Every Muslim knows that the Qur’an is important. We hear its verses in salah, in Ramadan, in funerals, in gatherings, in reminders and in moments of hardship. The sound of the Qur’an is familiar to the Muslim ear. But the question is deeper than familiarity: has the Qur’an become guidance for our life? A person can own the Qur’an and still be far from its guidance. A family can keep many copies of the mushaf in the home and still allow the home to be ruled by anger, neglect and distraction. A person can recite beautifully and still struggle to submit to what Allah commands. This is why we must return to the purpose of revelation. The Qur’an was not sent only to decorate shelves, ceremonies and memories. It was sent to guide the living. It was sent to bring people from darkness to light, from confusion to clarity, from heedlessness to remembrance, from sin to repentance, from arrogance to humility, from dunya obsession to preparation for the Hereafter. This book is an invitation to return to the Qur’an with the heart of a servant. It asks the reader to recite, but also to listen. It asks the reader to learn, but also to act. It asks the reader to admire the Qur’an, but also to surrender to it.
