وَٱعْلَمُوٓا۟And knowأَنَّمَاthat whatغَنِمْتُمyou obtain (as) spoils of warمِّنofشَىْءٍanythingفَأَنَّthen thatلِلَّهِfor Allahخُمُسَهُۥ(is) one fifth of itوَلِلرَّسُولِand for the Messengerوَلِذِىand for theٱلْقُرْبَىٰnear relativesوَٱلْيَتَٰمَىٰand the orphansوَٱلْمَسَٰكِينِand the needyوَٱبْنِand theٱلسَّبِيلِwayfarerإِنifكُنتُمْyouءَامَنتُمbelieveبِٱللَّهِin Allahوَمَآand (in) whatأَنزَلْنَاWe sent downعَلَىٰtoعَبْدِنَاOur slaveيَوْمَ(on the) dayٱلْفُرْقَانِ(of) the criterionيَوْمَ(the) dayٱلْتَقَى(when) metٱلْجَمْعَانِthe two forcesوَٱللَّهُAnd Allahعَلَىٰ(is) onكُلِّeveryشَىْءٍthingقَدِيرٌAll-Powerful41
إِذْWhenأَنتُمyou (were)بِٱلْعُدْوَةِon side of the valleyٱلدُّنْيَاthe nearerوَهُمand theyبِٱلْعُدْوَةِ(were) on the sideٱلْقُصْوَىٰthe fartherوَٱلرَّكْبُand the caravanأَسْفَلَ(was) lowerمِنكُمْthan youوَلَوْAnd ifتَوَاعَدتُّمْyou (had) made an appointmentلَٱخْتَلَفْتُمْcertainly you would have failedفِىinٱلْمِيعَٰدِthe appointmentوَلَٰكِنButلِّيَقْضِىَthat might accomplishٱللَّهُAllahأَمْرًاa matterكَانَ(that) wasمَفْعُولًاdestinedلِّيَهْلِكَthat (might be) destroyedمَنْ(those) whoهَلَكَ(were to be) destroyedعَنۢonبَيِّنَةٍa clear evidenceوَيَحْيَىٰand (might) liveمَنْ(those) whoحَىَّ(were to) liveعَنۢonبَيِّنَةٍa clear evidenceوَإِنَّAnd indeedٱللَّهَAllahلَسَمِيعٌ(is) All-HearingعَلِيمٌAll-Knowing42
إِذْWhenيُرِيكَهُمُyou (where) shown themٱللَّهُ(by) Allahفِىinمَنَامِكَyour dreamقَلِيلًا(as) fewوَلَوْand ifأَرَىٰكَهُمْHe had shown them to youكَثِيرًا(as) manyلَّفَشِلْتُمْsurely you would have lost courageوَلَتَنَٰزَعْتُمْand surely you would have disputedفِىinٱلْأَمْرِthe matterوَلَٰكِنَّbutٱللَّهَAllahسَلَّمَsaved (you)إِنَّهُۥIndeed, Heعَلِيمٌۢ(is) All-Knowerبِذَاتِof what is inٱلصُّدُورِthe breasts43
وَإِذْAnd whenيُرِيكُمُوهُمْHe showed them to youإِذِwhenٱلْتَقَيْتُمْyou met فِىٓinأَعْيُنِكُمْyour eyesقَلِيلًا(as) fewوَيُقَلِّلُكُمْand He made you (appear) as fewفِىٓinأَعْيُنِهِمْtheir eyesلِيَقْضِىَthat might accomplishٱللَّهُAllah might accomplishأَمْرًاa matterكَانَ(that) wasمَفْعُولًا(already) destinedوَإِلَىAnd toٱللَّهِAllahتُرْجَعُreturnٱلْأُمُورُ(all) the matters44
يَٰٓأَيُّهَاO youٱلَّذِينَwhoءَامَنُوٓا۟believeإِذَاWhenلَقِيتُمْyou meetفِئَةًa forceفَٱثْبُتُوا۟then be firmوَٱذْكُرُوا۟and rememberٱللَّهَAllahكَثِيرًاmuchلَّعَلَّكُمْso that you mayتُفْلِحُونَ(be) successful45
وَأَطِيعُوا۟And obeyٱللَّهَAllahوَرَسُولَهُۥand His Messengerوَلَاand (do) notتَنَٰزَعُوا۟disputeفَتَفْشَلُوا۟lest you lose courageوَتَذْهَبَand (would) departرِيحُكُمْyour strengthوَٱصْبِرُوٓا۟and be patientإِنَّIndeedٱللَّهَAllahمَعَ(is) withٱلصَّٰبِرِينَthe patient ones46
وَلَاAnd (do) notتَكُونُوا۟beكَٱلَّذِينَlike those whoخَرَجُوا۟came forthمِنfromدِيَٰرِهِمtheir homesبَطَرًاboastfullyوَرِئَآءَand showing offٱلنَّاسِ(to) the peopleوَيَصُدُّونَand hinder (them)عَنfromسَبِيلِ(the) wayٱللَّهِ(of) AllahوَٱللَّهُAnd Allahبِمَاof whatيَعْمَلُونَthey doمُحِيطٌ(is) All-Encompassing47
وَإِذْAnd whenزَيَّنَmade fair-seemingلَهُمُto themٱلشَّيْطَٰنُthe Shaitaanأَعْمَٰلَهُمْtheir deedsوَقَالَand he saidلَاNo (one)غَالِبَ(can) overcomeلَكُمُ[to] youٱلْيَوْمَtodayمِنَfromٱلنَّاسِthe peopleوَإِنِّىand indeed, I amجَارٌa neighborلَّكُمْfor youفَلَمَّاBut whenتَرَآءَتِcame in sightٱلْفِئَتَانِthe two forcesنَكَصَhe turned awayعَلَىٰonعَقِبَيْهِhis heelsوَقَالَand saidإِنِّىIndeed, I amبَرِىٓءٌfreeمِّنكُمْof youإِنِّىٓIndeed, Iأَرَىٰseeمَاwhatلَاnotتَرَوْنَyou seeإِنِّىٓindeed, Iأَخَافُ[I] fearٱللَّهَAllahوَٱللَّهُAnd Allahشَدِيدُ(is) severeٱلْعِقَابِ(in) the penalty48
إِذْWhenيَقُولُsaidٱلْمُنَٰفِقُونَthe hypocritesوَٱلَّذِينَand those who فِىinقُلُوبِهِمtheir heartsمَّرَضٌ(was) a diseaseغَرَّ(Had) deludedهَٰٓؤُلَآءِthese (people)دِينُهُمْtheir religionوَمَنBut whoeverيَتَوَكَّلْputs (his) trustعَلَىinٱللَّهِAllahفَإِنَّthen indeedٱللَّهَAllahعَزِيزٌ(is) All-MightyحَكِيمٌAll-Wise49
وَلَوْAnd ifتَرَىٰٓyou (could) seeإِذْwhenيَتَوَفَّىtake away soulsٱلَّذِينَ(of) those whoكَفَرُوا۟disbelieveٱلْمَلَٰٓئِكَةُthe Angelsيَضْرِبُونَstrikingوُجُوهَهُمْtheir facesوَأَدْبَٰرَهُمْand their backsوَذُوقُوا۟Tasteعَذَابَ(the) punishmentٱلْحَرِيقِ(of) the Blazing Fire50
ذَٰلِكَThatبِمَا(is) for whatقَدَّمَتْsent forthأَيْدِيكُمْyour handsوَأَنَّAnd indeedٱللَّهَAllahلَيْسَ(is) notبِظَلَّٰمٍunjustلِّلْعَبِيدِto His slaves51
كَدَأْبِLike (the) wayءَالِ(of) peopleفِرْعَوْنَ(of) Firaunوَٱلَّذِينَand those whoمِن(were) fromقَبْلِهِمْbefore themكَفَرُوا۟They disbelievedبِـَٔايَٰتِin (the) Signsٱللَّهِ(of) Allahفَأَخَذَهُمُso seized themٱللَّهُAllahبِذُنُوبِهِمْfor their sinsإِنَّIndeedٱللَّهَAllahقَوِىٌّ(is) All-Strongشَدِيدُ(and) severeٱلْعِقَابِ(in) the penalty52
ذَٰلِكَThatبِأَنَّ(is) becauseٱللَّهَAllahلَمْnotيَكُisمُغَيِّرًاOne Who changesنِّعْمَةًa favorأَنْعَمَهَاwhich He had bestowedعَلَىٰonقَوْمٍa peopleحَتَّىٰuntilيُغَيِّرُوا۟they changeمَاwhatبِأَنفُسِهِمْ(is) in themselvesوَأَنَّAnd indeedٱللَّهَAllahسَمِيعٌ(is) All-HearingعَلِيمٌAll-Knowing53
كَدَأْبِLike (the) wayءَالِ(of) peopleفِرْعَوْنَ(of) Firaunوَٱلَّذِينَand those whoمِن(were) fromقَبْلِهِمْbefore themكَذَّبُوا۟They deniedبِـَٔايَٰتِ(the) Signsرَبِّهِمْ(of) their Lordفَأَهْلَكْنَٰهُمso We destroyed themبِذُنُوبِهِمْfor their sinsوَأَغْرَقْنَآand We drownedءَالَ(the) peopleفِرْعَوْنَ(of) Firaunوَكُلٌّand (they) allكَانُوا۟wereظَٰلِمِينَwrongdoers54
إِنَّIndeedشَرَّ(the) worstٱلدَّوَآبِّ(of) the living creaturesعِندَnearٱللَّهِAllahٱلَّذِينَ(are) those whoكَفَرُوا۟disbelieveفَهُمْand theyلَا(will) notيُؤْمِنُونَbelieve55
ٱلَّذِينَThose who عَٰهَدتَّyou made a covenantمِنْهُمْwith themثُمَّthenيَنقُضُونَthey breakعَهْدَهُمْtheir covenantفِى[in]كُلِّeveryمَرَّةٍtimeوَهُمْand theyلَا(do) notيَتَّقُونَfear (Allah)56
فَإِمَّاSo ifتَثْقَفَنَّهُمْyou gain dominance over themفِىinٱلْحَرْبِthe warفَشَرِّدْdisperseبِهِمby themمَّنْ(those) whoخَلْفَهُمْ(are) behind themلَعَلَّهُمْso that they mayيَذَّكَّرُونَtake heed57
وَإِمَّاAnd ifتَخَافَنَّyou fearمِنfromقَوْمٍa peopleخِيَانَةًbetrayalفَٱنۢبِذْthrow backإِلَيْهِمْto themعَلَىٰonسَوَآءٍequal (terms)إِنَّIndeedٱللَّهَAllahلَا(does) notيُحِبُّloveٱلْخَآئِنِينَthe traitors58
وَلَاAnd (let) notيَحْسَبَنَّthinkٱلَّذِينَthose whoكَفَرُوا۟disbelieveسَبَقُوٓا۟they can outstripإِنَّهُمْIndeed, theyلَا(can) notيُعْجِزُونَescape59
وَأَعِدُّوا۟And prepareلَهُمfor themمَّاwhateverٱسْتَطَعْتُمyou able (to)مِّنofقُوَّةٍforceوَمِنand ofرِّبَاطِtetheredٱلْخَيْلِhorsesتُرْهِبُونَ(to) terrifyبِهِۦtherewithعَدُوَّ(the) enemyٱللَّهِ(of) Allahوَعَدُوَّكُمْand your enemyوَءَاخَرِينَand othersمِنfromدُونِهِمْbesides themلَاnotتَعْلَمُونَهُمُ(do) you know themٱللَّهُ(but) Allahيَعْلَمُهُمْknows themوَمَاAnd whateverتُنفِقُوا۟you spendمِنfromشَىْءٍ(any) thingفِىinسَبِيلِ(the) wayٱللَّهِ(of) Allahيُوَفَّit will be fully repaidإِلَيْكُمْto youوَأَنتُمْand youلَا(will) notتُظْلَمُونَbe wronged60
وَإِنAnd ifجَنَحُوا۟they inclineلِلسَّلْمِto peaceفَٱجْنَحْthen you (also) inclineلَهَاto itوَتَوَكَّلْand put (your) trustعَلَىinٱللَّهِAllahإِنَّهُۥIndeedهُوَHeٱلسَّمِيعُ(is) All-HearerٱلْعَلِيمُAll-Knower61
وَإِنBut ifيُرِيدُوٓا۟they intendأَنtoيَخْدَعُوكَdeceive youفَإِنَّthen indeedحَسْبَكَis sufficient for youٱللَّهُAllahهُوَHeٱلَّذِىٓ(is) the One Whoأَيَّدَكَsupported youبِنَصْرِهِۦwith His helpوَبِٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَand with the believers62
وَأَلَّفَAnd He (has) put affectionبَيْنَbetweenقُلُوبِهِمْtheir heartsلَوْIfأَنفَقْتَyou (had) spentمَاwhateverفِى(is) inٱلْأَرْضِthe earthجَمِيعًاallمَّآnotأَلَّفْتَ(could) you (have) put affectionبَيْنَbetweenقُلُوبِهِمْtheir heartsوَلَٰكِنَّbutٱللَّهَAllahأَلَّفَ(has) put affectionبَيْنَهُمْbetween themإِنَّهُۥIndeed, Heعَزِيزٌ(is) All-MightyحَكِيمٌAll-Wise63
يَٰٓأَيُّهَاOٱلنَّبِىُّProphetحَسْبُكَSufficient for youٱللَّهُ(is) Allahوَمَنِand whoeverٱتَّبَعَكَfollows youمِنَofٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَthe believers64
يَٰٓأَيُّهَاOٱلنَّبِىُّProphetحَرِّضِUrgeٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَthe believersعَلَىtoٱلْقِتَالِ[the] fightإِنIfيَكُن(there) areمِّنكُمْamong youعِشْرُونَtwentyصَٰبِرُونَsteadfastيَغْلِبُوا۟they will overcomeمِا۟ئَتَيْنِtwo hundredوَإِنAnd ifيَكُن(there) areمِّنكُمamong youمِّا۟ئَةٌa hundredيَغْلِبُوٓا۟they will overcomeأَلْفًاa thousandمِّنَofٱلَّذِينَthose whoكَفَرُوا۟disbelieveبِأَنَّهُمْbecause theyقَوْمٌ(are) a peopleلَّا(who do) notيَفْقَهُونَunderstand65
ٱلْـَٰٔنَNowخَفَّفَhas (been) lightenedٱللَّهُ(by) Allahعَنكُمْfor youوَعَلِمَand He knowsأَنَّthatفِيكُمْin youضَعْفًا(there) is weaknessفَإِنSo ifيَكُن(there) areمِّنكُمamong youمِّا۟ئَةٌa hundredصَابِرَةٌsteadfastيَغْلِبُوا۟they will overcomeمِا۟ئَتَيْنِtwo hundredوَإِنAnd ifيَكُن(there) areمِّنكُمْamong youأَلْفٌa thousandيَغْلِبُوٓا۟they will overcomeأَلْفَيْنِtwo thousandبِإِذْنِwith (the) permissionٱللَّهِ(of) AllahوَٱللَّهُAnd Allahمَعَ(is) withٱلصَّٰبِرِينَthe steadfast66
مَاNotكَانَisلِنَبِىٍّfor a Prophetأَنthatيَكُونَ(there) should beلَهُۥٓfor himأَسْرَىٰprisoners of warحَتَّىٰuntilيُثْخِنَhe has battled strenuouslyفِىinٱلْأَرْضِthe landتُرِيدُونَYou desireعَرَضَ(the) commoditiesٱلدُّنْيَا(of) the worldوَٱللَّهُbut Allahيُرِيدُdesiresٱلْءَاخِرَةَ(for you) the HereafterوَٱللَّهُAnd Allahعَزِيزٌ(is) All-MightyحَكِيمٌAll-Wise67
لَّوْلَاHad notكِتَٰبٌan ordainmentمِّنَfromٱللَّهِAllahسَبَقَprecededلَمَسَّكُمْsurely (would) have touched youفِيمَآfor whatأَخَذْتُمْyou took عَذَابٌa punishmentعَظِيمٌgreat68
فَكُلُوا۟So eatمِمَّاfrom whatغَنِمْتُمْyou got as war booty حَلَٰلًاlawfulطَيِّبًا(and) goodوَٱتَّقُوا۟and fearٱللَّهَAllahإِنَّIndeedٱللَّهَAllahغَفُورٌ(is) Oft-ForgivingرَّحِيمٌMost Merciful69
يَٰٓأَيُّهَاOٱلنَّبِىُّProphetقُلSayلِّمَنto whoeverفِىٓ(is) inأَيْدِيكُمyour handsمِّنَofٱلْأَسْرَىٰٓthe captivesإِنIfيَعْلَمِknowsٱللَّهُAllahفِىinقُلُوبِكُمْyour heartsخَيْرًاany goodيُؤْتِكُمْHe will give youخَيْرًاbetterمِّمَّآthan whatأُخِذَwas takenمِنكُمْfrom youوَيَغْفِرْand He will forgiveلَكُمْyouوَٱللَّهُAnd Allahغَفُورٌ(is) Oft-ForgivingرَّحِيمٌMost Merciful70
وَإِنBut ifيُرِيدُوا۟they intendخِيَانَتَكَ(to) betray youفَقَدْcertainlyخَانُوا۟they have betrayedٱللَّهَAllahمِنfromقَبْلُbeforeفَأَمْكَنَSo He gave (you) powerمِنْهُمْover themوَٱللَّهُAnd Allahعَلِيمٌ(is) All-KnowerحَكِيمٌAll-Wise71
إِنَّIndeedٱلَّذِينَthose whoءَامَنُوا۟believedوَهَاجَرُوا۟and emigratedوَجَٰهَدُوا۟and strove hardبِأَمْوَٰلِهِمْwith their wealthوَأَنفُسِهِمْand their livesفِىinسَبِيلِ(the) wayٱللَّهِ(of) Allahوَٱلَّذِينَand those whoءَاوَوا۟gave shelterوَّنَصَرُوٓا۟and helpedأُو۟لَٰٓئِكَthose بَعْضُهُمْsome of themأَوْلِيَآءُ(are) alliesبَعْضٍ(of) anotherوَٱلَّذِينَBut those whoءَامَنُوا۟believedوَلَمْand (did) notيُهَاجِرُوا۟emigrateمَا(it is) notلَكُمfor youمِّن(of)وَلَٰيَتِهِمtheir protectionمِّن(in)شَىْءٍ(in) anythingحَتَّىٰuntilيُهَاجِرُوا۟they emigrateوَإِنِAnd ifٱسْتَنصَرُوكُمْthey seek your helpفِىinٱلدِّينِthe religionفَعَلَيْكُمُthen upon youٱلنَّصْرُ(is to) help themإِلَّاexceptعَلَىٰagainstقَوْمٍۢa peopleبَيْنَكُمْbetween youوَبَيْنَهُمand between themمِّيثَٰقٌ(is) a treatyوَٱللَّهُAnd Allahبِمَاof whatتَعْمَلُونَyou doبَصِيرٌ(is) All-Seer72
وَٱلَّذِينَAnd those whoكَفَرُوا۟disbelieveبَعْضُهُمْsome of themأَوْلِيَآءُ(are) alliesبَعْضٍ(to) anotherإِلَّاIf notتَفْعَلُوهُyou do itتَكُن(there) will beفِتْنَةٌoppressionفِىinٱلْأَرْضِthe earthوَفَسَادٌand corruptionكَبِيرٌgreat73
وَٱلَّذِينَAnd those whoءَامَنُوا۟believedوَهَاجَرُوا۟and emigratedوَجَٰهَدُوا۟and strove hardفِىinسَبِيلِ(the) wayٱللَّهِ(of) Allahوَٱلَّذِينَand those whoءَاوَوا۟gave shelterوَّنَصَرُوٓا۟and helpedأُو۟لَٰٓئِكَthose هُمُthey (are)ٱلْمُؤْمِنُونَthe believersحَقًّا(in) truthلَّهُمFor themمَّغْفِرَةٌ(is) forgivenessوَرِزْقٌand a provisionكَرِيمٌnoble74
وَٱلَّذِينَAnd those whoءَامَنُوا۟believedمِنۢfromبَعْدُafterwardsوَهَاجَرُوا۟and emigratedوَجَٰهَدُوا۟and strove hardمَعَكُمْwith youفَأُو۟لَٰٓئِكَthen thoseمِنكُمْ(are) of youوَأُو۟لُوا۟But thoseٱلْأَرْحَامِ(of) blood relationshipبَعْضُهُمْsome of themأَوْلَىٰ(are) nearerبِبَعْضٍto anotherفِىinكِتَٰبِ(the) Bookٱللَّهِ(of) AllahإِنَّIndeedٱللَّهَAllahبِكُلِّof everyشَىْءٍthingعَلِيمٌۢ(is) All-Knower75

وَأَذَٰنٌAnd an announcementمِّنَfrom Allahٱللَّهِfrom Allahوَرَسُولِهِۦٓand His Messengerإِلَىtoٱلنَّاسِthe peopleيَوْمَ(on the) dayٱلْحَجِّ(of) the greater Pilgrimageٱلْأَكْبَرِ(of) the greater PilgrimageأَنَّthatٱللَّهَAllahبَرِىٓءٌ(is) free from obligationsمِّنَ[of]ٱلْمُشْرِكِينَ(to) the polytheistsوَرَسُولُهُۥand (so is) His MessengerفَإِنSo ifتُبْتُمْyou repentفَهُوَthen, it isخَيْرٌbestلَّكُمْfor youوَإِنBut ifتَوَلَّيْتُمْyou turn awayفَٱعْلَمُوٓا۟then knowأَنَّكُمْthat youغَيْرُ(can) notمُعْجِزِىescapeٱللَّهِAllahوَبَشِّرِAnd give glad tidingsٱلَّذِينَ(to) those whoكَفَرُوا۟disbelieveبِعَذَابٍof a punishmentأَلِيمٍpainful3
إِلَّاExceptٱلَّذِينَthose (with) whomعَٰهَدتُّمyou have a covenantمِّنَamongٱلْمُشْرِكِينَthe polytheistsثُمَّthenلَمْnotيَنقُصُوكُمْthey have failed youشَيْـًٔا(in any) thingوَلَمْand notيُظَٰهِرُوا۟they have supportedعَلَيْكُمْagainst youأَحَدًاanyoneفَأَتِمُّوٓا۟so fulfilإِلَيْهِمْto themعَهْدَهُمْtheir treatyإِلَىٰtillمُدَّتِهِمْtheir termإِنَّIndeedٱللَّهَAllahيُحِبُّlovesٱلْمُتَّقِينَthe righteous4
فَإِذَاThen whenٱنسَلَخَhave passedٱلْأَشْهُرُthe sacred monthsٱلْحُرُمُthe sacred monthsفَٱقْتُلُوا۟then killٱلْمُشْرِكِينَthe polytheistsحَيْثُwhereverوَجَدتُّمُوهُمْyou find themوَخُذُوهُمْand seize themوَٱحْصُرُوهُمْand besiege themوَٱقْعُدُوا۟and sit (in wait)لَهُمْfor themكُلَّ(at) everyمَرْصَدٍplace of ambushفَإِنBut ifتَابُوا۟they repentوَأَقَامُوا۟and establishٱلصَّلَوٰةَthe prayerوَءَاتَوُا۟and giveٱلزَّكَوٰةَthe zakahفَخَلُّوا۟then leaveسَبِيلَهُمْtheir wayإِنَّIndeedٱللَّهَAllahغَفُورٌ(is) Oft-ForgivingرَّحِيمٌMost Merciful5
وَإِنْAnd ifأَحَدٌanyoneمِّنَofٱلْمُشْرِكِينَthe polytheistsٱسْتَجَارَكَseek your protectionفَأَجِرْهُthen grant him protectionحَتَّىٰuntilيَسْمَعَhe hearsكَلَٰمَ(the) Words of Allahٱللَّهِ(the) Words of AllahثُمَّThenأَبْلِغْهُescort himمَأْمَنَهُۥ(to) his place of safetyذَٰلِكَThatبِأَنَّهُمْ(is) because theyقَوْمٌ(are) a peopleلَّا(who) do not knowيَعْلَمُونَ(who) do not know6
كَيْفَHowيَكُونُcan (there) beلِلْمُشْرِكِينَfor the polytheistsعَهْدٌa covenantعِندَwithٱللَّهِAllahوَعِندَand withرَسُولِهِۦٓHis Messengerإِلَّاexceptٱلَّذِينَthose (with) whomعَٰهَدتُّمْyou made a covenantعِندَnearٱلْمَسْجِدِAl-MasjidٱلْحَرَامِAl-HaraamفَمَاSo long asٱسْتَقَٰمُوا۟they are uprightلَكُمْto youفَٱسْتَقِيمُوا۟then you be uprightلَهُمْto themإِنَّIndeedٱللَّهَAllahيُحِبُّlovesٱلْمُتَّقِينَthe righteous7
كَيْفَHowوَإِنwhile, ifيَظْهَرُوا۟they gain dominanceعَلَيْكُمْover youلَاthey do not regard (the ties)يَرْقُبُوا۟they do not regard (the ties)فِيكُمْwith youإِلًّا(of) kinshipوَلَاand notذِمَّةًcovenant of protectionيُرْضُونَكُمThey satisfy youبِأَفْوَٰهِهِمْwith their mouthsوَتَأْبَىٰbut refuseقُلُوبُهُمْtheir heartsوَأَكْثَرُهُمْand most of themفَٰسِقُونَ(are) defiantly disobedient8
ٱشْتَرَوْا۟They exchangeبِـَٔايَٰتِ[with] the Verses of Allahٱللَّهِ[with] the Verses of Allahثَمَنًا(for) a little priceقَلِيلًا(for) a little priceفَصَدُّوا۟and they hinder (people)عَنfromسَبِيلِهِۦٓHis wayإِنَّهُمْIndeedسَآءَevilمَا(is) whatكَانُوا۟they used toيَعْمَلُونَdo9
لَاNotيَرْقُبُونَthey respect (the ties)فِىtowardsمُؤْمِنٍa believerإِلًّا(of) kinshipوَلَاand notذِمَّةًcovenant of protectionوَأُو۟لَٰٓئِكَAnd thoseهُمُ[they]ٱلْمُعْتَدُونَ(are) the transgressors10
فَإِنBut ifتَابُوا۟they repentوَأَقَامُوا۟and establishٱلصَّلَوٰةَthe prayerوَءَاتَوُا۟and giveٱلزَّكَوٰةَthe zakahفَإِخْوَٰنُكُمْthen (they are) your brothersفِىinٱلدِّينِ[the] religionوَنُفَصِّلُAnd We explain in detailٱلْءَايَٰتِthe Versesلِقَوْمٍfor a peopleيَعْلَمُونَ(who) know11
وَإِنAnd ifنَّكَثُوٓا۟they breakأَيْمَٰنَهُمtheir oathsمِّنۢafterبَعْدِafterعَهْدِهِمْtheir treatyوَطَعَنُوا۟and defameفِى[in]دِينِكُمْyour religionفَقَٰتِلُوٓا۟then fightأَئِمَّةَthe leadersٱلْكُفْرِ(of) [the] disbeliefإِنَّهُمْindeed, they لَآnoأَيْمَٰنَoathsلَهُمْfor themلَعَلَّهُمْso that they mayيَنتَهُونَcease12
أَلَاWill notتُقَٰتِلُونَyou fightقَوْمًاa peopleنَّكَثُوٓا۟who brokeأَيْمَٰنَهُمْtheir oathsوَهَمُّوا۟and determinedبِإِخْرَاجِto drive outٱلرَّسُولِthe Messengerوَهُمand theyبَدَءُوكُمْbegan (to attack) youأَوَّلَfirstمَرَّةٍtimeأَتَخْشَوْنَهُمْDo you fear themفَٱللَّهُBut Allahأَحَقُّ(has) more rightأَنthatتَخْشَوْهُyou should fear Himإِنifكُنتُمyou areمُّؤْمِنِينَbelievers13
قَٰتِلُوهُمْFight them يُعَذِّبْهُمُAllah will punish themٱللَّهُAllah will punish themبِأَيْدِيكُمْby your handsوَيُخْزِهِمْand disgrace themوَيَنصُرْكُمْand give you victoryعَلَيْهِمْover themوَيَشْفِand will healصُدُورَ(the) breastsقَوْمٍ(of) a peopleمُّؤْمِنِينَ(who are) believers14
وَيُذْهِبْAnd removeغَيْظَ(the) angerقُلُوبِهِمْ(of) their heartsوَيَتُوبُAnd Allah accepts repentanceٱللَّهُAnd Allah accepts repentanceعَلَىٰofمَنwhomيَشَآءُHe willsوَٱللَّهُAnd Allahعَلِيمٌ(is) All-KnowerحَكِيمٌAll-Wise15
أَمْOrحَسِبْتُمْ(do) you thinkأَنthatتُتْرَكُوا۟you would be leftوَلَمَّاwhile notيَعْلَمِAllah made evidentٱللَّهُAllah made evidentٱلَّذِينَthose whoجَٰهَدُوا۟striveمِنكُمْamong youوَلَمْand notيَتَّخِذُوا۟takeمِنbesides Allahدُونِbesides Allahٱللَّهِbesides Allahوَلَاand notرَسُولِهِۦHis Messengerوَلَاand notٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَthe believersوَلِيجَةً(as) intimatesوَٱللَّهُAnd Allahخَبِيرٌۢ(is) All-Awareبِمَاof whatتَعْمَلُونَyou do16
مَا(It) is notكَانَ(It) is notلِلْمُشْرِكِينَfor the polytheistsأَنthatيَعْمُرُوا۟they maintainمَسَٰجِدَ(the) masajid of Allahٱللَّهِ(the) masajid of Allahشَٰهِدِينَ(while) witnessingعَلَىٰٓagainstأَنفُسِهِمthemselvesبِٱلْكُفْرِ[with] disbeliefأُو۟لَٰٓئِكَ(For) thoseحَبِطَتْworthlessأَعْمَٰلُهُمْ(are) their deedsوَفِىand inٱلنَّارِthe Fireهُمْtheyخَٰلِدُونَ(will) abide forever17
إِنَّمَاOnlyيَعْمُرُwill maintainمَسَٰجِدَ(the) masajid of Allahٱللَّهِ(the) masajid of Allahمَنْ(the one) whoءَامَنَbelievesبِٱللَّهِin Allahوَٱلْيَوْمِand the Dayٱلْءَاخِرِthe Lastوَأَقَامَand establishesٱلصَّلَوٰةَthe prayerوَءَاتَىand givesٱلزَّكَوٰةَthe zakahوَلَمْand notيَخْشَfearإِلَّاexceptٱللَّهَAllahفَعَسَىٰٓThen perhapsأُو۟لَٰٓئِكَthoseأَن[that]يَكُونُوا۟they areمِنَofٱلْمُهْتَدِينَthe guided ones18
أَجَعَلْتُمْDo you makeسِقَايَةَthe providing of waterٱلْحَآجِّ(to) the pilgrimsوَعِمَارَةَand (the) maintenanceٱلْمَسْجِدِ(of) Al-Masjid Al-Haraamٱلْحَرَامِ(of) Al-Masjid Al-Haraamكَمَنْlike (the one) whoءَامَنَbelievesبِٱللَّهِin Allahوَٱلْيَوْمِand the Dayٱلْءَاخِرِthe Lastوَجَٰهَدَand strivesفِىinسَبِيلِ(the) wayٱللَّهِ(of) AllahلَاThey are not equalيَسْتَوُۥنَThey are not equalعِندَnearٱللَّهِAllahوَٱللَّهُAnd Allahلَا(does) notيَهْدِىguideٱلْقَوْمَthe people ٱلظَّٰلِمِينَthe wrongdoers19
ٱلَّذِينَThose whoءَامَنُوا۟believedوَهَاجَرُوا۟and emigratedوَجَٰهَدُوا۟and stroveفِىinسَبِيلِ(the) wayٱللَّهِ(of) Allahبِأَمْوَٰلِهِمْwith their wealthوَأَنفُسِهِمْand their livesأَعْظَمُ(are) greaterدَرَجَةً(in) rankعِندَnearٱللَّهِAllahوَأُو۟لَٰٓئِكَAnd those هُمُtheyٱلْفَآئِزُونَ(are) the successful20
يُبَشِّرُهُمْTheir Lord gives them glad tidingsرَبُّهُمTheir Lord gives them glad tidingsبِرَحْمَةٍof Mercyمِّنْهُfrom Himوَرِضْوَٰنٍand Pleasureوَجَنَّٰتٍand Gardensلَّهُمْfor them فِيهَاin itنَعِيمٌ(is) blissمُّقِيمٌenduring21
خَٰلِدِينَ(They will) abideفِيهَآin itأَبَدًاforeverإِنَّIndeedٱللَّهَAllah عِندَهُۥٓwith Himأَجْرٌ(is) a rewardعَظِيمٌgreat22
يَٰٓأَيُّهَاO youٱلَّذِينَwhoءَامَنُوا۟believeلَا(Do) notتَتَّخِذُوٓا۟takeءَابَآءَكُمْyour fathersوَإِخْوَٰنَكُمْand your brothersأَوْلِيَآءَ(as) alliesإِنِifٱسْتَحَبُّوا۟they preferٱلْكُفْرَ[the] disbeliefعَلَىoverٱلْإِيمَٰنِ[the] beliefوَمَنAnd whoeverيَتَوَلَّهُمtakes them as alliesمِّنكُمْamong youفَأُو۟لَٰٓئِكَthen thoseهُمُ[they]ٱلظَّٰلِمُونَ(are) the wrongdoers23
قُلْSayإِنIfكَانَareءَابَآؤُكُمْyour fathersوَأَبْنَآؤُكُمْand your sonsوَإِخْوَٰنُكُمْand your brothersوَأَزْوَٰجُكُمْand your spousesوَعَشِيرَتُكُمْand your relativesوَأَمْوَٰلٌand wealthٱقْتَرَفْتُمُوهَاthat you have acquiredوَتِجَٰرَةٌand the commerceتَخْشَوْنَyou fearكَسَادَهَاa decline (in) itوَمَسَٰكِنُand the dwellingsتَرْضَوْنَهَآyou delight (in) itأَحَبَّ(are) more belovedإِلَيْكُمto youمِّنَthanٱللَّهِAllahوَرَسُولِهِۦand His Messengerوَجِهَادٍand strivingفِىinسَبِيلِهِۦHis wayفَتَرَبَّصُوا۟then waitحَتَّىٰuntilيَأْتِىَAllah bringsٱللَّهُAllah bringsبِأَمْرِهِۦHis CommandوَٱللَّهُAnd Allahلَا(does) notيَهْدِىguideٱلْقَوْمَthe people ٱلْفَٰسِقِينَthe defiantly disobedient24
لَقَدْVerilyنَصَرَكُمُAllah helped youٱللَّهُAllah helped youفِىinمَوَاطِنَregionsكَثِيرَةٍmanyوَيَوْمَand (on the) dayحُنَيْنٍ(of) Hunainإِذْwhenأَعْجَبَتْكُمْpleased youكَثْرَتُكُمْyour multitudeفَلَمْbut notتُغْنِavailedعَنكُمْyouشَيْـًٔاanythingوَضَاقَتْand (was) straitenedعَلَيْكُمُfor youٱلْأَرْضُthe earthبِمَا(in spite) of its vastnessرَحُبَتْ(in spite) of its vastnessثُمَّthenوَلَّيْتُمyou turned backمُّدْبِرِينَfleeing25
ثُمَّThenأَنزَلَAllah sent downٱللَّهُAllah sent downسَكِينَتَهُۥHis tranquilityعَلَىٰonرَسُولِهِۦHis Messengerوَعَلَىand onٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَthe believersوَأَنزَلَand sent downجُنُودًاforcesلَّمْwhich you did not seeتَرَوْهَاwhich you did not seeوَعَذَّبَand He punishedٱلَّذِينَthose whoكَفَرُوا۟disbelievedوَذَٰلِكَAnd thatجَزَآءُ(is) the recompenseٱلْكَٰفِرِينَ(of) the disbelievers26
ثُمَّThenيَتُوبُAllah accepts repentanceٱللَّهُAllah accepts repentanceمِنۢafterبَعْدِafterذَٰلِكَthatعَلَىٰforمَنwhomيَشَآءُHe willsوَٱللَّهُAnd Allahغَفُورٌ(is) Oft-ForgivingرَّحِيمٌMost Merciful27
يَٰٓأَيُّهَاO you who believeٱلَّذِينَO you who believeءَامَنُوٓا۟O you who believeإِنَّمَاIndeedٱلْمُشْرِكُونَthe polytheistsنَجَسٌ(are) uncleanفَلَاso let them not come nearيَقْرَبُوا۟so let them not come nearٱلْمَسْجِدَAl-Masjid Al-HaraamٱلْحَرَامَAl-Masjid Al-Haraamبَعْدَafterعَامِهِمْthis, their (final) yearهَٰذَاthis, their (final) yearوَإِنْAnd ifخِفْتُمْyou fearعَيْلَةًpovertyفَسَوْفَthen soonيُغْنِيكُمُAllah will enrich youٱللَّهُAllah will enrich youمِنfromفَضْلِهِۦٓHis BountyإِنifشَآءَHe willsإِنَّIndeedٱللَّهَAllahعَلِيمٌ(is) All-KnowerحَكِيمٌAll-Wise28
قَٰتِلُوا۟Fightٱلَّذِينَthose whoلَا(do) notيُؤْمِنُونَbelieveبِٱللَّهِin Allahوَلَاand notبِٱلْيَوْمِin the Dayٱلْءَاخِرِthe Lastوَلَاand notيُحَرِّمُونَthey make unlawfulمَاwhatحَرَّمَAllah has made unlawfulٱللَّهُAllah has made unlawfulوَرَسُولُهُۥand His Messengerوَلَاand notيَدِينُونَthey acknowledgeدِينَ(the) religionٱلْحَقِّ(of) the truthمِنَfromٱلَّذِينَthose whoأُوتُوا۟were givenٱلْكِتَٰبَthe Scriptureحَتَّىٰuntilيُعْطُوا۟they payٱلْجِزْيَةَthe jizyahعَنwillinglyيَدٍwillinglyوَهُمْwhile theyصَٰغِرُونَ(are) subdued29
وَقَالَتِAnd saidٱلْيَهُودُthe JewsعُزَيْرٌUzairٱبْنُ(is) sonٱللَّهِ(of) AllahوَقَالَتِAnd saidٱلنَّصَٰرَىthe ChristiansٱلْمَسِيحُMessiahٱبْنُ(is) sonٱللَّهِ(of) AllahذَٰلِكَThatقَوْلُهُم(is) their sayingبِأَفْوَٰهِهِمْwith their mouthsيُضَٰهِـُٔونَthey imitateقَوْلَthe sayingٱلَّذِينَ(of) those whoكَفَرُوا۟disbelievedمِنbeforeقَبْلُbeforeقَٰتَلَهُمُ(May) Allah destroy themٱللَّهُ(May) Allah destroy themأَنَّىٰHowيُؤْفَكُونَdeluded are they30
ٱتَّخَذُوٓا۟They have takenأَحْبَارَهُمْtheir rabbisوَرُهْبَٰنَهُمْand their monksأَرْبَابًا(as) LordsمِّنbesidesدُونِbesidesٱللَّهِAllahوَٱلْمَسِيحَand the Messiahٱبْنَsonمَرْيَمَ(of) MaryamوَمَآAnd notأُمِرُوٓا۟they were commandedإِلَّاexceptلِيَعْبُدُوٓا۟that they worshipإِلَٰهًاOne GodوَٰحِدًاOne Godلَّآ(There) is noإِلَٰهَgodإِلَّاexceptهُوَHimسُبْحَٰنَهُۥGlory be to Himعَمَّاfrom whatيُشْرِكُونَthey associate (with Him)31
يُرِيدُونَThey wantأَنtoيُطْفِـُٔوا۟extinguishنُورَAllah's lightٱللَّهِAllah's lightبِأَفْوَٰهِهِمْwith their mouthsوَيَأْبَىbut Allah refusesٱللَّهُbut Allah refusesإِلَّآexceptأَنtoيُتِمَّperfectنُورَهُۥHis Lightوَلَوْeven ifكَرِهَthe disbelievers dislike (it)ٱلْكَٰفِرُونَthe disbelievers dislike (it)32
هُوَHeٱلَّذِىٓ(is) the One Whoأَرْسَلَhas sentرَسُولَهُۥHis Messengerبِٱلْهُدَىٰwith the guidanceوَدِينِand the religionٱلْحَقِّ(of) [the] truthلِيُظْهِرَهُۥto manifest itعَلَىoverٱلدِّينِall religionsكُلِّهِۦall religionsوَلَوْEven ifكَرِهَdislike (it)ٱلْمُشْرِكُونَthe polytheists33
يَٰٓأَيُّهَاO you who believeٱلَّذِينَO you who believeءَامَنُوٓا۟O you who believeإِنَّIndeedكَثِيرًاmanyمِّنَofٱلْأَحْبَارِthe rabbisوَٱلرُّهْبَانِand the monksلَيَأْكُلُونَsurely eatأَمْوَٰلَ(the) wealthٱلنَّاسِ(of) the peopleبِٱلْبَٰطِلِin falsehoodوَيَصُدُّونَand hinderعَنfromسَبِيلِ(the) wayٱللَّهِ(of) AllahوَٱلَّذِينَAnd those whoيَكْنِزُونَhoardٱلذَّهَبَthe goldوَٱلْفِضَّةَand the silverوَلَاand (do) notيُنفِقُونَهَاspend itفِىinسَبِيلِ(the) wayٱللَّهِ(of) Allahفَبَشِّرْهُم[so] give them tidingsبِعَذَابٍof a punishmentأَلِيمٍpainful34
يَوْمَ(The) Dayيُحْمَىٰit will be heated [on it]عَلَيْهَاit will be heated [on it]فِىinنَارِthe Fireجَهَنَّمَ(of) Hellفَتُكْوَىٰand will be brandedبِهَاwith itجِبَاهُهُمْtheir foreheadsوَجُنُوبُهُمْand their flanksوَظُهُورُهُمْand their backsهَٰذَاThisمَا(is) whatكَنَزْتُمْyou hoardedلِأَنفُسِكُمْfor yourselvesفَذُوقُوا۟so tasteمَاwhatكُنتُمْyou used toتَكْنِزُونَhoard35
إِنَّIndeedعِدَّةَ(the) numberٱلشُّهُورِ(of) the monthsعِندَwithٱللَّهِAllahٱثْنَا(is) twelveعَشَرَ(is) twelveشَهْرًاmonthsفِىinكِتَٰبِ(the) ordinanceٱللَّهِ(of) Allahيَوْمَ(from the) DayخَلَقَHe createdٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِthe heavensوَٱلْأَرْضَand the earthمِنْهَآof themأَرْبَعَةٌfourحُرُمٌ(are) sacredذَٰلِكَThatٱلدِّينُ(is) the religionٱلْقَيِّمُthe uprightفَلَاso (do) notتَظْلِمُوا۟wrongفِيهِنَّthereinأَنفُسَكُمْyourselvesوَقَٰتِلُوا۟And fightٱلْمُشْرِكِينَthe polytheistsكَآفَّةًall togetherكَمَاasيُقَٰتِلُونَكُمْthey fight youكَآفَّةًall togetherوَٱعْلَمُوٓا۟And knowأَنَّthatٱللَّهَAllahمَعَ(is) withٱلْمُتَّقِينَthe righteous36
إِنَّمَاIndeedٱلنَّسِىٓءُthe postponingزِيَادَةٌ(is) an increaseفِىinٱلْكُفْرِthe disbeliefيُضَلُّare led astrayبِهِby itٱلَّذِينَthose whoكَفَرُوا۟disbelieveيُحِلُّونَهُۥThey make it lawfulعَامًاone yearوَيُحَرِّمُونَهُۥand make it unlawfulعَامًا(another) yearلِّيُوَاطِـُٔوا۟to adjustعِدَّةَthe numberمَاwhichحَرَّمَAllah has made unlawfulٱللَّهُAllah has made unlawfulفَيُحِلُّوا۟and making lawfulمَاwhatحَرَّمَAllah has made unlawfulٱللَّهُAllah has made unlawfulزُيِّنَIs made fair-seemingلَهُمْto themسُوٓءُ(the) evilأَعْمَٰلِهِمْ(of) their deedsوَٱللَّهُAnd Allahلَا(does) notيَهْدِىguideٱلْقَوْمَthe people ٱلْكَٰفِرِينَthe disbelievers37
يَٰٓأَيُّهَاO you who believeٱلَّذِينَO you who believeءَامَنُوا۟O you who believeمَاWhatلَكُمْ(is the matter) with youإِذَاwhenقِيلَit is saidلَكُمُto youٱنفِرُوا۟go forthفِىinسَبِيلِ(the) wayٱللَّهِ(of) Allahٱثَّاقَلْتُمْyou cling heavilyإِلَىtoٱلْأَرْضِthe earthأَرَضِيتُمAre you pleasedبِٱلْحَيَوٰةِwith the lifeٱلدُّنْيَا(of) the worldمِنَ(rather) thanٱلْءَاخِرَةِthe HereafterفَمَاBut whatمَتَٰعُ(is the) enjoymentٱلْحَيَوٰةِ(of) the lifeٱلدُّنْيَا(of) the worldفِىin (comparison to)ٱلْءَاخِرَةِthe hereafterإِلَّاexceptقَلِيلٌa little38
إِلَّاIf notتَنفِرُوا۟you go forthيُعَذِّبْكُمْHe will punish youعَذَابًا(with) a painful punishmentأَلِيمًا(with) a painful punishmentوَيَسْتَبْدِلْand will replace youقَوْمًا(with) a peopleغَيْرَكُمْother than youوَلَاand notتَضُرُّوهُyou can harm Himشَيْـًٔا(in) anythingوَٱللَّهُAnd Allahعَلَىٰ(is) onكُلِّeveryشَىْءٍthingقَدِيرٌAll-Powerful39
إِلَّاIf notتَنصُرُوهُyou help himفَقَدْcertainlyنَصَرَهُAllah helped himٱللَّهُAllah helped himإِذْwhenأَخْرَجَهُdrove him outٱلَّذِينَthose whoكَفَرُوا۟disbelievedثَانِىَthe secondٱثْنَيْنِ(of) the twoإِذْwhenهُمَاthey bothفِى(were) inٱلْغَارِthe caveإِذْwhenيَقُولُhe saidلِصَٰحِبِهِۦto his companionلَا(Do) notتَحْزَنْgrieveإِنَّindeedٱللَّهَAllahمَعَنَا(is) with usفَأَنزَلَThen Allah sent downٱللَّهُThen Allah sent downسَكِينَتَهُۥHis tranquilityعَلَيْهِupon himوَأَيَّدَهُۥand supported himبِجُنُودٍwith forcesلَّمْwhich you did not seeتَرَوْهَاwhich you did not seeوَجَعَلَand madeكَلِمَةَ(the) wordٱلَّذِينَ(of) those whoكَفَرُوا۟disbelievedٱلسُّفْلَىٰthe lowestوَكَلِمَةُwhile (the) Wordٱللَّهِ(of) Allahهِىَit (is)ٱلْعُلْيَاthe highestوَٱللَّهُAnd Allahعَزِيزٌ(is) All-MightyحَكِيمٌAll-Wise40
ٱنفِرُوا۟Go forthخِفَافًاlightوَثِقَالًاor heavyوَجَٰهِدُوا۟and striveبِأَمْوَٰلِكُمْwith your wealthوَأَنفُسِكُمْand your livesفِىinسَبِيلِ(the) wayٱللَّهِ(of) AllahذَٰلِكُمْThatخَيْرٌ(is) betterلَّكُمْfor youإِنifكُنتُمْyouتَعْلَمُونَknow41
لَوْIfكَانَit had beenعَرَضًاa gainقَرِيبًاnearوَسَفَرًاand a journeyقَاصِدًاeasyلَّٱتَّبَعُوكَsurely they (would) have followed youوَلَٰكِنۢbutبَعُدَتْwas longعَلَيْهِمُfor themٱلشُّقَّةُthe distanceوَسَيَحْلِفُونَAnd they will swearبِٱللَّهِby AllahلَوِIfٱسْتَطَعْنَاwe were ableلَخَرَجْنَاcertainly we (would) have come forthمَعَكُمْwith youيُهْلِكُونَThey destroyأَنفُسَهُمْtheir own selvesوَٱللَّهُand Allahيَعْلَمُknowsإِنَّهُمْ(that) indeed, theyلَكَٰذِبُونَ(are) surely liars42
عَفَا(May) Allah forgiveٱللَّهُ(May) Allah forgiveعَنكَyouلِمَWhy (did)أَذِنتَyou grant leaveلَهُمْto themحَتَّىٰuntilيَتَبَيَّنَ(became) evidentلَكَto youٱلَّذِينَthose whoصَدَقُوا۟were truthfulوَتَعْلَمَand you knewٱلْكَٰذِبِينَthe liars43
لَا(Would) not ask your permissionيَسْتَـْٔذِنُكَ(Would) not ask your permissionٱلَّذِينَthose whoيُؤْمِنُونَbelieveبِٱللَّهِin Allahوَٱلْيَوْمِand the Dayٱلْءَاخِرِthe Lastأَنthatيُجَٰهِدُوا۟they striveبِأَمْوَٰلِهِمْwith their wealthوَأَنفُسِهِمْand their livesوَٱللَّهُAnd Allahعَلِيمٌۢ(is) All-Knowerبِٱلْمُتَّقِينَof the righteous44
إِنَّمَاOnlyيَسْتَـْٔذِنُكَask your leaveٱلَّذِينَthose whoلَا(do) notيُؤْمِنُونَbelieveبِٱللَّهِin Allahوَٱلْيَوْمِand the Dayٱلْءَاخِرِthe Lastوَٱرْتَابَتْand (are in) doubtsقُلُوبُهُمْtheir heartsفَهُمْso theyفِىinرَيْبِهِمْtheir doubtsيَتَرَدَّدُونَthey waver45
وَلَوْAnd ifأَرَادُوا۟they had wishedٱلْخُرُوجَ(to) go forthلَأَعَدُّوا۟surely they (would) have preparedلَهُۥfor itعُدَّةً(some) preparationوَلَٰكِنButكَرِهَAllah dislikedٱللَّهُAllah dislikedٱنۢبِعَاثَهُمْtheir being sentفَثَبَّطَهُمْso He made them lag behindوَقِيلَand it was saidٱقْعُدُوا۟Sitمَعَwithٱلْقَٰعِدِينَthose who sit46
لَوْIfخَرَجُوا۟they (had) gone forthفِيكُمwith youمَّاnotزَادُوكُمْthey (would) have increased youإِلَّاexceptخَبَالًا(in) confusionوَلَأَوْضَعُوا۟and would have been activeخِلَٰلَكُمْin your midstيَبْغُونَكُمُseeking (for) youٱلْفِتْنَةَdissensionوَفِيكُمْAnd among you (are some)سَمَّٰعُونَwho would have listenedلَهُمْto themوَٱللَّهُAnd Allahعَلِيمٌۢ(is) All-Knowerبِٱلظَّٰلِمِينَof the wrongdoers47
لَقَدِVerilyٱبْتَغَوُا۟they had soughtٱلْفِتْنَةَdissensionمِنbeforeقَبْلُbeforeوَقَلَّبُوا۟and had upsetلَكَfor youٱلْأُمُورَthe mattersحَتَّىٰuntilجَآءَcameٱلْحَقُّthe truthوَظَهَرَand became manifestأَمْرُ(the) Order of Allahٱللَّهِ(the) Order of Allahوَهُمْwhile theyكَٰرِهُونَdisliked (it)48
وَمِنْهُمAnd among themمَّن(is he) whoيَقُولُsaysٱئْذَنGrant me leaveلِّىGrant me leaveوَلَاand (do) notتَفْتِنِّىٓput me to trialأَلَاSurelyفِىinٱلْفِتْنَةِthe trialسَقَطُوا۟they have fallenوَإِنَّAnd indeedجَهَنَّمَHellلَمُحِيطَةٌۢ(will) surely surroundبِٱلْكَٰفِرِينَthe disbelievers49
إِنIfتُصِبْكَbefalls youحَسَنَةٌgoodتَسُؤْهُمْit distresses themوَإِنbut ifتُصِبْكَbefalls youمُصِيبَةٌa calamityيَقُولُوا۟they sayقَدْVerilyأَخَذْنَآwe tookأَمْرَنَاour matterمِنbeforeقَبْلُbeforeوَيَتَوَلَّوا۟And they turn awayوَّهُمْwhile theyفَرِحُونَ(are) rejoicing50
قُلSayلَّنNeverيُصِيبَنَآwill befall usإِلَّاexceptمَاwhatكَتَبَAllah has decreedٱللَّهُAllah has decreedلَنَاfor usهُوَHeمَوْلَىٰنَا(is) our ProtectorوَعَلَىAnd onٱللَّهِAllahفَلْيَتَوَكَّلِ[so] let the believers put (their) trustٱلْمُؤْمِنُونَ[so] let the believers put (their) trust51
قُلْSayهَلْDoتَرَبَّصُونَyou awaitبِنَآfor usإِلَّآexceptإِحْدَىoneٱلْحُسْنَيَيْنِ(of) the two best (things)وَنَحْنُwhile weنَتَرَبَّصُ[we] awaitبِكُمْfor youأَنthatيُصِيبَكُمُAllah will afflict youٱللَّهُAllah will afflict youبِعَذَابٍwith a punishmentمِّنْfromعِندِهِۦٓ[near] Himأَوْorبِأَيْدِينَاby our handsفَتَرَبَّصُوٓا۟So waitإِنَّاindeed, weمَعَكُمwith youمُّتَرَبِّصُونَ(are) waiting52
قُلْSayأَنفِقُوا۟Spendطَوْعًاwillinglyأَوْorكَرْهًاunwillinglyلَّنneverيُتَقَبَّلَwill be acceptedمِنكُمْfrom youإِنَّكُمْIndeed, youكُنتُمْ[you] areقَوْمًاa peopleفَٰسِقِينَdefiantly disobedient53
وَمَاAnd notمَنَعَهُمْprevents themأَنthatتُقْبَلَis acceptedمِنْهُمْfrom themنَفَقَٰتُهُمْtheir contributionsإِلَّآexceptأَنَّهُمْthat theyكَفَرُوا۟disbelieveبِٱللَّهِin Allahوَبِرَسُولِهِۦand in His Messengerوَلَاand notيَأْتُونَthey comeٱلصَّلَوٰةَ(to) the prayerإِلَّاexceptوَهُمْwhile theyكُسَالَىٰ(are) lazyوَلَاand notيُنفِقُونَthey spendإِلَّاexceptوَهُمْwhile theyكَٰرِهُونَ(are) unwilling54
فَلَاSo (let) notتُعْجِبْكَimpress youأَمْوَٰلُهُمْtheir wealthوَلَآand notأَوْلَٰدُهُمْtheir childrenإِنَّمَاOnlyيُرِيدُAllah intendsٱللَّهُAllah intendsلِيُعَذِّبَهُمto punish themبِهَاwith itفِىinٱلْحَيَوٰةِthe lifeٱلدُّنْيَا(of) the worldوَتَزْهَقَand should departأَنفُسُهُمْtheir soulsوَهُمْwhile theyكَٰفِرُونَ(are) disbelievers55
وَيَحْلِفُونَAnd they swearبِٱللَّهِby Allahإِنَّهُمْindeed, theyلَمِنكُمْsurely (are) of youوَمَاwhile notهُمtheyمِّنكُمْ(are) of youوَلَٰكِنَّهُمْbut theyقَوْمٌ(are) a peopleيَفْرَقُونَ(who) are afraid56
لَوْIfيَجِدُونَthey could findمَلْجَـًٔاa refugeأَوْorمَغَٰرَٰتٍcavesأَوْorمُدَّخَلًاa place to enterلَّوَلَّوْا۟surely, they would turnإِلَيْهِto itوَهُمْand theyيَجْمَحُونَrun wild57
وَمِنْهُمAnd among themمَّن(is he) whoيَلْمِزُكَcriticizes youفِىconcerningٱلصَّدَقَٰتِthe charitiesفَإِنْThen ifأُعْطُوا۟they are givenمِنْهَاfrom itرَضُوا۟they are pleasedوَإِنbut ifلَّمْnotيُعْطَوْا۟they are givenمِنْهَآfrom itإِذَاthenهُمْtheyيَسْخَطُونَ(are) enraged58
وَلَوْAnd ifأَنَّهُمْ[that] theyرَضُوا۟(were) satisfiedمَآ(with) whatءَاتَىٰهُمُAllah gave themٱللَّهُAllah gave themوَرَسُولُهُۥand His Messengerوَقَالُوا۟and saidحَسْبُنَاSufficient for usٱللَّهُ(is) AllahسَيُؤْتِينَاAllah will give usٱللَّهُAllah will give usمِنofفَضْلِهِۦHis Bountyوَرَسُولُهُۥٓand His MessengerإِنَّآIndeed, weإِلَىtoٱللَّهِAllahرَٰغِبُونَturn our hopes59
إِنَّمَاOnlyٱلصَّدَقَٰتُthe charitiesلِلْفُقَرَآءِ(are) for the poorوَٱلْمَسَٰكِينِand the needyوَٱلْعَٰمِلِينَand those who collectعَلَيْهَاthemوَٱلْمُؤَلَّفَةِand the ones inclinedقُلُوبُهُمْtheir heartsوَفِىand inٱلرِّقَابِthe (freeing of) the necksوَٱلْغَٰرِمِينَand for those in debtوَفِىand inسَبِيلِ(the) wayٱللَّهِ(of) Allahوَٱبْنِand the wayfarer ٱلسَّبِيلِand the wayfarer فَرِيضَةًan obligationمِّنَfromٱللَّهِAllahوَٱللَّهُAnd Allahعَلِيمٌ(is) All-KnowingحَكِيمٌAll-Wise60
وَمِنْهُمُAnd among themٱلَّذِينَ(are) those whoيُؤْذُونَhurtٱلنَّبِىَّthe Prophetوَيَقُولُونَand they sayهُوَHe isأُذُنٌ(all) earقُلْSayأُذُنُAn earخَيْرٍ(of) goodnessلَّكُمْfor youيُؤْمِنُhe believesبِٱللَّهِin Allahوَيُؤْمِنُand believesلِلْمُؤْمِنِينَthe believersوَرَحْمَةٌand (is) a mercyلِّلَّذِينَto those whoءَامَنُوا۟believeمِنكُمْamong youوَٱلَّذِينَAnd those whoيُؤْذُونَhurtرَسُولَ(the) Messengerٱللَّهِ(of) Allahلَهُمْfor themعَذَابٌ(is) a punishmentأَلِيمٌpainful61
يَحْلِفُونَThey swearبِٱللَّهِby Allahلَكُمْto youلِيُرْضُوكُمْto please youوَٱللَّهُAnd Allahوَرَسُولُهُۥٓand His Messengerأَحَقُّ(have) more rightأَنthatيُرْضُوهُthey should please Himإِنifكَانُوا۟they areمُؤْمِنِينَbelievers62
أَلَمْDo notيَعْلَمُوٓا۟they knowأَنَّهُۥthat heمَنwhoيُحَادِدِopposesٱللَّهَAllahوَرَسُولَهُۥand His Messengerفَأَنَّ[then] thatلَهُۥfor himنَارَ(is the) Fireجَهَنَّمَ(of) Hellخَٰلِدًا(will) abide foreverفِيهَاin itذَٰلِكَThatٱلْخِزْىُ(is) the disgraceٱلْعَظِيمُthe great63
يَحْذَرُFearٱلْمُنَٰفِقُونَthe hypocritesأَنlestتُنَزَّلَbe revealedعَلَيْهِمْabout themسُورَةٌa Surahتُنَبِّئُهُمinforming themبِمَاof whatفِى(is) inقُلُوبِهِمْtheir heartsقُلِSayٱسْتَهْزِءُوٓا۟MockإِنَّindeedٱللَّهَAllahمُخْرِجٌ(will) bring forthمَّاwhatتَحْذَرُونَyou fear64
وَلَئِنAnd ifسَأَلْتَهُمْyou ask themلَيَقُولُنَّsurely they will sayإِنَّمَاOnlyكُنَّاwe wereنَخُوضُconversingوَنَلْعَبُand playingقُلْSayأَبِٱللَّهِIs it Allahوَءَايَٰتِهِۦand His Versesوَرَسُولِهِۦand His Messengerكُنتُمْ(that) you wereتَسْتَهْزِءُونَmocking65
لَا(Do) notتَعْتَذِرُوا۟make excuseقَدْverilyكَفَرْتُمyou have disbelievedبَعْدَafterإِيمَٰنِكُمْyour beliefإِنIfنَّعْفُWe pardonعَن[on]طَآئِفَةٍa partyمِّنكُمْof youنُعَذِّبْWe will punishطَآئِفَةًۢa partyبِأَنَّهُمْbecause theyكَانُوا۟wereمُجْرِمِينَcriminals66
ٱلْمُنَٰفِقُونَThe hypocrite menوَٱلْمُنَٰفِقَٰتُand the hypocrite womenبَعْضُهُمsome of themمِّنۢ(are) ofبَعْضٍothersيَأْمُرُونَThey enjoinبِٱلْمُنكَرِthe wrongوَيَنْهَوْنَand forbidعَنِwhatٱلْمَعْرُوفِ(is) the rightوَيَقْبِضُونَand they closeأَيْدِيَهُمْtheir handsنَسُوا۟They forgetٱللَّهَAllahفَنَسِيَهُمْso He has forgotten themإِنَّIndeedٱلْمُنَٰفِقِينَthe hypocritesهُمُthey (are)ٱلْفَٰسِقُونَthe defiantly disobedient67
وَعَدَAllah has promisedٱللَّهُAllah has promisedٱلْمُنَٰفِقِينَthe hypocrite menوَٱلْمُنَٰفِقَٰتِand the hypocrite womenوَٱلْكُفَّارَand the disbelieversنَارَFireجَهَنَّمَ(of) Hellخَٰلِدِينَthey (will) abide foreverفِيهَاin itهِىَIt (is)حَسْبُهُمْsufficient for themوَلَعَنَهُمُAnd Allah has cursed themٱللَّهُAnd Allah has cursed themوَلَهُمْand for themعَذَابٌ(is) a punishmentمُّقِيمٌenduring68
كَٱلَّذِينَLike thoseمِنbefore youقَبْلِكُمْbefore youكَانُوٓا۟they wereأَشَدَّmightierمِنكُمْthan youقُوَّةً(in) strengthوَأَكْثَرَand more abundantأَمْوَٰلًا(in) wealthوَأَوْلَٰدًاand childrenفَٱسْتَمْتَعُوا۟So they enjoyedبِخَلَٰقِهِمْtheir portionفَٱسْتَمْتَعْتُمand you have enjoyedبِخَلَٰقِكُمْyour portionكَمَاlikeٱسْتَمْتَعَenjoyedٱلَّذِينَthoseمِنbefore youقَبْلِكُمbefore youبِخَلَٰقِهِمْtheir portionوَخُضْتُمْand you indulgeكَٱلَّذِىlike the one whoخَاضُوٓا۟indulges (in idle talk)أُو۟لَٰٓئِكَThoseحَبِطَتْworthlessأَعْمَٰلُهُمْ(are) their deedsفِىinٱلدُّنْيَاthe worldوَٱلْءَاخِرَةِand (in) the Hereafterوَأُو۟لَٰٓئِكَAnd thoseهُمُtheyٱلْخَٰسِرُونَ(are) the losers69
أَلَمْHas notيَأْتِهِمْcome to themنَبَأُ(the) newsٱلَّذِينَ(of) those whoمِن(were) before themقَبْلِهِمْ(were) before themقَوْمِ(the) peopleنُوحٍ(of) Nuhوَعَادٍand Aadوَثَمُودَand Thamudوَقَوْمِand (the) peopleإِبْرَٰهِيمَ(of) Ibrahimوَأَصْحَٰبِand (the) companionsمَدْيَنَ(of) Madyanوَٱلْمُؤْتَفِكَٰتِand the towns overturnedأَتَتْهُمْCame to themرُسُلُهُمtheir Messengersبِٱلْبَيِّنَٰتِwith clear proofsفَمَاAnd notكَانَwasٱللَّهُAllahلِيَظْلِمَهُمْto wrong themوَلَٰكِنbutكَانُوٓا۟they were (to)أَنفُسَهُمْthemselvesيَظْلِمُونَdoing wrong70
وَٱلْمُؤْمِنُونَAnd the believing menوَٱلْمُؤْمِنَٰتُand the believing womenبَعْضُهُمْsome of themأَوْلِيَآءُ(are) alliesبَعْضٍ(of) othersيَأْمُرُونَThey enjoinبِٱلْمَعْرُوفِthe rightوَيَنْهَوْنَand forbidعَنِfromٱلْمُنكَرِthe wrongوَيُقِيمُونَand they establishٱلصَّلَوٰةَthe prayerوَيُؤْتُونَand giveٱلزَّكَوٰةَthe zakahوَيُطِيعُونَand they obeyٱللَّهَAllahوَرَسُولَهُۥٓand His Messengerأُو۟لَٰٓئِكَThoseسَيَرْحَمُهُمُAllah will have mercy on themٱللَّهُAllah will have mercy on themإِنَّIndeedٱللَّهَAllahعَزِيزٌ(is) All-MightyحَكِيمٌAll-Wise71
وَعَدَ(Has been) promisedٱللَّهُ(by) Allahٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ(to) the believing menوَٱلْمُؤْمِنَٰتِand the believing womenجَنَّٰتٍGardensتَجْرِىflowمِنfromتَحْتِهَاunderneath itٱلْأَنْهَٰرُthe riversخَٰلِدِينَ(will) abide foreverفِيهَاin itوَمَسَٰكِنَand dwellingsطَيِّبَةًblessedفِىinجَنَّٰتِGardensعَدْنٍ(of) everlasting blissوَرِضْوَٰنٌBut the pleasureمِّنَofٱللَّهِAllahأَكْبَرُ(is) greaterذَٰلِكَThatهُوَitٱلْفَوْزُ(is) the successٱلْعَظِيمُgreat72
يَٰٓأَيُّهَاO ProphetٱلنَّبِىُّO ProphetجَٰهِدِStrive (against)ٱلْكُفَّارَthe disbelieversوَٱلْمُنَٰفِقِينَand the hypocritesوَٱغْلُظْand be sternعَلَيْهِمْwith themوَمَأْوَىٰهُمْAnd their abodeجَهَنَّمُ(is) Hellوَبِئْسَand wretchedٱلْمَصِيرُ(is) the destination73
يَحْلِفُونَThey swearبِٱللَّهِby Allahمَا(that) they said nothingقَالُوا۟(that) they said nothingوَلَقَدْwhile certainlyقَالُوا۟they saidكَلِمَةَ(the) wordٱلْكُفْرِ(of) the disbeliefوَكَفَرُوا۟and disbelievedبَعْدَafterإِسْلَٰمِهِمْtheir (pretense of) Islamوَهَمُّوا۟and plannedبِمَا[of] whatلَمْnotيَنَالُوا۟they could attainوَمَاAnd notنَقَمُوٓا۟they were resentfulإِلَّآexceptأَنْthatأَغْنَىٰهُمُAllah had enriched themٱللَّهُAllah had enriched themوَرَسُولُهُۥand His MessengerمِنofفَضْلِهِۦHis BountyفَإِنSo ifيَتُوبُوا۟they repentيَكُit isخَيْرًاbetterلَّهُمْfor themوَإِنand ifيَتَوَلَّوْا۟they turn awayيُعَذِّبْهُمُAllah will punish themٱللَّهُAllah will punish themعَذَابًا(with) a punishmentأَلِيمًاpainfulفِىinٱلدُّنْيَاthe worldوَٱلْءَاخِرَةِand (in) the HereafterوَمَاAnd notلَهُمْfor themفِىinٱلْأَرْضِthe earthمِنanyوَلِىٍّprotectorوَلَاand notنَصِيرٍa helper74
وَمِنْهُمAnd among themمَّنْ(is he) whoعَٰهَدَmade a covenantٱللَّهَ(with) AllahلَئِنْIfءَاتَىٰنَاHe gives usمِنofفَضْلِهِۦHis bountyلَنَصَّدَّقَنَّsurely we will give charityوَلَنَكُونَنَّand surely we will beمِنَamongٱلصَّٰلِحِينَthe righteous75
فَلَمَّآBut whenءَاتَىٰهُمHe gave themمِّنofفَضْلِهِۦHis Bountyبَخِلُوا۟they became stingyبِهِۦwith itوَتَوَلَّوا۟and turned awayوَّهُمwhile theyمُّعْرِضُونَ(were) averse76
فَأَعْقَبَهُمْSo He penalized themنِفَاقًا(with) hypocrisyفِىinقُلُوبِهِمْtheir heartsإِلَىٰuntilيَوْمِthe dayيَلْقَوْنَهُۥwhen they will meet Himبِمَآbecauseأَخْلَفُوا۟they brokeٱللَّهَ(the covenant with) Allahمَاwhatوَعَدُوهُthey had promised Himوَبِمَاand becauseكَانُوا۟they used toيَكْذِبُونَlie77
أَلَمْDo notيَعْلَمُوٓا۟they knowأَنَّthatٱللَّهَAllahيَعْلَمُknowsسِرَّهُمْtheir secretوَنَجْوَىٰهُمْand their secret conversationوَأَنَّand thatٱللَّهَAllahعَلَّٰمُ(is) All-Knowerٱلْغُيُوبِ(of) the unseen78
ٱلَّذِينَThose whoيَلْمِزُونَcriticizeٱلْمُطَّوِّعِينَthe ones who give willinglyمِنَofٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَthe believersفِىconcerningٱلصَّدَقَٰتِthe charitiesوَٱلَّذِينَand those whoلَاnotيَجِدُونَfindإِلَّاexceptجُهْدَهُمْtheir effortفَيَسْخَرُونَso they ridiculeمِنْهُمْthemسَخِرَAllah will ridiculeٱللَّهُAllah will ridiculeمِنْهُمْthemوَلَهُمْand for themعَذَابٌ(is) a punishmentأَلِيمٌpainful79
ٱسْتَغْفِرْAsk forgivenessلَهُمْfor themأَوْorلَا(do) notتَسْتَغْفِرْask forgivenessلَهُمْfor themإِنIfتَسْتَغْفِرْyou ask forgivenessلَهُمْfor themسَبْعِينَseventyمَرَّةًtimesفَلَنneverيَغْفِرَwill Allah forgiveٱللَّهُwill Allah forgiveلَهُمْ[for] themذَٰلِكَThatبِأَنَّهُمْ(is) because theyكَفَرُوا۟disbelievedبِٱللَّهِin Allahوَرَسُولِهِۦand His Messengerوَٱللَّهُand Allahلَا(does) notيَهْدِىguideٱلْقَوْمَthe peopleٱلْفَٰسِقِينَthe defiantly disobedient80
فَرِحَRejoiceٱلْمُخَلَّفُونَthose who remained behindبِمَقْعَدِهِمْin their stayingخِلَٰفَbehindرَسُولِ(the) Messengerٱللَّهِ(of) Allahوَكَرِهُوٓا۟and they dislikedأَنtoيُجَٰهِدُوا۟striveبِأَمْوَٰلِهِمْwith their wealthوَأَنفُسِهِمْand their livesفِىinسَبِيلِ(the) wayٱللَّهِ(of) Allahوَقَالُوا۟and they saidلَا(Do) notتَنفِرُوا۟go forthفِىinٱلْحَرِّthe heatقُلْSayنَارُ(The) Fireجَهَنَّمَ(of) Hellأَشَدُّ(is) more intenseحَرًّا(in) heatلَّوْIf (only)كَانُوا۟they couldيَفْقَهُونَunderstand81
فَلْيَضْحَكُوا۟So let them laughقَلِيلًاa littleوَلْيَبْكُوا۟and let them weepكَثِيرًاmuchجَزَآءًۢ(as) a recompenseبِمَاfor whatكَانُوا۟they used toيَكْسِبُونَearn82
فَإِنThen ifرَّجَعَكَAllah returns youٱللَّهُAllah returns youإِلَىٰtoطَآئِفَةٍa groupمِّنْهُمْof themفَٱسْتَـْٔذَنُوكَand they ask you permissionلِلْخُرُوجِto go outفَقُلthen sayلَّنNeverتَخْرُجُوا۟will you come outمَعِىَwith meأَبَدًاeverوَلَنand neverتُقَٰتِلُوا۟will you fightمَعِىَwith meعَدُوًّاany enemyإِنَّكُمْIndeed, youرَضِيتُمwere satisfiedبِٱلْقُعُودِwith sittingأَوَّلَ(the) firstمَرَّةٍtimeفَٱقْعُدُوا۟so sitمَعَwithٱلْخَٰلِفِينَthose who stay behind83
وَلَاAnd notتُصَلِّyou prayعَلَىٰٓforأَحَدٍanyمِّنْهُمof themمَّاتَwho diesأَبَدًاeverوَلَاand notتَقُمْyou standعَلَىٰbyقَبْرِهِۦٓhis graveإِنَّهُمْIndeed, theyكَفَرُوا۟disbelievedبِٱللَّهِin Allahوَرَسُولِهِۦand His Messengerوَمَاتُوا۟and diedوَهُمْwhile they wereفَٰسِقُونَdefiantly disobedient84
وَلَاAnd (let) notتُعْجِبْكَimpress youأَمْوَٰلُهُمْtheir wealthوَأَوْلَٰدُهُمْand their childrenإِنَّمَاOnlyيُرِيدُAllah intendsٱللَّهُAllah intendsأَنtoيُعَذِّبَهُمpunish themبِهَاwith itفِىinٱلدُّنْيَاthe worldوَتَزْهَقَand will departأَنفُسُهُمْtheir soulsوَهُمْwhile theyكَٰفِرُونَ(are) disbelievers85
وَإِذَآAnd whenأُنزِلَتْwas revealedسُورَةٌa Surahأَنْthatءَامِنُوا۟believeبِٱللَّهِin Allahوَجَٰهِدُوا۟and striveمَعَwithرَسُولِهِHis Messengerٱسْتَـْٔذَنَكَask your permissionأُو۟لُوا۟(the) menٱلطَّوْلِ(of) wealthمِنْهُمْamong themوَقَالُوا۟and saidذَرْنَاLeave usنَكُن(to) beمَّعَwithٱلْقَٰعِدِينَthose who sit86
رَضُوا۟They (were) satisfiedبِأَنtoيَكُونُوا۟beمَعَwithٱلْخَوَالِفِthose who stay behindوَطُبِعَand were sealedعَلَىٰ[on]قُلُوبِهِمْtheir heartsفَهُمْso theyلَا(do) notيَفْقَهُونَunderstand87
لَٰكِنِButٱلرَّسُولُthe Messengerوَٱلَّذِينَand those whoءَامَنُوا۟believedمَعَهُۥwith himجَٰهَدُوا۟stroveبِأَمْوَٰلِهِمْwith their wealthوَأَنفُسِهِمْand their livesوَأُو۟لَٰٓئِكَAnd thoseلَهُمُfor themٱلْخَيْرَٰتُ(are) the good thingsوَأُو۟لَٰٓئِكَand those هُمُtheyٱلْمُفْلِحُونَ(are) the successful ones88
أَعَدَّAllah has preparedٱللَّهُAllah has preparedلَهُمْfor themجَنَّٰتٍGardensتَجْرِىflowsمِنfromتَحْتِهَاunderneath itٱلْأَنْهَٰرُthe riversخَٰلِدِينَ(will) abide foreverفِيهَاin itذَٰلِكَThatٱلْفَوْزُ(is) the successٱلْعَظِيمُthe great89
وَجَآءَAnd cameٱلْمُعَذِّرُونَthe ones who make excusesمِنَofٱلْأَعْرَابِthe bedouinsلِيُؤْذَنَthat permission be grantedلَهُمْto themوَقَعَدَand satٱلَّذِينَthose whoكَذَبُوا۟liedٱللَّهَ(to) Allahوَرَسُولَهُۥand His MessengerسَيُصِيبُWill strikeٱلَّذِينَthose whoكَفَرُوا۟disbelievedمِنْهُمْamong themعَذَابٌa punishmentأَلِيمٌpainful90
لَّيْسَNotعَلَىonٱلضُّعَفَآءِthe weakوَلَاand notعَلَىonٱلْمَرْضَىٰthe sickوَلَاand notعَلَىonٱلَّذِينَthose whoلَاnotيَجِدُونَthey findمَاwhatيُنفِقُونَthey (can) spendحَرَجٌany blameإِذَاifنَصَحُوا۟they (are) sincereلِلَّهِto Allahوَرَسُولِهِۦand His MessengerمَاNotعَلَى(is) onٱلْمُحْسِنِينَthe good-doersمِنanyسَبِيلٍway (for blame)وَٱللَّهُAnd Allahغَفُورٌ(is) Oft-ForgivingرَّحِيمٌMost Merciful91
وَلَاAnd notعَلَىonٱلَّذِينَthose whoإِذَاwhenمَآwhenأَتَوْكَthey came to youلِتَحْمِلَهُمْthat you provide them with mountsقُلْتَyou saidلَآNotأَجِدُI findمَآwhatأَحْمِلُكُمْto mount youعَلَيْهِon [it]تَوَلَّوا۟They turned backوَّأَعْيُنُهُمْwith their eyesتَفِيضُflowingمِنَ[of]ٱلدَّمْعِ(with) the tearsحَزَنًا(of) sorrowأَلَّاthat notيَجِدُوا۟they findمَاwhatيُنفِقُونَthey (could) spend92
