وَمَآAnd notأَنزَلْنَاWe sent downعَلَىٰuponقَوْمِهِۦhis peopleمِنۢafter himبَعْدِهِۦafter himمِنanyجُندٍhostمِّنَfromٱلسَّمَآءِthe heavenوَمَاand notكُنَّاwere Weمُنزِلِينَ(to) send down28
إِنNotكَانَتْit wasإِلَّاbutصَيْحَةًa shoutوَٰحِدَةًoneفَإِذَاthen beholdهُمْTheyخَٰمِدُونَ(were) extinguished29
يَٰحَسْرَةًAlasعَلَىforٱلْعِبَادِthe servantsمَاNotيَأْتِيهِمcame to themمِّنanyرَّسُولٍMessengerإِلَّاbutكَانُوا۟they didبِهِۦmock at himيَسْتَهْزِءُونَmock at him30
أَلَمْDo notيَرَوْا۟they seeكَمْhow manyأَهْلَكْنَاWe destroyedقَبْلَهُمbefore themمِّنَofٱلْقُرُونِthe generationsأَنَّهُمْThat theyإِلَيْهِمْto themلَاwill not returnيَرْجِعُونَwill not return31
وَءَايَةٌAnd a Signلَّهُمُfor themٱلْأَرْضُ(is) the earthٱلْمَيْتَةُdeadأَحْيَيْنَٰهَاWe give it lifeوَأَخْرَجْنَاand We bring forthمِنْهَاfrom itحَبًّاgrainفَمِنْهُand from itيَأْكُلُونَthey eat33
وَجَعَلْنَاAnd We placedفِيهَاthereinجَنَّٰتٍgardensمِّنofنَّخِيلٍdate-palmsوَأَعْنَٰبٍand grapevinesوَفَجَّرْنَاand We caused to gush forthفِيهَاin itمِنَofٱلْعُيُونِthe springs34
لِيَأْكُلُوا۟That they may eatمِنofثَمَرِهِۦits fruitوَمَاAnd notعَمِلَتْهُmade itأَيْدِيهِمْtheir handsأَفَلَاSo will notيَشْكُرُونَthey be grateful35
سُبْحَٰنَGlory beٱلَّذِى(to) the One Whoخَلَقَcreatedٱلْأَزْوَٰجَ(in) pairsكُلَّهَاallمِمَّاof whatتُنۢبِتُgrowsٱلْأَرْضُthe earthوَمِنْand ofأَنفُسِهِمْthemselvesوَمِمَّاand of whatلَاnotيَعْلَمُونَthey know36
وَءَايَةٌAnd a Signلَّهُمُfor themٱلَّيْلُ(is) the nightنَسْلَخُWe withdrawمِنْهُfrom itٱلنَّهَارَthe dayفَإِذَاThen beholdهُمTheyمُّظْلِمُونَ(are) those in darkness37
وَٱلشَّمْسُAnd the sunتَجْرِىrunsلِمُسْتَقَرٍّto a term appointedلَّهَاfor itذَٰلِكَThatتَقْدِيرُ(is the) Decreeٱلْعَزِيزِ(of) the All-Mightyٱلْعَلِيمِthe All-Knowing38
وَٱلْقَمَرَAnd the moon قَدَّرْنَٰهُWe have ordained for itمَنَازِلَphasesحَتَّىٰuntilعَادَit returnsكَٱلْعُرْجُونِlike the date stalkٱلْقَدِيمِthe old39
لَاNotٱلشَّمْسُthe sunيَنۢبَغِىis permittedلَهَآfor it أَنthatتُدْرِكَit overtakesٱلْقَمَرَthe moonوَلَاand notٱلَّيْلُthe nightسَابِقُ(can) outstripٱلنَّهَارِthe dayوَكُلٌّbut allفِىinفَلَكٍan orbitيَسْبَحُونَthey are floating40
وَءَايَةٌAnd a Signلَّهُمْfor themأَنَّا(is) thatحَمَلْنَاWe carriedذُرِّيَّتَهُمْtheir offspringفِىinٱلْفُلْكِthe shipٱلْمَشْحُونِladen41
وَخَلَقْنَاAnd We createdلَهُمfor themمِّنfromمِّثْلِهِۦ(the) likes of itمَاwhatيَرْكَبُونَthey ride42
وَإِنAnd ifنَّشَأْWe willنُغْرِقْهُمْWe could drown themفَلَاthen notصَرِيخَ(would be) a responder to a cryلَهُمْfor themوَلَاand notهُمْtheyيُنقَذُونَwould be saved43
وَإِذَاAnd whenقِيلَit is saidلَهُمُto themٱتَّقُوا۟Fearمَاwhatبَيْنَ(is) before youأَيْدِيكُمْ(is) before youوَمَاand whatخَلْفَكُمْ(is) behind youلَعَلَّكُمْso that you mayتُرْحَمُونَreceive mercy45
وَمَاAnd notتَأْتِيهِمcomes to themمِّنْofءَايَةٍa Signمِّنْfromءَايَٰتِ(the) Signsرَبِّهِمْ(of) their Lordإِلَّاbutكَانُوا۟theyعَنْهَاfrom itمُعْرِضِينَturn away46
وَإِذَاAnd whenقِيلَit is saidلَهُمْto themأَنفِقُوا۟Spendمِمَّاfrom whatرَزَقَكُمُ(has) provided youٱللَّهُAllahقَالَSaidٱلَّذِينَthose whoكَفَرُوا۟disbelievedلِلَّذِينَto those whoءَامَنُوٓا۟believedأَنُطْعِمُShould we feedمَنwhomلَّوْifيَشَآءُAllah willed ٱللَّهُAllah willed أَطْعَمَهُۥٓHe would have fed himإِنْNotأَنتُمْ(are) youإِلَّاexceptفِىinضَلَٰلٍan errorمُّبِينٍclear47
وَيَقُولُونَAnd they sayمَتَىٰWhen (is)هَٰذَاthisٱلْوَعْدُpromiseإِنifكُنتُمْyou areصَٰدِقِينَtruthful48
مَاNotيَنظُرُونَthey awaitإِلَّاexceptصَيْحَةًa shoutوَٰحِدَةًoneتَأْخُذُهُمْit will seize themوَهُمْwhile theyيَخِصِّمُونَare disputing49
فَلَاThen notيَسْتَطِيعُونَthey will be ableتَوْصِيَةً(to) make a willوَلَآand notإِلَىٰٓtoأَهْلِهِمْtheir peopleيَرْجِعُونَthey (can) return50
وَنُفِخَAnd will be blownفِى[in]ٱلصُّورِthe trumpetفَإِذَاand beholdهُمTheyمِّنَfromٱلْأَجْدَاثِthe gravesإِلَىٰtoرَبِّهِمْtheir Lordيَنسِلُونَ[they] will hasten51
قَالُوا۟They [will] sayيَٰوَيْلَنَاO woe to usمَنۢWhoبَعَثَنَاhas raised usمِنfromمَّرْقَدِنَاour sleeping placeهَٰذَاThis (is)مَاWhatوَعَدَ(had) promisedٱلرَّحْمَٰنُthe Most Graciousوَصَدَقَand told (the) truthٱلْمُرْسَلُونَthe Messengers52
إِنNotكَانَتْit will beإِلَّاbutصَيْحَةًa shoutوَٰحِدَةًsingleفَإِذَاso beholdهُمْTheyجَمِيعٌallلَّدَيْنَاbefore Usمُحْضَرُونَ(will be) brought53
فَٱلْيَوْمَSo this Dayلَاnotتُظْلَمُwill be wrongedنَفْسٌa soulشَيْـًٔا(in) anythingوَلَاand notتُجْزَوْنَyou will be recompensedإِلَّاexceptمَا(for) whatكُنتُمْyou used (to)تَعْمَلُونَdo54
إِنَّIndeedأَصْحَٰبَ(the) companionsٱلْجَنَّةِ(of) Paradiseٱلْيَوْمَthis Dayفِى[in]شُغُلٍwill be occupiedفَٰكِهُونَ(in) amusement55
هُمْTheyوَأَزْوَٰجُهُمْand their spousesفِىinظِلَٰلٍshadesعَلَىonٱلْأَرَآئِكِ[the] couchesمُتَّكِـُٔونَreclining56
لَهُمْFor themفِيهَاthereinفَٰكِهَةٌ(are) fruitsوَلَهُمand for themمَّا(is) whateverيَدَّعُونَthey call for57
أَلَمْDid notأَعْهَدْI enjoinإِلَيْكُمْupon youيَٰبَنِىٓO Children of AdamءَادَمَO Children of AdamأَنThatلَّا(do) notتَعْبُدُوا۟worshipٱلشَّيْطَٰنَthe Shaitaanإِنَّهُۥindeed, heلَكُمْ(is) for youعَدُوٌّan enemyمُّبِينٌclear60
وَلَقَدْAnd indeedأَضَلَّhe led astrayمِنكُمْfrom youجِبِلًّاa multitudeكَثِيرًاgreatأَفَلَمْThen did notتَكُونُوا۟youتَعْقِلُونَuse reason62
ٱلْيَوْمَThis DayنَخْتِمُWe will sealعَلَىٰٓ[on]أَفْوَٰهِهِمْtheir mouthsوَتُكَلِّمُنَآand will speak to Usأَيْدِيهِمْtheir handsوَتَشْهَدُand will bear witnessأَرْجُلُهُمtheir feetبِمَاabout whatكَانُوا۟they used toيَكْسِبُونَearn65
وَلَوْAnd ifنَشَآءُWe willedلَطَمَسْنَاWe (would have) surely obliteratedعَلَىٰٓ[over]أَعْيُنِهِمْtheir eyesفَٱسْتَبَقُوا۟then they (would) raceٱلصِّرَٰطَ(to find) the pathفَأَنَّىٰthen howيُبْصِرُونَ(could) they see66
وَلَوْAnd ifنَشَآءُWe willedلَمَسَخْنَٰهُمْsurely, We (would have) transformed themعَلَىٰinمَكَانَتِهِمْtheir placesفَمَاthen notٱسْتَطَٰعُوا۟they would have been ableمُضِيًّاto proceedوَلَاand notيَرْجِعُونَreturn67
وَمَنAnd (he) whomنُّعَمِّرْهُWe grant him long lifeنُنَكِّسْهُWe reverse himفِىinٱلْخَلْقِthe creationأَفَلَاThen will notيَعْقِلُونَthey use intellect68
وَمَاAnd notعَلَّمْنَٰهُWe taught himٱلشِّعْرَ[the] poetryوَمَاand notيَنۢبَغِىit is befittingلَهُۥٓfor himإِنْNotهُوَitإِلَّا(is) exceptذِكْرٌa Reminderوَقُرْءَانٌand a Quranمُّبِينٌclear69
لِّيُنذِرَTo warnمَن(him) whoكَانَisحَيًّاaliveوَيَحِقَّand may be proved trueٱلْقَوْلُthe Wordعَلَىagainstٱلْكَٰفِرِينَthe disbelievers70
أَوَلَمْDo notيَرَوْا۟they seeأَنَّاthat Weخَلَقْنَا[We] createdلَهُمfor themمِّمَّاfrom whatعَمِلَتْhave madeأَيْدِينَآOur handsأَنْعَٰمًاcattleفَهُمْthen theyلَهَا[for them]مَٰلِكُونَ(are the) owners71
وَذَلَّلْنَٰهَاAnd We have tamed themلَهُمْfor themفَمِنْهَاso some of them رَكُوبُهُمْthey ride themوَمِنْهَاand some of themيَأْكُلُونَthey eat72
وَلَهُمْAnd for themفِيهَاthereinمَنَٰفِعُ(are) benefitsوَمَشَارِبُand drinksأَفَلَاso (will) notيَشْكُرُونَthey give thanks73
وَٱتَّخَذُوا۟But they have takenمِنbesidesدُونِbesidesٱللَّهِAllahءَالِهَةًgodsلَّعَلَّهُمْthat they mayيُنصَرُونَbe helped74
لَاNotيَسْتَطِيعُونَthey are ableنَصْرَهُمْto help themوَهُمْbut they لَهُمْfor themجُندٌ(are) hostsمُّحْضَرُونَ(who will) be brought75
فَلَاSo (let) notيَحْزُنكَgrieve youقَوْلُهُمْtheir speechإِنَّاIndeed, Weنَعْلَمُ[We] knowمَاwhatيُسِرُّونَthey concealوَمَاand whatيُعْلِنُونَthey declare76
أَوَلَمْDoes notيَرَseeٱلْإِنسَٰنُ[the] manأَنَّاthat Weخَلَقْنَٰهُ[We] created himمِنfromنُّطْفَةٍa semen-dropفَإِذَاThen beholdهُوَHeخَصِيمٌ(is) an opponentمُّبِينٌclear77
وَضَرَبَAnd he sets forthلَنَاfor Usمَثَلًاan exampleوَنَسِىَand forgetsخَلْقَهُۥhis (own) creationقَالَHe saysمَنWhoيُحْىِwill give lifeٱلْعِظَٰمَ(to) the bonesوَهِىَwhile theyرَمِيمٌ(are) decomposed78
قُلْSayيُحْيِيهَاHe will give them lifeٱلَّذِىٓWhoأَنشَأَهَآproduced themأَوَّلَ(the) firstمَرَّةٍtimeوَهُوَand Heبِكُلِّ(is) of everyخَلْقٍcreationعَلِيمٌAll-Knower79
ٱلَّذِىThe One Whoجَعَلَmadeلَكُمfor youمِّنَfromٱلشَّجَرِthe treeٱلْأَخْضَرِ[the] green نَارًاfireفَإِذَآand beholdأَنتُمYouمِّنْهُfrom itتُوقِدُونَignite80
أَوَلَيْسَIs it notٱلَّذِى(He) Whoخَلَقَcreatedٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِthe heavensوَٱلْأَرْضَand the earthبِقَٰدِرٍAbleعَلَىٰٓtoأَن[that]يَخْلُقَcreateمِثْلَهُم(the) like of themبَلَىٰYes, indeedوَهُوَand Heٱلْخَلَّٰقُ(is) the Supreme Creatorٱلْعَلِيمُthe All-Knower81
إِنَّمَآOnlyأَمْرُهُۥٓHis CommandإِذَآwhenأَرَادَHe intendsشَيْـًٔاa thingأَنthatيَقُولَHe saysلَهُۥto itكُنBeفَيَكُونُand it is82
فَسُبْحَٰنَSo glory beٱلَّذِى(to) the One whoبِيَدِهِۦin Whose handمَلَكُوتُis (the) dominionكُلِّ(of) allشَىْءٍthingsوَإِلَيْهِand to Himتُرْجَعُونَyou will be returned83

إِلَّاExceptمَنْ(him) whoخَطِفَsnatchesٱلْخَطْفَةَ(by) theftفَأَتْبَعَهُۥbut follows himشِهَابٌa burning flameثَاقِبٌpiercing10
فَٱسْتَفْتِهِمْThen ask themأَهُمْAre theyأَشَدُّa strongerخَلْقًاcreationأَمorمَّنْ(those) whomخَلَقْنَآWe have createdإِنَّاIndeed, Weخَلَقْنَٰهُمcreated themمِّنfromطِينٍa clayلَّازِبٍۢsticky11
أَءِذَاIs it whenمِتْنَاwe are deadوَكُنَّاand have becomeتُرَابًاdustوَعِظَٰمًاand bonesأَءِنَّاshall we thenلَمَبْعُوثُونَbe certainly resurrected16
فَإِنَّمَاThen onlyهِىَitزَجْرَةٌ(will be) a cryوَٰحِدَةٌsingleفَإِذَاthen, beholdهُمْTheyيَنظُرُونَwill see19
وَقَالُوا۟And they will sayيَٰوَيْلَنَاO woe to usهَٰذَاThisيَوْمُ(is the) Dayٱلدِّينِ(of) the Recompense20
هَٰذَاThisيَوْمُ(is the) Dayٱلْفَصْلِ(of) Judgmentٱلَّذِىwhichكُنتُمyou used toبِهِۦ[of it]تُكَذِّبُونَdeny21
ٱحْشُرُوا۟Gatherٱلَّذِينَthose whoظَلَمُوا۟wrongedوَأَزْوَٰجَهُمْand their kindsوَمَاand whatكَانُوا۟they used (to)يَعْبُدُونَworship22
مِنBesidesدُونِBesidesٱللَّهِAllahفَٱهْدُوهُمْthen lead themإِلَىٰtoصِرَٰطِ(the) Pathٱلْجَحِيمِ(of) the Hellfire23
وَأَقْبَلَAnd will approachبَعْضُهُمْsome of themعَلَىٰtoبَعْضٍothersيَتَسَآءَلُونَquestioning one another27
قَالُوٓا۟They will sayإِنَّكُمْIndeed, youكُنتُمْ[you] used (to)تَأْتُونَنَاcome (to) usعَنِfromٱلْيَمِينِthe right28
وَمَاAnd notكَانَwasلَنَاfor usعَلَيْكُمover youمِّنanyسُلْطَٰنٍۢauthorityبَلْNayكُنتُمْyou wereقَوْمًاa peopleطَٰغِينَtransgressing30
فَحَقَّSo has been proved trueعَلَيْنَاagainst usقَوْلُ(the) Wordرَبِّنَآ(of) our Lordإِنَّاindeed, weلَذَآئِقُونَ(will) certainly taste31
فَإِنَّهُمْThen indeed, theyيَوْمَئِذٍthat Dayفِىinٱلْعَذَابِthe punishmentمُشْتَرِكُونَ(will be) sharers33
إِنَّهُمْIndeed, theyكَانُوٓا۟wereإِذَاwhenقِيلَit was saidلَهُمْto themلَآ(There is) noإِلَٰهَgodإِلَّاexceptٱللَّهُAllahيَسْتَكْبِرُونَwere arrogant35
وَيَقُولُونَAnd they sayأَئِنَّاAre weلَتَارِكُوٓا۟to leaveءَالِهَتِنَاour godsلِشَاعِرٍfor a poetمَّجْنُونٍۢmad36
لَاNotفِيهَاin itغَوْلٌ(is) bad effectوَلَاand notهُمْtheyعَنْهَاfrom itيُنزَفُونَwill be intoxicated47
وَعِندَهُمْAnd with themقَٰصِرَٰتُ(will be) companions of modest gazeٱلطَّرْفِ(will be) companions of modest gazeعِينٌ(having) beautiful eyes48
فَأَقْبَلَAnd (will) approachبَعْضُهُمْsome of themعَلَىٰtoبَعْضٍothersيَتَسَآءَلُونَquestioning one another50
قَالَWill sayقَآئِلٌa speakerمِّنْهُمْamong themإِنِّىIndeed, Iكَانَhadلِىfor meقَرِينٌa companion51
أَءِذَاIs (it) whenمِتْنَاwe have diedوَكُنَّاand becomeتُرَابًاdustوَعِظَٰمًاand bonesأَءِنَّاwill weلَمَدِينُونَsurely be brought to Judgment53
فَٱطَّلَعَThen he (will) lookفَرَءَاهُand see himفِىinسَوَآءِ(the) midstٱلْجَحِيمِ(of) the Hellfire55
وَلَوْلَاAnd if notنِعْمَةُ(for the) Graceرَبِّى(of) my Lordلَكُنتُcertainly, I (would) have beenمِنَamongٱلْمُحْضَرِينَthose brought57
إِلَّاExceptمَوْتَتَنَاour deathٱلْأُولَىٰthe firstوَمَاand notنَحْنُweبِمُعَذَّبِينَwill be punished59
أَذَٰلِكَIs thatخَيْرٌbetterنُّزُلًا(as) hospitalityأَمْorشَجَرَةُ(the) treeٱلزَّقُّومِ(of) Zaqqum62
إِنَّهَاIndeed, itشَجَرَةٌ(is) a treeتَخْرُجُthat growsفِىٓinأَصْلِ(the) bottomٱلْجَحِيمِ(of) the Hellfire64
فَإِنَّهُمْAnd indeed, theyلَءَاكِلُونَ(will) surely eatمِنْهَاfrom itفَمَالِـُٔونَand fillمِنْهَاwith itٱلْبُطُونَ(their) bellies66
ثُمَّThenإِنَّindeedلَهُمْfor themعَلَيْهَاin itلَشَوْبًا(is) a mixtureمِّنْofحَمِيمٍboiling water67
وَلَقَدْAnd verilyضَلَّwent astrayقَبْلَهُمْbefore themأَكْثَرُmostٱلْأَوَّلِينَ(of) the former (people)71
وَلَقَدْAnd verilyنَادَىٰنَاcalled UsنُوحٌNuhفَلَنِعْمَand Bestٱلْمُجِيبُونَ(are We as) Responders75
وَنَجَّيْنَٰهُAnd We saved himوَأَهْلَهُۥand his familyمِنَfromٱلْكَرْبِthe distressٱلْعَظِيمِthe great76
إِذْWhenقَالَhe saidلِأَبِيهِto his fatherوَقَوْمِهِۦand his peopleمَاذَاWhat is itتَعْبُدُونَyou worship85
قَالُوا۟They saidٱبْنُوا۟Buildلَهُۥfor himبُنْيَٰنًاa structureفَأَلْقُوهُand throw himفِىintoٱلْجَحِيمِthe blazing Fire97
فَأَرَادُوا۟And they intendedبِهِۦfor himكَيْدًاa plotفَجَعَلْنَٰهُمُbut We made themٱلْأَسْفَلِينَthe lowest98
فَلَمَّاThen whenبَلَغَhe reachedمَعَهُthe (age of) working with himٱلسَّعْىَthe (age of) working with himقَالَhe saidيَٰبُنَىَّO my sonإِنِّىٓIndeed, Iأَرَىٰhave seenفِىinٱلْمَنَامِthe dreamأَنِّىٓthat I amأَذْبَحُكَsacrificing youفَٱنظُرْso lookمَاذَاwhatتَرَىٰyou seeقَالَHe saidيَٰٓأَبَتِO my fatherٱفْعَلْDoمَاwhatتُؤْمَرُyou are commandedسَتَجِدُنِىٓYou will find meإِنifشَآءَAllah willsٱللَّهُAllah willsمِنَofٱلصَّٰبِرِينَthe patient ones102
فَلَمَّآThen whenأَسْلَمَاboth of them had submittedوَتَلَّهُۥand he put him downلِلْجَبِينِupon his forehead103
قَدْVerilyصَدَّقْتَyou have fulfilledٱلرُّءْيَآthe visionإِنَّاIndeed, Weكَذَٰلِكَthusنَجْزِى[We] rewardٱلْمُحْسِنِينَthe good-doers105
وَبَشَّرْنَٰهُAnd We gave him glad tidingsبِإِسْحَٰقَof Isaacنَبِيًّاa Prophetمِّنَamongٱلصَّٰلِحِينَthe righteous112
وَبَٰرَكْنَاAnd We blessedعَلَيْهِhimوَعَلَىٰٓand [on]إِسْحَٰقَIsaacوَمِنAnd ofذُرِّيَّتِهِمَاtheir offspringمُحْسِنٌ(are) good-doersوَظَالِمٌand unjustلِّنَفْسِهِۦto himselfمُبِينٌclear113
وَنَجَّيْنَٰهُمَاAnd We saved both of themوَقَوْمَهُمَاand their peopleمِنَfromٱلْكَرْبِthe distressٱلْعَظِيمِthe great115
وَنَصَرْنَٰهُمْAnd We helped themفَكَانُوا۟so they becameهُمُso they becameٱلْغَٰلِبِينَthe victors116
أَتَدْعُونَDo you callبَعْلًاBaalوَتَذَرُونَand you forsakeأَحْسَنَ(the) Bestٱلْخَٰلِقِينَ(of) Creators 125
ٱللَّهَAllahرَبَّكُمْyour Lordوَرَبَّand (the) Lordءَابَآئِكُمُ(of) your forefathersٱلْأَوَّلِينَ(of) your forefathers126
لَلَبِثَCertainly, he (would have) remainedفِىinبَطْنِهِۦٓits bellyإِلَىٰuntilيَوْمِthe Dayيُبْعَثُونَthey are resurrected144
فَٱسْتَفْتِهِمْThen ask themأَلِرَبِّكَDoes your Lordٱلْبَنَاتُ(have) daughtersوَلَهُمُwhile for themٱلْبَنُونَ(are) sons149
أَمْOrخَلَقْنَاdid We createٱلْمَلَٰٓئِكَةَthe Angelsإِنَٰثًاfemalesوَهُمْwhile theyشَٰهِدُونَ(were) witnesses150
وَلَدَAllah has begottenٱللَّهُAllah has begottenوَإِنَّهُمْand indeed, theyلَكَٰذِبُونَsurely (are) liars152
وَجَعَلُوا۟And they have madeبَيْنَهُۥbetween Himوَبَيْنَand betweenٱلْجِنَّةِthe jinnنَسَبًاa relationshipوَلَقَدْbut certainlyعَلِمَتِknowٱلْجِنَّةُthe jinnإِنَّهُمْthat theyلَمُحْضَرُونَ(will) surely be brought158
وَلَقَدْAnd verilyسَبَقَتْhas precededكَلِمَتُنَاOur Wordلِعِبَادِنَاfor Our slavesٱلْمُرْسَلِينَthe Messengers171
فَإِذَاBut whenنَزَلَit descendsبِسَاحَتِهِمْin their territoryفَسَآءَthen evil (will be)صَبَاحُ(the) morningٱلْمُنذَرِينَ(for) those who were warned177
سُبْحَٰنَGloryرَبِّكَ(be to) your Lordرَبِّ(the) Lordٱلْعِزَّةِ(of) Honorعَمَّاabove whatيَصِفُونَthey attribute180

كَمْHow manyأَهْلَكْنَاWe destroyedمِنbefore themقَبْلِهِمbefore themمِّنofقَرْنٍa generationفَنَادَوا۟then they called outوَّلَاتَwhen there (was) no longerحِينَtimeمَنَاصٍ(for) escape3
وَعَجِبُوٓا۟And they wonderأَنthatجَآءَهُمhas come to themمُّنذِرٌa warnerمِّنْهُمْfrom themselvesوَقَالَAnd saidٱلْكَٰفِرُونَthe disbelieversهَٰذَاThisسَٰحِرٌ(is) a magicianكَذَّابٌa liar4
أَجَعَلَHas he madeٱلْءَالِهَةَthe godsإِلَٰهًا(into) one godوَٰحِدًا(into) one godإِنَّIndeedهَٰذَاthisلَشَىْءٌ(is) certainly a thingعُجَابٌcurious5
وَٱنطَلَقَAnd went forthٱلْمَلَأُthe chiefsمِنْهُمْamong themأَنِthatٱمْشُوا۟Continueوَٱصْبِرُوا۟and be patientعَلَىٰٓoverءَالِهَتِكُمْyour godsإِنَّIndeedهَٰذَاthisلَشَىْءٌ(is) certainly a thingيُرَادُintended6
مَاNotسَمِعْنَاwe heardبِهَٰذَاof thisفِىinٱلْمِلَّةِthe religionٱلْءَاخِرَةِthe lastإِنْNotهَٰذَآ(is) thisإِلَّاbutٱخْتِلَٰقٌa fabrication7
أَءُنزِلَHas been revealedعَلَيْهِto himٱلذِّكْرُthe Messageمِنۢfromبَيْنِنَاamong usبَلْNayهُمْTheyفِى(are) inشَكٍّdoubtمِّنaboutذِكْرِىMy MessageبَلNayلَّمَّاnot yetيَذُوقُوا۟they have tastedعَذَابِMy punishment8
أَمْOrعِندَهُمْhave theyخَزَآئِنُ(the) treasuresرَحْمَةِ(of the) Mercyرَبِّكَ(of) your Lordٱلْعَزِيزِthe All-Mightyٱلْوَهَّابِthe Bestower9
أَمْOrلَهُمfor themمُّلْكُ(is the) dominionٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ(of) the heavensوَٱلْأَرْضِand the earthوَمَاand whateverبَيْنَهُمَا(is) between themفَلْيَرْتَقُوا۟Then let them ascendفِىbyٱلْأَسْبَٰبِthe means10
جُندٌSoldiers مَّاthereهُنَالِكَthereمَهْزُومٌ(they will be) defeatedمِّنَamongٱلْأَحْزَابِthe companies11
كَذَّبَتْDeniedقَبْلَهُمْbefore themقَوْمُ(the) peopleنُوحٍ(of) Nuhوَعَادٌand Aadوَفِرْعَوْنُand Firaunذُو(the) ownerٱلْأَوْتَادِ(of) the stakes12
وَثَمُودُAnd Thamudوَقَوْمُand (the) peopleلُوطٍ(of) Lutوَأَصْحَٰبُand (the) companionsلْـَٔيْكَةِ(of) the woodأُو۟لَٰٓئِكَThoseٱلْأَحْزَابُ(were) the companies13
إِنNotكُلٌّall (of them)إِلَّاbutكَذَّبَdeniedٱلرُّسُلَthe Messengersفَحَقَّso (was) justعِقَابِMy penalty14
وَمَاAnd notيَنظُرُawaitهَٰٓؤُلَآءِtheseإِلَّاbutصَيْحَةًa shoutوَٰحِدَةًoneمَّاnotلَهَاfor itمِنanyفَوَاقٍdelay15
وَقَالُوا۟And they sayرَبَّنَاOur LordعَجِّلHastenلَّنَاfor usقِطَّنَاour shareقَبْلَbeforeيَوْمِ(the) Dayٱلْحِسَابِ(of) the Account16
ٱصْبِرْBe patientعَلَىٰoverمَاwhatيَقُولُونَthey sayوَٱذْكُرْand rememberعَبْدَنَاOur slaveدَاوُۥدَDawoodذَاthe possessor of strengthٱلْأَيْدِthe possessor of strengthإِنَّهُۥٓIndeed, he (was)أَوَّابٌrepeatedly turning17
إِنَّاIndeed, Weسَخَّرْنَاsubjectedٱلْجِبَالَthe mountainsمَعَهُۥwith himيُسَبِّحْنَglorifyingبِٱلْعَشِىِّin the eveningوَٱلْإِشْرَاقِand [the] sunrise18
وَشَدَدْنَاAnd We strengthenedمُلْكَهُۥhis kingdomوَءَاتَيْنَٰهُand We gave himٱلْحِكْمَةَ[the] wisdomوَفَصْلَand decisiveٱلْخِطَابِspeech20
وَهَلْAnd has (there)أَتَىٰكَcome to youنَبَؤُا۟(the) newsٱلْخَصْمِ(of) the litigantsإِذْwhenتَسَوَّرُوا۟they climbed over the wallٱلْمِحْرَابَ(of) the chamber21
إِذْWhenدَخَلُوا۟they enteredعَلَىٰuponدَاوُۥدَDawoodفَفَزِعَand he was afraidمِنْهُمْof themقَالُوا۟they saidلَا(Do) notتَخَفْfearخَصْمَانِ(We are) two litigantsبَغَىٰhas wrongedبَعْضُنَاone of usعَلَىٰtoبَعْضٍanotherفَٱحْكُمso judgeبَيْنَنَاbetween usبِٱلْحَقِّin truthوَلَاand (do) notتُشْطِطْbe unjustوَٱهْدِنَآand guide usإِلَىٰtoسَوَآءِan evenٱلصِّرَٰطِ[the] path22
إِنَّIndeedهَٰذَآthisأَخِى(is) my brotherلَهُۥhe hasتِسْعٌninety-nineوَتِسْعُونَninety-nineنَعْجَةًewe(s)وَلِىَwhile I haveنَعْجَةٌeweوَٰحِدَةٌoneفَقَالَso he saidأَكْفِلْنِيهَاEntrust her to meوَعَزَّنِىand he overpowered meفِىinٱلْخِطَابِ[the] speech23
قَالَHe saidلَقَدْCertainlyظَلَمَكَhe has wronged youبِسُؤَالِby demandingنَعْجَتِكَyour eweإِلَىٰtoنِعَاجِهِۦhis ewesوَإِنَّAnd indeedكَثِيرًاmanyمِّنَofٱلْخُلَطَآءِthe partnersلَيَبْغِىcertainly oppressبَعْضُهُمْsome of themعَلَىٰ[on]بَعْضٍanotherإِلَّاexceptٱلَّذِينَthose whoءَامَنُوا۟believeوَعَمِلُوا۟and doٱلصَّٰلِحَٰتِrighteous deedsوَقَلِيلٌand fewمَّا(are) theyهُمْ(are) theyوَظَنَّAnd became certainدَاوُۥدُDawoodأَنَّمَاthatفَتَنَّٰهُWe (had) tried himفَٱسْتَغْفَرَand he asked forgivenessرَبَّهُۥ(of) his Lordوَخَرَّand fell downرَاكِعًاbowingوَأَنَابَand turned in repentance24
فَغَفَرْنَاSo We forgaveلَهُۥfor himذَٰلِكَthatوَإِنَّAnd indeedلَهُۥfor himعِندَنَاwith Usلَزُلْفَىٰsurely is a near accessوَحُسْنَand a goodمَـَٔابٍplace of return25
يَٰدَاوُۥدُO DawoodإِنَّاIndeed, Weجَعَلْنَٰكَ[We] have made youخَلِيفَةًa vicegerentفِىinٱلْأَرْضِthe earthفَٱحْكُمso judgeبَيْنَbetweenٱلنَّاسِ[the] menبِٱلْحَقِّin truthوَلَاand (do) notتَتَّبِعِfollowٱلْهَوَىٰthe desireفَيُضِلَّكَfor it will lead you astrayعَنfromسَبِيلِ(the) wayٱللَّهِ(of) AllahإِنَّIndeedٱلَّذِينَthose whoيَضِلُّونَgo astrayعَنfromسَبِيلِ(the) wayٱللَّهِ(of) Allahلَهُمْfor themعَذَابٌ(is) a punishmentشَدِيدٌۢsevereبِمَاbecauseنَسُوا۟they forgotيَوْمَ(the) Dayٱلْحِسَابِ(of) Account26
وَمَاAnd notخَلَقْنَاWe createdٱلسَّمَآءَthe heavenوَٱلْأَرْضَand the earthوَمَاand whateverبَيْنَهُمَا(is) between themبَٰطِلًاwithout purposeذَٰلِكَThatظَنُّ(is the) assumptionٱلَّذِينَ(of) those whoكَفَرُوا۟disbelieveفَوَيْلٌSo woeلِّلَّذِينَto thoseكَفَرُوا۟who disbelieveمِنَfromٱلنَّارِthe Fire27
أَمْOrنَجْعَلُshould We treatٱلَّذِينَthose whoءَامَنُوا۟believeوَعَمِلُوا۟and doٱلصَّٰلِحَٰتِrighteous deedsكَٱلْمُفْسِدِينَlike those who spread corruptionفِىinٱلْأَرْضِthe earthأَمْOrنَجْعَلُshould We treatٱلْمُتَّقِينَthe piousكَٱلْفُجَّارِlike the wicked28
كِتَٰبٌ(This is) a BookأَنزَلْنَٰهُWe have revealed itإِلَيْكَto youمُبَٰرَكٌblessedلِّيَدَّبَّرُوٓا۟that they may ponderءَايَٰتِهِۦ(over) its Versesوَلِيَتَذَكَّرَand may be remindedأُو۟لُوا۟those of understandingٱلْأَلْبَٰبِthose of understanding29
وَوَهَبْنَاAnd We gaveلِدَاوُۥدَto DawoodسُلَيْمَٰنَSulaimanنِعْمَan excellentٱلْعَبْدُslaveإِنَّهُۥٓIndeed, heأَوَّابٌ(was) one who repeatedly turned30
إِذْWhenعُرِضَwere displayedعَلَيْهِto himبِٱلْعَشِىِّin the afternoonٱلصَّٰفِنَٰتُexcellent bred steedsٱلْجِيَادُexcellent bred steeds31
فَقَالَAnd he saidإِنِّىٓIndeed, Iأَحْبَبْتُ[I] preferredحُبَّ(the) loveٱلْخَيْرِ(of) the goodعَنoverذِكْرِ(the) remembranceرَبِّى(of) my LordحَتَّىٰUntilتَوَارَتْthey were hiddenبِٱلْحِجَابِin the veil32
رُدُّوهَاReturn themعَلَىَّto meفَطَفِقَThen he beganمَسْحًۢا(to) pass (his hand)بِٱلسُّوقِover the legsوَٱلْأَعْنَاقِand the necks33
وَلَقَدْAnd certainlyفَتَنَّاWe triedسُلَيْمَٰنَSulaimanوَأَلْقَيْنَاand We placedعَلَىٰonكُرْسِيِّهِۦhis throneجَسَدًاa bodyثُمَّthenأَنَابَhe turned34
قَالَHe saidرَبِّO my LordٱغْفِرْForgiveلِىmeوَهَبْand grantلِىmeمُلْكًاa kingdomلَّاnotيَنۢبَغِى(will) belongلِأَحَدٍto anyoneمِّنۢafter meبَعْدِىٓafter meإِنَّكَIndeed, Youأَنتَ[You]ٱلْوَهَّابُ(are) the Bestower35
فَسَخَّرْنَاThen We subjectedلَهُto himٱلرِّيحَthe windتَجْرِىto flowبِأَمْرِهِۦby his commandرُخَآءًgentlyحَيْثُwhereverأَصَابَhe directed36
هَٰذَاThisعَطَآؤُنَا(is) Our giftفَٱمْنُنْso grantأَوْorأَمْسِكْwithholdبِغَيْرِwithoutحِسَابٍaccount39
وَإِنَّAnd indeedلَهُۥfor himعِندَنَاwith Usلَزُلْفَىٰsurely is a near accessوَحُسْنَand a goodمَـَٔابٍplace of return40
وَٱذْكُرْAnd rememberعَبْدَنَآOur slaveأَيُّوبَAyyubإِذْwhenنَادَىٰhe calledرَبَّهُۥٓhis LordأَنِّىThat [I]مَسَّنِىَ(has) touched meٱلشَّيْطَٰنُShaitaanبِنُصْبٍwith distressوَعَذَابٍand suffering41
ٱرْكُضْStrikeبِرِجْلِكَwith your footهَٰذَاThisمُغْتَسَلٌۢ(is a spring of) water to batheبَارِدٌcoolوَشَرَابٌand a drink42
وَوَهَبْنَاAnd We grantedلَهُۥٓ[to] himأَهْلَهُۥhis familyوَمِثْلَهُمand a like of themمَّعَهُمْwith themرَحْمَةًa Mercyمِّنَّاfrom Usوَذِكْرَىٰand a Reminderلِأُو۟لِىfor those of understandingٱلْأَلْبَٰبِfor those of understanding43
وَخُذْAnd takeبِيَدِكَin your handضِغْثًاa bunchفَٱضْرِبand strikeبِّهِۦwith itوَلَاand (do) notتَحْنَثْbreak (your) oathإِنَّاIndeed, Weوَجَدْنَٰهُ[We] found himصَابِرًاpatientنِّعْمَan excellentٱلْعَبْدُslaveإِنَّهُۥٓIndeed, heأَوَّابٌrepeatedly turned44
وَٱذْكُرْAnd rememberعِبَٰدَنَآOur slavesإِبْرَٰهِيمَIbrahimوَإِسْحَٰقَand Isaacوَيَعْقُوبَand Yaqubأُو۟لِىpossessorsٱلْأَيْدِى(of) strengthوَٱلْأَبْصَٰرِand vision45
إِنَّآIndeed, Weأَخْلَصْنَٰهُم[We] chose themبِخَالِصَةٍfor an exclusive (quality)ذِكْرَىremembranceٱلدَّارِ(of) the Home46
وَإِنَّهُمْAnd indeed, theyعِندَنَاto Usلَمِنَ(are) fromٱلْمُصْطَفَيْنَthe chosen onesٱلْأَخْيَارِthe best47
وَٱذْكُرْAnd rememberإِسْمَٰعِيلَIshmaelوَٱلْيَسَعَand Elishaوَذَاand Dhul-kiflٱلْكِفْلِand Dhul-kiflوَكُلٌّand allمِّنَ(are) fromٱلْأَخْيَارِthe best48
هَٰذَاThisذِكْرٌ(is) a ReminderوَإِنَّAnd indeedلِلْمُتَّقِينَfor the righteousلَحُسْنَsurely, is a goodمَـَٔابٍplace of return49
جَنَّٰتِGardensعَدْنٍ(of) Eternityمُّفَتَّحَةً(will be) openedلَّهُمُfor themٱلْأَبْوَٰبُthe gates50
مُتَّكِـِٔينَRecliningفِيهَاthereinيَدْعُونَthey will callفِيهَاthereinبِفَٰكِهَةٍfor fruitكَثِيرَةٍmanyوَشَرَابٍand drink51
وَعِندَهُمْAnd with themقَٰصِرَٰتُ(will be) companions of modest gazeٱلطَّرْفِ(will be) companions of modest gazeأَتْرَابٌwell-matched52
هَٰذَاThis (is so)وَإِنَّAnd indeedلِلطَّٰغِينَfor the transgressorsلَشَرَّsurely (is) an evilمَـَٔابٍplace of return55
جَهَنَّمَHellيَصْلَوْنَهَاthey will burn thereinفَبِئْسَand wretched (is)ٱلْمِهَادُthe resting place56
هَٰذَاThisفَوْجٌ(is) a companyمُّقْتَحِمٌburstingمَّعَكُمْ(in) with youلَاNoمَرْحَبًۢاwelcomeبِهِمْfor themإِنَّهُمْIndeed, theyصَالُوا۟(will) burnٱلنَّارِ(in) the Fire59
قَالُوا۟They sayبَلْNayأَنتُمْYou لَاnoمَرْحَبًۢاwelcomeبِكُمْfor youأَنتُمْYouقَدَّمْتُمُوهُbrought thisلَنَاupon usفَبِئْسَSo wretched (is)ٱلْقَرَارُthe settlement60
قَالُوا۟They will sayرَبَّنَاOur Lordمَنwhoeverقَدَّمَbroughtلَنَاupon usهَٰذَاthisفَزِدْهُincrease for himعَذَابًاa punishmentضِعْفًاdoubleفِىinٱلنَّارِthe Fire61
وَقَالُوا۟And they (will) sayمَاWhat (is)لَنَاfor usلَاnotنَرَىٰwe seeرِجَالًاmenكُنَّاwe used toنَعُدُّهُمcount themمِّنَamongٱلْأَشْرَارِthe bad ones62
أَتَّخَذْنَٰهُمْDid we take themسِخْرِيًّا(in) ridiculeأَمْorزَاغَتْhas turned awayعَنْهُمُfrom themٱلْأَبْصَٰرُthe vision63
إِنَّIndeedذَٰلِكَthatلَحَقٌّ(is) surely (the) truth تَخَاصُمُ(the) quarrelingأَهْلِ(of the) peopleٱلنَّارِ(of) the Fire64
قُلْSayإِنَّمَآOnlyأَنَاI amمُنذِرٌa warnerوَمَاand notمِنْ(is there) anyإِلَٰهٍgodإِلَّاexceptٱللَّهُAllahٱلْوَٰحِدُthe Oneٱلْقَهَّارُthe Irresistible65
رَبُّLordٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ(of) the heavensوَٱلْأَرْضِand the earthوَمَاand whateverبَيْنَهُمَا(is) between themٱلْعَزِيزُthe All-Mightyٱلْغَفَّٰرُthe Oft-Forgiving66
مَاNotكَانَisلِىَfor meمِنْanyعِلْمٍۢknowledgeبِٱلْمَلَإِ(of) the chiefsٱلْأَعْلَىٰٓthe exaltedإِذْwhenيَخْتَصِمُونَthey were disputing69
إِنNotيُوحَىٰٓhas been revealedإِلَىَّto meإِلَّآexceptأَنَّمَآthat onlyأَنَاI amنَذِيرٌa warnerمُّبِينٌclear70
إِذْWhenقَالَsaidرَبُّكَyour Lordلِلْمَلَٰٓئِكَةِto the AngelsإِنِّىIndeed, I Amخَٰلِقٌۢgoing to createبَشَرًاa human beingمِّنfromطِينٍclay71
فَإِذَاSo whenسَوَّيْتُهُۥI have proportioned himوَنَفَخْتُand breathedفِيهِinto himمِنofرُّوحِىMy spiritفَقَعُوا۟then fall downلَهُۥto himسَٰجِدِينَprostrating72
إِلَّآExceptإِبْلِيسَIblisٱسْتَكْبَرَhe was arrogantوَكَانَand becameمِنَofٱلْكَٰفِرِينَthe disbelievers74
قَالَHe saidيَٰٓإِبْلِيسُO IblisمَاWhatمَنَعَكَprevented youأَنthatتَسْجُدَyou (should) prostrateلِمَاto (one) whomخَلَقْتُI createdبِيَدَىَّwith My HandsأَسْتَكْبَرْتَAre you arrogantأَمْorكُنتَare youمِنَofٱلْعَالِينَthe exalted ones75
قَالَHe saidأَنَاI amخَيْرٌbetterمِّنْهُthan himخَلَقْتَنِىYou created meمِنfromنَّارٍfireوَخَلَقْتَهُۥand You created himمِنfromطِينٍclay76
وَإِنَّAnd indeedعَلَيْكَupon youلَعْنَتِىٓ(is) My curseإِلَىٰuntilيَوْمِ(the) Dayٱلدِّينِ(of) Judgment78
قَالَHe saidرَبِّMy LordفَأَنظِرْنِىٓThen give me respiteإِلَىٰuntilيَوْمِ(the) Dayيُبْعَثُونَthey are resurrected79
قَالَHe saidفَبِعِزَّتِكَThen by Your mightلَأُغْوِيَنَّهُمْI will surely mislead themأَجْمَعِينَall82
لَأَمْلَأَنَّSurely I will fillجَهَنَّمَHellمِنكَwith youوَمِمَّنand those whoتَبِعَكَfollow youمِنْهُمْamong themأَجْمَعِينَall85
قُلْSayمَآNotأَسْـَٔلُكُمْI ask of youعَلَيْهِfor itمِنْanyأَجْرٍpaymentوَمَآand notأَنَاI amمِنَofٱلْمُتَكَلِّفِينَthe ones who pretend86

تَنزِيلُ(The) revelationٱلْكِتَٰبِ(of) the Bookمِنَ(is) fromٱللَّهِAllahٱلْعَزِيزِthe All-Mightyٱلْحَكِيمِthe All-Wise1
إِنَّآIndeed, Weأَنزَلْنَآ[We] have revealedإِلَيْكَto youٱلْكِتَٰبَthe Bookبِٱلْحَقِّin truthفَٱعْبُدِso worshipٱللَّهَAllahمُخْلِصًا(being) sincereلَّهُto Himٱلدِّينَ(in) the religion2
أَلَاUnquestionablyلِلَّهِfor Allahٱلدِّينُ(is) the religionٱلْخَالِصُthe pureوَٱلَّذِينَAnd those whoٱتَّخَذُوا۟takeمِنbesides Himدُونِهِۦٓbesides HimأَوْلِيَآءَprotectorsمَاNotنَعْبُدُهُمْwe worship themإِلَّاexceptلِيُقَرِّبُونَآthat they may bring us nearإِلَىtoٱللَّهِAllahزُلْفَىٰٓ(in) nearnessإِنَّIndeedٱللَّهَAllahيَحْكُمُwill judgeبَيْنَهُمْbetween themفِىinمَاwhatهُمْtheyفِيهِ[in it]يَخْتَلِفُونَdifferإِنَّIndeedٱللَّهَAllahلَا(does) notيَهْدِىguideمَنْ(one) whoهُوَ[he]كَٰذِبٌ(is) a liarكَفَّارٌand a disbeliever3
لَّوْIfأَرَادَAllah (had) intendedٱللَّهُAllah (had) intendedأَنtoيَتَّخِذَtakeوَلَدًاa sonلَّٱصْطَفَىٰsurely, He (could) have chosenمِمَّاfrom whatيَخْلُقُHe createsمَاwhateverيَشَآءُHe willedسُبْحَٰنَهُۥGlory be to HimهُوَHeٱللَّهُ(is) Allahٱلْوَٰحِدُthe Oneٱلْقَهَّارُthe Irresistible4
خَلَقَHe createdٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِthe heavensوَٱلْأَرْضَand the earthبِٱلْحَقِّin [the] truthيُكَوِّرُHe wrapsٱلَّيْلَthe nightعَلَىoverٱلنَّهَارِthe dayوَيُكَوِّرُand wrapsٱلنَّهَارَthe dayعَلَىoverٱلَّيْلِthe nightوَسَخَّرَAnd He subjectedٱلشَّمْسَthe sunوَٱلْقَمَرَand the moonكُلٌّeachيَجْرِىrunningلِأَجَلٍfor a termمُّسَمًّىspecifiedأَلَاUnquestionablyهُوَHeٱلْعَزِيزُ(is) the All-Mightyٱلْغَفَّٰرُthe Oft-Forgiving5
خَلَقَكُمHe created youمِّنfromنَّفْسٍa soulوَٰحِدَةٍsingleثُمَّThenجَعَلَHe madeمِنْهَاfrom itزَوْجَهَاits mateوَأَنزَلَAnd He sent downلَكُمfor youمِّنَofٱلْأَنْعَٰمِthe cattleثَمَٰنِيَةَeightأَزْوَٰجٍkindsيَخْلُقُكُمْHe creates youفِىinبُطُونِ(the) wombsأُمَّهَٰتِكُمْ(of) your mothersخَلْقًاcreationمِّنۢafterبَعْدِafterخَلْقٍcreationفِىinظُلُمَٰتٍdarkness[es]ثَلَٰثٍthreeذَٰلِكُمُThatٱللَّهُ(is) Allahرَبُّكُمْyour Lordلَهُfor Himٱلْمُلْكُ(is) the dominionلَآ(There is) noإِلَٰهَgodإِلَّاexceptهُوَHeفَأَنَّىٰThen howتُصْرَفُونَare you turning away6
إِنIfتَكْفُرُوا۟you disbelieveفَإِنَّthen indeedٱللَّهَAllahغَنِىٌّ(is) free from needعَنكُمْof youوَلَاAnd notيَرْضَىٰHe likesلِعِبَادِهِin His slavesٱلْكُفْرَungratefulnessوَإِنAnd ifتَشْكُرُوا۟you are gratefulيَرْضَهُHe likes itلَكُمْin youوَلَاAnd notتَزِرُwill bearوَازِرَةٌbearer of burdensوِزْرَ(the) burdenأُخْرَىٰ(of) anotherثُمَّThenإِلَىٰtoرَبِّكُمyour Lordمَّرْجِعُكُمْ(is) your returnفَيُنَبِّئُكُمthen He will inform youبِمَاabout whatكُنتُمْyou used toتَعْمَلُونَdoإِنَّهُۥIndeed, Heعَلِيمٌۢ(is) the All-Knowerبِذَاتِof what (is) in the breastsٱلصُّدُورِof what (is) in the breasts7
وَإِذَاAnd whenمَسَّtouchesٱلْإِنسَٰنَ[the] manضُرٌّadversityدَعَاhe callsرَبَّهُۥhis Lordمُنِيبًاturningإِلَيْهِto HimثُمَّthenإِذَاwhenخَوَّلَهُۥHe bestows on himنِعْمَةًa favorمِّنْهُfrom Himselfنَسِىَhe forgetsمَا(for) whatكَانَhe used to callيَدْعُوٓا۟he used to callإِلَيْهِ[to] Himمِنbeforeقَبْلُbeforeوَجَعَلَand he sets upلِلَّهِto Allahأَندَادًاrivalsلِّيُضِلَّto misleadعَنfromسَبِيلِهِۦHis PathقُلْSayتَمَتَّعْEnjoyبِكُفْرِكَin your disbeliefقَلِيلًا(for) a littleإِنَّكَIndeed, youمِنْ(are) ofأَصْحَٰبِ(the) companionsٱلنَّارِ(of) the Fire8
أَمَّنْIs (one) whoهُوَ[he]قَٰنِتٌ(is) devoutly obedient ءَانَآءَ(during) hoursٱلَّيْلِ(of) the nightسَاجِدًاprostratingوَقَآئِمًاand standingيَحْذَرُfearingٱلْءَاخِرَةَthe Hereafterوَيَرْجُوا۟and hopingرَحْمَةَ(for the) Mercyرَبِّهِۦ(of) his LordقُلْSayهَلْAreيَسْتَوِىequalٱلَّذِينَthose whoيَعْلَمُونَknowوَٱلَّذِينَand those whoلَا(do) notيَعْلَمُونَknowإِنَّمَاOnlyيَتَذَكَّرُwill take heedأُو۟لُوا۟those of understandingٱلْأَلْبَٰبِthose of understanding9
قُلْSayيَٰعِبَادِO My slavesٱلَّذِينَ[those] whoءَامَنُوا۟believeٱتَّقُوا۟Fearرَبَّكُمْyour LordلِلَّذِينَFor those whoأَحْسَنُوا۟do goodفِىinهَٰذِهِthisٱلدُّنْيَاworldحَسَنَةٌ(is) goodوَأَرْضُand the earthٱللَّهِ(of) Allahوَٰسِعَةٌ(is) spaciousإِنَّمَاOnlyيُوَفَّىwill be paid back in fullٱلصَّٰبِرُونَthe patient onesأَجْرَهُمtheir rewardبِغَيْرِwithoutحِسَابٍaccount10
قُلْSayإِنِّىٓIndeed, Iأُمِرْتُ[I] am commandedأَنْthatأَعْبُدَI worshipٱللَّهَAllahمُخْلِصًا(being) sincereلَّهُto Himٱلدِّينَ(in) the religion11
وَأُمِرْتُAnd I am commandedلِأَنْthatأَكُونَI beأَوَّلَ(the) firstٱلْمُسْلِمِينَ(of) those who submit12
قُلْSayإِنِّىٓIndeed, Iأَخَافُ[I] fearإِنْifعَصَيْتُI disobeyرَبِّىmy Lordعَذَابَ(the) punishmentيَوْمٍ(of) a Dayعَظِيمٍgreat13
قُلِSayٱللَّهَI worship AllahأَعْبُدُI worship Allahمُخْلِصًا(being) sincereلَّهُۥto Himدِينِى(in) my religion14
فَٱعْبُدُوا۟So worshipمَاwhatشِئْتُمyou willمِّنbesides Himدُونِهِۦbesides HimقُلْSayإِنَّIndeedٱلْخَٰسِرِينَthe losersٱلَّذِينَ(are) those whoخَسِرُوٓا۟(will) loseأَنفُسَهُمْthemselvesوَأَهْلِيهِمْand their familiesيَوْمَ(on the) Dayٱلْقِيَٰمَةِ(of) the ResurrectionأَلَاUnquestionablyذَٰلِكَthat هُوَitٱلْخُسْرَانُ(is) the lossٱلْمُبِينُthe clear15
لَهُمFor themمِّنfromفَوْقِهِمْabove themظُلَلٌcoveringsمِّنَofٱلنَّارِthe Fireوَمِنand fromتَحْتِهِمْbelow themظُلَلٌcoveringsذَٰلِكَ(With) thatيُخَوِّفُthreatensٱللَّهُAllahبِهِۦ[with it]عِبَادَهُۥHis slavesيَٰعِبَادِO My slavesفَٱتَّقُونِSo fear Me16
وَٱلَّذِينَAnd those whoٱجْتَنَبُوا۟avoidٱلطَّٰغُوتَthe false godsأَنlestيَعْبُدُوهَاthey worship themوَأَنَابُوٓا۟and turnإِلَىtoٱللَّهِAllahلَهُمُfor themٱلْبُشْرَىٰ(are) glad tidingsفَبَشِّرْSo give glad tidingsعِبَادِ(to) My slaves17
ٱلَّذِينَThose whoيَسْتَمِعُونَthey listen (to)ٱلْقَوْلَthe Wordفَيَتَّبِعُونَthen followأَحْسَنَهُۥٓthe best thereofأُو۟لَٰٓئِكَthoseٱلَّذِينَ(are) they whomهَدَىٰهُمُAllah has guided themٱللَّهُAllah has guided themوَأُو۟لَٰٓئِكَand thoseهُمْare [they]أُو۟لُوا۟the men of understandingٱلْأَلْبَٰبِthe men of understanding18
أَفَمَنْThen, is (one) whoحَقَّbecame dueعَلَيْهِon himكَلِمَةُthe wordٱلْعَذَابِ(of) the punishmentأَفَأَنتَThen can youتُنقِذُsaveمَن(one) whoفِى(is) inٱلنَّارِthe Fire19
لَٰكِنِButٱلَّذِينَthose whoٱتَّقَوْا۟fearرَبَّهُمْtheir Lordلَهُمْfor themغُرَفٌ(are) lofty mansionsمِّنabove themفَوْقِهَاabove themغُرَفٌlofty mansionsمَّبْنِيَّةٌbuilt highتَجْرِىflowمِنfromتَحْتِهَاbeneath itٱلْأَنْهَٰرُthe riversوَعْدَ(The) Promiseٱللَّهِ(of) AllahلَاNotيُخْلِفُAllah failsٱللَّهُAllah failsٱلْمِيعَادَ(in His) promise20
أَلَمْDo notتَرَyou seeأَنَّthatٱللَّهَAllahأَنزَلَsends downمِنَfromٱلسَّمَآءِthe skyمَآءًwaterفَسَلَكَهُۥand He makes it flowيَنَٰبِيعَ(as) springsفِىinٱلْأَرْضِthe earthثُمَّthenيُخْرِجُHe producesبِهِۦwith itزَرْعًاcropsمُّخْتَلِفًا(of) differentأَلْوَٰنُهُۥcolorsثُمَّthenيَهِيجُthey witherفَتَرَىٰهُand you see itمُصْفَرًّاturn yellowثُمَّthenيَجْعَلُهُۥHe makes themحُطَٰمًاdebrisإِنَّIndeedفِىinذَٰلِكَthatلَذِكْرَىٰsurely, (is) a reminderلِأُو۟لِىfor those of understandingٱلْأَلْبَٰبِfor those of understanding21
أَفَمَنSo is (one for) whomشَرَحَAllah has expandedٱللَّهُAllah has expandedصَدْرَهُۥhis breastلِلْإِسْلَٰمِfor Islamفَهُوَso heعَلَىٰ(is) uponنُورٍa lightمِّنfromرَّبِّهِۦhis LordفَوَيْلٌSo woeلِّلْقَٰسِيَةِto (those are) hardenedقُلُوبُهُمtheir heartsمِّنfromذِكْرِ(the) remembrance of Allahٱللَّهِ(the) remembrance of Allahأُو۟لَٰٓئِكَThoseفِى(are) inضَلَٰلٍerrorمُّبِينٍclear22
ٱللَّهُAllahنَزَّلَhas revealedأَحْسَنَ(the) bestٱلْحَدِيثِ(of) [the] statement كِتَٰبًاa Bookمُّتَشَٰبِهًا(its parts) resembling each otherمَّثَانِىَoft-repeatedتَقْشَعِرُّShiverمِنْهُfrom itجُلُودُ(the) skinsٱلَّذِينَ(of) those whoيَخْشَوْنَfearرَبَّهُمْtheir Lordثُمَّthenتَلِينُrelaxجُلُودُهُمْtheir skinsوَقُلُوبُهُمْand their heartsإِلَىٰatذِكْرِ(the) remembranceٱللَّهِ(of) AllahذَٰلِكَThatهُدَى(is the) guidanceٱللَّهِ(of) AllahيَهْدِىHe guidesبِهِۦwith itمَنwhomيَشَآءُHe willsوَمَنAnd whoeverيُضْلِلِAllah lets go astrayٱللَّهُAllah lets go astrayفَمَاthen notلَهُۥfor himمِنْanyهَادٍguide23
أَفَمَنThen (is) he whoيَتَّقِىwill shieldبِوَجْهِهِۦwith his faceسُوٓءَ(the) worstٱلْعَذَابِpunishmentيَوْمَ(on the) Dayٱلْقِيَٰمَةِ(of) the ResurrectionوَقِيلَAnd it will be saidلِلظَّٰلِمِينَto the wrongdoersذُوقُوا۟Tasteمَاwhatكُنتُمْyou used toتَكْسِبُونَearn24
كَذَّبَDeniedٱلَّذِينَthose whoمِن(were) before themقَبْلِهِمْ(were) before themفَأَتَىٰهُمُso came upon themٱلْعَذَابُthe punishmentمِنْfromحَيْثُwhereلَاnotيَشْعُرُونَthey perceive25
فَأَذَاقَهُمُSo Allah made themٱللَّهُSo Allah made themٱلْخِزْىَthe disgraceفِىinٱلْحَيَوٰةِthe lifeٱلدُّنْيَا(of) the worldوَلَعَذَابُand certainly (the) punishmentٱلْءَاخِرَةِ(of) the Hereafterأَكْبَرُ(is) greaterلَوْifكَانُوا۟theyيَعْلَمُونَknew26
وَلَقَدْAnd indeedضَرَبْنَاWe have set forthلِلنَّاسِfor peopleفِىinهَٰذَاthisٱلْقُرْءَانِQuranمِنofكُلِّeveryمَثَلٍexampleلَّعَلَّهُمْso that they mayيَتَذَكَّرُونَtake heed27
قُرْءَانًاA Quranعَرَبِيًّا(in) Arabicغَيْرَwithoutذِىanyعِوَجٍcrookednessلَّعَلَّهُمْso that they mayيَتَّقُونَ(become) righteous28
ضَرَبَAllah sets forthٱللَّهُAllah sets forthمَثَلًاan example رَّجُلًاa manفِيهِabout himشُرَكَآءُpartnersمُتَشَٰكِسُونَquarrelingوَرَجُلًاand a manسَلَمًا(belonging) exclusivelyلِّرَجُلٍto one man هَلْareيَسْتَوِيَانِthey both equalمَثَلًا(in) comparisonٱلْحَمْدُAll praiseلِلَّهِ(be) to AllahبَلْNayأَكْثَرُهُمْmost of themلَا(do) notيَعْلَمُونَknow29
ثُمَّThenإِنَّكُمْindeed youيَوْمَ(on the) Dayٱلْقِيَٰمَةِ(of) the Resurrectionعِندَbeforeرَبِّكُمْyour Lordتَخْتَصِمُونَwill dispute31
