وَمَاAnd notمِنanyدَآبَّةٍmoving creatureفِىinٱلْأَرْضِthe earthإِلَّاbutعَلَىonٱللَّهِAllahرِزْقُهَا(is) its provisionوَيَعْلَمُAnd He knowsمُسْتَقَرَّهَاits dwelling placeوَمُسْتَوْدَعَهَاand its place of storageكُلٌّAllفِى(is) inكِتَٰبٍa Recordمُّبِينٍclear6
وَهُوَAnd Heٱلَّذِى(is) the One Whoخَلَقَcreatedٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِthe heavensوَٱلْأَرْضَand the earthفِىinسِتَّةِsixأَيَّامٍepochsوَكَانَand His throne wasعَرْشُهُۥand His throne wasعَلَىonٱلْمَآءِthe waterلِيَبْلُوَكُمْthat He might test [you]أَيُّكُمْwhich of youأَحْسَنُ(is) bestعَمَلًا(in) deedوَلَئِنBut ifقُلْتَyou sayإِنَّكُمIndeed, youمَّبْعُوثُونَ(will be) resurrectedمِنۢafterبَعْدِafterٱلْمَوْتِ[the] deathلَيَقُولَنَّsurely would sayٱلَّذِينَthose whoكَفَرُوٓا۟disbelievedإِنْThis is notهَٰذَآThis is notإِلَّاbutسِحْرٌa magicمُّبِينٌclear7
وَلَئِنْAnd ifأَخَّرْنَاWe delayعَنْهُمُfrom themٱلْعَذَابَthe punishmentإِلَىٰٓforأُمَّةٍa timeمَّعْدُودَةٍdeterminedلَّيَقُولُنَّthey will surely sayمَاWhatيَحْبِسُهُۥٓdetains itأَلَاNo doubtيَوْمَ(On) the Dayيَأْتِيهِمْit comes to themلَيْسَnotمَصْرُوفًا(will be) avertedعَنْهُمْfrom themوَحَاقَand will surroundبِهِمthemمَّاwhatكَانُوا۟they used (to)بِهِۦmock at [it]يَسْتَهْزِءُونَmock at [it]8
وَلَئِنْAnd ifأَذَقْنَاWe give man a tasteٱلْإِنسَٰنَWe give man a tasteمِنَّا(of) Mercy from Usرَحْمَةً(of) Mercy from UsثُمَّthenنَزَعْنَٰهَاWe withdraw itمِنْهُfrom himإِنَّهُۥindeed, heلَيَـُٔوسٌ(is) despairingكَفُورٌ(and) ungrateful9
وَلَئِنْBut ifأَذَقْنَٰهُWe give him a tasteنَعْمَآءَ(of) favorبَعْدَafterضَرَّآءَhardshipمَسَّتْهُ(has) touched himلَيَقُولَنَّsurely, he will sayذَهَبَHave goneٱلسَّيِّـَٔاتُthe evilsعَنِّىٓfrom meإِنَّهُۥIndeed, heلَفَرِحٌ(is) exultantفَخُورٌ(and) boastful10
إِلَّاExceptٱلَّذِينَthose whoصَبَرُوا۟(are) patientوَعَمِلُوا۟and doٱلصَّٰلِحَٰتِthe good deedsأُو۟لَٰٓئِكَthoseلَهُمfor themمَّغْفِرَةٌ(will be) forgivenessوَأَجْرٌand a rewardكَبِيرٌgreat11
فَلَعَلَّكَThen possibly youتَارِكٌۢ(may) give upبَعْضَa partمَا(of) whatيُوحَىٰٓis revealedإِلَيْكَto youوَضَآئِقٌۢand straitenedبِهِۦby itصَدْرُكَyour breastأَنbecauseيَقُولُوا۟they sayلَوْلَآWhy notأُنزِلَis sent downعَلَيْهِfor himكَنزٌa treasureأَوْorجَآءَhas comeمَعَهُۥwith himمَلَكٌan AngelإِنَّمَآOnlyأَنتَyouنَذِيرٌ(are) a warnerوَٱللَّهُAnd Allahعَلَىٰ(is) onكُلِّeveryشَىْءٍthingوَكِيلٌa Guardian12
أَمْOrيَقُولُونَthey sayٱفْتَرَىٰهُHe has fabricated itقُلْSayفَأْتُوا۟Then bringبِعَشْرِtenسُوَرٍSurahsمِّثْلِهِۦlike itمُفْتَرَيَٰتٍfabricatedوَٱدْعُوا۟and callمَنِwhoeverٱسْتَطَعْتُمyou canمِّنbesides Allahدُونِbesides Allahٱللَّهِbesides Allahإِنifكُنتُمْyou areصَٰدِقِينَtruthful13
فَإِلَّمْThen if notيَسْتَجِيبُوا۟they respondلَكُمْto youفَٱعْلَمُوٓا۟then knowأَنَّمَآthatأُنزِلَit was sent downبِعِلْمِwith the knowledge of Allahٱللَّهِwith the knowledge of Allahوَأَنand thatلَّآ(there is) noإِلَٰهَgodإِلَّاexceptهُوَHimفَهَلْThen, wouldأَنتُمyouمُّسْلِمُونَ(be) Muslims14
مَنWhoever [is]كَانَWhoever [is]يُرِيدُdesiresٱلْحَيَوٰةَthe lifeٱلدُّنْيَا(of) the worldوَزِينَتَهَاand its adornmentsنُوَفِّWe will repay in fullإِلَيْهِمْto themأَعْمَٰلَهُمْ(for) their deedsفِيهَاthereinوَهُمْand theyفِيهَاin itلَاwill not be lessenedيُبْخَسُونَwill not be lessened15
أُو۟لَٰٓئِكَThoseٱلَّذِينَ(are) the ones who لَيْسَ(is) notلَهُمْfor themفِىinٱلْءَاخِرَةِthe Hereafterإِلَّاexceptٱلنَّارُthe FireوَحَبِطَAnd (has) gone in vainمَاwhatصَنَعُوا۟they didفِيهَاthereinوَبَٰطِلٌand (is) worthlessمَّاwhatكَانُوا۟they used (to)يَعْمَلُونَdo16
أَفَمَنThen is he whoكَانَisعَلَىٰonبَيِّنَةٍa clear proofمِّنfromرَّبِّهِۦhis Lordوَيَتْلُوهُand recites itشَاهِدٌa witnessمِّنْهُfrom Himوَمِنand before itقَبْلِهِۦand before itكِتَٰبُ(was) a Bookمُوسَىٰٓ(of) Musaإِمَامًا(as) a guideوَرَحْمَةًand (as) mercyأُو۟لَٰٓئِكَThoseيُؤْمِنُونَbelieveبِهِۦin itوَمَنBut whoeverيَكْفُرْdisbelievesبِهِۦin itمِنَamongٱلْأَحْزَابِthe sectsفَٱلنَّارُthen the Fireمَوْعِدُهُۥ(will be) his promised (meeting) placeفَلَاSo (do) notتَكُbeفِىinمِرْيَةٍdoubtمِّنْهُabout itإِنَّهُIndeed, itٱلْحَقُّ(is) the truthمِنfromرَّبِّكَyour Lordوَلَٰكِنَّbutأَكْثَرَmostٱلنَّاسِ(of) the peopleلَا(do) notيُؤْمِنُونَbelieve17
وَمَنْAnd whoأَظْلَمُ(is) more unjustمِمَّنِthan (he) whoٱفْتَرَىٰinventsعَلَىagainstٱللَّهِAllahكَذِبًاa lieأُو۟لَٰٓئِكَThoseيُعْرَضُونَwill be presentedعَلَىٰbeforeرَبِّهِمْtheir Lordوَيَقُولُand will sayٱلْأَشْهَٰدُthe witnessesهَٰٓؤُلَآءِThese (are)ٱلَّذِينَthose whoكَذَبُوا۟liedعَلَىٰagainstرَبِّهِمْtheir LordأَلَاNo doubtلَعْنَةُ(The) curse of Allahٱللَّهِ(The) curse of Allahعَلَى(is) onٱلظَّٰلِمِينَthe wrongdoers18
ٱلَّذِينَThose whoيَصُدُّونَhinderعَنfromسَبِيلِ(the) wayٱللَّهِ(of) Allahوَيَبْغُونَهَاand seek (in) itعِوَجًاcrookednessوَهُمwhile theyبِٱلْءَاخِرَةِin the Hereafterهُمْ[they]كَٰفِرُونَ(are) disbelievers19
أُو۟لَٰٓئِكَThoseلَمْnotيَكُونُوا۟will beمُعْجِزِينَ(able to) escapeفِىinٱلْأَرْضِthe earthوَمَاand notكَانَisلَهُمfor themمِّنbesidesدُونِbesidesٱللَّهِAllahمِنْanyأَوْلِيَآءَprotectorsيُضَٰعَفُAnd will be doubledلَهُمُfor themٱلْعَذَابُthe punishmentمَاNotكَانُوا۟they wereيَسْتَطِيعُونَableٱلسَّمْعَ(to) hearوَمَاand notكَانُوا۟they used (to)يُبْصِرُونَsee20
أُو۟لَٰٓئِكَThoseٱلَّذِينَ(are) the ones whoخَسِرُوٓا۟(have) lostأَنفُسَهُمْtheir soulsوَضَلَّand lostعَنْهُمfrom themمَّا(is) whatكَانُوا۟they usedيَفْتَرُونَ(to) invent21
لَاNoجَرَمَdoubtأَنَّهُمْthat theyفِىinٱلْءَاخِرَةِthe Hereafterهُمُ[they]ٱلْأَخْسَرُونَ(will be) the greatest losers22
إِنَّIndeedٱلَّذِينَthose whoءَامَنُوا۟believeوَعَمِلُوا۟and doٱلصَّٰلِحَٰتِgood deedsوَأَخْبَتُوٓا۟and humble themselvesإِلَىٰbeforeرَبِّهِمْtheir Lordأُو۟لَٰٓئِكَthoseأَصْحَٰبُ(are the) companionsٱلْجَنَّةِ(of) Paradiseهُمْtheyفِيهَاin itخَٰلِدُونَ(will) abide forever23
مَثَلُ(The) exampleٱلْفَرِيقَيْنِ(of) the two partiesكَٱلْأَعْمَىٰ(is) like the blindوَٱلْأَصَمِّand the deafوَٱلْبَصِيرِand the seerوَٱلسَّمِيعِand the hearerهَلْAreيَسْتَوِيَانِthey equalمَثَلًا(in) comparisonأَفَلَاThen, will notتَذَكَّرُونَyou take heed24
وَلَقَدْAnd verilyأَرْسَلْنَاWe sentنُوحًاNuhإِلَىٰtoقَوْمِهِۦٓhis peopleإِنِّىIndeed, I amلَكُمْto youنَذِيرٌa warnerمُّبِينٌclear25
أَنThatلَّا(do) notتَعْبُدُوٓا۟worshipإِلَّاexceptٱللَّهَAllahإِنِّىٓIndeed, Iأَخَافُ[I] fearعَلَيْكُمْfor youعَذَابَ(the) punishmentيَوْمٍ(of) a Dayأَلِيمٍpainful26
فَقَالَSo saidٱلْمَلَأُthe chiefsٱلَّذِينَ(of) those whoكَفَرُوا۟disbelievedمِنfromقَوْمِهِۦhis peopleمَاNotنَرَىٰكَwe see youإِلَّاbutبَشَرًاa manمِّثْلَنَاlike usوَمَاand notنَرَىٰكَwe see youٱتَّبَعَكَfollowed [you]إِلَّاexceptٱلَّذِينَthose whoهُمْ[they]أَرَاذِلُنَا(are) the lowest of usبَادِىَimmature in opinionٱلرَّأْىِimmature in opinionوَمَاAnd notنَرَىٰwe seeلَكُمْin youعَلَيْنَاover usمِنanyفَضْلٍۢmeritبَلْnayنَظُنُّكُمْwe think youكَٰذِبِينَ(are) liars27
قَالَHe saidيَٰقَوْمِO my peopleأَرَءَيْتُمْDo you seeإِنifكُنتُI wasعَلَىٰonبَيِّنَةٍ(the) clear proofمِّنfromرَّبِّىmy Lordوَءَاتَىٰنِىwhile He has given meرَحْمَةًmercyمِّنْfromعِندِهِۦHimselfفَعُمِّيَتْbut (it) has been obscuredعَلَيْكُمْfrom youأَنُلْزِمُكُمُوهَاshould We compel you (to accept) itوَأَنتُمْwhile you (are)لَهَاaverse to itكَٰرِهُونَaverse to it28
وَيَٰقَوْمِAnd O my peopleلَآnotأَسْـَٔلُكُمْI ask (of) youعَلَيْهِfor itمَالًاany wealthإِنْNotأَجْرِىَ(is) my rewardإِلَّاexceptعَلَىfromٱللَّهِAllahوَمَآAnd notأَنَاI amبِطَارِدِgoing to drive awayٱلَّذِينَthose whoءَامَنُوٓا۟believedإِنَّهُمIndeed, theyمُّلَٰقُوا۟(will) be meetingرَبِّهِمْtheir Lordوَلَٰكِنِّىٓbut Iأَرَىٰكُمْsee youقَوْمًا(are) a peopleتَجْهَلُونَignorant29
وَيَٰقَوْمِAnd O my peopleمَنWhoيَنصُرُنِىwould help meمِنَagainstٱللَّهِAllahإِنifطَرَدتُّهُمْI drove them awayأَفَلَاThen, will notتَذَكَّرُونَyou take heed30
وَلَآAnd notأَقُولُI sayلَكُمْto youعِندِى(that) with meخَزَآئِنُ(are the) treasuresٱللَّهِ(of) Allahوَلَآand notأَعْلَمُI knowٱلْغَيْبَthe unseenوَلَآand notأَقُولُI sayإِنِّىthat I amمَلَكٌan Angelوَلَآand notأَقُولُI sayلِلَّذِينَfor those whomتَزْدَرِىٓlook down uponأَعْيُنُكُمْyour eyesلَنneverيُؤْتِيَهُمُwill Allah give themٱللَّهُwill Allah give themخَيْرًاany goodٱللَّهُAllahأَعْلَمُknows bestبِمَاwhatفِىٓ(is) inأَنفُسِهِمْtheir soulsإِنِّىٓIndeed, Iإِذًاthenلَّمِنَ(will be) surely ofٱلظَّٰلِمِينَthe wrongdoers31
قَالُوا۟They saidيَٰنُوحُO NuhقَدْIndeedجَٰدَلْتَنَاyou disputed with usفَأَكْثَرْتَand you (have been) frequentجِدَٰلَنَا(in) dispute with usفَأْتِنَاSo bring usبِمَاwhatتَعِدُنَآyou threaten us (with)إِنifكُنتَyou areمِنَofٱلصَّٰدِقِينَthe truthful32
قَالَHe saidإِنَّمَاOnlyيَأْتِيكُمwill bring it (on) youبِهِwill bring it (on) youٱللَّهُAllahإِنifشَآءَHe willsوَمَآand notأَنتُمyou (are)بِمُعْجِزِينَone who (can) escape (it)33
وَلَاAnd (will) notيَنفَعُكُمْbenefit youنُصْحِىٓmy adviceإِنْ(even) ifأَرَدتُّI wishأَنْtoأَنصَحَ[I] adviseلَكُمْ[to] youإِنifكَانَit was Allah'sٱللَّهُit was Allah'sيُرِيدُwillأَنtoيُغْوِيَكُمْlet you go astrayهُوَHe (is)رَبُّكُمْyour Lordوَإِلَيْهِand to Himتُرْجَعُونَyou will be returned34
أَمْOrيَقُولُونَ(do) they sayٱفْتَرَىٰهُHe has invented itقُلْSayإِنِIfٱفْتَرَيْتُهُۥI have invented itفَعَلَىَّthen on meإِجْرَامِى(is) my crimeوَأَنَاbut I amبَرِىٓءٌinnocentمِّمَّاof whatتُجْرِمُونَcrimes you commit35
وَأُوحِىَAnd it was revealedإِلَىٰtoنُوحٍNuhأَنَّهُۥThatلَنwill neverيُؤْمِنَbelieveمِنfromقَوْمِكَyour peopleإِلَّاexceptمَن(those) whoقَدْhave alreadyءَامَنَbelievedفَلَاSo (do) notتَبْتَئِسْ(be) distressedبِمَاby whatكَانُوا۟they have beenيَفْعَلُونَdoing36
وَٱصْنَعِAnd constructٱلْفُلْكَthe shipبِأَعْيُنِنَاunder Our Eyesوَوَحْيِنَاand Our inspirationوَلَاand (do) notتُخَٰطِبْنِىaddress Meفِىconcerningٱلَّذِينَthose whoظَلَمُوٓا۟wrongedإِنَّهُمindeed, they (are)مُّغْرَقُونَthe ones (to be) drowned37
وَيَصْنَعُAnd he was constructingٱلْفُلْكَthe shipوَكُلَّمَاand every timeمَرَّpassedعَلَيْهِby himمَلَأٌ(the) chiefsمِّنofقَوْمِهِۦhis peopleسَخِرُوا۟they ridiculedمِنْهُ[of] himقَالَHe saidإِنIfتَسْخَرُوا۟you ridiculeمِنَّاusفَإِنَّاthen weنَسْخَرُcan ridiculeمِنكُمْyouكَمَاasتَسْخَرُونَyou ridicule38
فَسَوْفَAnd soonتَعْلَمُونَyou will knowمَن(on) whomيَأْتِيهِwill comeعَذَابٌa punishmentيُخْزِيهِ(that) will disgrace himوَيَحِلُّand will descendعَلَيْهِon himعَذَابٌa punishmentمُّقِيمٌlasting39
حَتَّىٰٓTillإِذَاwhenجَآءَcameأَمْرُنَاOur commandوَفَارَand overflowedٱلتَّنُّورُthe ovenقُلْنَاWe saidٱحْمِلْLoadفِيهَاin itمِنofكُلٍّevery kindزَوْجَيْنِa pairٱثْنَيْنِtwoوَأَهْلَكَand your familyإِلَّاexceptمَنwhoسَبَقَhas precededعَلَيْهِagainst himٱلْقَوْلُthe wordوَمَنْand whoeverءَامَنَbelievedوَمَآAnd notءَامَنَbelievedمَعَهُۥٓwith himإِلَّاexceptقَلِيلٌa few40
وَقَالَAnd he saidٱرْكَبُوا۟Embarkفِيهَاin itبِسْمِin the nameٱللَّهِof Allahمَجْرىٰهَا(is) its courseوَمُرْسَىٰهَآand its anchorageإِنَّIndeedرَبِّىmy Lordلَغَفُورٌ(is) certainly Oft-ForgivingرَّحِيمٌMost Merciful41
وَهِىَAnd itتَجْرِىsailedبِهِمْwith themفِىonمَوْجٍthe wavesكَٱلْجِبَالِlike mountainsوَنَادَىٰand Nuh called outنُوحٌand Nuh called outٱبْنَهُۥ(to) his sonوَكَانَand he wasفِى[in]مَعْزِلٍapartيَٰبُنَىَّO my sonٱرْكَبEmbarkمَّعَنَاwith usوَلَاand (do) notتَكُنbeمَّعَwithٱلْكَٰفِرِينَthe disbelievers42
قَالَHe saidسَـَٔاوِىٓI will betake myselfإِلَىٰtoجَبَلٍa mountainيَعْصِمُنِى(that) will save meمِنَfromٱلْمَآءِthe waterقَالَHe saidلَا(There is) noعَاصِمَprotectorٱلْيَوْمَtodayمِنْfromأَمْرِthe Command of Allahٱللَّهِthe Command of Allahإِلَّاexceptمَن(on) whomرَّحِمَHe has mercyوَحَالَAnd cameبَيْنَهُمَا(in) between themٱلْمَوْجُthe wavesفَكَانَso he wasمِنَamongٱلْمُغْرَقِينَthe drowned43
وَقِيلَAnd it was saidيَٰٓأَرْضُO earthٱبْلَعِىSwallowمَآءَكِyour waterوَيَٰسَمَآءُand O skyأَقْلِعِىWithholdوَغِيضَAnd subsidedٱلْمَآءُthe waterوَقُضِىَand was fulfilledٱلْأَمْرُthe CommandوَٱسْتَوَتْAnd it restedعَلَىonٱلْجُودِىِّthe JudiوَقِيلَAnd it was saidبُعْدًاAwayلِّلْقَوْمِwith the peopleٱلظَّٰلِمِينَthe wrongdoers44
وَنَادَىٰAnd Nuh calledنُوحٌAnd Nuh calledرَّبَّهُۥ(to) his Lordفَقَالَand saidرَبِّO my LordإِنَّIndeedٱبْنِىmy sonمِنْ(is) ofأَهْلِىmy familyوَإِنَّand indeedوَعْدَكَYour promiseٱلْحَقُّ(is) trueوَأَنتَand Youأَحْكَمُ(are) the Most Justٱلْحَٰكِمِينَ(of) the judges45
قَالَHe saidيَٰنُوحُO NuhإِنَّهُۥIndeed, heلَيْسَ(is) notمِنْofأَهْلِكَyour familyإِنَّهُۥindeed, [he]عَمَلٌ(his) deedغَيْرُ(is) other thanصَٰلِحٍrighteousفَلَاso (do) notتَسْـَٔلْنِask Meمَا(about) whatلَيْسَnotلَكَyou haveبِهِۦof itعِلْمٌany knowledgeإِنِّىٓIndeed, Iأَعِظُكَadmonish youأَنlestتَكُونَyou beمِنَamongٱلْجَٰهِلِينَthe ignorant46
قَالَHe saidرَبِّO my LordإِنِّىٓIndeed, Iأَعُوذُseek refugeبِكَin YouأَنْthatأَسْـَٔلَكَI (should) ask YouمَاwhatلَيْسَnotلِىI haveبِهِۦof itعِلْمٌknowledgeوَإِلَّاAnd unlessتَغْفِرْYou forgiveلِىmeوَتَرْحَمْنِىٓand You have mercy on meأَكُنI will beمِّنَamongٱلْخَٰسِرِينَthe losers47
قِيلَIt was saidيَٰنُوحُO NuhٱهْبِطْGo downبِسَلَٰمٍwith peaceمِّنَّاfrom Usوَبَرَكَٰتٍand blessingsعَلَيْكَon youوَعَلَىٰٓand onأُمَمٍthe nationsمِّمَّنfrom thoseمَّعَكَwith youوَأُمَمٌBut (to other) nationsسَنُمَتِّعُهُمْWe will grant enjoymentثُمَّthenيَمَسُّهُمwill touch themمِّنَّاfrom Usعَذَابٌa punishmentأَلِيمٌpainful48
تِلْكَThisمِنْ(is) fromأَنۢبَآءِthe newsٱلْغَيْبِ(of) the unseenنُوحِيهَآ(which) We revealإِلَيْكَto youمَاNotكُنتَyou wereتَعْلَمُهَآknowing itأَنتَyouوَلَاand notقَوْمُكَyour peopleمِنfromقَبْلِbeforeهَٰذَاthisفَٱصْبِرْSo be patientإِنَّindeedٱلْعَٰقِبَةَthe endلِلْمُتَّقِينَ(is) for the God fearing49
وَإِلَىٰAnd toعَادٍAadأَخَاهُمْ(We sent) their brotherهُودًاHudقَالَHe saidيَٰقَوْمِO my peopleٱعْبُدُوا۟WorshipٱللَّهَAllahمَاnotلَكُم(is) for youمِّنْanyإِلَٰهٍgodغَيْرُهُۥٓother than HimإِنْNotأَنتُمْyouإِلَّا(are) butمُفْتَرُونَinventors50
يَٰقَوْمِO my peopleلَآNotأَسْـَٔلُكُمْI ask youعَلَيْهِfor itأَجْرًاany rewardإِنْNotأَجْرِىَ(is) my rewardإِلَّاexceptعَلَىfromٱلَّذِىthe One Whoفَطَرَنِىٓcreated meأَفَلَاThen will notتَعْقِلُونَyou use reason51
وَيَٰقَوْمِAnd O my peopleٱسْتَغْفِرُوا۟Ask forgivenessرَبَّكُمْ(of) your Lordثُمَّthenتُوبُوٓا۟turn in repentanceإِلَيْهِto HimيُرْسِلِHe will sendٱلسَّمَآءَ(from) the sky (rain)عَلَيْكُمupon youمِّدْرَارًا(in) abundanceوَيَزِدْكُمْand increase youقُوَّةً(in) strengthإِلَىٰ(added) toقُوَّتِكُمْyour strengthوَلَاAnd (do) notتَتَوَلَّوْا۟turn awayمُجْرِمِينَ(as) criminals52
قَالُوا۟They saidيَٰهُودُO HudمَاYou have not brought usجِئْتَنَاYou have not brought usبِبَيِّنَةٍclear proofsوَمَاand notنَحْنُweبِتَارِكِىٓ(will) leaveءَالِهَتِنَاour godsعَنonقَوْلِكَyour sayingوَمَاand notنَحْنُwe (are)لَكَin youبِمُؤْمِنِينَbelievers53
إِنNotنَّقُولُwe sayإِلَّاexcept (that)ٱعْتَرَىٰكَhave seized youبَعْضُsomeءَالِهَتِنَا(of) our godsبِسُوٓءٍwith evilقَالَHe saidإِنِّىٓIndeed, Iأُشْهِدُ[I] call Allah to witnessٱللَّهَ[I] call Allah to witnessوَٱشْهَدُوٓا۟and (you) bear witnessأَنِّىthat I amبَرِىٓءٌinnocentمِّمَّاof whatتُشْرِكُونَyou associate54
مِنOther than HimدُونِهِۦOther than HimفَكِيدُونِىSo plot against meجَمِيعًاall togetherثُمَّthenلَا(do) notتُنظِرُونِgive me respite55
إِنِّىIndeed, Iتَوَكَّلْتُ[I] put my trustعَلَىuponٱللَّهِAllahرَبِّىmy Lordوَرَبِّكُمand your Lordمَّا(There is) notمِنof a moving creatureدَآبَّةٍof a moving creatureإِلَّاbutهُوَHeءَاخِذٌۢhas graspبِنَاصِيَتِهَآof its forelockإِنَّIndeedرَبِّىmy Lordعَلَىٰ(is) onصِرَٰطٍa pathمُّسْتَقِيمٍstraight56
فَإِنSo ifتَوَلَّوْا۟you turn awayفَقَدْthen verilyأَبْلَغْتُكُمI have conveyed to youمَّآwhatأُرْسِلْتُI was sentبِهِۦٓwith [it]إِلَيْكُمْto youوَيَسْتَخْلِفُAnd my Lord will give successionرَبِّىAnd my Lord will give successionقَوْمًا(to) a peopleغَيْرَكُمْother than youوَلَاand notتَضُرُّونَهُۥyou will harm Himشَيْـًٔا(in) anythingإِنَّIndeedرَبِّىmy Lordعَلَىٰ(is) onكُلِّallشَىْءٍthingsحَفِيظٌa Guardian57
وَلَمَّاAnd whenجَآءَcameأَمْرُنَاOur commandنَجَّيْنَاWe savedهُودًاHudوَٱلَّذِينَand those whoءَامَنُوا۟believedمَعَهُۥwith himبِرَحْمَةٍby a Mercyمِّنَّاfrom Usوَنَجَّيْنَٰهُمand We saved themمِّنْfromعَذَابٍa punishmentغَلِيظٍsevere58
وَتِلْكَAnd thisعَادٌ(was) Aadجَحَدُوا۟they rejectedبِـَٔايَٰتِ(the) Signsرَبِّهِمْ(of) their Lordوَعَصَوْا۟and disobeyedرُسُلَهُۥHis Messengersوَٱتَّبَعُوٓا۟and followedأَمْرَ(the) commandكُلِّ(of) everyجَبَّارٍtyrantعَنِيدٍobstinate59
وَأُتْبِعُوا۟And they were followedفِىinهَٰذِهِthisٱلدُّنْيَاworldلَعْنَةً(with) a curseوَيَوْمَand (on the) Dayٱلْقِيَٰمَةِ(of) the ResurrectionأَلَآNo doubtإِنَّIndeedعَادًاAadكَفَرُوا۟disbelievedرَبَّهُمْtheir LordأَلَاSoبُعْدًاawayلِّعَادٍwith Aadقَوْمِ(the) peopleهُودٍ(of) Hud60
وَإِلَىٰAnd toثَمُودَThamudأَخَاهُمْ(We sent) their brotherصَٰلِحًاSalihقَالَHe saidيَٰقَوْمِO my peopleٱعْبُدُوا۟WorshipٱللَّهَAllahمَاnotلَكُمyou haveمِّنْanyإِلَٰهٍgodغَيْرُهُۥother than HimهُوَHeأَنشَأَكُمproduced youمِّنَfromٱلْأَرْضِthe earthوَٱسْتَعْمَرَكُمْand settled youفِيهَاin itفَٱسْتَغْفِرُوهُSo ask forgiveness of Himثُمَّthenتُوبُوٓا۟turn in repentanceإِلَيْهِto HimإِنَّIndeedرَبِّىmy Lordقَرِيبٌ(is) nearمُّجِيبٌAll-Responsive61
قَالُوا۟They saidيَٰصَٰلِحُO SalihقَدْVerilyكُنتَyou wereفِينَاamong usمَرْجُوًّاthe one in whom hope was placedقَبْلَbeforeهَٰذَآthisأَتَنْهَىٰنَآDo you forbid usأَنthatنَّعْبُدَwe worshipمَاwhatيَعْبُدُour forefathers worshippedءَابَآؤُنَاour forefathers worshippedوَإِنَّنَاAnd indeed weلَفِىsurely (are) inشَكٍّdoubtمِّمَّاabout whatتَدْعُونَآyou call usإِلَيْهِto itمُرِيبٍsuspicious62
قَالَHe saidيَٰقَوْمِO my peopleأَرَءَيْتُمْDo you seeإِنifكُنتُI amعَلَىٰonبَيِّنَةٍa clear proofمِّنfromرَّبِّىmy Lordوَءَاتَىٰنِىand He has given meمِنْهُfrom Himرَحْمَةًa Mercyفَمَنthen whoيَنصُرُنِى(can) help meمِنَagainstٱللَّهِAllahإِنْifعَصَيْتُهُۥI (were to) disobey HimفَمَاSo notتَزِيدُونَنِىyou would increase meغَيْرَbutتَخْسِيرٍ(in) loss63
وَيَٰقَوْمِAnd O my peopleهَٰذِهِۦThisنَاقَةُshe-camelٱللَّهِ(of) Allahلَكُمْ(is) for youءَايَةًa Signفَذَرُوهَاso leave herتَأْكُلْto eatفِىٓinأَرْضِthe earthٱللَّهِ(of) Allahوَلَاand (do) notتَمَسُّوهَاtouch herبِسُوٓءٍwith harmفَيَأْخُذَكُمْlest will seize youعَذَابٌa punishmentقَرِيبٌimpending64
فَعَقَرُوهَاBut they hamstrung herفَقَالَSo he saidتَمَتَّعُوا۟Enjoy (yourselves)فِىinدَارِكُمْyour home(s)ثَلَٰثَةَ(for) threeأَيَّامٍdaysذَٰلِكَThatوَعْدٌ(is) a promiseغَيْرُnotمَكْذُوبٍ(to) be belied65
فَلَمَّاSo whenجَآءَcameأَمْرُنَاOur commandنَجَّيْنَاWe savedصَٰلِحًاSalihوَٱلَّذِينَand those whoءَامَنُوا۟believedمَعَهُۥwith himبِرَحْمَةٍby a Mercyمِّنَّاfrom Usوَمِنْand fromخِزْىِ(the) disgraceيَوْمِئِذٍ(of) that DayإِنَّIndeedرَبَّكَyour LordهُوَHeٱلْقَوِىُّ(is) All-StrongٱلْعَزِيزُAll-Mighty66
وَأَخَذَAnd seizedٱلَّذِينَthose whoظَلَمُوا۟wrongedٱلصَّيْحَةُthe thunderous blastفَأَصْبَحُوا۟then they becameفِىinدِيَٰرِهِمْtheir homesجَٰثِمِينَfallen prone67
كَأَنAs ifلَّمْnotيَغْنَوْا۟they (had) prosperedفِيهَآthereinأَلَآNo doubtإِنَّindeedثَمُودَا۟Thamudكَفَرُوا۟disbelievedرَبَّهُمْ(in) their Lordأَلَاsoبُعْدًاawayلِّثَمُودَwith Thamud68
وَلَقَدْAnd certainlyجَآءَتْcameرُسُلُنَآOur messengersإِبْرَٰهِيمَ(to) Ibrahimبِٱلْبُشْرَىٰwith glad tidingsقَالُوا۟they saidسَلَٰمًاPeaceقَالَHe saidسَلَٰمٌPeaceفَمَاand not he delayedلَبِثَand not he delayedأَنtoجَآءَbringبِعِجْلٍa calfحَنِيذٍroasted69
فَلَمَّاBut whenرَءَآhe sawأَيْدِيَهُمْtheir handsلَاnotتَصِلُreachingإِلَيْهِto itنَكِرَهُمْhe felt unfamiliar of themوَأَوْجَسَand felt apprehensionمِنْهُمْfrom themخِيفَةً[a fear]قَالُوا۟They saidلَا(Do) notتَخَفْfearإِنَّآIndeed, weأُرْسِلْنَآ[we] have been sentإِلَىٰtoقَوْمِ(the) peopleلُوطٍ(of) Lut70
وَٱمْرَأَتُهُۥAnd his wifeقَآئِمَةٌ(was) standingفَضَحِكَتْand she laughedفَبَشَّرْنَٰهَاThen We gave her glad tidingsبِإِسْحَٰقَof Isaacوَمِنand afterوَرَآءِand afterإِسْحَٰقَIsaacيَعْقُوبَ(of) Yaqub71
قَالَتْShe saidيَٰوَيْلَتَىٰٓWoe to meءَأَلِدُShall I bear a childوَأَنَاwhile I amعَجُوزٌan old womanوَهَٰذَاand thisبَعْلِىmy husbandشَيْخًا(is) an old manإِنَّIndeedهَٰذَاthisلَشَىْءٌ(is) surely a thingعَجِيبٌamazing72
قَالُوٓا۟They saidأَتَعْجَبِينَAre you amazedمِنْatأَمْرِ(the) decree of Allahٱللَّهِ(the) decree of AllahرَحْمَتُThe Mercy of AllahٱللَّهِThe Mercy of Allahوَبَرَكَٰتُهُۥand His blessingsعَلَيْكُمْ(be) upon youأَهْلَpeopleٱلْبَيْتِ(of) the houseإِنَّهُۥIndeed, Heحَمِيدٌ(is) All-PraiseworthyمَّجِيدٌAll-Glorious73
فَلَمَّاAnd whenذَهَبَ(had) gone awayعَنْfromإِبْرَٰهِيمَIbrahimٱلرَّوْعُthe frightوَجَآءَتْهُand had reached himٱلْبُشْرَىٰthe glad tidingsيُجَٰدِلُنَاhe argued with Usفِىconcerningقَوْمِthe peopleلُوطٍof Lut74
إِنَّIndeedإِبْرَٰهِيمَIbrahimلَحَلِيمٌ(was) certainly forbearingأَوَّٰهٌimploringمُّنِيبٌand oft-returning75
يَٰٓإِبْرَٰهِيمُO IbrahimأَعْرِضْTurn awayعَنْfromهَٰذَآthisإِنَّهُۥIndeed, itقَدْcertainlyجَآءَhas comeأَمْرُ(the) Commandرَبِّكَ(of) your Lordوَإِنَّهُمْand indeed, [they]ءَاتِيهِمْ(will) come (for) themعَذَابٌa punishmentغَيْرُ(which) cannotمَرْدُودٍ(be) repelled76
وَلَمَّاAnd whenجَآءَتْcameرُسُلُنَاOur messengersلُوطًا(to) Lutسِىٓءَhe was distressedبِهِمْfor themوَضَاقَand felt straitenedبِهِمْfor themذَرْعًا(and) uneasyوَقَالَand saidهَٰذَاThisيَوْمٌ(is) a dayعَصِيبٌdistressful77
وَجَآءَهُۥAnd came (to) himقَوْمُهُۥhis peopleيُهْرَعُونَrushingإِلَيْهِto himوَمِنand beforeقَبْلُand beforeكَانُوا۟they (had) beenيَعْمَلُونَdoingٱلسَّيِّـَٔاتِthe evil deedsقَالَHe saidيَٰقَوْمِO my peopleهَٰٓؤُلَآءِTheseبَنَاتِى(are) my daughtersهُنَّtheyأَطْهَرُ(are) purerلَكُمْfor youفَٱتَّقُوا۟So fearٱللَّهَAllahوَلَاand (do) notتُخْزُونِdisgrace meفِىconcerningضَيْفِىٓmy guestsأَلَيْسَIs (there) notمِنكُمْamong youرَجُلٌa manرَّشِيدٌright-minded78
قَالُوا۟They saidلَقَدْVerilyعَلِمْتَyou knowمَا(that) notلَنَاwe haveفِىconcerningبَنَاتِكَyour daughtersمِنْanyحَقٍّrightوَإِنَّكَAnd indeed, youلَتَعْلَمُsurely knowمَاwhatنُرِيدُwe want79
قَالَHe saidلَوْIfأَنَّthatلِىI hadبِكُمْover youقُوَّةًpowerأَوْorءَاوِىٓI could take refugeإِلَىٰinرُكْنٍa supportشَدِيدٍstrong80
قَالُوا۟They saidيَٰلُوطُO LutإِنَّاIndeed, weرُسُلُ(are) messengersرَبِّكَ(of) your Lordلَنneverيَصِلُوٓا۟they will reachإِلَيْكَyouفَأَسْرِSo travelبِأَهْلِكَwith your familyبِقِطْعٍin a partمِّنَofٱلَّيْلِthe nightوَلَاand (let) notيَلْتَفِتْlook backمِنكُمْanyone of youأَحَدٌanyone of youإِلَّاexceptٱمْرَأَتَكَyour wifeإِنَّهُۥIndeed, itمُصِيبُهَاwill strike herمَآwhatأَصَابَهُمْwill strike themإِنَّIndeedمَوْعِدَهُمُtheir appointed timeٱلصُّبْحُ(is) morningأَلَيْسَIs notٱلصُّبْحُthe morningبِقَرِيبٍnear81
فَلَمَّاSo whenجَآءَcameأَمْرُنَاOur CommandجَعَلْنَاWe madeعَٰلِيَهَاits upsideسَافِلَهَاits downsideوَأَمْطَرْنَاand We rainedعَلَيْهَاupon themحِجَارَةًstonesمِّنofسِجِّيلٍbaked clayمَّنضُودٍ(in) layers82
مُّسَوَّمَةًMarkedعِندَfromرَبِّكَyour LordوَمَاAnd notهِىَitمِنَ(is) fromٱلظَّٰلِمِينَthe wrongdoersبِبَعِيدٍfar83
وَإِلَىٰAnd toمَدْيَنَMadyanأَخَاهُمْtheir brotherشُعَيْبًاShuaibقَالَHe saidيَٰقَوْمِO my peopleٱعْبُدُوا۟WorshipٱللَّهَAllahمَاnotلَكُم(is) for youمِّنْanyإِلَٰهٍgodغَيْرُهُۥother than HimوَلَاAnd (do) notتَنقُصُوا۟decreaseٱلْمِكْيَالَ(from) the measureوَٱلْمِيزَانَand the scaleإِنِّىٓIndeed, Iأَرَىٰكُمsee youبِخَيْرٍin prosperityوَإِنِّىٓbut indeed, Iأَخَافُfearعَلَيْكُمْfor youعَذَابَpunishmentيَوْمٍ(of) a Dayمُّحِيطٍall-encompassing84
وَيَٰقَوْمِAnd O my peopleأَوْفُوا۟Give fullٱلْمِكْيَالَmeasureوَٱلْمِيزَانَand weightبِٱلْقِسْطِin justiceوَلَاand (do) notتَبْخَسُوا۟depriveٱلنَّاسَthe peopleأَشْيَآءَهُمْ(of) their thingsوَلَاand (do) notتَعْثَوْا۟act wickedlyفِىinٱلْأَرْضِthe earthمُفْسِدِينَspreading corruption85
بَقِيَّتُ(What) remainsٱللَّهِ(from) Allahخَيْرٌ(is) bestلَّكُمْfor youإِنifكُنتُمyou areمُّؤْمِنِينَbelieversوَمَآAnd notأَنَاI amعَلَيْكُمover youبِحَفِيظٍa guardian86
قَالُوا۟They saidيَٰشُعَيْبُO ShuaibأَصَلَوٰتُكَDoes your prayerتَأْمُرُكَcommand youأَنthatنَّتْرُكَwe leaveمَاwhatيَعْبُدُworshipءَابَآؤُنَآour forefathersأَوْorأَنthatنَّفْعَلَwe doفِىٓconcerningأَمْوَٰلِنَاour wealthمَاwhatنَشَٰٓؤُا۟we willإِنَّكَIndeed youلَأَنتَsurely youٱلْحَلِيمُ(are) the forbearingٱلرَّشِيدُthe right-minded87
قَالَHe saidيَٰقَوْمِO my peopleأَرَءَيْتُمْDo you seeإِنifكُنتُI amعَلَىٰonبَيِّنَةٍa clear evidenceمِّنfromرَّبِّىmy Lordوَرَزَقَنِىand He has provided meمِنْهُfrom Himselfرِزْقًاa good provisionحَسَنًاa good provisionوَمَآAnd notأُرِيدُI intendأَنْthatأُخَالِفَكُمْI differ from youإِلَىٰinمَآwhatأَنْهَىٰكُمْI forbid youعَنْهُfrom itإِنْNotأُرِيدُI intendإِلَّاexceptٱلْإِصْلَٰحَthe reformمَاas much as I am ableٱسْتَطَعْتُas much as I am ableوَمَاAnd notتَوْفِيقِىٓ(is) my successإِلَّاexceptبِٱللَّهِwith AllahعَلَيْهِUpon HimتَوَكَّلْتُI trustوَإِلَيْهِand to HimأُنِيبُI turn88
وَيَٰقَوْمِAnd O my peopleلَا(Let) not cause you to sinيَجْرِمَنَّكُمْ(Let) not cause you to sinشِقَاقِىٓmy dissensionأَنlestيُصِيبَكُمbefalls youمِّثْلُsimilarمَآ(to) whatأَصَابَbefellقَوْمَ(the) people of Nuhنُوحٍ(the) people of Nuhأَوْorقَوْمَ(the) people of Hudهُودٍ(the) people of Hudأَوْorقَوْمَpeople of Salihصَٰلِحٍpeople of SalihوَمَاAnd notقَوْمُ(are the) people of Lutلُوطٍ(are the) people of Lutمِّنكُمfrom youبِبَعِيدٍfar off89
وَٱسْتَغْفِرُوا۟And ask forgivenessرَبَّكُمْ(of) your Lordثُمَّthenتُوبُوٓا۟turn in repentanceإِلَيْهِto HimإِنَّIndeedرَبِّىmy Lordرَحِيمٌ(is) Most MercifulوَدُودٌMost Loving90
قَالُوا۟They saidيَٰشُعَيْبُO ShuaibمَاNotنَفْقَهُwe understandكَثِيرًاmuchمِّمَّاof whatتَقُولُyou sayوَإِنَّاand indeed, weلَنَرَىٰكَsurely [we] see youفِينَاamong usضَعِيفًاweakوَلَوْلَاAnd if notرَهْطُكَfor your familyلَرَجَمْنَٰكَsurely we would have stoned youوَمَآand you are notأَنتَand you are notعَلَيْنَاagainst usبِعَزِيزٍmighty91
قَالَHe saidيَٰقَوْمِO my peopleأَرَهْطِىٓIs my familyأَعَزُّmightierعَلَيْكُمon youمِّنَthanٱللَّهِAllahوَٱتَّخَذْتُمُوهُAnd you have taken Himوَرَآءَكُمْbehind yourظِهْرِيًّاbacksإِنَّIndeedرَبِّىmy Lordبِمَاof whatتَعْمَلُونَyou doمُحِيطٌ(is) All-Encompassing92
وَيَٰقَوْمِAnd O my peopleٱعْمَلُوا۟Workعَلَىٰ(according) toمَكَانَتِكُمْyour positionإِنِّىindeed, I amعَٰمِلٌworkingسَوْفَSoonتَعْلَمُونَyou will knowمَن(on) whomيَأْتِيهِwill comeعَذَابٌa punishmentيُخْزِيهِ(that will) disgrace himوَمَنْand whoهُوَ[he]كَٰذِبٌ(is) a liarوَٱرْتَقِبُوٓا۟And watchإِنِّىindeed, I amمَعَكُمْwith youرَقِيبٌa watcher93
وَلَمَّاAnd whenجَآءَcameأَمْرُنَاOur CommandنَجَّيْنَاWe savedشُعَيْبًاShuaibوَٱلَّذِينَand those whoءَامَنُوا۟believedمَعَهُۥwith himبِرَحْمَةٍby a Mercyمِّنَّاfrom UsوَأَخَذَتِAnd seizedٱلَّذِينَthose whoظَلَمُوا۟wrongedٱلصَّيْحَةُthe thunderous blastفَأَصْبَحُوا۟then they becameفِىinدِيَٰرِهِمْtheir homesجَٰثِمِينَfallen prone94
كَأَنAs ifلَّمْnotيَغْنَوْا۟they (had) prosperedفِيهَآthereinأَلَاSoبُعْدًاawayلِّمَدْيَنَwith Madyanكَمَاasبَعِدَتْwas taken awayثَمُودُthe Thamud95
وَلَقَدْAnd certainlyأَرْسَلْنَاWe sentمُوسَىٰMusaبِـَٔايَٰتِنَاwith Our Signsوَسُلْطَٰنٍand an authorityمُّبِينٍclear96
إِلَىٰToفِرْعَوْنَFiraunوَمَلَإِي۟هِۦand his chiefsفَٱتَّبَعُوٓا۟but they followedأَمْرَ(the) command of Firaunفِرْعَوْنَ(the) command of Firaunوَمَآand notأَمْرُ(the) command of Firaunفِرْعَوْنَ(the) command of Firaunبِرَشِيدٍwas right97
يَقْدُمُHe will precedeقَوْمَهُۥhis peopleيَوْمَ(on the) Dayٱلْقِيَٰمَةِ(of) the Resurrectionفَأَوْرَدَهُمُand lead themٱلنَّارَ(into) the FireوَبِئْسَAnd wretchedٱلْوِرْدُ(is) the placeٱلْمَوْرُودُto which (they are) led98
وَأُتْبِعُوا۟And they were followedفِىinهَٰذِهِۦthisلَعْنَةً(by) a curseوَيَوْمَand (on the) Dayٱلْقِيَٰمَةِ(of) the ResurrectionبِئْسَWretchedٱلرِّفْدُ(is) the giftٱلْمَرْفُودُwhich (will) be given99
ذَٰلِكَThatمِنْ(is) fromأَنۢبَآءِ(the) newsٱلْقُرَىٰ(of) the citiesنَقُصُّهُۥ(which) We relateعَلَيْكَto youمِنْهَاof themقَآئِمٌsome are standingوَحَصِيدٌand (some) mown100
وَمَاAnd notظَلَمْنَٰهُمْWe wronged themوَلَٰكِنbutظَلَمُوٓا۟they wrongedأَنفُسَهُمْthemselvesفَمَآSo notأَغْنَتْavailedعَنْهُمْthemءَالِهَتُهُمُtheir godsٱلَّتِىwhichيَدْعُونَthey invokedمِنother than Allahدُونِother than Allahٱللَّهِother than Allahمِنanyشَىْءٍthingلَّمَّاwhenجَآءَcameأَمْرُ(the) command (of) your Lordرَبِّكَ(the) command (of) your LordوَمَاAnd notزَادُوهُمْthey increased themغَيْرَother thanتَتْبِيبٍruin101
وَكَذَٰلِكَAnd thusأَخْذُ(is) the seizure (of) your Lordرَبِّكَ(is) the seizure (of) your LordإِذَآwhenأَخَذَHe seizesٱلْقُرَىٰthe citiesوَهِىَwhile theyظَٰلِمَةٌ(are) doing wrongإِنَّIndeedأَخْذَهُۥٓHis seizureأَلِيمٌ(is) painfulشَدِيدٌ(and) severe102
إِنَّIndeedفِىinذَٰلِكَthatلَءَايَةً(is) surely a Signلِّمَنْfor (those) whoخَافَfearعَذَابَ(the) punishmentٱلْءَاخِرَةِ(of) the HereafterذَٰلِكَThatيَوْمٌ(is) a Dayمَّجْمُوعٌ(will) be gatheredلَّهُon itٱلنَّاسُthe mankindوَذَٰلِكَand thatيَوْمٌ(is) a Dayمَّشْهُودٌwitnessed103
يَوْمَ(The) Dayيَأْتِ(it) comesلَاnotتَكَلَّمُwill speakنَفْسٌa soulإِلَّاexceptبِإِذْنِهِۦby His leaveفَمِنْهُمْThen among themشَقِىٌّ(will be the) wretchedوَسَعِيدٌand (the) glad105
فَأَمَّاAs forٱلَّذِينَthose whoشَقُوا۟were wretchedفَفِىthen (they will be) inٱلنَّارِthe FireلَهُمْFor themفِيهَاthereinزَفِيرٌ(is) sighingوَشَهِيقٌand wailing106
خَٰلِدِينَ(Will be) abidingفِيهَاthereinمَاas long as remainدَامَتِas long as remainٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتُthe heavensوَٱلْأَرْضُand the earthإِلَّاexceptمَاwhat your Lord willsشَآءَwhat your Lord willsرَبُّكَwhat your Lord willsإِنَّIndeedرَبَّكَyour Lordفَعَّالٌ(is) All-Accomplisherلِّمَاof whatيُرِيدُHe intends107
وَأَمَّاAnd as forٱلَّذِينَthose whoسُعِدُوا۟were gladفَفِىthen (they will be) inٱلْجَنَّةِParadiseخَٰلِدِينَ(will be) abidingفِيهَاthereinمَاas long as remainsدَامَتِas long as remainsٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتُthe heavensوَٱلْأَرْضُand the earthإِلَّاexceptمَاwhat your Lord wills شَآءَwhat your Lord wills رَبُّكَwhat your Lord wills عَطَآءًa bestowalغَيْرَnotمَجْذُوذٍinterrupted108
فَلَاSo (do) notتَكُbeفِىinمِرْيَةٍdoubtمِّمَّاas to whatيَعْبُدُworshipهَٰٓؤُلَآءِthese (polytheists)مَاNotيَعْبُدُونَthey worshipإِلَّاexceptكَمَاas whatيَعْبُدُworshippedءَابَآؤُهُمtheir forefathersمِّنbeforeقَبْلُbeforeوَإِنَّاAnd indeed, Weلَمُوَفُّوهُمْwill surely pay them in fullنَصِيبَهُمْtheir shareغَيْرَwithoutمَنقُوصٍbeing diminished109
وَلَقَدْAnd verilyءَاتَيْنَاWe gaveمُوسَىMusaٱلْكِتَٰبَthe Bookفَٱخْتُلِفَbut differences aroseفِيهِthereinوَلَوْلَاAnd if notكَلِمَةٌ(for) a Wordسَبَقَتْ(that) precededمِنfromرَّبِّكَyour Lordلَقُضِىَsurely would have been judgedبَيْنَهُمْbetween themوَإِنَّهُمْAnd indeed, theyلَفِىsurely (are) inشَكٍّdoubtمِّنْهُconcerning itمُرِيبٍsuspicious110
وَإِنَّAnd indeedكُلًّاto each [when]لَّمَّاto each [when]لَيُوَفِّيَنَّهُمْsurely will pay them in fullرَبُّكَyour Lordأَعْمَٰلَهُمْtheir deedsإِنَّهُۥIndeed, Heبِمَاof whatيَعْمَلُونَthey doخَبِيرٌ(is) All-Aware111
فَٱسْتَقِمْSo stand firmكَمَآasأُمِرْتَyou are commandedوَمَنand (those) whoتَابَturn (in repentance)مَعَكَwith youوَلَاand (do) notتَطْغَوْا۟transgressإِنَّهُۥIndeed, Heبِمَاof whatتَعْمَلُونَyou doبَصِيرٌ(is) All-Seer112
وَلَاAnd (do) notتَرْكَنُوٓا۟inclineإِلَىtoٱلَّذِينَthose whoظَلَمُوا۟do wrongفَتَمَسَّكُمُlest touches youٱلنَّارُthe Fireوَمَاand notلَكُم(is) for youمِّنbesides Allahدُونِbesides Allahٱللَّهِbesides Allahمِنْanyأَوْلِيَآءَprotectorsثُمَّthenلَاnotتُنصَرُونَyou will be helped113
وَأَقِمِAnd establishٱلصَّلَوٰةَthe prayerطَرَفَىِ(at the) two endsٱلنَّهَارِ(of) the dayوَزُلَفًاand (at) the approachمِّنَofٱلَّيْلِthe nightإِنَّIndeedٱلْحَسَنَٰتِthe good deedsيُذْهِبْنَremoveٱلسَّيِّـَٔاتِthe evil deedsذَٰلِكَThatذِكْرَىٰ(is) a reminderلِلذَّٰكِرِينَfor those who remember114
وَٱصْبِرْAnd be patientفَإِنَّfor indeedٱللَّهَAllahلَا(does) notيُضِيعُlet go wasteأَجْرَ(the) rewardٱلْمُحْسِنِينَ(of) the good-doers115
فَلَوْلَاSo why notكَانَhad beenمِنَofٱلْقُرُونِthe generationsمِنbefore youقَبْلِكُمْbefore youأُو۟لُوا۟those possessing a remnantبَقِيَّةٍthose possessing a remnantيَنْهَوْنَforbiddingعَنِfromٱلْفَسَادِthe corruptionفِىinٱلْأَرْضِthe earthإِلَّاexceptقَلِيلًاa fewمِّمَّنْof thoseأَنجَيْنَاWe savedمِنْهُمْamong themوَٱتَّبَعَBut followedٱلَّذِينَthose whoظَلَمُوا۟did wrongمَآwhatأُتْرِفُوا۟luxury they were givenفِيهِthereinوَكَانُوا۟and they wereمُجْرِمِينَcriminals116
وَمَاAnd notكَانَwouldرَبُّكَyour Lordلِيُهْلِكَdestroyٱلْقُرَىٰthe citiesبِظُلْمٍunjustlyوَأَهْلُهَاwhile its peopleمُصْلِحُونَ(were) reformers117
وَلَوْAnd ifشَآءَyour Lord (had) willedرَبُّكَyour Lord (had) willedلَجَعَلَsurely He (could) have madeٱلنَّاسَthe mankindأُمَّةًone communityوَٰحِدَةًone communityوَلَاbut notيَزَالُونَthey will ceaseمُخْتَلِفِينَto differ118
إِلَّاExceptمَن(on) whomرَّحِمَyour Lord has bestowed Mercyرَبُّكَyour Lord has bestowed Mercyوَلِذَٰلِكَand for thatخَلَقَهُمْHe created themوَتَمَّتْAnd will be fulfilledكَلِمَةُ(the) Word of your Lordرَبِّكَ(the) Word of your LordلَأَمْلَأَنَّSurely I will fillجَهَنَّمَHellمِنَwithٱلْجِنَّةِthe Jinnوَٱلنَّاسِand the menأَجْمَعِينَall together119
وَكُلًّاAnd eachنَّقُصُّWe relateعَلَيْكَto youمِنْofأَنۢبَآءِ(the) newsٱلرُّسُلِ(of) the Messengersمَا(for) thatنُثَبِّتُWe may make firmبِهِۦwith itفُؤَادَكَyour heartوَجَآءَكَAnd has come to youفِىinهَٰذِهِthisٱلْحَقُّthe truthوَمَوْعِظَةٌand an admonitionوَذِكْرَىٰand a reminderلِلْمُؤْمِنِينَfor the believers120
وَقُلAnd sayلِّلَّذِينَto those whoلَا(do) notيُؤْمِنُونَbelieveٱعْمَلُوا۟Workعَلَىٰ(according) toمَكَانَتِكُمْyour positionإِنَّاindeed, weعَٰمِلُونَ(are also) working121
وَلِلَّهِAnd for Allahغَيْبُ(is the) unseenٱلسَّمَٰوَٰتِ(of) the heavensوَٱلْأَرْضِand the earthوَإِلَيْهِand to Himيُرْجَعُwill be returnedٱلْأَمْرُthe matterكُلُّهُۥall (of) itفَٱعْبُدْهُso worship Himوَتَوَكَّلْand put your trustعَلَيْهِupon HimوَمَاAnd your Lord is notرَبُّكَAnd your Lord is notبِغَٰفِلٍunawareعَمَّاof whatتَعْمَلُونَyou do123

إِذْWhenقَالَsaidيُوسُفُYusufلِأَبِيهِto his fatherيَٰٓأَبَتِO my fatherإِنِّىIndeed, IرَأَيْتُI sawأَحَدَelevenعَشَرَelevenكَوْكَبًاstarsوَٱلشَّمْسَand the sunوَٱلْقَمَرَand the moonرَأَيْتُهُمْI saw themلِىto meسَٰجِدِينَprostrating4
قَالَHe saidيَٰبُنَىَّO my sonلَا(Do) notتَقْصُصْrelateرُءْيَاكَyour visionعَلَىٰٓtoإِخْوَتِكَyour brothersفَيَكِيدُوا۟lest they planلَكَagainst youكَيْدًاa plotإِنَّIndeedٱلشَّيْطَٰنَthe Shaitaanلِلْإِنسَٰنِ(is) to manعَدُوٌّan enemyمُّبِينٌopen5
وَكَذَٰلِكَAnd thusيَجْتَبِيكَwill choose youرَبُّكَyour Lordوَيُعَلِّمُكَand will teach youمِنofتَأْوِيلِ(the) interpretationٱلْأَحَادِيثِ(of) the narrativesوَيُتِمُّand completeنِعْمَتَهُۥHis Favorعَلَيْكَon youوَعَلَىٰٓand onءَالِ(the) familyيَعْقُوبَ(of) YaqubكَمَآasأَتَمَّهَاHe completed itعَلَىٰٓonأَبَوَيْكَyour two forefathersمِنbefore قَبْلُbefore إِبْرَٰهِيمَIbrahimوَإِسْحَٰقَand IsaacإِنَّIndeedرَبَّكَyour Lordعَلِيمٌ(is) All-KnowerحَكِيمٌAll-Wise6
لَّقَدْCertainlyكَانَwereفِىinيُوسُفَYusufوَإِخْوَتِهِۦٓand his brothersءَايَٰتٌsignsلِّلسَّآئِلِينَfor those who ask7
إِذْWhenقَالُوا۟they saidلَيُوسُفُSurely Yusufوَأَخُوهُand his brotherأَحَبُّ(are) more belovedإِلَىٰٓtoأَبِينَاour fatherمِنَّاthan weوَنَحْنُwhile weعُصْبَةٌ(are) a groupإِنَّIndeedأَبَانَاour fatherلَفِى(is) surely inضَلَٰلٍan errorمُّبِينٍclear8
ٱقْتُلُوا۟KillيُوسُفَYusufأَوِorٱطْرَحُوهُcast himأَرْضًا(to) a landيَخْلُso will be freeلَكُمْfor youوَجْهُ(the) faceأَبِيكُمْ(of) your fatherوَتَكُونُوا۟and you will beمِنۢafter thatبَعْدِهِۦafter thatقَوْمًاa peopleصَٰلِحِينَrighteous9
قَالَSaidقَآئِلٌa speakerمِّنْهُمْamong themلَا(Do) notتَقْتُلُوا۟killيُوسُفَYusufوَأَلْقُوهُbut throw himفِىinغَيَٰبَتِthe bottomٱلْجُبِّ(of) the wellيَلْتَقِطْهُwill pick himبَعْضُsomeٱلسَّيَّارَةِ[the] caravanإِنifكُنتُمْyou areفَٰعِلِينَdoing10
قَالُوا۟They saidيَٰٓأَبَانَاO our fatherمَاWhyلَكَ(do) youلَاnotتَأْمَنَّاtrust usعَلَىٰwithيُوسُفَYusufوَإِنَّاwhile indeed, weلَهُۥ(are) for himلَنَٰصِحُونَsurely well-wishers11
أَرْسِلْهُSend himمَعَنَاwith usغَدًاtomorrowيَرْتَعْ(to) enjoyوَيَلْعَبْand playوَإِنَّاAnd indeed, weلَهُۥfor himلَحَٰفِظُونَ(will) surely (be) guardians12
قَالَHe saidإِنِّىIndeed, [I]لَيَحْزُنُنِىٓit surely saddens meأَنthatتَذْهَبُوا۟you should take himبِهِۦyou should take himوَأَخَافُand I fearأَنthatيَأْكُلَهُwould eat himٱلذِّئْبُa wolfوَأَنتُمْwhile youعَنْهُof himغَٰفِلُونَ(are) unaware13
قَالُوا۟They saidلَئِنْIfأَكَلَهُeats himٱلذِّئْبُthe wolfوَنَحْنُwhile weعُصْبَةٌ(are) a groupإِنَّآindeed, weإِذًاthenلَّخَٰسِرُونَsurely (would be) losers14
فَلَمَّاSo whenذَهَبُوا۟they took himبِهِۦthey took himوَأَجْمَعُوٓا۟and agreedأَنthatيَجْعَلُوهُthey put himفِىinغَيَٰبَتِ(the) bottomٱلْجُبِّ(of) the wellوَأَوْحَيْنَآBut We inspiredإِلَيْهِto himلَتُنَبِّئَنَّهُمSurely, you will inform themبِأَمْرِهِمْabout this affairهَٰذَاabout this affairوَهُمْwhile theyلَا(do) notيَشْعُرُونَperceive15
قَالُوا۟They saidيَٰٓأَبَانَآO our fatherإِنَّاIndeed, weذَهَبْنَا[we] wentنَسْتَبِقُracing each otherوَتَرَكْنَاand we leftيُوسُفَYusufعِندَwithمَتَٰعِنَاour possessionsفَأَكَلَهُand ate himٱلذِّئْبُthe wolfوَمَآBut notأَنتَyouبِمُؤْمِنٍ(will) believeلَّنَاusوَلَوْeven ifكُنَّاwe areصَٰدِقِينَtruthful17
وَجَآءُوAnd they broughtعَلَىٰuponقَمِيصِهِۦhis shirtبِدَمٍwith false bloodكَذِبٍwith false bloodقَالَHe saidبَلْNayسَوَّلَتْhas enticed youلَكُمْhas enticed youأَنفُسُكُمْyour soulsأَمْرًا(to) a matterفَصَبْرٌso patienceجَمِيلٌ(is) beautifulوَٱللَّهُAnd Allahٱلْمُسْتَعَانُ(is) the One sought for helpعَلَىٰagainstمَاwhatتَصِفُونَyou describe18
وَجَآءَتْAnd there cameسَيَّارَةٌa caravanفَأَرْسَلُوا۟and they sentوَارِدَهُمْtheir water drawerفَأَدْلَىٰthen he let downدَلْوَهُۥhis bucketقَالَHe saidيَٰبُشْرَىٰO good newsهَٰذَاThisغُلَٰمٌ(is) a boyوَأَسَرُّوهُAnd they hid himبِضَٰعَةً(as) a merchandiseوَٱللَّهُAnd Allahعَلِيمٌۢ(is) All-Knowerبِمَاof whatيَعْمَلُونَthey do19
وَشَرَوْهُAnd they sold himبِثَمَنٍۢfor a priceبَخْسٍvery lowدَرَٰهِمَdirhamsمَعْدُودَةٍfewوَكَانُوا۟and they wereفِيهِabout himمِنَofٱلزَّٰهِدِينَthose keen to give up20
وَقَالَAnd saidٱلَّذِىthe one whoٱشْتَرَىٰهُbought himمِنofمِّصْرَEgyptلِٱمْرَأَتِهِۦٓto his wifeأَكْرِمِىMake comfortableمَثْوَىٰهُhis stayعَسَىٰٓPerhapsأَنthatيَنفَعَنَآ(he) will benefit usأَوْorنَتَّخِذَهُۥwe will take himوَلَدًا(as) a sonوَكَذَٰلِكَAnd thusمَكَّنَّاWe establishedلِيُوسُفَYusufفِىinٱلْأَرْضِthe landوَلِنُعَلِّمَهُۥthat We might teach himمِن(the) interpretation ofتَأْوِيلِ(the) interpretation ofٱلْأَحَادِيثِthe eventsوَٱللَّهُAnd Allahغَالِبٌ(is) PredominantعَلَىٰٓoverأَمْرِهِۦHis affairsوَلَٰكِنَّbutأَكْثَرَmostٱلنَّاسِ(of) the peopleلَا(do) notيَعْلَمُونَknow21
وَلَمَّاAnd whenبَلَغَhe reachedأَشُدَّهُۥٓhis maturityءَاتَيْنَٰهُWe gave himحُكْمًاwisdomوَعِلْمًاand knowledgeوَكَذَٰلِكَAnd thusنَجْزِىWe rewardٱلْمُحْسِنِينَthe good-doers22
وَرَٰوَدَتْهُAnd sought to seduce himٱلَّتِىshe whoهُوَhe (was)فِىinبَيْتِهَاher houseعَنfromنَّفْسِهِۦhis selfوَغَلَّقَتِAnd she closedٱلْأَبْوَٰبَthe doorsوَقَالَتْand she saidهَيْتَCome onلَكَyouقَالَHe saidمَعَاذَI seek refuge in AllahٱللَّهِI seek refuge in AllahإِنَّهُۥIndeed, heرَبِّىٓ(is) my lordأَحْسَنَ(who has) made goodمَثْوَاىَmy stayإِنَّهُۥIndeedلَاnotيُفْلِحُwill succeedٱلظَّٰلِمُونَthe wrongdoers23
وَلَقَدْAnd certainlyهَمَّتْshe did desireبِهِۦhimوَهَمَّand he would have desiredبِهَاherلَوْلَآif notأَنthatرَّءَاhe sawبُرْهَٰنَthe proofرَبِّهِۦ(of) his LordكَذَٰلِكَThusلِنَصْرِفَthat We might avertعَنْهُfrom himٱلسُّوٓءَthe evilوَٱلْفَحْشَآءَand the immoralityإِنَّهُۥIndeed, heمِنْ(was) ofعِبَادِنَاOur slavesٱلْمُخْلَصِينَthe sincere24
وَٱسْتَبَقَاAnd they both racedٱلْبَابَ(to) the doorوَقَدَّتْand she toreقَمِيصَهُۥhis shirtمِنfromدُبُرٍthe backوَأَلْفَيَاand they both foundسَيِّدَهَاher husbandلَدَاatٱلْبَابِthe doorقَالَتْShe saidمَاWhatجَزَآءُ(is) the recompenseمَنْ(of one) whoأَرَادَintendedبِأَهْلِكَfor your wifeسُوٓءًاevilإِلَّآexceptأَنthatيُسْجَنَhe be imprisonedأَوْorعَذَابٌa punishmentأَلِيمٌpainful25
قَالَHe saidهِىَSheرَٰوَدَتْنِىsought to seduce meعَنaboutنَّفْسِىmyselfوَشَهِدَAnd testifiedشَاهِدٌa witnessمِّنْofأَهْلِهَآher familyإِنIfكَانَ[is]قَمِيصُهُۥhis shirtقُدَّ(is) tornمِنfromقُبُلٍthe frontفَصَدَقَتْthen she has spoken the truthوَهُوَand heمِنَ(is) ofٱلْكَٰذِبِينَthe liars26
وَإِنBut ifكَانَ[is]قَمِيصُهُۥhis shirtقُدَّ(is) tornمِنfromدُبُرٍ(the) backفَكَذَبَتْthen she has liedوَهُوَand heمِنَ(is) ofٱلصَّٰدِقِينَthe truthful27
فَلَمَّاSo whenرَءَاhe sawقَمِيصَهُۥhis shirtقُدَّtornمِنfromدُبُرٍ(the) backقَالَhe saidإِنَّهُۥIndeed, itمِن(is) ofكَيْدِكُنَّyour plotإِنَّIndeedكَيْدَكُنَّyour plotعَظِيمٌ(is) great28
يُوسُفُYusufأَعْرِضْturn awayعَنْfromهَٰذَاthisوَٱسْتَغْفِرِىAnd ask forgivenessلِذَنۢبِكِfor your sinإِنَّكِIndeed, youكُنتِareمِنَofٱلْخَاطِـِٔينَthe sinful29
وَقَالَAnd saidنِسْوَةٌwomenفِىinٱلْمَدِينَةِthe cityٱمْرَأَتُThe wife ofٱلْعَزِيزِAzizتُرَٰوِدُ(is) seeking to seduceفَتَىٰهَاher slave boyعَنaboutنَّفْسِهِۦhimselfقَدْindeedشَغَفَهَاhe has impassioned herحُبًّا(with) loveإِنَّاIndeed, weلَنَرَىٰهَا[we] surely see herفِىinضَلَٰلٍan errorمُّبِينٍclear30
فَلَمَّاSo whenسَمِعَتْshe heardبِمَكْرِهِنَّof their schemingأَرْسَلَتْshe sentإِلَيْهِنَّfor themوَأَعْتَدَتْand she preparedلَهُنَّfor themمُتَّكَـًٔاa banquetوَءَاتَتْand she gaveكُلَّeachوَٰحِدَةٍoneمِّنْهُنَّof themسِكِّينًاa knifeوَقَالَتِand she saidٱخْرُجْCome outعَلَيْهِنَّbefore themفَلَمَّاThen whenرَأَيْنَهُۥٓthey saw himأَكْبَرْنَهُۥthey greatly admired himوَقَطَّعْنَand cutأَيْدِيَهُنَّtheir handsوَقُلْنَthey saidحَٰشَForbidلِلَّهِAllahمَاnotهَٰذَا(is) thisبَشَرًاa manإِنْnotهَٰذَآ(is) thisإِلَّاbutمَلَكٌan angelكَرِيمٌnoble31
قَالَتْShe saidفَذَٰلِكُنَّThatٱلَّذِى(is) the oneلُمْتُنَّنِىyou blamed meفِيهِabout himوَلَقَدْAnd certainlyرَٰوَدتُّهُۥI sought to seduce himعَن[from]نَّفْسِهِۦ[himself]فَٱسْتَعْصَمَbut he saved himselfوَلَئِنand ifلَّمْnotيَفْعَلْhe doesمَآwhatءَامُرُهُۥI order himلَيُسْجَنَنَّsurely, he will be imprisonedوَلَيَكُونًاand certainly will beمِّنَofٱلصَّٰغِرِينَthose who are disgraced32
قَالَHe saidرَبِّMy Lordٱلسِّجْنُthe prisonأَحَبُّ(is) dearerإِلَىَّto meمِمَّاthan whatيَدْعُونَنِىٓthey invite meإِلَيْهِto itوَإِلَّاAnd unlessتَصْرِفْYou turn awayعَنِّىfrom meكَيْدَهُنَّtheir plotأَصْبُI might inclineإِلَيْهِنَّtowards themوَأَكُنand [I] beمِّنَofٱلْجَٰهِلِينَthe ignorant33
فَٱسْتَجَابَSo respondedلَهُۥto himرَبُّهُۥhis Lordفَصَرَفَand turned awayعَنْهُfrom himكَيْدَهُنَّtheir plotإِنَّهُۥIndeed, [He]هُوَHeٱلسَّمِيعُ(is) All-HearerٱلْعَلِيمُAll-Knower34
ثُمَّThenبَدَا(it) appearedلَهُمto themمِّنۢafterبَعْدِafterمَا[what]رَأَوُا۟they had seenٱلْءَايَٰتِthe signsلَيَسْجُنُنَّهُۥsurely they should imprison himحَتَّىٰuntilحِينٍa time35
وَدَخَلَAnd enteredمَعَهُwith himٱلسِّجْنَ(in) the prisonفَتَيَانِtwo young menقَالَSaidأَحَدُهُمَآone of themإِنِّىٓIndeed, Iأَرَىٰنِىٓ[I] see myselfأَعْصِرُpressingخَمْرًاwineوَقَالَAnd saidٱلْءَاخَرُthe otherإِنِّىٓIndeed, Iأَرَىٰنِىٓ[I] see myselfأَحْمِلُ[I am] carryingفَوْقَoverرَأْسِىmy headخُبْزًاbreadتَأْكُلُ(were) eatingٱلطَّيْرُthe birdsمِنْهُfrom itنَبِّئْنَاInform usبِتَأْوِيلِهِۦٓof its interpretationإِنَّاindeed, weنَرَىٰكَ[we] see youمِنَofٱلْمُحْسِنِينَthe good-doers36
قَالَHe saidلَاNotيَأْتِيكُمَا(will) come to both of youطَعَامٌfoodتُرْزَقَانِهِۦٓyou are provided withإِلَّاbutنَبَّأْتُكُمَاI will inform both of youبِتَأْوِيلِهِۦof its interpretationقَبْلَbeforeأَن[that]يَأْتِيَكُمَا[it] comes to both of youذَٰلِكُمَاThatمِمَّا(is) of whatعَلَّمَنِىhas taught meرَبِّىٓmy LordإِنِّىIndeed, Iتَرَكْتُ[I] abandonمِلَّةَ(the) religionقَوْمٍ(of) a peopleلَّاnotيُؤْمِنُونَthey believeبِٱللَّهِin Allahوَهُمand theyبِٱلْءَاخِرَةِin the Hereafterهُمْ[they]كَٰفِرُونَ(are) disbelievers37
وَٱتَّبَعْتُAnd I followمِلَّةَ(the) religionءَابَآءِىٓ(of) my forefathersإِبْرَٰهِيمَIbrahimوَإِسْحَٰقَand Isaacوَيَعْقُوبَand YaqubمَاNotكَانَwasلَنَآfor usأَنthatنُّشْرِكَwe associateبِٱللَّهِwith AllahمِنanyشَىْءٍthingذَٰلِكَThatمِن(is) fromفَضْلِ(the) Graceٱللَّهِ(of) Allahعَلَيْنَاupon usوَعَلَىand uponٱلنَّاسِthe mankindوَلَٰكِنَّbutأَكْثَرَmostٱلنَّاسِ(of) the menلَا(are) notيَشْكُرُونَgrateful38
يَٰصَىٰحِبَىِO my two companionsٱلسِّجْنِ(of) the prisonءَأَرْبَابٌAre lordsمُّتَفَرِّقُونَseparateخَيْرٌbetterأَمِorٱللَّهُAllahٱلْوَٰحِدُthe Oneٱلْقَهَّارُthe Irresistible39
مَاNotتَعْبُدُونَyou worshipمِنbesides Himدُونِهِۦٓbesides Himإِلَّآbutأَسْمَآءًnamesسَمَّيْتُمُوهَآwhich you have named themأَنتُمْyouوَءَابَآؤُكُمand your forefathersمَّآnotأَنزَلَ(has) sent downٱللَّهُAllahبِهَاfor itمِنanyسُلْطَٰنٍauthorityإِنِNotٱلْحُكْمُ(is) the commandإِلَّاbutلِلَّهِfor AllahأَمَرَHe has commandedأَلَّاthat notتَعْبُدُوٓا۟you worshipإِلَّآbutإِيَّاهُHim AloneذَٰلِكَThatٱلدِّينُ(is) the religionٱلْقَيِّمُthe rightوَلَٰكِنَّbutأَكْثَرَmostٱلنَّاسِ[the] menلَا(do) notيَعْلَمُونَknow40
يَٰصَىٰحِبَىِO my two companionsٱلسِّجْنِ(of) the prisonأَمَّآAs forأَحَدُكُمَاone of youفَيَسْقِىhe will give drinkرَبَّهُۥ(to) his masterخَمْرًاwineوَأَمَّاand as forٱلْءَاخَرُthe otherفَيُصْلَبُhe will be crucifiedفَتَأْكُلُand will eatٱلطَّيْرُthe birdsمِنfromرَّأْسِهِۦhis headقُضِىَHas been decreedٱلْأَمْرُthe matterٱلَّذِىabout whichفِيهِabout whichتَسْتَفْتِيَانِyou both inquire41
وَقَالَAnd he saidلِلَّذِىto the one whomظَنَّhe thoughtأَنَّهُۥthat heنَاجٍ(would be) savedمِّنْهُمَاof both of themٱذْكُرْنِىMention meعِندَtoرَبِّكَyour masterفَأَنسَىٰهُBut made him forgetٱلشَّيْطَٰنُthe Shaitaanذِكْرَ(the) mentionرَبِّهِۦ(to) his masterفَلَبِثَso he remainedفِىinٱلسِّجْنِthe prisonبِضْعَseveralسِنِينَyears42
وَقَالَAnd saidٱلْمَلِكُthe kingإِنِّىٓIndeed, Iأَرَىٰ[I] have seenسَبْعَsevenبَقَرَٰتٍcowsسِمَانٍfatيَأْكُلُهُنَّeating themسَبْعٌsevenعِجَافٌlean onesوَسَبْعَand sevenسُنۢبُلَٰتٍears (of corn)خُضْرٍgreenوَأُخَرَand othersيَابِسَٰتٍdryيَٰٓأَيُّهَاOٱلْمَلَأُchiefsأَفْتُونِىExplain to meفِىaboutرُءْيَٰىَmy visionإِنifكُنتُمْyou canلِلرُّءْيَاof visionsتَعْبُرُونَinterpret43
قَالُوٓا۟They saidأَضْغَٰثُConfusedأَحْلَٰمٍdreamsوَمَاand notنَحْنُweبِتَأْوِيلِ(are) in the interpretationٱلْأَحْلَٰمِ(of) the dreamsبِعَٰلِمِينَlearned44
وَقَالَBut saidٱلَّذِىthe one whoنَجَاwas savedمِنْهُمَاof the twoوَٱدَّكَرَand rememberedبَعْدَafterأُمَّةٍa periodأَنَاIأُنَبِّئُكُم[I] will inform youبِتَأْوِيلِهِۦof its interpretationفَأَرْسِلُونِso send me forth45
يُوسُفُYusufأَيُّهَاOٱلصِّدِّيقُthe truthful oneأَفْتِنَاExplain to usفِىaboutسَبْعِ(the) sevenبَقَرَٰتٍcowsسِمَانٍfatيَأْكُلُهُنَّeating themسَبْعٌsevenعِجَافٌlean onesوَسَبْعِand sevenسُنۢبُلَٰتٍears (of corn)خُضْرٍgreenوَأُخَرَand otherيَابِسَٰتٍdryلَّعَلِّىٓthat I mayأَرْجِعُreturnإِلَىtoٱلنَّاسِthe peopleلَعَلَّهُمْso that they mayيَعْلَمُونَknow46
قَالَHe saidتَزْرَعُونَYou will sowسَبْعَ(for) sevenسِنِينَyearsدَأَبًاas usualفَمَاand that whichحَصَدتُّمْyou reapفَذَرُوهُso leave itفِىinسُنۢبُلِهِۦٓits earsإِلَّاexceptقَلِيلًاa littleمِّمَّاfrom whichتَأْكُلُونَyou (will) eat47
ثُمَّThenيَأْتِىwill comeمِنۢafterبَعْدِafterذَٰلِكَthatسَبْعٌsevenشِدَادٌhard (years)يَأْكُلْنَ(which will) consumeمَاwhatقَدَّمْتُمْyou advancedلَهُنَّfor themإِلَّاexceptقَلِيلًاa littleمِّمَّاof whatتُحْصِنُونَyou (will) store48
ثُمَّThenيَأْتِىwill comeمِنۢafterبَعْدِafterذَٰلِكَthatعَامٌa yearفِيهِin itيُغَاثُwill be given abundant rainٱلنَّاسُthe peopleوَفِيهِand in itيَعْصِرُونَthey will press49
وَقَالَAnd saidٱلْمَلِكُthe kingٱئْتُونِىBring him to meبِهِۦBring him to meفَلَمَّاBut whenجَآءَهُcame to himٱلرَّسُولُthe messengerقَالَhe saidٱرْجِعْReturnإِلَىٰtoرَبِّكَyour lordفَسْـَٔلْهُand ask himمَاwhatبَالُ(is the) caseٱلنِّسْوَةِ(of) the womenٱلَّٰتِىwhoقَطَّعْنَcutأَيْدِيَهُنَّtheir handsإِنَّIndeedرَبِّىmy Lordبِكَيْدِهِنَّof their plotعَلِيمٌ(is) All-Knower50
قَالَHe saidمَاWhatخَطْبُكُنَّ(was) your affairإِذْwhenرَٰوَدتُّنَّyou sought to seduceيُوسُفَYusufعَنfromنَّفْسِهِۦhimselfقُلْنَThey saidحَٰشَAllah forbidلِلَّهِAllah forbidمَاNotعَلِمْنَاwe knowعَلَيْهِabout himمِنanyسُوٓءٍevilقَالَتِSaidٱمْرَأَتُ(the) wifeٱلْعَزِيزِ(of) AzizٱلْـَٰٔنَNowحَصْحَصَ(is) manifestٱلْحَقُّthe truthأَنَاIرَٰوَدتُّهُۥsought to seduce himعَنfromنَّفْسِهِۦhimselfوَإِنَّهُۥand indeed, heلَمِنَ(is) surely ofٱلصَّٰدِقِينَthe truthful51
ذَٰلِكَThatلِيَعْلَمَhe may knowأَنِّىthat Iلَمْnotأَخُنْهُ[I] betray himبِٱلْغَيْبِin secretوَأَنَّand thatٱللَّهَAllahلَا(does) notيَهْدِىguideكَيْدَ(the) planٱلْخَآئِنِينَ(of) the betrayers52
