeverتَابَrepentsوَءَامَنَand believesوَعَمِلَand doesصَٰلِحًاrighteous (deeds)ثُمَّthenٱهْتَدَىٰremains guided82
قَالَHe saidهُمْTheyأُو۟لَآءِ(are) closeعَلَىٰٓuponأَثَرِىmy tracksوَعَجِلْتُand I hastenedإِلَيْكَto youرَبِّmy Lordلِتَرْضَىٰthat You be pleased84
قَالَHe saidفَإِنَّاBut indeed, Weقَدْ[verily]فَتَنَّاWe (have) triedقَوْمَكَyour peopleمِنۢafter youبَعْدِكَafter youوَأَضَلَّهُمُand has led them astrayٱلسَّامِرِىُّthe Samiri85
فَرَجَعَThen Musa returnedمُوسَىٰٓThen Musa returnedإِلَىٰtoقَوْمِهِۦhis peopleغَضْبَٰنَangryأَسِفًا(and) sorrowfulقَالَHe saidيَٰقَوْمِO my peopleأَلَمْDid notيَعِدْكُمْpromise youرَبُّكُمْyour Lordوَعْدًاa promiseحَسَنًاgoodأَفَطَالَThen, did seem longعَلَيْكُمُto youٱلْعَهْدُthe promiseأَمْorأَرَدتُّمْdid you desireأَنthatيَحِلَّdescendعَلَيْكُمْupon youغَضَبٌ(the) Angerمِّنofرَّبِّكُمْyour Lordفَأَخْلَفْتُمso you brokeمَّوْعِدِى(the) promise to me86
قَالُوا۟They saidمَآNotأَخْلَفْنَاwe brokeمَوْعِدَكَpromise to youبِمَلْكِنَاby our willوَلَٰكِنَّاbut weحُمِّلْنَآ[we] were made to carryأَوْزَارًاburdensمِّنfromزِينَةِornamentsٱلْقَوْمِ(of) the peopleفَقَذَفْنَٰهَاso we threw themفَكَذَٰلِكَand thusأَلْقَىthrewٱلسَّامِرِىُّthe Samiri87
فَأَخْرَجَThen he brought forthلَهُمْfor themعِجْلًاa calf'sجَسَدًاbodyلَّهُۥit hadخُوَارٌa lowing soundفَقَالُوا۟and they saidهَٰذَآThisإِلَٰهُكُمْ(is) your godوَإِلَٰهُand the godمُوسَىٰ(of) Musaفَنَسِىَbut he forgot88
أَفَلَاThen, did notيَرَوْنَthey seeأَلَّاthat notيَرْجِعُit (could) returnإِلَيْهِمْto themقَوْلًاa wordوَلَاand notيَمْلِكُpossessلَهُمْfor themضَرًّاany harmوَلَاand notنَفْعًاany benefit89
وَلَقَدْAnd verilyقَالَ(had) saidلَهُمْto themهَٰرُونُHarunمِنbeforeقَبْلُbeforeيَٰقَوْمِO my peopleإِنَّمَاOnlyفُتِنتُمyou are being testedبِهِۦby itوَإِنَّand indeedرَبَّكُمُyour Lordٱلرَّحْمَٰنُ(is) the Most Graciousفَٱتَّبِعُونِىso follow meوَأَطِيعُوٓا۟and obeyأَمْرِىmy order90
قَالُوا۟They saidلَنNeverنَّبْرَحَwe will ceaseعَلَيْهِbeing devoted to itعَٰكِفِينَbeing devoted to itحَتَّىٰuntilيَرْجِعَreturnsإِلَيْنَاto usمُوسَىٰMusa91
قَالَHe saidيَٰهَٰرُونُO HarunمَاWhatمَنَعَكَprevented youإِذْwhenرَأَيْتَهُمْyou saw themضَلُّوٓا۟going astray92
قَالَHe saidيَبْنَؤُمَّO son of my motherلَا(Do) notتَأْخُذْseize (me)بِلِحْيَتِىby my beardوَلَاand notبِرَأْسِىٓby my headإِنِّىIndeed, Iخَشِيتُ[I] fearedأَنthatتَقُولَyou would sayفَرَّقْتَYou caused divisionبَيْنَbetweenبَنِىٓ(the) Children of Israelإِسْرَٰٓءِيلَ(the) Children of Israelوَلَمْand notتَرْقُبْyou respectقَوْلِىmy word94
قَالَHe saidبَصُرْتُI perceivedبِمَاwhatلَمْnotيَبْصُرُوا۟they perceiveبِهِۦin itفَقَبَضْتُso I tookقَبْضَةًa handfulمِّنْfromأَثَرِ(the) trackٱلرَّسُولِ(of) the Messengerفَنَبَذْتُهَاthen threw itوَكَذَٰلِكَand thusسَوَّلَتْsuggestedلِىto meنَفْسِىmy soul96
قَالَHe saidفَٱذْهَبْThen goفَإِنَّAnd indeedلَكَfor youفِىinٱلْحَيَوٰةِthe lifeأَنthatتَقُولَyou will sayلَا(Do) notمِسَاسَtouchوَإِنَّAnd indeedلَكَfor youمَوْعِدًا(is) an appointmentلَّنneverتُخْلَفَهُۥyou will fail to (keep) itوَٱنظُرْAnd lookإِلَىٰٓatإِلَٰهِكَyour godٱلَّذِىthat whichظَلْتَyou have remainedعَلَيْهِto itعَاكِفًاdevotedلَّنُحَرِّقَنَّهُۥSurely we will burn itثُمَّthenلَنَنسِفَنَّهُۥcertainly we will scatter itفِىinٱلْيَمِّthe seaنَسْفًا(in) particles97
إِنَّمَآOnlyإِلَٰهُكُمُyour Godٱللَّهُ(is) Allahٱلَّذِىthe Oneلَآ(there is) noإِلَٰهَgodإِلَّاbutهُوَHeوَسِعَHe has encompassedكُلَّallشَىْءٍthingsعِلْمًا(in) knowledge98
كَذَٰلِكَThusنَقُصُّWe relateعَلَيْكَto youمِنْfromأَنۢبَآءِ(the) newsمَا(of) whatقَدْhas precededسَبَقَhas precededوَقَدْAnd certainlyءَاتَيْنَٰكَWe have given youمِنfromلَّدُنَّاUsذِكْرًاa Reminder99
مَّنْWhoeverأَعْرَضَturns awayعَنْهُfrom itفَإِنَّهُۥthen indeed, heيَحْمِلُwill bearيَوْمَ(on the) Dayٱلْقِيَٰمَةِ(of) Resurrectionوِزْرًاa burden100
خَٰلِدِينَAbiding foreverفِيهِin itوَسَآءَand evilلَهُمْfor themيَوْمَ(on the) Dayٱلْقِيَٰمَةِ(of) the Resurrectionحِمْلًا(as) a load101
يَوْمَ(The) Dayيُنفَخُwill be blownفِىinٱلصُّورِthe Trumpetوَنَحْشُرُand We will gatherٱلْمُجْرِمِينَthe criminalsيَوْمَئِذٍthat Dayزُرْقًاblue-eyed102
يَتَخَٰفَتُونَThey are murmuringبَيْنَهُمْamong themselvesإِنNotلَّبِثْتُمْyou remainedإِلَّاexcept (for)عَشْرًاten103
نَّحْنُWeأَعْلَمُknow bestبِمَاwhatيَقُولُونَthey will sayإِذْwhenيَقُولُwill sayأَمْثَلُهُمْ(the) best of themطَرِيقَةً(in) conductإِنNotلَّبِثْتُمْyou remainedإِلَّاexcept (for)يَوْمًاa day104
وَيَسْـَٔلُونَكَAnd they ask youعَنِaboutٱلْجِبَالِthe mountainsفَقُلْso sayيَنسِفُهَاWill blast themرَبِّىmy Lordنَسْفًا(into) particles105
يَوْمَئِذٍOn that Dayيَتَّبِعُونَthey will followٱلدَّاعِىَthe callerلَاnoعِوَجَdeviationلَهُۥfrom itوَخَشَعَتِAnd (will be) humbledٱلْأَصْوَاتُthe voicesلِلرَّحْمَٰنِfor the Most Graciousفَلَاso notتَسْمَعُyou will hearإِلَّاexceptهَمْسًاa faint sound108
يَوْمَئِذٍ(On) that Dayلَّاnotتَنفَعُwill benefitٱلشَّفَٰعَةُthe intercessionإِلَّاexceptمَنْ(to) whomأَذِنَhas given permissionلَهُ[to him]ٱلرَّحْمَٰنُthe Most Graciousوَرَضِىَand He has acceptedلَهُۥfor himقَوْلًاa word109
يَعْلَمُHe knowsمَاwhatبَيْنَ(is) before themأَيْدِيهِمْ(is) before themوَمَاand whatخَلْفَهُمْ(is) behind themوَلَاwhile notيُحِيطُونَthey encompassبِهِۦitعِلْمًا(in) knowledge110
وَعَنَتِAnd (will be) humbledٱلْوُجُوهُthe facesلِلْحَىِّbefore the Ever-Livingٱلْقَيُّومِthe Self-SubsistingوَقَدْAnd verilyخَابَwill have failedمَنْ(he) whoحَمَلَcarriedظُلْمًاwrongdoing111
وَمَنBut (he) whoيَعْمَلْdoesمِنَofٱلصَّٰلِحَٰتِthe righteous deedsوَهُوَwhile heمُؤْمِنٌ(is) a believerفَلَاthen notيَخَافُhe will fearظُلْمًاinjusticeوَلَاand notهَضْمًاdeprivation112
وَكَذَٰلِكَAnd thusأَنزَلْنَٰهُWe have sent it downقُرْءَانًا(the) Quranعَرَبِيًّا(in) Arabicوَصَرَّفْنَاand We have explainedفِيهِin itمِنَofٱلْوَعِيدِthe warningsلَعَلَّهُمْthat they mayيَتَّقُونَfearأَوْorيُحْدِثُit may causeلَهُمْ[for] themذِكْرًاremembrance113
فَتَعَٰلَىSo high (above all)ٱللَّهُ(is) Allahٱلْمَلِكُthe Kingٱلْحَقُّthe TrueوَلَاAnd (do) notتَعْجَلْhastenبِٱلْقُرْءَانِwith the Quranمِنbeforeقَبْلِbeforeأَن[that]يُقْضَىٰٓis completedإِلَيْكَto youوَحْيُهُۥits revelationوَقُلand sayرَّبِّMy LordزِدْنِىIncrease meعِلْمًا(in) knowledge114
وَلَقَدْAnd verilyعَهِدْنَآWe made a covenantإِلَىٰٓwithءَادَمَAdamمِنbeforeقَبْلُbeforeفَنَسِىَbut he forgotوَلَمْand notنَجِدْWe foundلَهُۥin himعَزْمًاdetermination115
وَإِذْAnd whenقُلْنَاWe saidلِلْمَلَٰٓئِكَةِto the Angelsٱسْجُدُوا۟Prostrateلِءَادَمَto Adamفَسَجَدُوٓا۟then they prostratedإِلَّآexceptإِبْلِيسَIblisأَبَىٰhe refused116
فَقُلْنَاThen We saidيَٰٓـَٔادَمُO AdamإِنَّIndeedهَٰذَاthisعَدُوٌّ(is) an enemyلَّكَto youوَلِزَوْجِكَand to your wifeفَلَاSo notيُخْرِجَنَّكُمَا(let) him drive you bothمِنَfromٱلْجَنَّةِParadiseفَتَشْقَىٰٓso (that) you would suffer117
إِنَّIndeedلَكَfor youأَلَّاthat notتَجُوعَyou will be hungryفِيهَاthereinوَلَاand notتَعْرَىٰyou will be unclothed118
وَأَنَّكَAnd that youلَاnotتَظْمَؤُا۟will suffer from thirstفِيهَاthereinوَلَاand notتَضْحَىٰexposed to the sun's heat119
فَوَسْوَسَThen whisperedإِلَيْهِto himٱلشَّيْطَٰنُShaitaanقَالَhe saidيَٰٓـَٔادَمُO AdamهَلْShallأَدُلُّكَI direct youعَلَىٰtoشَجَرَةِ(the) treeٱلْخُلْدِ(of) the Eternityوَمُلْكٍand a kingdomلَّاnotيَبْلَىٰ(that will) deteriorate120
فَأَكَلَاThen they both ateمِنْهَاfrom itفَبَدَتْso became apparentلَهُمَاto themسَوْءَٰتُهُمَاtheir shameوَطَفِقَاand they beganيَخْصِفَانِ(to) fastenعَلَيْهِمَاon themselvesمِنfromوَرَقِ(the) leavesٱلْجَنَّةِ(of) ParadiseوَعَصَىٰٓAnd Adam disobeyedءَادَمُAnd Adam disobeyedرَبَّهُۥhis Lordفَغَوَىٰand erred121
ثُمَّThenٱجْتَبَٰهُchose himرَبُّهُۥhis Lordفَتَابَand turnedعَلَيْهِto himوَهَدَىٰand guided (him)122
قَالَHe saidٱهْبِطَاGo downمِنْهَاfrom itجَمِيعًۢاallبَعْضُكُمْsome of youلِبَعْضٍto othersعَدُوٌّ(as) enemyفَإِمَّاThen ifيَأْتِيَنَّكُمcomes to youمِّنِّىfrom Meهُدًىguidanceفَمَنِthen whoeverٱتَّبَعَfollowsهُدَاىَMy guidanceفَلَاthen notيَضِلُّhe will go astrayوَلَاand notيَشْقَىٰsuffer123
وَمَنْAnd whoeverأَعْرَضَturns awayعَنfromذِكْرِىMy remembranceفَإِنَّthen indeedلَهُۥfor himمَعِيشَةً(is) a lifeضَنكًاstraitenedوَنَحْشُرُهُۥand We will gather himيَوْمَ(on the) Dayٱلْقِيَٰمَةِ(of) the Resurrectionأَعْمَىٰblind124
قَالَHe will sayرَبِّMy LordلِمَWhyحَشَرْتَنِىٓYou raised meأَعْمَىٰblindوَقَدْwhile [verily]كُنتُI hadبَصِيرًاsight125
قَالَHe will sayكَذَٰلِكَThusأَتَتْكَcame to youءَايَٰتُنَاOur Signsفَنَسِيتَهَاbut you forgot themوَكَذَٰلِكَand thusٱلْيَوْمَtodayتُنسَىٰyou will be forgotten126
وَكَذَٰلِكَAnd thusنَجْزِىWe recompenseمَنْ(he) whoأَسْرَفَtransgressesوَلَمْand notيُؤْمِنۢbelievesبِـَٔايَٰتِin (the) Signsرَبِّهِۦ(of) his LordوَلَعَذَابُAnd surely (the) punishmentٱلْءَاخِرَةِ(of) the Hereafterأَشَدُّ(is) more severeوَأَبْقَىٰٓand more lasting127
أَفَلَمْThen has notيَهْدِit guidedلَهُمْ[for] themكَمْhow manyأَهْلَكْنَاWe (have) destroyedقَبْلَهُمbefore themمِّنَofٱلْقُرُونِthe generationsيَمْشُونَ(as) they walkفِىinمَسَٰكِنِهِمْtheir dwellingsإِنَّIndeedفِىinذَٰلِكَthatلَءَايَٰتٍsurely (are) Signsلِّأُو۟لِىfor possessorsٱلنُّهَىٰ(of) intelligence128
وَلَوْلَاAnd if notكَلِمَةٌ(for) a Wordسَبَقَتْ(that) precededمِنfromرَّبِّكَyour Lordلَكَانَsurely (would) have beenلِزَامًاan obligationوَأَجَلٌand a termمُّسَمًّىdetermined129
فَٱصْبِرْSo be patientعَلَىٰoverمَاwhatيَقُولُونَthey sayوَسَبِّحْand glorifyبِحَمْدِwith praiseرَبِّكَ(of) your Lordقَبْلَbeforeطُلُوعِ(the) risingٱلشَّمْسِ(of) the sunوَقَبْلَand beforeغُرُوبِهَاits settingوَمِنْand fromءَانَآئِ(the) hoursٱلَّيْلِ(of) the nightفَسَبِّحْand glorifyوَأَطْرَافَ(at the) endsٱلنَّهَارِ(of) the dayلَعَلَّكَso that you mayتَرْضَىٰbe satisfied130
وَلَاAnd (do) notتَمُدَّنَّextendعَيْنَيْكَyour eyesإِلَىٰtowardsمَاwhatمَتَّعْنَاWe have given for enjoymentبِهِۦٓ[with it]أَزْوَٰجًاpairsمِّنْهُمْof themزَهْرَةَ(the) splendorٱلْحَيَوٰةِ(of) the lifeٱلدُّنْيَا(of) the worldلِنَفْتِنَهُمْthat We may test themفِيهِin itوَرِزْقُAnd (the) provisionرَبِّكَ(of) your Lordخَيْرٌ(is) betterوَأَبْقَىٰand more lasting131
وَأْمُرْAnd enjoinأَهْلَكَ(on) your familyبِٱلصَّلَوٰةِthe prayerوَٱصْطَبِرْand be steadfastعَلَيْهَاthereinلَاNotنَسْـَٔلُكَWe ask youرِزْقًا(for) provisionنَّحْنُWeنَرْزُقُكَprovide (for) youوَٱلْعَٰقِبَةُand the outcomeلِلتَّقْوَىٰ(is) for the righteous[ness]132
وَقَالُوا۟And they sayلَوْلَاWhy notيَأْتِينَاhe brings usبِـَٔايَةٍa signمِّنfromرَّبِّهِۦٓhis LordأَوَلَمْHas notتَأْتِهِمcome to themبَيِّنَةُevidenceمَا(of) whatفِى(was) inٱلصُّحُفِthe Scripturesٱلْأُولَىٰthe former133
وَلَوْAnd ifأَنَّآWeأَهْلَكْنَٰهُم(had) destroyed themبِعَذَابٍwith a punishmentمِّنbefore himقَبْلِهِۦbefore himلَقَالُوا۟surely they (would) have saidرَبَّنَاOur Lordلَوْلَآwhy notأَرْسَلْتَYou sentإِلَيْنَاto usرَسُولًاa Messengerفَنَتَّبِعَso we (could) have followedءَايَٰتِكَYour signsمِنbeforeقَبْلِbeforeأَن[that]نَّذِلَّwe were humiliatedوَنَخْزَىٰand disgraced134
قُلْSayكُلٌّEachمُّتَرَبِّصٌ(is) waitingفَتَرَبَّصُوا۟so awaitفَسَتَعْلَمُونَThen you will knowمَنْwhoأَصْحَٰبُ(are the) companionsٱلصِّرَٰطِ(of) the wayٱلسَّوِىِّ[the] evenوَمَنِand whoٱهْتَدَىٰis guided135
