فَمَاBut notكَانَwasجَوَابَ(the) answerقَوْمِهِۦٓ(of) his peopleإِلَّآexceptأَنthatقَالُوٓا۟they saidأَخْرِجُوٓا۟Drive outءَالَ(the) familyلُوطٍ(of) Lutمِّنfromقَرْيَتِكُمْyour townإِنَّهُمْIndeed, theyأُنَاسٌ(are) peopleيَتَطَهَّرُونَwho keep clean and pure56
فَأَنجَيْنَٰهُSo We saved himوَأَهْلَهُۥٓand his familyإِلَّاexceptٱمْرَأَتَهُۥhis wifeقَدَّرْنَٰهَاWe destined herمِنَ(to be) ofٱلْغَٰبِرِينَthose who remained behind57
وَأَمْطَرْنَاAnd We rainedعَلَيْهِمupon themمَّطَرًاa rainفَسَآءَand was evilمَطَرُ(the) rainٱلْمُنذَرِينَ(on) those who were warned58
قُلِSayٱلْحَمْدُAll praise (be)لِلَّهِto Allahوَسَلَٰمٌand peace (be)عَلَىٰuponعِبَادِهِHis slavesٱلَّذِينَthose whomٱصْطَفَىٰٓHe has chosenءَآللَّهُIs Allahخَيْرٌbetterأَمَّاor whatيُشْرِكُونَthey associate (with Him)59
أَمَّنْOr Whoخَلَقَhas createdٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِthe heavensوَٱلْأَرْضَand the earthوَأَنزَلَand sent downلَكُمfor youمِّنَfromٱلسَّمَآءِthe skyمَآءًwaterفَأَنۢبَتْنَاAnd We caused to growبِهِۦtherebyحَدَآئِقَgardensذَاتَof beauty (and delight)بَهْجَةٍof beauty (and delight)مَّاnotكَانَit isلَكُمْfor youأَنthatتُنۢبِتُوا۟you cause to growشَجَرَهَآtheir treesأَءِلَٰهٌIs there any godمَّعَwithٱللَّهِAllahبَلْNayهُمْtheyقَوْمٌ(are) a peopleيَعْدِلُونَwho ascribe equals60
أَمَّنOr Whoجَعَلَmadeٱلْأَرْضَthe earthقَرَارًاa firm abodeوَجَعَلَand madeخِلَٰلَهَآ(in) its midstأَنْهَٰرًاriversوَجَعَلَand madeلَهَاfor itرَوَٰسِىَfirm mountainsوَجَعَلَand madeبَيْنَbetweenٱلْبَحْرَيْنِthe two seasحَاجِزًاa barrierأَءِلَٰهٌIs there any godمَّعَwithٱللَّهِAllahبَلْNayأَكْثَرُهُمْmost of themلَا(do) notيَعْلَمُونَknow61
أَمَّنOr Whoيُجِيبُrespondsٱلْمُضْطَرَّ(to) the distressed oneإِذَاwhenدَعَاهُhe calls Himوَيَكْشِفُand He removesٱلسُّوٓءَthe evilوَيَجْعَلُكُمْand makes youخُلَفَآءَinheritorsٱلْأَرْضِ(of) the earthأَءِلَٰهٌIs there any godمَّعَwithٱللَّهِAllahقَلِيلًاLittleمَّا(is) whatتَذَكَّرُونَyou remember62
أَمَّنOr Whoيَهْدِيكُمْguides youفِىinظُلُمَٰتِ(the) darkness[es]ٱلْبَرِّ(of) the landوَٱلْبَحْرِand the seaوَمَنand Whoيُرْسِلُsendsٱلرِّيَٰحَthe windsبُشْرًۢا(as) glad tidingsبَيْنَbeforeيَدَىْbeforeرَحْمَتِهِۦٓHis MercyأَءِلَٰهٌIs there any godمَّعَwithٱللَّهِAllahتَعَٰلَىHigh isٱللَّهُAllahعَمَّاabove whatيُشْرِكُونَthey associate (with Him)63
أَمَّنOr Whoيَبْدَؤُا۟originatesٱلْخَلْقَthe creationثُمَّthenيُعِيدُهُۥrepeats itوَمَنand Whoيَرْزُقُكُمprovides youمِّنَfromٱلسَّمَآءِthe heavensوَٱلْأَرْضِand the earthأَءِلَٰهٌIs there any godمَّعَwithٱللَّهِAllahقُلْSayهَاتُوا۟Bring forthبُرْهَٰنَكُمْyour proofإِنifكُنتُمْyou areصَٰدِقِينَtruthful64
قُلSayلَّاNo (one)يَعْلَمُknowsمَنwhoeverفِى(is) inٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِthe heavensوَٱلْأَرْضِand the earthٱلْغَيْبَ(of) the unseenإِلَّاexceptٱللَّهُAllahوَمَاand notيَشْعُرُونَthey perceiveأَيَّانَwhenيُبْعَثُونَthey will be resurrected65
بَلِNayٱدَّٰرَكَis arrestedعِلْمُهُمْtheir knowledgeفِىofٱلْءَاخِرَةِthe HereafterبَلْNayهُمْtheyفِى(are) inشَكٍّdoubtمِّنْهَاabout itبَلْNayهُمtheyمِّنْهَاabout itعَمُونَ(are) blind66
وَقَالَAnd sayٱلَّذِينَthose whoكَفَرُوٓا۟disbelieveأَءِذَاWhat, whenكُنَّاwe have becomeتُرَٰبًاdustوَءَابَآؤُنَآand our forefathersأَئِنَّاwill weلَمُخْرَجُونَsurely be brought out67
لَقَدْCertainlyوُعِدْنَاwe have been promisedهَٰذَاthisنَحْنُweوَءَابَآؤُنَاand our forefathersمِنbeforeقَبْلُbeforeإِنْNotهَٰذَآ(is) thisإِلَّآexceptأَسَٰطِيرُtalesٱلْأَوَّلِينَ(of) the former (people)68
قُلْSayسِيرُوا۟Travelفِىinٱلْأَرْضِthe landفَٱنظُرُوا۟and seeكَيْفَhowكَانَwasعَٰقِبَةُ(the) endٱلْمُجْرِمِينَ(of) the criminals69
وَلَاAnd (do) notتَحْزَنْgrieveعَلَيْهِمْover themوَلَاand notتَكُنbeفِىinضَيْقٍdistressمِّمَّاfrom whatيَمْكُرُونَthey plot70
وَيَقُولُونَAnd they sayمَتَىٰWhenهَٰذَا(will) thisٱلْوَعْدُpromise (be fulfilled)إِنifكُنتُمْyou areصَٰدِقِينَtruthful71
قُلْSayعَسَىٰٓPerhapsأَنthatيَكُونَisرَدِفَclose behindلَكُمyouبَعْضُsomeٱلَّذِى(of) that whichتَسْتَعْجِلُونَyou seek to hasten72
وَإِنَّAnd indeedرَبَّكَyour Lordلَذُو(is) full of Bountyفَضْلٍ(is) full of Bountyعَلَىforٱلنَّاسِthe mankindوَلَٰكِنَّbutأَكْثَرَهُمْmost of themلَا(are) notيَشْكُرُونَgrateful73
وَإِنَّAnd indeedرَبَّكَyour Lordلَيَعْلَمُsurely knowsمَاwhatتُكِنُّconcealsصُدُورُهُمْtheir breastsوَمَاand whatيُعْلِنُونَthey declare74
وَمَاAnd not (is)مِنْany (thing)غَآئِبَةٍhiddenفِىinٱلسَّمَآءِthe heavensوَٱلْأَرْضِand the earthإِلَّاbutفِى(is) inكِتَٰبٍa Recordمُّبِينٍclear75
إِنَّIndeedهَٰذَاthisٱلْقُرْءَانَ[the] Quranيَقُصُّrelatesعَلَىٰtoبَنِىٓ(the) Childrenإِسْرَٰٓءِيلَ(of) Israelأَكْثَرَmostٱلَّذِى(of) thatهُمْtheyفِيهِin itيَخْتَلِفُونَdiffer76
وَإِنَّهُۥAnd indeed, itلَهُدًى(is) surely a guidanceوَرَحْمَةٌand a mercyلِّلْمُؤْمِنِينَfor the believers77
إِنَّIndeedرَبَّكَyour Lordيَقْضِىwill judgeبَيْنَهُمbetween themبِحُكْمِهِۦby His Judgmentوَهُوَand Heٱلْعَزِيزُ(is) the All-Mightyٱلْعَلِيمُthe All-Knower78
فَتَوَكَّلْSo put your trustعَلَىinٱللَّهِAllahإِنَّكَindeed, youعَلَى(are) onٱلْحَقِّthe truthٱلْمُبِينِmanifest79
إِنَّكَIndeed, youلَا(can) notتُسْمِعُcause to hearٱلْمَوْتَىٰthe deadوَلَاand notتُسْمِعُcan you cause to hearٱلصُّمَّthe deafٱلدُّعَآءَthe callإِذَاwhenوَلَّوْا۟they turn backمُدْبِرِينَretreating80
وَمَآAnd notأَنتَ(can) youبِهَٰدِىguideٱلْعُمْىِthe blindعَنfromضَلَٰلَتِهِمْtheir errorإِنNotتُسْمِعُyou can cause to hearإِلَّاexceptمَن(those) whoيُؤْمِنُbelieveبِـَٔايَٰتِنَاin Our Signsفَهُمso theyمُّسْلِمُونَ(are) Muslims81
وَإِذَاAnd whenوَقَعَ(is) fulfilledٱلْقَوْلُthe wordعَلَيْهِمْagainst themأَخْرَجْنَاWe will bring forthلَهُمْfor themدَآبَّةًa creatureمِّنَfromٱلْأَرْضِthe earthتُكَلِّمُهُمْspeaking to themأَنَّthatٱلنَّاسَthe peopleكَانُوا۟wereبِـَٔايَٰتِنَاof Our Signsلَاnotيُوقِنُونَcertain82
وَيَوْمَAnd (the) DayنَحْشُرُWe will gatherمِنfromكُلِّeveryأُمَّةٍnationفَوْجًاa troopمِّمَّنof (those) whoيُكَذِّبُdenyبِـَٔايَٰتِنَاOur Signsفَهُمْand theyيُوزَعُونَwill be set in rows83
حَتَّىٰٓUntilإِذَاwhenجَآءُوthey comeقَالَHe will sayأَكَذَّبْتُمDid you denyبِـَٔايَٰتِىMy Signsوَلَمْwhile notتُحِيطُوا۟you encompassedبِهَاthemعِلْمًا(in) knowledgeأَمَّاذَاor whatكُنتُمْyou used (to)تَعْمَلُونَdo84
وَوَقَعَAnd (will be) fulfilledٱلْقَوْلُthe wordعَلَيْهِمagainst themبِمَاbecauseظَلَمُوا۟they wrongedفَهُمْand theyلَا(will) notيَنطِقُونَspeak85
أَلَمْDo notيَرَوْا۟they seeأَنَّاthat Weجَعَلْنَا[We] have madeٱلَّيْلَthe nightلِيَسْكُنُوا۟that they may restفِيهِin itوَٱلنَّهَارَand the dayمُبْصِرًاgiving visibilityإِنَّIndeedفِىinذَٰلِكَthatلَءَايَٰتٍsurely (are) Signsلِّقَوْمٍfor a peopleيُؤْمِنُونَwho believe86
وَيَوْمَAnd (the) Dayيُنفَخُwill be blownفِى[in]ٱلصُّورِthe trumpetفَفَزِعَand will be terrifiedمَنwhoeverفِى(is) inٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِthe heavensوَمَنand whoeverفِى(is) inٱلْأَرْضِthe earthإِلَّاexceptمَنwhomشَآءَAllah willsٱللَّهُAllah willsوَكُلٌّAnd allأَتَوْهُ(will) come to Himدَٰخِرِينَhumbled87
وَتَرَىAnd you seeٱلْجِبَالَthe mountainsتَحْسَبُهَاthinking themجَامِدَةًfirmly fixedوَهِىَwhile theyتَمُرُّwill passمَرَّ(as the) passingٱلسَّحَابِ(of) the cloudsصُنْعَ(The) Workٱللَّهِ(of) AllahٱلَّذِىٓWhoأَتْقَنَperfectedكُلَّallشَىْءٍthingsإِنَّهُۥIndeed, Heخَبِيرٌۢ(is) All-Awareبِمَاof whatتَفْعَلُونَyou do88
مَنWhoeverجَآءَcomesبِٱلْحَسَنَةِwith the goodفَلَهُۥthen for himخَيْرٌ(will be) betterمِّنْهَاthan itوَهُمand theyمِّنfromفَزَعٍ(the) terrorيَوْمَئِذٍ(of) that Dayءَامِنُونَ(will be) safe89
وَمَنAnd whoeverجَآءَcomesبِٱلسَّيِّئَةِwith the evilفَكُبَّتْwill be cast downوُجُوهُهُمْtheir facesفِىinٱلنَّارِthe FireهَلْAreتُجْزَوْنَyou recompensedإِلَّاexceptمَا(for) whatكُنتُمْyou used (to)تَعْمَلُونَdo90
إِنَّمَآOnlyأُمِرْتُI am commandedأَنْthatأَعْبُدَI worshipرَبَّ(the) Lordهَٰذِهِ(of) thisٱلْبَلْدَةِcityٱلَّذِىthe One Whoحَرَّمَهَاmade it sacredوَلَهُۥand to Him (belongs)كُلُّallشَىْءٍthingsوَأُمِرْتُAnd I am commandedأَنْthatأَكُونَI beمِنَofٱلْمُسْلِمِينَthe Muslims91
وَأَنْAnd thatأَتْلُوَا۟I reciteٱلْقُرْءَانَthe QuranفَمَنِAnd whoeverٱهْتَدَىٰaccepts guidanceفَإِنَّمَاthen onlyيَهْتَدِىhe accepts guidanceلِنَفْسِهِۦfor himselfوَمَنand whoeverضَلَّgoes astrayفَقُلْthen sayإِنَّمَآOnlyأَنَاI amمِنَofٱلْمُنذِرِينَthe warners92
وَقُلِAnd sayٱلْحَمْدُAll praise (be)لِلَّهِto AllahسَيُرِيكُمْHe will show youءَايَٰتِهِۦHis Signsفَتَعْرِفُونَهَاand you will recognize themوَمَاAnd your Lord is notرَبُّكَAnd your Lord is notبِغَٰفِلٍunawareعَمَّاof whatتَعْمَلُونَyou do93

وَنُرِيدُAnd We wantedأَنtoنَّمُنَّbestow a favorعَلَىuponٱلَّذِينَthose whoٱسْتُضْعِفُوا۟were oppressedفِىinٱلْأَرْضِthe landوَنَجْعَلَهُمْand make themأَئِمَّةًleadersوَنَجْعَلَهُمُand make themٱلْوَٰرِثِينَthe inheritors5
وَنُمَكِّنَAnd [We] establishلَهُمْthemفِىinٱلْأَرْضِthe landوَنُرِىَand showفِرْعَوْنَFiraunوَهَٰمَٰنَand Hamanوَجُنُودَهُمَاand their hostsمِنْهُمthrough themمَّاwhatكَانُوا۟they wereيَحْذَرُونَfearing6
وَأَوْحَيْنَآAnd We inspiredإِلَىٰٓ[to]أُمِّ(the) motherمُوسَىٰٓ(of) MusaأَنْthatأَرْضِعِيهِSuckle himفَإِذَاbut whenخِفْتِyou fearعَلَيْهِfor himفَأَلْقِيهِthen cast himفِىin(to)ٱلْيَمِّthe riverوَلَاand (do) notتَخَافِىfearوَلَاand (do) notتَحْزَنِىٓgrieveإِنَّاIndeed, Weرَآدُّوهُ(will) restore himإِلَيْكِto youوَجَاعِلُوهُand (will) make himمِنَofٱلْمُرْسَلِينَthe Messengers7
فَٱلْتَقَطَهُۥٓThen picked him upءَالُ(the) familyفِرْعَوْنَ(of) Firaunلِيَكُونَso that he might becomeلَهُمْto themعَدُوًّاan enemyوَحَزَنًاand a griefإِنَّIndeedفِرْعَوْنَFiraunوَهَٰمَٰنَand Hamanوَجُنُودَهُمَاand their hostsكَانُوا۟wereخَٰطِـِٔينَsinners8
وَقَالَتِAnd saidٱمْرَأَتُ(the) wifeفِرْعَوْنَ(of) FiraunقُرَّتُA comfortعَيْنٍ(of the) eyeلِّىfor meوَلَكَand for youلَا(Do) notتَقْتُلُوهُkill himعَسَىٰٓperhapsأَن(that)يَنفَعَنَآhe may benefit usأَوْorنَتَّخِذَهُۥwe may take himوَلَدًا(as) a sonوَهُمْAnd theyلَا(did) notيَشْعُرُونَperceive9
وَأَصْبَحَAnd becameفُؤَادُ(the) heartأُمِّ(of the) motherمُوسَىٰ(of) MusaفَٰرِغًاemptyإِنThatكَادَتْshe was nearلَتُبْدِى(to) disclosingبِهِۦabout himلَوْلَآif notأَنthatرَّبَطْنَاWe strengthenedعَلَىٰ[over]قَلْبِهَاher heartلِتَكُونَso that she would beمِنَofٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَthe believers10
وَقَالَتْAnd she saidلِأُخْتِهِۦto his sisterقُصِّيهِFollow himفَبَصُرَتْSo she watchedبِهِۦhimعَنfromجُنُبٍa distanceوَهُمْwhile theyلَا(did) notيَشْعُرُونَperceive11
وَحَرَّمْنَاAnd We had forbiddenعَلَيْهِfor himٱلْمَرَاضِعَthe wet nursesمِنbeforeقَبْلُbeforeفَقَالَتْso she saidهَلْShall Iأَدُلُّكُمْdirect youعَلَىٰٓtoأَهْلِ(the) peopleبَيْتٍ(of) a houseيَكْفُلُونَهُۥwho will rear himلَكُمْfor youوَهُمْwhile theyلَهُۥto himنَٰصِحُونَ(will be) sincere12
فَرَدَدْنَٰهُSo We restored himإِلَىٰٓtoأُمِّهِۦhis motherكَىْthatتَقَرَّmight be comfortedعَيْنُهَاher eyeوَلَاand notتَحْزَنَshe may grieveوَلِتَعْلَمَand that she would knowأَنَّthatوَعْدَthe Promise of Allahٱللَّهِthe Promise of Allahحَقٌّ(is) trueوَلَٰكِنَّButأَكْثَرَهُمْmost of themلَا(do) notيَعْلَمُونَknow13
وَلَمَّاAnd whenبَلَغَhe reachedأَشُدَّهُۥhis full strengthوَٱسْتَوَىٰٓand became matureءَاتَيْنَٰهُWe bestowed upon himحُكْمًاwisdomوَعِلْمًاand knowledgeوَكَذَٰلِكَAnd thusنَجْزِىWe rewardٱلْمُحْسِنِينَthe good-doers14
وَدَخَلَAnd he enteredٱلْمَدِينَةَthe cityعَلَىٰatحِينِa timeغَفْلَةٍ(of) inattentionمِّنْofأَهْلِهَاits peopleفَوَجَدَand foundفِيهَاthereinرَجُلَيْنِtwo menيَقْتَتِلَانِfighting each otherهَٰذَاthisمِنofشِيعَتِهِۦhis partyوَهَٰذَاand thisمِنْofعَدُوِّهِۦhis enemyفَٱسْتَغَٰثَهُAnd called him for helpٱلَّذِىthe one whoمِن(was) fromشِيعَتِهِۦhis partyعَلَىagainstٱلَّذِىthe one whoمِنْ(was) fromعَدُوِّهِۦhis enemyفَوَكَزَهُۥso Musa struck him with his fistمُوسَىٰso Musa struck him with his fistفَقَضَىٰand killed himعَلَيْهِand killed himقَالَHe saidهَٰذَاThis (is)مِنْofعَمَلِ(the) deedٱلشَّيْطَٰنِ(of) ShaitaanإِنَّهُۥIndeed, heعَدُوٌّ(is) an enemy مُّضِلٌّone who misleadsمُّبِينٌclearly15
قَالَHe saidرَبِّMy LordإِنِّىIndeed, Iظَلَمْتُ[I] have wrongedنَفْسِىmy soulفَٱغْفِرْso forgiveلِى[for] meفَغَفَرَThen He forgaveلَهُۥٓ[for] himإِنَّهُۥIndeed HeهُوَHe (is)ٱلْغَفُورُthe Oft-Forgivingٱلرَّحِيمُthe Most Merciful16
قَالَHe saidرَبِّMy LordبِمَآBecauseأَنْعَمْتَYou have favoredعَلَىَّ[on] meفَلَنْso notأَكُونَI will beظَهِيرًاa supporterلِّلْمُجْرِمِينَ(of) the criminals17
فَأَصْبَحَIn the morning he wasفِىinٱلْمَدِينَةِthe cityخَآئِفًاfearfulيَتَرَقَّبُ(and) was vigilantفَإِذَاwhen beholdٱلَّذِىThe one whoٱسْتَنصَرَهُۥsought his helpبِٱلْأَمْسِthe previous dayيَسْتَصْرِخُهُۥcried out to him for helpقَالَSaidلَهُۥto himمُوسَىٰٓMusaإِنَّكَIndeed, youلَغَوِىٌّ(are) surely a deviatorمُّبِينٌclear18
فَلَمَّآThen whenأَنْ[that]أَرَادَhe wantedأَنtoيَبْطِشَstrikeبِٱلَّذِىthe one whoهُوَ[he] (was)عَدُوٌّan enemyلَّهُمَاto both of themقَالَhe saidيَٰمُوسَىٰٓO MusaأَتُرِيدُDo you intendأَنtoتَقْتُلَنِىkill meكَمَاasقَتَلْتَyou killedنَفْسًۢاa personبِٱلْأَمْسِyesterdayإِنNotتُرِيدُyou wantإِلَّآbutأَنthatتَكُونَyou becomeجَبَّارًاa tyrantفِىinٱلْأَرْضِthe earthوَمَاand notتُرِيدُyou wantأَنthatتَكُونَyou beمِنَofٱلْمُصْلِحِينَthe reformers19
وَجَآءَAnd cameرَجُلٌa manمِّنْfromأَقْصَا(the) farthest endٱلْمَدِينَةِ(of) the cityيَسْعَىٰrunningقَالَHe saidيَٰمُوسَىٰٓO MusaإِنَّIndeedٱلْمَلَأَthe chiefsيَأْتَمِرُونَare taking counselبِكَabout youلِيَقْتُلُوكَto kill youفَٱخْرُجْso leaveإِنِّىindeed, I amلَكَto youمِنَofٱلنَّٰصِحِينَthe sincere advisors20
فَخَرَجَSo he leftمِنْهَاfrom itخَآئِفًاfearingيَتَرَقَّبُ(and) vigilantقَالَHe saidرَبِّMy LordنَجِّنِىSave meمِنَfromٱلْقَوْمِthe people ٱلظَّٰلِمِينَthe wrongdoers21
وَلَمَّاAnd whenتَوَجَّهَhe turned his faceتِلْقَآءَtowardsمَدْيَنَMadyanقَالَhe saidعَسَىٰPerhapsرَبِّىٓmy Lordأَن[that]يَهْدِيَنِىwill guide meسَوَآءَ(to the) soundٱلسَّبِيلِway22
وَلَمَّاAnd whenوَرَدَhe cameمَآءَ(to the) waterمَدْيَنَ(of) Madyanوَجَدَhe foundعَلَيْهِon itأُمَّةًa groupمِّنَofٱلنَّاسِmenيَسْقُونَwateringوَوَجَدَand he foundمِنbesides themدُونِهِمُbesides themٱمْرَأَتَيْنِtwo womenتَذُودَانِkeeping backقَالَHe saidمَاWhatخَطْبُكُمَا(is the) matter with both of youقَالَتَاThey saidلَاWe cannot waterنَسْقِىWe cannot waterحَتَّىٰuntilيُصْدِرَtake awayٱلرِّعَآءُthe shepherdsوَأَبُونَاand our fatherشَيْخٌ(is) a very old manكَبِيرٌ(is) a very old man23
فَسَقَىٰSo he wateredلَهُمَاfor themثُمَّThenتَوَلَّىٰٓhe turned backإِلَىtoٱلظِّلِّthe shadeفَقَالَand saidرَبِّMy LordإِنِّىIndeed, I amلِمَآof whateverأَنزَلْتَYou sendإِلَىَّto meمِنْofخَيْرٍgoodفَقِيرٌ(in) need24
فَجَآءَتْهُThen came to himإِحْدَىٰهُمَاone of the two womenتَمْشِىwalkingعَلَىwithٱسْتِحْيَآءٍshynessقَالَتْShe saidإِنَّIndeedأَبِىmy fatherيَدْعُوكَcalls youلِيَجْزِيَكَthat he may reward youأَجْرَ(the) rewardمَا(for) whatسَقَيْتَyou wateredلَنَاfor usفَلَمَّاSo whenجَآءَهُۥhe came to himوَقَصَّand narratedعَلَيْهِto himٱلْقَصَصَthe storyقَالَhe saidلَا(Do) notتَخَفْfearنَجَوْتَYou have escapedمِنَfromٱلْقَوْمِthe people ٱلظَّٰلِمِينَthe wrongdoers25
قَالَتْSaidإِحْدَىٰهُمَاone of themيَٰٓأَبَتِO my fatherٱسْتَـْٔجِرْهُHire himإِنَّIndeedخَيْرَ(the) bestمَنِwhomٱسْتَـْٔجَرْتَyou (can) hireٱلْقَوِىُّ(is) the strongٱلْأَمِينُthe trustworthy26
قَالَHe saidإِنِّىٓIndeed, Iأُرِيدُ[I] wishأَنْtoأُنكِحَكَmarry you toإِحْدَىoneٱبْنَتَىَّ(of) my daughtersهَٰتَيْنِ(of) these twoعَلَىٰٓonأَنthatتَأْجُرَنِىyou serve meثَمَٰنِىَ(for) eightحِجَجٍyearsفَإِنْbut ifأَتْمَمْتَyou completeعَشْرًاtenفَمِنْthen fromعِندِكَyouوَمَآAnd notأُرِيدُI wishأَنْtoأَشُقَّmake it difficultعَلَيْكَfor youسَتَجِدُنِىٓYou will find meإِنifشَآءَAllah willsٱللَّهُAllah willsمِنَofٱلصَّٰلِحِينَthe righteous27
قَالَHe saidذَٰلِكَThatبَيْنِى(is) between meوَبَيْنَكَand between youأَيَّمَاWhicheverٱلْأَجَلَيْنِ(of) the two termsقَضَيْتُI completeفَلَاthen noعُدْوَٰنَinjusticeعَلَىَّto meوَٱللَّهُand Allahعَلَىٰoverمَاwhatنَقُولُwe sayوَكِيلٌ(is) a Witness28
فَلَمَّاThen whenقَضَىٰMusa fulfilledمُوسَىMusa fulfilledٱلْأَجَلَthe termوَسَارَand was travelingبِأَهْلِهِۦٓwith his familyءَانَسَhe sawمِنinجَانِبِ(the) directionٱلطُّورِ(of) Mount Turنَارًاa fireقَالَHe saidلِأَهْلِهِto his familyٱمْكُثُوٓا۟Stay hereإِنِّىٓindeed, Iءَانَسْتُ[I] perceiveنَارًاa fireلَّعَلِّىٓPerhapsءَاتِيكُمI will bring youمِّنْهَاfrom thereبِخَبَرٍsome informationأَوْorجَذْوَةٍa burning woodمِّنَfromٱلنَّارِthe fireلَعَلَّكُمْso that you mayتَصْطَلُونَwarm yourselves29
فَلَمَّآBut whenأَتَىٰهَاhe came (to) itنُودِىَhe was calledمِنfromشَٰطِئِ(the) sideٱلْوَادِ(of) the valley ٱلْأَيْمَنِthe rightفِىinٱلْبُقْعَةِthe place evenٱلْمُبَٰرَكَةِblessedمِنَfromٱلشَّجَرَةِthe treeأَنthatيَٰمُوسَىٰٓO MusaإِنِّىٓIndeedأَنَاI AmٱللَّهُAllahرَبُّ(the) Lordٱلْعَٰلَمِينَ(of) the worlds30
وَأَنْAnd [that]أَلْقِthrowعَصَاكَyour staffفَلَمَّاBut whenرَءَاهَاhe saw itتَهْتَزُّmovingكَأَنَّهَاas if itجَآنٌّ(were) a snakeوَلَّىٰhe turnedمُدْبِرًا(in) flightوَلَمْand (did) notيُعَقِّبْreturnيَٰمُوسَىٰٓO MusaأَقْبِلْDraw nearوَلَاand (do) notتَخَفْfearإِنَّكَIndeed, youمِنَ(are) ofٱلْءَامِنِينَthe secure31
ٱسْلُكْInsertيَدَكَyour handفِىinجَيْبِكَyour bosomتَخْرُجْit will come forthبَيْضَآءَwhiteمِنْwithoutغَيْرِwithoutسُوٓءٍany harmوَٱضْمُمْAnd drawإِلَيْكَto yourselvesجَنَاحَكَyour handمِنَagainstٱلرَّهْبِfearفَذَٰنِكَSo theseبُرْهَٰنَانِ(are) two evidencesمِنfromرَّبِّكَyour LordإِلَىٰtoفِرْعَوْنَFiraunوَمَلَإِي۟هِۦٓand his chiefsإِنَّهُمْIndeed, theyكَانُوا۟areقَوْمًاa peopleفَٰسِقِينَdefiantly disobedient32
قَالَHe saidرَبِّMy LordإِنِّىIndeedقَتَلْتُI killedمِنْهُمْof themنَفْسًاa manفَأَخَافُand I fearأَنthatيَقْتُلُونِthey will kill me33
وَأَخِىAnd my brotherهَٰرُونُHarunهُوَheأَفْصَحُ(is) more eloquentمِنِّىthan meلِسَانًا(in) speechفَأَرْسِلْهُso send himمَعِىَwith meرِدْءًا(as) a helperيُصَدِّقُنِىٓwho will confirm meإِنِّىٓIndeedأَخَافُI fearأَنthatيُكَذِّبُونِthey will deny me34
قَالَHe saidسَنَشُدُّWe will strengthenعَضُدَكَyour armبِأَخِيكَthrough your brotherوَنَجْعَلُand We will makeلَكُمَاfor both of youسُلْطَٰنًاan authorityفَلَاso notيَصِلُونَthey will reachإِلَيْكُمَاto both of youبِـَٔايَٰتِنَآThrough Our Signsأَنتُمَاyou twoوَمَنِand (those) whoٱتَّبَعَكُمَاfollow youٱلْغَٰلِبُونَ(will) be the dominant35
فَلَمَّاBut whenجَآءَهُمcame to themمُّوسَىٰMusaبِـَٔايَٰتِنَاwith Our Signsبَيِّنَٰتٍclearقَالُوا۟they saidمَاNotهَٰذَآ(is) thisإِلَّاexceptسِحْرٌa magicمُّفْتَرًىinventedوَمَاand notسَمِعْنَاwe heardبِهَٰذَاof thisفِىٓamongءَابَآئِنَاour forefathersٱلْأَوَّلِينَour forefathers36
وَقَالَAnd Musa saidمُوسَىٰAnd Musa saidرَبِّىٓMy Lordأَعْلَمُknows bestبِمَنof whoجَآءَhas comeبِٱلْهُدَىٰwith [the] guidanceمِنْfrom Himعِندِهِۦfrom Himوَمَنand who تَكُونُwill beلَهُۥfor himعَٰقِبَةُthe good end in the Hereafterٱلدَّارِthe good end in the HereafterإِنَّهُۥIndeedلَاnotيُفْلِحُwill be successfulٱلظَّٰلِمُونَthe wrongdoers37
وَقَالَAnd Firaun saidفِرْعَوْنُAnd Firaun saidيَٰٓأَيُّهَاO chiefsٱلْمَلَأُO chiefsمَاNotعَلِمْتُI knowلَكُمfor youمِّنْanyإِلَٰهٍgodغَيْرِىother than meفَأَوْقِدْSo kindleلِىfor meيَٰهَٰمَٰنُO HamanعَلَىUponٱلطِّينِthe clayفَٱجْعَلand makeلِّىfor meصَرْحًاa lofty towerلَّعَلِّىٓso that [I]أَطَّلِعُI may lookإِلَىٰٓatإِلَٰهِ(the) Godمُوسَىٰ(of) MusaوَإِنِّىAnd indeed, Iلَأَظُنُّهُۥ[I] think that heمِنَ(is) ofٱلْكَٰذِبِينَthe liars38
وَٱسْتَكْبَرَAnd he was arrogantهُوَAnd he was arrogantوَجُنُودُهُۥand his hostsفِىinٱلْأَرْضِthe landبِغَيْرِwithoutٱلْحَقِّrightوَظَنُّوٓا۟and they thoughtأَنَّهُمْthat theyإِلَيْنَاto Usلَاnotيُرْجَعُونَwill be returned39
فَأَخَذْنَٰهُSo We seized himوَجُنُودَهُۥand his hostsفَنَبَذْنَٰهُمْand We threw themفِىinٱلْيَمِّthe seaفَٱنظُرْSo seeكَيْفَhowكَانَwasعَٰقِبَةُ(the) endٱلظَّٰلِمِينَ(of) the wrongdoers40
وَجَعَلْنَٰهُمْAnd We made themأَئِمَّةًleadersيَدْعُونَinvitingإِلَىtoٱلنَّارِthe Fireوَيَوْمَand (on the) Dayٱلْقِيَٰمَةِ(of) the Resurrectionلَاnotيُنصَرُونَthey will be helped41
وَأَتْبَعْنَٰهُمْAnd We caused to follow themفِىinهَٰذِهِthisٱلدُّنْيَاworldلَعْنَةًa curseوَيَوْمَand (on the) Dayٱلْقِيَٰمَةِ(of) the Resurrectionهُمtheyمِّنَ(will be) ofٱلْمَقْبُوحِينَthe despised42
وَلَقَدْAnd verilyءَاتَيْنَاWe gaveمُوسَىMusaٱلْكِتَٰبَthe Scriptureمِنۢafter [what]بَعْدِafter [what]مَآafter [what]أَهْلَكْنَاWe had destroyedٱلْقُرُونَthe generationsٱلْأُولَىٰformerبَصَآئِرَ(as) an enlightenmentلِلنَّاسِfor the mankindوَهُدًىand a guidanceوَرَحْمَةًand mercyلَّعَلَّهُمْthat they mayيَتَذَكَّرُونَremember43
وَمَاAnd notكُنتَyou wereبِجَانِبِon (the) sideٱلْغَرْبِىِّwesternإِذْwhenقَضَيْنَآWe decreedإِلَىٰtoمُوسَىMusaٱلْأَمْرَthe Commandmentوَمَاand notكُنتَyou wereمِنَamongٱلشَّٰهِدِينَthe witnesses44
وَلَٰكِنَّآBut Weأَنشَأْنَا[We] producedقُرُونًاgenerationsفَتَطَاوَلَand prolongedعَلَيْهِمُfor themٱلْعُمُرُthe lifeوَمَاAnd notكُنتَyou wereثَاوِيًاa dwellerفِىٓamongأَهْلِ(the) peopleمَدْيَنَ(of) Madyanتَتْلُوا۟recitingعَلَيْهِمْto themءَايَٰتِنَاOur Versesوَلَٰكِنَّاbut Weكُنَّا[We] wereمُرْسِلِينَthe Senders45
وَمَاAnd notكُنتَyou wereبِجَانِبِat (the) sideٱلطُّورِ(of) the TurإِذْwhenنَادَيْنَاWe calledوَلَٰكِنButرَّحْمَةً(as) a mercyمِّنfromرَّبِّكَyour Lordلِتُنذِرَso that you warnقَوْمًاa peopleمَّآnotأَتَىٰهُم(had) come to themمِّنanyنَّذِيرٍwarnerمِّنbefore youقَبْلِكَbefore youلَعَلَّهُمْso that they mayيَتَذَكَّرُونَremember46
وَلَوْلَآAnd if notأَن[that]تُصِيبَهُمstruck themمُّصِيبَةٌۢa disasterبِمَاfor whatقَدَّمَتْhad sent forthأَيْدِيهِمْtheir handsفَيَقُولُوا۟and they would sayرَبَّنَاOur LordلَوْلَآWhy notأَرْسَلْتَYou sentإِلَيْنَاto usرَسُولًاa Messengerفَنَتَّبِعَso we (could have) followedءَايَٰتِكَYour Versesوَنَكُونَand we (would) have beenمِنَofٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَthe believers47
فَلَمَّاBut whenجَآءَهُمُcame to themٱلْحَقُّthe truthمِنْfrom Usعِندِنَاfrom Usقَالُوا۟they saidلَوْلَآWhy notأُوتِىَhe was givenمِثْلَ(the) likeمَآ(of) whatأُوتِىَwas givenمُوسَىٰٓ(to) MusaأَوَلَمْDid notيَكْفُرُوا۟they disbelieveبِمَآin whatأُوتِىَwas givenمُوسَىٰ(to) Musaمِنbeforeقَبْلُbeforeقَالُوا۟They saidسِحْرَانِTwo magic (works)تَظَٰهَرَاsupporting each otherوَقَالُوٓا۟And they saidإِنَّاIndeed, weبِكُلٍّin allكَٰفِرُونَ(are) disbelievers48
قُلْSayفَأْتُوا۟Then bringبِكِتَٰبٍa Bookمِّنْfrom Allahعِندِfrom Allahٱللَّهِfrom Allahهُوَwhichأَهْدَىٰ(is) a better guideمِنْهُمَآthan both of themأَتَّبِعْهُthat I may follow itإِنifكُنتُمْyou areصَٰدِقِينَtruthful49
فَإِنBut ifلَّمْnotيَسْتَجِيبُوا۟they respondلَكَto youفَٱعْلَمْthen knowأَنَّمَاthat onlyيَتَّبِعُونَthey followأَهْوَآءَهُمْtheir desiresوَمَنْAnd whoأَضَلُّ(is) more astrayمِمَّنِthan (one) whoٱتَّبَعَfollowsهَوَىٰهُhis own desireبِغَيْرِwithoutهُدًىguidanceمِّنَfromٱللَّهِAllahإِنَّIndeedٱللَّهَAllahلَا(does) notيَهْدِىguideٱلْقَوْمَthe people ٱلظَّٰلِمِينَthe wrongdoers50
وَلَقَدْAnd indeedوَصَّلْنَاWe have conveyedلَهُمُto themٱلْقَوْلَthe Wordلَعَلَّهُمْso that they mayيَتَذَكَّرُونَremember51
ٱلَّذِينَThose whoءَاتَيْنَٰهُمُWe gave themٱلْكِتَٰبَthe Scriptureمِنbefore itقَبْلِهِۦbefore itهُمtheyبِهِۦin itيُؤْمِنُونَbelieve52
وَإِذَاAnd whenيُتْلَىٰit is recitedعَلَيْهِمْto themقَالُوٓا۟they sayءَامَنَّاWe believeبِهِۦٓin itإِنَّهُIndeed, itٱلْحَقُّ(is) the truthمِنfromرَّبِّنَآour LordإِنَّاIndeed, weكُنَّا[we] wereمِنbefore itقَبْلِهِۦbefore itمُسْلِمِينَMuslims53
أُو۟لَٰٓئِكَThoseيُؤْتَوْنَwill be givenأَجْرَهُمtheir rewardمَّرَّتَيْنِtwiceبِمَاbecauseصَبَرُوا۟they are patientوَيَدْرَءُونَand they repelبِٱلْحَسَنَةِwith good ٱلسَّيِّئَةَthe evilوَمِمَّاand from whatرَزَقْنَٰهُمْWe have provided themيُنفِقُونَthey spend54
وَإِذَاAnd whenسَمِعُوا۟they hearٱللَّغْوَvain talkأَعْرَضُوا۟they turn awayعَنْهُfrom itوَقَالُوا۟and sayلَنَآFor usأَعْمَٰلُنَاour deedsوَلَكُمْand for youأَعْمَٰلُكُمْyour deedsسَلَٰمٌPeace (be)عَلَيْكُمْon youلَاnotنَبْتَغِىwe seekٱلْجَٰهِلِينَthe ignorant55
إِنَّكَIndeed, youلَا(can) notتَهْدِىguideمَنْwhomأَحْبَبْتَyou loveوَلَٰكِنَّbutٱللَّهَAllahيَهْدِىguidesمَنwhomيَشَآءُHe willsوَهُوَAnd Heأَعْلَمُ(is) most knowingبِٱلْمُهْتَدِينَ(of) the guided ones56
وَقَالُوٓا۟And they sayإِنIfنَّتَّبِعِwe followٱلْهُدَىٰthe guidanceمَعَكَwith youنُتَخَطَّفْwe would be sweptمِنْfromأَرْضِنَآour landأَوَلَمْHave notنُمَكِّنWe establishedلَّهُمْfor themحَرَمًاa sanctuaryءَامِنًاsecureيُجْبَىٰٓare broughtإِلَيْهِto itثَمَرَٰتُfruitsكُلِّ(of) allشَىْءٍthingsرِّزْقًاa provisionمِّنfromلَّدُنَّاUsوَلَٰكِنَّButأَكْثَرَهُمْmost of themلَا(do) notيَعْلَمُونَknow57
وَكَمْAnd how manyأَهْلَكْنَاWe have destroyedمِنofقَرْيَةٍۢa townبَطِرَتْwhich exultedمَعِيشَتَهَا(in) its means of livelihoodفَتِلْكَAnd theseمَسَٰكِنُهُمْ(are) their dwellingsلَمْnotتُسْكَنhave been inhabitedمِّنۢafter themبَعْدِهِمْafter themإِلَّاexceptقَلِيلًاa littleوَكُنَّاAnd indeed, [We]نَحْنُWeٱلْوَٰرِثِينَ(are) the inheritors58
وَمَاAnd notكَانَwasرَبُّكَyour Lordمُهْلِكَ(the) one to destroyٱلْقُرَىٰthe townsحَتَّىٰuntilيَبْعَثَHe (had) sentفِىٓinأُمِّهَاtheir mother (town)رَسُولًاa Messengerيَتْلُوا۟recitingعَلَيْهِمْto themءَايَٰتِنَاOur VersesوَمَاAnd notكُنَّاWe would beمُهْلِكِى(the) one to destroyٱلْقُرَىٰٓthe townsإِلَّاexceptوَأَهْلُهَاwhile their peopleظَٰلِمُونَ(were) wrongdoers59
وَمَآAnd whateverأُوتِيتُمyou have been givenمِّنfromشَىْءٍthingsفَمَتَٰعُ(is) an enjoymentٱلْحَيَوٰةِ(of the) lifeٱلدُّنْيَا(of) the worldوَزِينَتُهَاand its adornmentوَمَاAnd whatعِندَ(is) withٱللَّهِAllahخَيْرٌ(is) betterوَأَبْقَىٰٓand more lastingأَفَلَاSo (will) notتَعْقِلُونَyou use intellect60
أَفَمَنThen is (he) whomوَعَدْنَٰهُWe have promised himوَعْدًاa promiseحَسَنًاgoodفَهُوَand heلَٰقِيهِ(will) meet itكَمَنlike (the one) whomمَّتَّعْنَٰهُWe provided himمَتَٰعَenjoymentٱلْحَيَوٰةِ(of the) lifeٱلدُّنْيَا(of) the worldثُمَّthenهُوَheيَوْمَ(on the) Dayٱلْقِيَٰمَةِ(of) the Resurrectionمِنَ(will be) amongٱلْمُحْضَرِينَthose presented61
وَيَوْمَAnd (the) DayيُنَادِيهِمْHe will call themفَيَقُولُand sayأَيْنَWhereشُرَكَآءِىَ(are) My partnersٱلَّذِينَwhomكُنتُمْyou used (to)تَزْعُمُونَclaim62
قَالَ(Will) sayٱلَّذِينَthose حَقَّ(has) come trueعَلَيْهِمُagainst whomٱلْقَوْلُthe WordرَبَّنَاOur LordهَٰٓؤُلَآءِTheseٱلَّذِينَ(are) those whomأَغْوَيْنَآwe led astrayأَغْوَيْنَٰهُمْWe led them astrayكَمَاasغَوَيْنَاwe were astrayتَبَرَّأْنَآWe declare our innocenceإِلَيْكَbefore YouمَاNotكَانُوٓا۟they used (to)إِيَّانَاworship usيَعْبُدُونَworship us63
وَقِيلَAnd it will be saidٱدْعُوا۟Callشُرَكَآءَكُمْyour partnersفَدَعَوْهُمْAnd they will call themفَلَمْbut notيَسْتَجِيبُوا۟they will respondلَهُمْto themوَرَأَوُا۟and they will seeٱلْعَذَابَthe punishmentلَوْIf onlyأَنَّهُمْ[that] theyكَانُوا۟had beenيَهْتَدُونَguided64
وَيَوْمَAnd (the) DayيُنَادِيهِمْHe will call themفَيَقُولُand sayمَاذَآWhatأَجَبْتُمُdid you answerٱلْمُرْسَلِينَthe Messengers65
فَعَمِيَتْBut (will) be obscureعَلَيْهِمُto themٱلْأَنۢبَآءُthe informationيَوْمَئِذٍthat dayفَهُمْso theyلَاwill not ask one anotherيَتَسَآءَلُونَwill not ask one another66
فَأَمَّاBut as forمَن(him) whoتَابَrepentedوَءَامَنَand believedوَعَمِلَand didصَٰلِحًاrighteousnessفَعَسَىٰٓthen perhapsأَن[that]يَكُونَhe will beمِنَofٱلْمُفْلِحِينَthe successful ones67
وَرَبُّكَAnd your LordيَخْلُقُcreatesمَاwhatيَشَآءُHe willsوَيَخْتَارُand choosesمَاNotكَانَthey haveلَهُمُfor themٱلْخِيَرَةُthe choiceسُبْحَٰنَGlory beٱللَّهِ(to) Allahوَتَعَٰلَىٰand High is Heعَمَّاabove whatيُشْرِكُونَthey associate (with Him)68
وَرَبُّكَAnd your Lordيَعْلَمُknowsمَاwhatتُكِنُّconcealsصُدُورُهُمْtheir breastsوَمَاand whatيُعْلِنُونَthey declare69
وَهُوَAnd Heٱللَّهُ(is) Allahلَآ(there is) noإِلَٰهَgodإِلَّاbutهُوَHeلَهُTo Himٱلْحَمْدُ(are due) all praisesفِىinٱلْأُولَىٰthe firstوَٱلْءَاخِرَةِand the lastوَلَهُAnd for Himٱلْحُكْمُ(is) the Decisionوَإِلَيْهِand to Himتُرْجَعُونَyou will be returned70
قُلْSayأَرَءَيْتُمْHave you seenإِنifجَعَلَAllah madeٱللَّهُAllah madeعَلَيْكُمُfor youٱلَّيْلَthe nightسَرْمَدًاcontinuousإِلَىٰtillيَوْمِ(the) Dayٱلْقِيَٰمَةِ(of) the Resurrectionمَنْwhoإِلَٰهٌ(is the) godغَيْرُbesidesٱللَّهِAllahيَأْتِيكُمwho could bring youبِضِيَآءٍlightأَفَلَاThen will notتَسْمَعُونَyou hear71
قُلْSayأَرَءَيْتُمْHave you seenإِنifجَعَلَAllah madeٱللَّهُAllah madeعَلَيْكُمُfor youٱلنَّهَارَthe dayسَرْمَدًاcontinuousإِلَىٰtillيَوْمِ(the) Dayٱلْقِيَٰمَةِ(of) the Resurrectionمَنْwhoإِلَٰهٌ(is the) godغَيْرُbesidesٱللَّهِAllahيَأْتِيكُمwho could bring youبِلَيْلٍnightتَسْكُنُونَ(for) you (to) restفِيهِin itأَفَلَاThen will notتُبْصِرُونَyou see72
وَمِنAnd fromرَّحْمَتِهِۦHis MercyجَعَلَHe madeلَكُمُfor youٱلَّيْلَthe nightوَٱلنَّهَارَand the dayلِتَسْكُنُوا۟that you may restفِيهِthereinوَلِتَبْتَغُوا۟and that you may seekمِنfromفَضْلِهِۦHis Bountyوَلَعَلَّكُمْand so that you mayتَشْكُرُونَbe grateful73
وَيَوْمَAnd (the) DayيُنَادِيهِمْHe will call themفَيَقُولُand sayأَيْنَWhereشُرَكَآءِىَ(are) My partnersٱلَّذِينَwhomكُنتُمْyou used (to)تَزْعُمُونَclaim74
وَنَزَعْنَاAnd We will draw forthمِنfromكُلِّeveryأُمَّةٍnationشَهِيدًاa witnessفَقُلْنَاand We will sayهَاتُوا۟Bringبُرْهَٰنَكُمْyour proofفَعَلِمُوٓا۟Then they will knowأَنَّthatٱلْحَقَّthe truthلِلَّهِ(is) for Allahوَضَلَّand (will be) lostعَنْهُمfrom themمَّاwhatكَانُوا۟they used (to)يَفْتَرُونَinvent75
إِنَّIndeedقَٰرُونَQarunكَانَwasمِنfromقَوْمِ(the) peopleمُوسَىٰ(of) Musaفَبَغَىٰbut he oppressedعَلَيْهِمْ[on] themوَءَاتَيْنَٰهُAnd We gave himمِنَofٱلْكُنُوزِthe treasuresمَآwhichإِنَّindeedمَفَاتِحَهُۥ(the) keys of itلَتَنُوٓأُwould burdenبِٱلْعُصْبَةِa company (of men)أُو۟لِىpossessors of great strengthٱلْقُوَّةِpossessors of great strengthإِذْWhenقَالَsaidلَهُۥto himقَوْمُهُۥhis peopleلَا(Do) notتَفْرَحْexultإِنَّIndeedٱللَّهَAllahلَا(does) notيُحِبُّloveٱلْفَرِحِينَthe exultant76
وَٱبْتَغِBut seekفِيمَآthrough whatءَاتَىٰكَAllah has given youٱللَّهُAllah has given youٱلدَّارَthe homeٱلْءَاخِرَةَ(of) the Hereafterوَلَاand (do) notتَنسَforgetنَصِيبَكَyour shareمِنَofٱلدُّنْيَاthe worldوَأَحْسِنAnd do goodكَمَآasأَحْسَنَAllah has been goodٱللَّهُAllah has been goodإِلَيْكَto youوَلَاAnd (do) notتَبْغِseekٱلْفَسَادَcorruptionفِىinٱلْأَرْضِthe earthإِنَّIndeedٱللَّهَAllahلَا(does) notيُحِبُّloveٱلْمُفْسِدِينَthe corrupters77
قَالَHe saidإِنَّمَآOnlyأُوتِيتُهُۥI have been given itعَلَىٰon (account)عِلْمٍ(of) knowledgeعِندِىٓI haveأَوَلَمْDid notيَعْلَمْhe knowأَنَّthatٱللَّهَAllahقَدْindeedأَهْلَكَdestroyedمِنbefore himقَبْلِهِۦbefore himمِنَofٱلْقُرُونِthe generationsمَنْwhoهُوَ[they]أَشَدُّ(were) strongerمِنْهُthan himقُوَّةً(in) strengthوَأَكْثَرُand greaterجَمْعًا(in) accumulationوَلَاAnd notيُسْـَٔلُwill be questionedعَنaboutذُنُوبِهِمُtheir sinsٱلْمُجْرِمُونَthe criminals78
فَخَرَجَSo he went forthعَلَىٰtoقَوْمِهِۦhis peopleفِىinزِينَتِهِۦhis adornmentقَالَSaidٱلَّذِينَthose whoيُرِيدُونَdesireٱلْحَيَوٰةَthe lifeٱلدُّنْيَا(of) the worldيَٰلَيْتَO! Would thatلَنَاfor usمِثْلَ(the) likeمَآ(of) whatأُوتِىَhas been givenقَٰرُونُ(to) QarunإِنَّهُۥIndeed, heلَذُو(is the) ownerحَظٍّ(of) fortuneعَظِيمٍgreat79
وَقَالَBut saidٱلَّذِينَthose whoأُوتُوا۟were givenٱلْعِلْمَthe knowledgeوَيْلَكُمْWoe to youثَوَابُ(The) rewardٱللَّهِ(of) Allahخَيْرٌ(is) betterلِّمَنْfor (he) whoءَامَنَbelievesوَعَمِلَand doesصَٰلِحًاrighteous (deeds)وَلَاAnd notيُلَقَّىٰهَآit is grantedإِلَّاexceptٱلصَّٰبِرُونَ(to) the patient ones80
فَخَسَفْنَاThen We caused to swallow upبِهِۦhimوَبِدَارِهِand his homeٱلْأَرْضَthe earthفَمَاThen notكَانَwasلَهُۥfor himمِنanyفِئَةٍgroupيَنصُرُونَهُۥ(to) help himمِنbesidesدُونِbesidesٱللَّهِAllahوَمَاand notكَانَwasمِنَ(he) ofٱلْمُنتَصِرِينَthose who (could) defend themselves81
وَأَصْبَحَAnd beganٱلَّذِينَthose whoتَمَنَّوْا۟(had) wishedمَكَانَهُۥhis positionبِٱلْأَمْسِthe day beforeيَقُولُونَ(to) sayوَيْكَأَنَّAh! ThatٱللَّهَAllahيَبْسُطُextendsٱلرِّزْقَthe provisionلِمَنfor whomيَشَآءُHe willsمِنْofعِبَادِهِۦHis slavesوَيَقْدِرُand restricts itلَوْلَآIf notأَنthatمَّنَّAllah had favoredٱللَّهُAllah had favoredعَلَيْنَا[to] usلَخَسَفَHe would have caused it to swallow usبِنَاHe would have caused it to swallow usوَيْكَأَنَّهُۥAh! Thatلَاnotيُفْلِحُwill succeedٱلْكَٰفِرُونَthe disbelievers82
تِلْكَThatٱلدَّارُthe Homeٱلْءَاخِرَةُ(of) the HereafterنَجْعَلُهَاWe assign itلِلَّذِينَto those whoلَا(do) notيُرِيدُونَdesireعُلُوًّاexaltednessفِىinٱلْأَرْضِthe earthوَلَاand notفَسَادًاcorruptionوَٱلْعَٰقِبَةُAnd the good endلِلْمُتَّقِينَ(is) for the righteous83
مَنWhoeverجَآءَcomesبِٱلْحَسَنَةِwith a good (deed)فَلَهُۥthen for himخَيْرٌ(will be) betterمِّنْهَاthan itوَمَنand whoeverجَآءَcomesبِٱلسَّيِّئَةِwith an evil (deed)فَلَاthen notيُجْزَىwill be recompensedٱلَّذِينَthose whoعَمِلُوا۟doٱلسَّيِّـَٔاتِthe evil (deeds)إِلَّاexceptمَاwhatكَانُوا۟they used (to)يَعْمَلُونَdo84
إِنَّIndeedٱلَّذِىHe Whoفَرَضَordainedعَلَيْكَupon youٱلْقُرْءَانَthe Quranلَرَآدُّكَ(will) surely take you backإِلَىٰtoمَعَادٍa place of returnقُلSayرَّبِّىٓMy Lordأَعْلَمُ(is) most knowingمَن(of him) whoجَآءَcomesبِٱلْهُدَىٰwith the guidanceوَمَنْand who هُوَheفِى(is) inضَلَٰلٍan errorمُّبِينٍmanifest85
وَمَاAnd notكُنتَyou wereتَرْجُوٓا۟expectingأَنthatيُلْقَىٰٓwould be sent downإِلَيْكَto youٱلْكِتَٰبُthe Bookإِلَّاexceptرَحْمَةً(as) a mercyمِّنfromرَّبِّكَyour LordفَلَاSo (do) notتَكُونَنَّbeظَهِيرًاan assistantلِّلْكَٰفِرِينَto the disbelievers86
وَلَاAnd (let) notيَصُدُّنَّكَavert youعَنْfromءَايَٰتِ(the) Versesٱللَّهِ(of) Allahبَعْدَafterإِذْ[when]أُنزِلَتْthey have been revealedإِلَيْكَto youوَٱدْعُAnd invite (people)إِلَىٰtoرَبِّكَyour LordوَلَاAnd (do) notتَكُونَنَّbeمِنَofٱلْمُشْرِكِينَthe polytheists87
وَلَاAnd (do) notتَدْعُinvokeمَعَwithٱللَّهِAllahإِلَٰهًاgodءَاخَرَotherلَآ(There is) noإِلَٰهَgodإِلَّاexceptهُوَHimكُلُّEveryشَىْءٍthingهَالِكٌ(will be) destroyedإِلَّاexceptوَجْهَهُۥHis FaceلَهُTo Himٱلْحُكْمُ(is) the Decisionوَإِلَيْهِand to Himتُرْجَعُونَyou will be returned88

وَلَقَدْAnd indeedفَتَنَّاWe testedٱلَّذِينَthose whoمِن(were) before themقَبْلِهِمْ(were) before themفَلَيَعْلَمَنَّAnd Allah will surely make evidentٱللَّهُAnd Allah will surely make evidentٱلَّذِينَthose whoصَدَقُوا۟(are) truthfulوَلَيَعْلَمَنَّand He will surely make evidentٱلْكَٰذِبِينَthe liars3
أَمْOrحَسِبَthinkٱلَّذِينَthose whoيَعْمَلُونَdoٱلسَّيِّـَٔاتِevil deedsأَنthatيَسْبِقُونَاthey can outrun UsسَآءَEvil isمَاwhatيَحْكُمُونَthey judge4
مَنWhoeverكَانَ[is]يَرْجُوا۟hopesلِقَآءَ(for the) meetingٱللَّهِ(with) Allahفَإِنَّthen indeedأَجَلَ(the) Termٱللَّهِ(of) Allahلَءَاتٍ(is) surely comingوَهُوَAnd Heٱلسَّمِيعُ(is) the All-Hearerٱلْعَلِيمُthe All-Knower5
وَمَنAnd whoeverجَٰهَدَstrivesفَإِنَّمَاthen onlyيُجَٰهِدُhe strivesلِنَفْسِهِۦٓfor himselfإِنَّIndeedٱللَّهَAllahلَغَنِىٌّ(is) Free from needعَنِofٱلْعَٰلَمِينَthe worlds6
وَٱلَّذِينَAnd those whoءَامَنُوا۟believeوَعَمِلُوا۟and doٱلصَّٰلِحَٰتِrighteous (deeds)لَنُكَفِّرَنَّsurely, We will removeعَنْهُمْfrom themسَيِّـَٔاتِهِمْtheir evil deedsوَلَنَجْزِيَنَّهُمْand We will surely reward themأَحْسَنَ(the) bestٱلَّذِى(of) whatكَانُوا۟they usedيَعْمَلُونَ(to) do7
وَوَصَّيْنَاAnd We have enjoinedٱلْإِنسَٰنَ(on) manبِوَٰلِدَيْهِgoodness to his parentsحُسْنًاgoodness to his parentsوَإِنbut ifجَٰهَدَاكَthey both strive against youلِتُشْرِكَto make you associateبِىwith Meمَاwhatلَيْسَnotلَكَyou haveبِهِۦof itعِلْمٌany knowledgeفَلَاthen (do) notتُطِعْهُمَآobey both of themإِلَىَّTo Meمَرْجِعُكُمْ(is) your returnفَأُنَبِّئُكُمand I will inform youبِمَاabout whatكُنتُمْyou usedتَعْمَلُونَ(to) do8
وَٱلَّذِينَAnd those whoءَامَنُوا۟believeوَعَمِلُوا۟and doٱلصَّٰلِحَٰتِrighteous deedsلَنُدْخِلَنَّهُمْWe will surely admit themفِىamongٱلصَّٰلِحِينَthe righteous9
وَمِنَAnd ofٱلنَّاسِthe peopleمَن(is he) whoيَقُولُsaysءَامَنَّاWe believeبِٱللَّهِin AllahفَإِذَآBut whenأُوذِىَhe is harmedفِىinٱللَّهِ(the Way of) Allahجَعَلَhe considersفِتْنَةَ(the) trialٱلنَّاسِ(of) the peopleكَعَذَابِas (the) punishmentٱللَّهِ(of) AllahوَلَئِنBut ifجَآءَcomesنَصْرٌvictoryمِّنfromرَّبِّكَyour Lordلَيَقُولُنَّsurely they sayإِنَّاIndeed, weكُنَّاwereمَعَكُمْwith youأَوَلَيْسَIs notٱللَّهُAllahبِأَعْلَمَmost knowingبِمَاof whatفِى(is) inصُدُورِ(the) breastsٱلْعَٰلَمِينَ(of) the worlds10
وَلَيَعْلَمَنَّAnd Allah will surely make evidentٱللَّهُAnd Allah will surely make evidentٱلَّذِينَthose whoءَامَنُوا۟believeوَلَيَعْلَمَنَّAnd He will surely make evidentٱلْمُنَٰفِقِينَthe hypocrites11
وَقَالَAnd saidٱلَّذِينَthose whoكَفَرُوا۟disbelieveلِلَّذِينَto those whoءَامَنُوا۟believeٱتَّبِعُوا۟Followسَبِيلَنَاour wayوَلْنَحْمِلْand we will carryخَطَٰيَٰكُمْyour sinsوَمَاBut notهُمtheyبِحَٰمِلِينَ(are) going to carryمِنْofخَطَٰيَٰهُمtheir sinsمِّنanyشَىْءٍthingإِنَّهُمْIndeed, theyلَكَٰذِبُونَ(are) surely liars12
وَلَيَحْمِلُنَّBut surely they will carryأَثْقَالَهُمْtheir burdensوَأَثْقَالًاand burdensمَّعَwithأَثْقَالِهِمْtheir burdensوَلَيُسْـَٔلُنَّand surely they will be questionedيَوْمَ(on the) Dayٱلْقِيَٰمَةِ(of) the Resurrectionعَمَّاabout whatكَانُوا۟they usedيَفْتَرُونَ(to) invent13
وَلَقَدْAnd verilyأَرْسَلْنَاWe sentنُوحًاNuhإِلَىٰtoقَوْمِهِۦhis peopleفَلَبِثَand he remainedفِيهِمْamong themأَلْفَa thousandسَنَةٍyear(s)إِلَّاsaveخَمْسِينَfiftyعَامًاyear(s)فَأَخَذَهُمُthen seized themٱلطُّوفَانُthe floodوَهُمْwhile theyظَٰلِمُونَ(were) wrongdoers14
فَأَنجَيْنَٰهُBut We saved himوَأَصْحَٰبَand (the) peopleٱلسَّفِينَةِ(of) the shipوَجَعَلْنَٰهَآand We made itءَايَةًa Signلِّلْعَٰلَمِينَfor the worlds15
وَإِبْرَٰهِيمَAnd Ibrahim إِذْwhenقَالَhe saidلِقَوْمِهِto his peopleٱعْبُدُوا۟WorshipٱللَّهَAllahوَٱتَّقُوهُand fear HimذَٰلِكُمْThatخَيْرٌ(is) betterلَّكُمْfor youإِنifكُنتُمْyouتَعْلَمُونَknow16
إِنَّمَاOnlyتَعْبُدُونَyou worshipمِنbesidesدُونِbesidesٱللَّهِAllahأَوْثَٰنًاidolsوَتَخْلُقُونَand you createإِفْكًاfalsehoodإِنَّIndeedٱلَّذِينَthose whomتَعْبُدُونَyou worshipمِنbesidesدُونِbesidesٱللَّهِAllahلَا(do) notيَمْلِكُونَpossessلَكُمْfor youرِزْقًاany provisionفَٱبْتَغُوا۟So seekعِندَfromٱللَّهِAllahٱلرِّزْقَthe provisionوَٱعْبُدُوهُand worship Himوَٱشْكُرُوا۟and be gratefulلَهُۥٓto HimإِلَيْهِTo Himتُرْجَعُونَyou will be returned17
وَإِنAnd ifتُكَذِّبُوا۟you denyفَقَدْthen verilyكَذَّبَdeniedأُمَمٌ(the) nationsمِّنbefore youقَبْلِكُمْbefore youوَمَاAnd notعَلَى(is) onٱلرَّسُولِthe Messengerإِلَّاexceptٱلْبَلَٰغُthe conveyanceٱلْمُبِينُclear18
أَوَلَمْDo notيَرَوْا۟they seeكَيْفَhowيُبْدِئُAllah originatesٱللَّهُAllah originatesٱلْخَلْقَthe creationثُمَّthenيُعِيدُهُۥٓrepeats itإِنَّIndeedذَٰلِكَthatعَلَىforٱللَّهِAllahيَسِيرٌ(is) easy19
قُلْSayسِيرُوا۟Travelفِىinٱلْأَرْضِthe earthفَٱنظُرُوا۟and seeكَيْفَhowبَدَأَHe originatedٱلْخَلْقَthe creationثُمَّThenٱللَّهُAllahيُنشِئُwill produceٱلنَّشْأَةَthe creationٱلْءَاخِرَةَthe lastإِنَّIndeedٱللَّهَAllahعَلَىٰonكُلِّeveryشَىْءٍthingقَدِيرٌ(is) All-Powerful20
يُعَذِّبُHe punishesمَنwhomيَشَآءُHe willsوَيَرْحَمُand has mercyمَن(on) whomيَشَآءُHe willsوَإِلَيْهِand to Himتُقْلَبُونَyou will be returned21
وَمَآAnd notأَنتُمyouبِمُعْجِزِينَcan escapeفِىinٱلْأَرْضِthe earthوَلَاand notفِىinٱلسَّمَآءِthe heavenوَمَاAnd notلَكُمfor youمِّنbesidesدُونِbesidesٱللَّهِAllahمِنanyوَلِىٍّprotectorوَلَاand notنَصِيرٍa helper22
وَٱلَّذِينَAnd those whoكَفَرُوا۟disbelieveبِـَٔايَٰتِin (the) Signsٱللَّهِ(of) Allahوَلِقَآئِهِۦٓand (the) meeting (with) Himأُو۟لَٰٓئِكَthoseيَئِسُوا۟(have) despairedمِنofرَّحْمَتِىMy Mercyوَأُو۟لَٰٓئِكَAnd thoseلَهُمْfor themعَذَابٌ(is) a punishmentأَلِيمٌpainful23
فَمَاAnd notكَانَwasجَوَابَ(the) answerقَوْمِهِۦٓ(of) his peopleإِلَّآexceptأَنthatقَالُوا۟they saidٱقْتُلُوهُKill himأَوْorحَرِّقُوهُburn himفَأَنجَىٰهُBut Allah saved himٱللَّهُBut Allah saved himمِنَfromٱلنَّارِthe fireإِنَّIndeedفِىinذَٰلِكَthatلَءَايَٰتٍsurely (are) Signsلِّقَوْمٍfor a peopleيُؤْمِنُونَwho believe24
وَقَالَAnd he saidإِنَّمَاOnlyٱتَّخَذْتُمyou have takenمِّنbesidesدُونِbesidesٱللَّهِAllahأَوْثَٰنًاidolsمَّوَدَّةَ(out of) loveبَيْنِكُمْamong youفِىinٱلْحَيَوٰةِthe lifeٱلدُّنْيَا(of) the worldثُمَّThenيَوْمَ(on the) Dayٱلْقِيَٰمَةِ(of) the Resurrectionيَكْفُرُyou will denyبَعْضُكُمone anotherبِبَعْضٍone anotherوَيَلْعَنُand curseبَعْضُكُمone anotherبَعْضًاone anotherوَمَأْوَىٰكُمُand your abodeٱلنَّارُ(will be) the Fireوَمَاand notلَكُمfor youمِّنanyنَّٰصِرِينَhelpers25
فَـَٔامَنَAnd believedلَهُۥ[in] himلُوطٌLutوَقَالَand he saidإِنِّىIndeed I (am)مُهَاجِرٌemigratingإِلَىٰtoرَبِّىٓmy LordإِنَّهُۥIndeed, Heهُوَ[He] (is)ٱلْعَزِيزُthe All-Mightyٱلْحَكِيمُthe All-Wise26
وَوَهَبْنَاAnd We grantedلَهُۥٓto himإِسْحَٰقَIsaacوَيَعْقُوبَand Yaqubوَجَعَلْنَاand We placedفِىinذُرِّيَّتِهِhis offspringsٱلنُّبُوَّةَthe Prophethoodوَٱلْكِتَٰبَand the BookوَءَاتَيْنَٰهُAnd We gave himأَجْرَهُۥhis rewardفِىinٱلدُّنْيَاthe worldوَإِنَّهُۥAnd indeed, heفِىinٱلْءَاخِرَةِthe Hereafterلَمِنَ(is) surely, amongٱلصَّٰلِحِينَthe righteous27
وَلُوطًاAnd Lutإِذْwhenقَالَhe saidلِقَوْمِهِۦٓto his peopleإِنَّكُمْIndeed, youلَتَأْتُونَcommitٱلْفَٰحِشَةَthe immoralityمَاnotسَبَقَكُمhas preceded youبِهَاwith itمِنْanyأَحَدٍoneمِّنَfromٱلْعَٰلَمِينَthe worlds28
أَئِنَّكُمْIndeed, youلَتَأْتُونَapproachٱلرِّجَالَthe menوَتَقْطَعُونَand you cut offٱلسَّبِيلَthe roadوَتَأْتُونَand commitفِىinنَادِيكُمُyour meetingsٱلْمُنكَرَevilفَمَاAnd notكَانَwasجَوَابَ(the) answerقَوْمِهِۦٓ(of) his peopleإِلَّآexceptأَنthatقَالُوا۟they saidٱئْتِنَاBring upon usبِعَذَابِ(the) punishmentٱللَّهِ(of) Allahإِنifكُنتَyou areمِنَofٱلصَّٰدِقِينَthe truthful29
قَالَHe saidرَبِّMy LordٱنصُرْنِىHelp meعَلَىagainstٱلْقَوْمِthe peopleٱلْمُفْسِدِينَthe corrupters30
وَلَمَّاAnd whenجَآءَتْcameرُسُلُنَآOur messengersإِبْرَٰهِيمَ(to) Ibrahimبِٱلْبُشْرَىٰwith the glad tidingsقَالُوٓا۟they saidإِنَّاIndeed, weمُهْلِكُوٓا۟(are) going to destroyأَهْلِ(the) peopleهَٰذِهِ(of) thisٱلْقَرْيَةِtownإِنَّIndeedأَهْلَهَاits peopleكَانُوا۟areظَٰلِمِينَwrongdoers31
قَالَHe saidإِنَّIndeedفِيهَاin itلُوطًا(is) Lutقَالُوا۟They saidنَحْنُWeأَعْلَمُknow betterبِمَنwhoفِيهَا(is) in itلَنُنَجِّيَنَّهُۥWe will surely save himوَأَهْلَهُۥٓand his familyإِلَّاexceptٱمْرَأَتَهُۥhis wifeكَانَتْSheمِنَ(is) ofٱلْغَٰبِرِينَthose who remain behind32
وَلَمَّآAnd whenأَن[that]جَآءَتْcameرُسُلُنَاOur messengersلُوطًا(to) Lutسِىٓءَhe was distressedبِهِمْfor themوَضَاقَand felt straitenedبِهِمْfor themذَرْعًا(and) uneasyوَقَالُوا۟And they saidلَا(Do) notتَخَفْfearوَلَاand (do) notتَحْزَنْgrieveإِنَّاIndeed, weمُنَجُّوكَ(will) save youوَأَهْلَكَand your familyإِلَّاexceptٱمْرَأَتَكَyour wifeكَانَتْSheمِنَ(is) ofٱلْغَٰبِرِينَthose who remain behind33
إِنَّاIndeed, weمُنزِلُونَ(will) bring downعَلَىٰٓonأَهْلِ(the) peopleهَٰذِهِ(of) thisٱلْقَرْيَةِtownرِجْزًاa punishmentمِّنَfromٱلسَّمَآءِ(the) skyبِمَاbecauseكَانُوا۟they have beenيَفْسُقُونَdefiantly disobedient34
وَلَقَدAnd verilyتَّرَكْنَاWe have leftمِنْهَآabout itءَايَةًۢa signبَيِّنَةً(as) evidenceلِّقَوْمٍfor a peopleيَعْقِلُونَwho use reason35
وَإِلَىٰAnd toمَدْيَنَMadyanأَخَاهُمْtheir brotherشُعَيْبًاShuaibفَقَالَAnd he saidيَٰقَوْمِO my peopleٱعْبُدُوا۟WorshipٱللَّهَAllahوَٱرْجُوا۟and expectٱلْيَوْمَthe Dayٱلْءَاخِرَthe Lastوَلَاand (do) notتَعْثَوْا۟commit evilفِىinٱلْأَرْضِthe earthمُفْسِدِينَ(as) corrupters36
فَكَذَّبُوهُBut they denied himفَأَخَذَتْهُمُso seized themٱلرَّجْفَةُthe earthquakeفَأَصْبَحُوا۟and they becameفِىinدَارِهِمْtheir homeجَٰثِمِينَfallen prone37
وَعَادًاAnd Aadوَثَمُودَا۟and Thamudوَقَدand verilyتَّبَيَّنَ(has) become clearلَكُمto youمِّنfromمَّسَٰكِنِهِمْtheir dwellingsوَزَيَّنَAnd made fair-seemingلَهُمُto themٱلشَّيْطَٰنُthe Shaitaanأَعْمَٰلَهُمْtheir deedsفَصَدَّهُمْand averted themعَنِfromٱلسَّبِيلِthe Wayوَكَانُوا۟though they wereمُسْتَبْصِرِينَendowed with insight38
وَقَٰرُونَAnd Qarunوَفِرْعَوْنَand Firaunوَهَٰمَٰنَand HamanوَلَقَدْAnd certainlyجَآءَهُمcame to themمُّوسَىٰMusaبِٱلْبَيِّنَٰتِwith clear evidencesفَٱسْتَكْبَرُوا۟but they were arrogantفِىinٱلْأَرْضِthe earthوَمَاand notكَانُوا۟they couldسَٰبِقِينَoutstrip Us39
فَكُلًّاSo eachأَخَذْنَاWe seizedبِذَنۢبِهِۦfor his sinفَمِنْهُمThen of themمَّنْ(was he) whoأَرْسَلْنَاWe sentعَلَيْهِon himحَاصِبًاa violent stormوَمِنْهُمand of themمَّنْ(was he) whoأَخَذَتْهُseized himٱلصَّيْحَةُthe awful cryوَمِنْهُمand of themمَّنْ(was he) whoخَسَفْنَاWe caused to swallowبِهِhimٱلْأَرْضَthe earthوَمِنْهُمand of themمَّنْ(was he) whoأَغْرَقْنَاWe drownedوَمَاAnd notكَانَwasٱللَّهُAllahلِيَظْلِمَهُمْto wrong themوَلَٰكِنbutكَانُوٓا۟they wereأَنفُسَهُمْthemselvesيَظْلِمُونَdoing wrong40
مَثَلُ(The) exampleٱلَّذِينَ(of) those whoٱتَّخَذُوا۟takeمِنbesidesدُونِbesidesٱللَّهِAllahأَوْلِيَآءَprotectorsكَمَثَلِ(is) likeٱلْعَنكَبُوتِthe spiderٱتَّخَذَتْwho takesبَيْتًاa houseوَإِنَّAnd indeedأَوْهَنَthe weakestٱلْبُيُوتِ(of) housesلَبَيْتُ(is) surely (the) houseٱلْعَنكَبُوتِ(of) the spiderلَوْif (only)كَانُوا۟theyيَعْلَمُونَknow41
إِنَّIndeedٱللَّهَAllahيَعْلَمُknowsمَاwhatيَدْعُونَthey invokeمِنbesides Himدُونِهِۦbesides HimمِنanyشَىْءٍthingوَهُوَAnd Heٱلْعَزِيزُ(is) the All-Mightyٱلْحَكِيمُthe All-Wise42
وَتِلْكَAnd theseٱلْأَمْثَٰلُexamplesنَضْرِبُهَاWe set forthلِلنَّاسِto mankindوَمَاbut notيَعْقِلُهَآwill understand themإِلَّاexceptٱلْعَٰلِمُونَthose of knowledge43
خَلَقَAllah createdٱللَّهُAllah createdٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِthe heavensوَٱلْأَرْضَand the earthبِٱلْحَقِّin truthإِنَّIndeedفِىinذَٰلِكَthatلَءَايَةً(is) surely a Signلِّلْمُؤْمِنِينَfor the believers44
ٱتْلُReciteمَآwhatأُوحِىَhas been revealedإِلَيْكَto youمِنَofٱلْكِتَٰبِthe Bookوَأَقِمِand establishٱلصَّلَوٰةَthe prayerإِنَّIndeedٱلصَّلَوٰةَthe prayerتَنْهَىٰpreventsعَنِfromٱلْفَحْشَآءِthe immoralityوَٱلْمُنكَرِand evil deedsوَلَذِكْرُand surely (the) remembranceٱللَّهِ(of) Allahأَكْبَرُ(is) greatestوَٱللَّهُAnd Allahيَعْلَمُknowsمَاwhatتَصْنَعُونَyou do45
